Sorry this chapter was a long time coming. I had the first three chapters pre-typed, but I had to work on this one a little bit, because this chapter was only half-finished when I uploaded this story.
Hope this was worth it!
Marinette walked up to her conjoined room with Alya, Nino, and Adrian. The three had figured that Marinette would be a mess when the time came for her showcase. Unfortunately, Marinette agreed with them. She knew how she was. She would be perfectly fine until the time came to actually present her designs. Then, she would be a complete wreck and probably embarrass herself and all of Paris then she would exile herself to her bedroom for all eternity where she would ROT IN A POOL OF REGRET AND DEPRESSION which would probably lead to her being AKUMATIZED meaning she would end up fighting Cat Noir again which wouldn't end well since-
Well, you get the point.
She entered the room and sighed, closing the door softly behind her. She had a whole elevator ride to think about what she would say to her friends, but she had drawn a blank. Now, she still didn't know what to tell them.
"Hey girl, welcome back!" Alya exclaimed happily. Marinette smiled at her. "We thought you would end up staying with your cousin the whole night."
"Well, there's something I needed to talk to all of you about," Marinette said. Alya smiled at her.
"Uh oh, are we panicking already?" she asked cheekily. Marinette smirked at her.
"Actually, no. This is about something else entirely."
Alya nodded and texted something on her phone. The next minute, there's a knock on the door and Nino and Adrian come into the room.
"So, what's up?" Nino asked. Marinette sat in the center of the room, gesturing for everyone else to do the same.
"What's your first thought about mutants?" Marinette asked. Alya got a nerve-racking smile on her face, and Nino removed his headphones in interest. Even Adrian seemed intrigued.
"Complete awesomeness!" Alya said. Nino nodded his agreement.
"Why do you ask?" Adrian asked. Marinette took a deep breath and said, in a whisper, "Cause, I may end up meeting some tomorrow."
Alya and Nino gasped loudly, but Marinette and Adrian were quick to shush them.
"I whispered it for a reason," Marinette informed them, still whispering. "Their existence is top-secret. I doubt anyone in this building knows they exist."
"Why tell us? And how do you know?" Nino asked. Marinette blushed slightly.
"Well, I was wondering if you guys wanted to come with me to meet them tomorrow. Casey's gonna pick me up," Marinette said. Alya smiled at her.
"Are you kidding, Girl? No way am I gonna miss out!" she said.
"Count me in," Nino told Marinette. Adrian shrugged his shoulders.
"Sounds like fun. What time is he coming?"
"He said to meet in the lobby at around eleven," Marinette said. The others nodded.
"See you in the morning, then," Adrian said.
The next morning, the four Parisians ate a quick breakfast and sat in the lobby, waiting for Casey. Chloe was being obnoxious, as usual, but nothing could dampen their spirits. They were too excited.
Soon enough, Casey came walking into the building, followed by April.
"Ready to go?" he asked. Marinette nodded.
"More than ready," she told him. April chuckled.
"I've gotta admit, I love your enthusiasm," she said. Marinette smiled at her.
"Let's hurry, then," Casey said. They were led outside.
They walked the winding streets of New York City, finally coming to a stop in a darkened alley.
"Is this where they live?" Alya asked.
"Kind of," April told her. "We still have to walk quite a ways. This is your last chance to turn around now."
"Are you kidding?" Nino asked. "There's no way I'm missing this!"
April and Casey shared a look, and April shrugged.
"Alright... if you're fine with walking through the sewers," she said. She was watching Adrian out of the corner of her eye. April knew he was the top fashion model in Paris. Yesterday, he didn't seem to be as snobby as she had expected. This was a test.
To her surprise, he smiled.
"I don't have a problem with it," he said. April smirked at him.
"Huh. You just keep exceeding expectations, don't you, Agreste?" she asked sarcastically. She bent down and removed the sewer lid.
"Cover us, Jones," April said, and Casey nodded. He kept his eyes trained on the end of the alley. Marinette assumed he was playing lookout.
April crawled down into the sewers, then Adrian. Alya was next, Nino, then Marinette, and finally, Casey. He closed the lid over their heads.
"This way," April said, pointing down a tunnel. Her voice echoed in the enclosed space. They trudged through the sewer, avoiding the water. Surprisingly, it was clean.
"Why do they live in the sewer?" Marinette asked. Casey came up beside her.
"Well, if they had grown up on the surface, they would have been in serious danger," he told her.
"Danger? You mean, by scientists and stuff?" Nino asked.
"It's a little more complicated than that," April said. "I first met the guys a couple of years ago. They saved me from being kidnapped by a bunch of freaky alien robots."
"Alien robots?" Alya asked, getting excited. April turned to her with a chuckle.
"I wouldn't get so excited, if I were you. They wanted to take over our planet."
"Oh," said Alya, deflating slightly. She perked up once again. "But you and your friends stopped them, right?"
"Of course," Casey said. "We were just that awesome!"
"It was mostly the turtles, though. They have ten years of training on me," April said.
"Maybe, but you have something that they don't," Casey said. April nudged him in the ribs, making him double over.
"Not like it really came in handy," she told him. Casey stood straight back up as if he had never gone down.
"Keep telling yourself that, Red," he said. Marinette stopped in her tracks when she heard laughter up ahead. Her friends stopped, too.
"I'll let them know you guys are here," April said. She walked ahead through a curtain. The laughter stopped. After a moment, April poked her head out of the curtain and gestured for everyone to enter.
Marinette lost her breath at the sight. It certainly wasn't the fanciest place she had seen, but it was a very comfortable living space. There were abandoned subway tracks to her left and her right, along with a door that led into another room. There was a hallway right beside the room, which led to five more doors. There was a couch, a television, and an arcade game in the room that they were currently in.
The laughter from earlier streamed through the door beside the tracks. The Parisians followed April and Casey through the door and stopped at the entrance.
There they were... four mutant ninja turtles.
