Chapter 5 The Red-Eyed King Attacks

*** 6 years later***

(Amu's pov)

As the years went by, I found myself loving him more and more. I was 13 years old and Ikuto was 17, we were closer than most couples and it was obvious that we were happy with the arrangement of our marriage to be.

We discovered years before that my powers as a vampire grew with my physical age. I was able to manipulate my blood in ways Ikuto had never seen. I could make things come back from the dead. There were many birds that I saved that way. I was able to heal wounds faster than even Ikuto could. I was able to curse plants and they died almost immediately. I was even able to make plants grow and mature. The trees around the palace constantly gave their fruit both in and out of season. The older I became the more I could control what I wanted my blood to do. The land had prospered in a way they never had before.

My parents were happy and not as stressed over the land's food production, but I was still discouraged because I would never be able to tell what I was without being kicked out of my own home. Then one day Ikuto and I were walking through the forest for our daily walk and decided it was time to head back home. We left the forest and heard yelling from all directions, so we ran back to our palace.

Just as we made it back, Ami came running up to us while crying that a man with red eyes and blond hair was attacking the palace.

Ikuto looked at me and said that our dreams are coming true and that we would probably have to reveal ourselves if it meant the safety of my family. I agreed with a sad voice, knowing that I would never be allowed back home again once they knew. I would never get to see Ami or Sora grow up and the thought of it made me want to cry.

"Let's go Ikuto, come one Ami, everything will be okay" I said then grabbed my 9-year-old sister's hand and we ran back into the palace. The scene we saw horrified us as we saw dead bodies of people we knew and soldiers that we did not, but I knew that I had to act.

"Ami, where's Haha, Chichi, and Sora?" I asked her.

"They were running to the cellar" she said, "But they were cut off and the ran towards the throne room."

Ikuto, Ami, and I ran to the room and saw our parents battling soldiers and my brother in the corner of the room behind the tapestry of our family tree. I told my sister to hide while I helped mom and dad.

My parents had their swords with blood all over them and they were wounded. They stood side by side and refused to allow them near my brother. Ikuto and I saw a man with blonde hair and red eyes, and we knew there was no other option, he was the man from our dreams. He was a vampire. I sighed sadly and said, "Let's do this Ikuto" my fangs extended, and black streaks went through my hair.

I ran to my parents' side and yelled for them to duck, then I cut my hand and let my blood fly towards the yellow haired man hoping that it would distract him from my parents and him leave my family alone. A few drops fell on my parents and healed their wounds but when it hit the enemy, his arm was burned.

"I thought I couldn't hurt other vampires Ikuto?!" I yelled behind me. "Why did I hurt him?"

"I don't know, but now is not the time to question how to help your family!" he yelled back over the noise.

"Noted! Let's go" I said then I moved to help the other soldiers and flung my hand out and my blood hit an enemy soldier, then another and another. Some soldiers that my blood splattered on fell and died when it hit them. "I guess some die from my blood and others it burns, that is good to know. The red-eyed king must have humans and vampires in his army." I told Ikuto without thinking that my parents would hear everything I said.

Ikuto nodded his head and told me that not all of the soldiers were human and to be careful, he reminded me to aim for the neck if they aren't human. "Yep, got it! Thanks for the reminder Ikuto."

"What are you doing Amu?! You're 13 years old, why are you fighting?" my mother said as I killed another soldier by touching him and leaving a black handprint on his face. Then she realized I did not have a weapon. "You're hurting people with blood?! What do you mean other vampires?!" she screeched and swung her sword to stop another soldier from trying to get to Sora.

"Sorry Haha" I said sadly. "I love you, but I will not allow them to hurt you, Chichi, Ami or Sora" then I turned back to the soldiers. "Ikuto, do you have a sword I can use? Maybe I can save some blood for later you know?!" and he threw me a discarded sword from a fallen soldier.

"Here!" he yelled. I caught it and my blood smeared along the blade then I started swinging it, I hit my marks turning vampires black with burns or killing them with one blow and soon the all of the enemies soldiers, except for the red-eyes man were dead due to our soldiers, my parents, plus Ikuto and I. The part that scared my parents the most was when some soldiers turned to dust and other soldiers bled out on the ground.

