Chapter 9 Ami and Sora join the team
(Ikuto's pov)
I didn't go the mouth of the forest for the twin's birthday. I was asked to practice my telekinetic abilities. I didn't want to stay behind but I knew that she was safe since Kukai and Utau were with her. When the afternoon came and they still weren't back, I became very nervous that maybe the dreams were wrong and that the twins did not have supernatural abilities, but when I looked up I saw Amu holding hands with her sister and a boy completely covered in hair.
"Amu!" I yelled as I ran to meet them.
"Hi Ikuto" she said letting go of the twins' hands and hugged me. "The dreams were right. Sora is a werewolf and Ami is a witch.
"Ikuto! It's great to see you. Sora and I knew Haha and Chichi were lying about you going home" Ami exclaimed running up and hugging me too. "Wait? You know what I am? How? She asked.
"Remember when Kukai said that we would explain everything when we all arrived?" Amu asked her and she nodded her head. "Well, it starts now, so I'll ask Kukai to keep the kids in the den until the majority of your questions have been answered."
After a few minutes Amu came out of the den and smiled nervously, "Let's do this Ikuto."
"Amu, what is going on?" Sora asked.
"Ikuto and I will start at the beginning of when things started to change. Ikuto, we can start with you and end with me, then they can ask any questions" she said as she sat down on the ground and we all followed suit, Ran Miki and Suu included.
"When I was 5 years old, I started having dreams and nightmares" I began. "The night before my 7th birthday, my blood changed, and I woke up as a full vampire. Your sister was like me, except she did not start having any dreams until her body changed at 7 years old. I know you guys were too young, but when Amu turned 7, she got cut by someone trying to kidnap her. The blood that dripped down on the man, burned him, at least this is what Amu told me. Then a soldier, who was trying to help her get back home, accidently touched her blood, and it burned him too. Your parents and the doctors couldn't stop him from dying."
"I helped your sister come to grips and understand what was happening to her. She learned that not only was she a vampire, but that I was too. Then I healed her wound and proved to her that I was able to touch her without her hurting me. After that, she and I were officially betrothed in both ways as human and vampire. I helped her with her dreams and nightmares and eventually she learned how to handle them without being scared."
"Not to interrupt" Ran asked, "but was that why you got the beautiful blue gem?"
"Yes, Ran. That is why. Ikuto gave it to me as a present. We can't say why I have it but that was the day my vampire blood was activated. We couldn't tell them because Ikuto had to do a ceremony to make sure I would be okay" she explained.
"But that means that he saw –" Suu started to say.
"– yes, he did Suu, but I was 7. He was proper and he was only 11. He may not have had the mind of an 11-year-old, but he was still good to me and protected me. And now you know why my parents nor anyone else could find out" she said smiling and cutting off her friends before they could reveal the location.
"Onto the important topic at hand, when you two, Ami and Sora, were 7 years old, I tested you both to confirm or deny whether or not you two were vampires" Amu told Ami and Sora. "What I didn't know was that you two were completely different supernatural beings. Then again, I didn't know how to test you for those. I'm sorry guys" she said sadly.
"It's okay Amu, at least we are together now" Ami said smiling. "So, what can you both do? What can we do? Why are we like this? Who are the dreamers?" she asked as the questions tumbled out.
"Well, I can heal minor wounds and some major, just none that have not been poisoned by vampiric blood, any other poisons, I can heal and I can move things with my mind, I have the gift of prophesy or dreaming as the wolves call it, but this I cannot control" I said.
"I can do a bunch of different things and I really don't want to name them all –" Amu started to say but I cut her off.
"She is a dreamer. She can heal most major wounds. She can control what her blood does. She can curse, cure, and heal all with the same drop. She did this for your parents during the battle against the red-eyed king, and for you and Sora when she was banished from her home. She told me that you two had a disease that would kill you and so she cured you. She can form solid objects with her blood like knives, daggers, swords and anything she can imagine really. She is able to take one drop from her solid object and form a shield that simultaneously heals allies and immobilizes her enemies. She can bring things back that died, and they stay alive. She can make things produce their fruit all year long and never stop. She can do many many more things, but her face is as bright as her hair, so I guess I should stop there" I said grinning.
