Chapter 4 Keep it Secret or Tell the Truth?
**2 months later**
(Amu's pov)
I have gotten used to eating the way Ikuto had told me I would have to. But the problem is that most of the time I don't feel the need to feed. I haven't really told him, but I will tonight.
About three weeks ago, I accidently cut myself on a rose bush and my blood dripped onto a petal that had died. It brought it to a vibrant red. I asked Ikuto and he told me that it was strange. I had to show him what I was talking about. I asked him to try it and it didn't work like mine. Ikuto then told me that I was special and that he didn't know why my blood could do that.
Ikuto got word that his family was coming to visit, they'll be here in about 1 week. The messenger was 2 weeks ahead of them, so it gave us time to get the palace ready for his family.
By the time everyone arrived, I was very nervous. I didn't know how they would react to me, but I knew that Ikuto wouldn't let anything happen to me.
After two days, Ikuto brought his parents and I into his room so that we could discuss what the next course of action would be.
"Amu, what do you what us to do?" Queen Souko asked me.
"I want my parents to understand and love me, but I don't know how they would take it if we told them I wasn't human anymore" I said. "I don't want them to view me any different. I love my brother and sister and they may see me as a threat. They may even keep me from them too. If I have to pretend for a while I will, but what do you suggest I do?" I asked his parents.
"Well, I suggest we ask them what they think of creatures of beyond imagination. If they respond favorably, then we tell them. If not, then we keep it a secret and you will tell them when you feel it is required" King Aruto suggested.
"I can agree with that" I told them both.
"Now we need to discuss your dreams. I am going to tell you what Ikuto has been dreaming about since he was 5 years old and when I am done, I would like you to tell me what you think, okay?" Queen Souko said, and I nodded.
For the next 2 hours his parents explained to me his dreams and I just stared at them in shock.
"Did he tell you my dreams?" I asked them.
No, koibito" Queen Souko said. "This is why we think it could be bits and pieces of what will happen. It has been said there were vampires born that were able to tell the future. They could heal with blood. They could curse with their blood. There are many other things that the blood of a vampire can do but the rarest is the ones who can take something that died and bring it back with only a drop. I have never seen this, and it is only been spoken of, so we don't know what happens to what was brought back. If they die normally or if they have been given eternal life. We (motioning to Aurto, Ikuto and herself) can heal with our blood. We don't know all of what you can do yet. Ikuto seems to have the gift of prophecy and it appears as though you do too" she finished explaining.
"Ikuto?" I asked. "Should we tell them about the rose petal?"
"Yea, considering it's still red after three weeks and hasn't been watered" he said as he got up and went to his desk and handed them the rose petal my blood turned back to red.
"Mom, Dad, this rose petal was brown and dead. She was in the garden tending to the roses when it pricked her, her blood fell onto this petal and brought it back. We tried with mine, but it did nothing" he explained to them. "She told me that she was thinking about our gems at the time when her finger was pricked."
"You can heal Amu?" Queen Souko asked me. "Can you show me, I have only ever heard of it and it would be neat to see" she asked me.
"Sure" I said. "I'll show you, but after we talk to my parents okay?"
"Ikuto was right you know" Queen Souko told me.
"What do you mean?" I asked her.
"You act though you are almost an adult. You don't behave like the 7-year-old you appear to be. I am glad because of what you will have to deal with, no child should have to, but I am sad too because it seems as though you can't be a child anymore" She said sadly.
"It's okay Queen Souko. I am happy as to who I am. I just have to remember to pretend like I am 7 when my parents and everyone else are around" I said hugging her.
"Please call me Souko or Okaasan. You will be marrying my son anyway" she responded hugging me back.
"Y-yes, Okaasan" I said shyly with my face red, and Ikuto was grinning because he knew that we would one day be married after all.
"Let's just go talk to my parents already" I said as I walked to the door and we all left to figure out how truthful I could be with my family or if I had to hide who I was.
When we left the room, I went to find my parents and saw Ami and Sora playing around them. "Hi Haha, hi Chichi. How are you doing?" I asked as we all walked into the room.
"Great, are you doing okay?" my mom asked me.
"Yea, we just wanted to talk with for a few, are you busy?" I asked them.
"Never too busy for you, you know that Koibito" my mom said smiling.
She called in a servant that took the twins to another room while we all sat down.
"I was wondering your opinion of the supernatural?" King Aruto said.
"Well, in what sense do you mean?" my father asked.
"Vampires, werewolves, fairies, zombies, trolls, and many other supernatural beings?" Queen Souko elaborated. "What is your opinion on these? Do you believe they are possible and if you do, do you view them as the enemy or friend?"
"Well" my father said. "We – why are you asking?" he asked uncomfortably.
"Just wondering" I said.
"We believe that if they were real, that they would not be welcome here" my mom said. "If they were real then we would have to constantly check to ensure our family and our people were safe."
"I see, they are fairy tales after all, right Haha*? Can I ride a unicorn one day? If you find one? I asked innocently.
"Yes dear, they aren't real though. I'm sorry to tell that some characters are and will always be fictional. Thank God, I would not want to have to deal with the evil fictional characters like vampires, werewolves, fairies, witches, and all of them. If I were ever proved wrong, then they would be excommunicated from the kingdom or killed depending on the situation" my father said. "Any and all supernatural beings, good or bad will never be accepted while I am on the throne or any of my descendants" he said sternly.
"Excom–what?" I asked pretending I didn't know.
"Exiled Koibito, they would be kicked out and not allowed to return" he explained to me. "Why do you ask?"
"Well, we brought some books with the supernatural beings in them and we wanted to make that we could give them to your daughter" Queen Souko said. "But if you want, we can keep them."
"No, if its good fairies and all that, then let Amu have her imagination" she said happily. "We want her to grow up and see Ikuto as her knight in shining armor" she teased me while smiling.
I didn't say anything but hid my face.
"Okay, well, we will let you both get back to running the kingdom" King Aruto said and looked at Ikuto and I telling us to meet them later with his eyes. "See you soon Tsumugu, Midori" and walked out.
"Love you Haha love you Chichi" I said as I skipped out of the room.
Later we found Aruto and Souko in the courtyard, "Well, that went well" I said sarcastically. "I guess I get to read a bunch of fairytales for a while?" I said to Souko.
"Yea, sorry about that, I just wanted to be prepared in case they were against us." She explained. "I would ask to see your healing powers, but right now may not be the best time, I am afraid you'll kill whatever your blood touches. I think that your emotions are connected to what your blood will do. You know, there is a story that said some vampires can create objects with their blood. They can all sorts of things. I believe it would be really neat if you were able to do that" she said. "Maybe we can test the effects of your blood tomorrow, keep in mind we have to travel back home in a week and if we still don't see it, then it's okay. Just please take care of Ikuto" she said while hugging me.
"I'm tired Okaasan" I said. "I think I need to take a rest" then I walked slowly back to my room saddened that my parents would never accept me as I truly was.
The next week went by fast and I was able to show them how I could heal, and they were happy to see it and told Ikuto that I was truly special and not to let me go. He just smiled and told them he didn't plan on it. They left back for their kingdom and Ikuto stayed with me.