The red-eyed man screamed that he would not be defeated, he would get the rare vampire princess he was after and make her his queen and then he disappeared.

"Woah! Ikuto, can we do that?!" I asked him shocked. Ikuto just looked at me and said "I'm not sure, I haven't tried it yet" then he looks at my parents.

"Okaasan?" Ikuto asked. "Are you okay?"

As the servants came from their hiding spots and started cleaning everything, my mom demanded that Ikuto and I to talk with her and explain what just happened with fear on her face. We went into the next room with my father.

"What are you?!" she cried. "How did you do that? That was blood I saw you hit people with. They were burning and crying! Then something healed your father and I, was that your blood too? The last time I saw burns like that was when you were 7! Why did some of the soldiers turn into dust?! What the heck is going on here?!" she yelled and cried at the same time as the questions kept coming.

"I know Haha, I know" I said softly with my eyes down. My fangs were still visible and there were black streaks throughout my hair.

"Well?" she asked again. "What are you? What just happened? Why do you have black hair and what happened to your teeth?"

"Haha? Um, do you remember when someone tried to kidnap me at 7 years old, and the guard came back with a burn that couldn't be healed or stopped no matter what you did?" I asked her.

"Yes, but what does that have to do with you?" she replied trying to calm down from the battle.

"The burn, it was my fault. I didn't know it at the time, but the eve of my birthday, my blood changed. You know I don't let anyone treat my wounds but Ikuto, right? It is because my blood would now burn humans. I didn't know how to control it before, but I do now. My blood can burn humans or whatever it touches but it can heal too though. That is why the plants and the trees constantly bear fruit both in and out of season. I learned how to control my blood's powers through plants and animals. I can even use my blood to heal and curse at the same time. Like I did for you and Chichi against the Red-Eyed King." I explained. "It dropped on you and healed your wounds but burned him."

"My fangs come out when I'm in danger or when I need to fight. My hair also changes color too. I get black streaks throughout it. The reason is because, well, I was born a vampire Haha. I'm sorry Chichi" I said crying and Ikuto hugged me. "I am also not mentally 13. I am an adult. I became a teenager mentally when I turned 7" I told my parents and they looked at me angrily.

"We don't even know you then, do we?" my mom asked me. "You have only pretended to be my daughter and pretended to love us" she said in anger.

"I always have and I always will love you. I know that I am a monster to you now. I tried to be a human; the thing is I wouldn't have ever told you what I was if I could've saved you without showing it, but he was going to kill you and Chichi and Ami and Sora and everyone else. I wanted to protect everyone. I wanted you all to live. I couldn't allow my family and friends to die. Please understand Haha, please? I can control it now. I am not a baby vampire. It can go back to the way it was before. I promise. I'm not a danger to anyone."

By now I was fully sobbing. Ikuto stood next to me and refused to let me go.

"The soldiers that turned into dust were vampires too, that's why we told you to cut their heads off. The swords were metal, so it wouldn't have mattered if we stabbed them in the heart or cut them in two. They would have just come back swinging faster. The only way to kill a vampire is to cut off their head or stab them in the heart with something wooden. You could leave most of them in the sun and it will kill them, but the sun went down so that wouldn't have helped" Ikuto told my parents answering why some turned to dust.

"Are you one too Ikuto?" my father asked him. "Are you this vampire creature too?"

"Yes, I have been since I was born, but I my abilities also awoke up when I was 7 as well" he said calmly. "I assure you, there is nothing dangerous about Amu nor me. We are fully capable of controlling ourselves. I have been here for 8 years and Amu 6 years, no one had gotten hurt Otosan. I promise, we have not turned anyone nor fed off any humans at all. Amu is still your daughter. If you must, please banish only me but allow Amu to stay. She is your daughter after all."

"Ikuto! No!" I cried and hugging him tightly.

"If you two are vampires, why can you walk in the sun?" my parents asked me and Ikuto slightly shook his head. He was telling me not to tell them how and I agreed that it was something we could not tell them.

"I'm sorry Haha, Chichi, I can't tell you that. In order for me to tell you, we will need to know that we can trust you not hurt us and right now, and the looks that you two have is telling me that you will use it against us. I love you both, but I can't tell you" I said sadly.

"Wait, are there other vampires in the kingdom? How do we find them?" my father asked me.

"Again Chichi, I can't tell you unless you were to accept me as I am" I explained with my meeting his eyes. I knew that he saw me as his enemy, but I wasn't going to back down from him nor was I going to sell out my friends. I loved him but I couldn't change who or what I was.

"So, you defy us and choose to protect your vampire friends?" he said angrily.

"Chichi, I can't let you hurt innocent people, you are my father, but I can't let you hurt my friends." I said firmly.

"Innocent?!" my father yelled. "You're vampires! Look what one vampire did to us."

"I know, and look how two vampires saved you, Haha, Ami, Sora and everyone else in this kingdom" I shot back. But all he did was glare at me.

"Are Ran, Miki, Suu and Dia vampires? What about Ami and Sora?" my mother asked quickly.

"No, they have no idea what I am. I haven't told them to keep them from getting hurt. They are innocent" I told my parents praying that they wouldn't hurt my friends or siblings thinking they were vampires. "The proof will be this; have them spend three days in the sun from morning until night, give them food and water, make sure you only feed them fruits and vegetables and that they are fully cooked. If they are vampires, they will not be able to take it. They will need blood and that type of food doesn't have blood in it, most vampires feed from the blood of half cooked meat and not off humans like you believe. This can be how you test anyone. In case you haven't noticed, I like my food extra rare and still bleeding" I told my father. "Ami and Sora are completely human. There is no vampire blood in them at all, I tested them about 4 years ago. They are safe" I told my mom quietly looking her in the eyes and she looked relieved to know that at least two children in the family was human.

"Will you accept me still please?" I asked them. "Am I still family to you?" I asked again crying softly.

"Amu, I am sorry, I know you are our daughter, but you can't stay here anymore. That man will be back, and I believe he was after you. He did say that he was after a vampire princess" she said sternly. "If he sensed you here, and you leave, he will not attack us again because you are gone."

"Demo Haha–" I said.

"From this day on, you are not of the Hinamori family bloodline. I denounce you! We will not have a creature of the night within our family. I formally disown you as my daughter." my father said. "You stopped being my daughter the day you killed the guard that only wanted to help you. It doesn't matter if it was an accident or not. You killed him" then he turned his back on us.

"Haha! Chichi!" I cried. "Please, I'm still Amu. I still love you" I sobbed. "Please don't make me leave my family and my home."

"This isn't your home anymore Amu. No vampire will call this kingdom their home, we explained that 6 years ago when Ikuto's parents asked us about supernatural beings. From this day on, we will test everyone in the kingdom sporadically the way you have explained so that no one can get away with it, and any vampire found will be either banished or killed. The outcome depends on which option the King and I believe is best for our Kingdom" my mother said.

"Leave and do not come back" she ordered. "You have one hour, if you are not gone by then, we will have to remove you by force" then she too turned her back on us.

"I love you Haha, I love you Chichi. Please take care of Ami and Sora" I said while crying and holding Ikuto's hand. "Goodbye King Tsumugu and Queen Midori, I will leave your country prosperous and allow the trees and farmlands to continue growing in and out of season for the remainder of the year after that, they will go back to natural growth. If I could make them produce that way forever I would, but I have to be here to make that happen. This will drain some of my energy but it is also the extent of my love for my family" then I walked out of the room crying but holding my head up knowing that I saved my family and they were safe even though revealing myself cost me my family.

I hugged Ami and Sora and then healed the sickness' they had. My parents didn't know, but they had a terminable illness that would have killed them, and the doctors couldn't figure out what it was. So, while I was hugging them, I pricked my finger and touched their necks with it, willing them to get better. I explained to them that I was leaving. I told them that Haha and Chichi wanted me to leave and not come back. I asked them to remember that no matter what they were told I would always love them. Then I asked that they not forget about me and to remember me kindly. They were crying but they let me go after I hugged them one more time.

Less than an hour later, Ikuto and I walked out of my home for the last time and headed to his kingdom. I prayed that the King with red eyes was truly after me so that he would leave my family alone, since I was no longer welcome there and able to protect them.