"Ikuto! You didn't have to explain so much! Now they'll think I'm even more different then they are or even worse. Be afraid of me" Amu said with her eyes down.
"Amu, we will never be afraid of you" Sora said as he got up and hugged me and Ami did the same. "We love you; you are different yes, but so are we and you aren't afraid of us. I look like some kind of weird overgrown dog."
"And I started a bench on fire" Ami said quietly. "Can you help me control my powers?"
"We'll try Ami. They seem to be connected to your emotions. As for your question of why we are like this? Ikuto said that it runs on our blood." Amu said as she let go of her siblings. "We don't know whose side, but I don't really care as long as we always know that we can and always will be there for each other."
"This brings us to the topic of dreamers" I said. "There are some of us that have supernatural abilities who can dream of the future. I haven't met anyone that can control these dreams, but they tell us what will happen. This was how Amu and I knew that the red-eyed king would attack. What we didn't know that he would first attack our home. We didn't know when it was going to happen. However, we are gathering the knowledge from other dreamers and putting the pieces together and trying to figure everything out."
"Wow, so that's why you knew we were coming and what we were. You dreamt it. Did Amu too?" Sora asked in wonder.
"No, neither Ikuto nor I saw you or Ami. But members of the pack did. There is a sweet girl your age here. She saw you in her dreams and asked where the werewolf boy and the girl with sparks that could fly out of her hands were at" Amu explained.
Both Ami and Sora just stared at Amu not able to fully understand but knew that they were safe. Then I called to them getting their attention.
"Ami? Sora? I know this is a lot to take in, but your sister and I have been training because of who we have to battle next. Do you remember the red eyed king that attacked us a month ago?" I asked them and they said yes. "Well, he was after your sister. He wants her to be his wife."
"But she belongs with you Ikuto!" Sora interrupted.
I smiled and laughed as Amu's face that had just calmed down glowed brightly all over again, "Yes, she and I belong to each other and with each other. We will not let a stupid kiddy king separate us. We may appear to be young, but we are actually adults already and we have no intention of letting that happen. Now, onto the rest of the story, we have many battles that we will need to fight and you two have a choice. Do you want to stay behind, or do you wish to help us fight and win against him? If you choose to stay behind that is okay, you are only 10-years old after all."
"I choose to fight!" Ami said angrily throwing her hands out and her sparks flew from her hands towards Amu and I's heads.
Amu quickly flashed her dagger up, used one drop from it and a red shield appeared in front of us absorbing her blast.
"Woah!" Sora exclaimed, "that was fast and awesome!"
"Ami are you okay?" Sora asked her as he ran up to his twin.
"I'm sorry Amu! I'm sorry Ikuto!" Ami said crying and collapsing on the floor. Then she flinched and pushed Amu and Sora away when they tried to hug her. "Get away! I'll hurt you."
"No Ami, you won't" Amu said forcing a hug on her while Sora refused to let her go. "You are angry over what Midori and Tsumugu did. You are angry over what the red-eyed king did. You are angry because that was the start of everything falling apart for our nice normal family. Well, I would like you to understand something Amai. Things stopped being normal the day I turned 7, it's just that no one else but Ikuto, his parents and I knew it. Besides, this is our normal. Normal is in the eye of the beholder. It is different for everyone. To Kukai and Utau's family, we were the weird ones. Why? Because we aren't werewolves, well three out four aren't. Ikuto and I will never be afraid of you. One more thing, don't worry about hurting us, we can heal each other. Your blast of power will not hurt us and soon it will become a great asset to our cause. We accept you into our fight and we will find a way for you to control it."
Sora stood up when Ami stopped trembling and stepped away from his sisters. "I want to fight with you Amu" Sora said sadly. "But, what good can I do? I'm a dog. I have no special powers. I can't start things on fire like Ami. I can't move things like Ikuto. Finally, I will never be able to do half the things you do. I mean look at what you just did with the shield! So, because I have no special powers except growing hair, I'll stay back that way I don't become a hinderance to you."
"Sora, you aren't a dog. You are a wolf. You are still a pup, true, but you are a wolf. You are just like Kukai and Utau and they are mean in a fight. They can train you and you will be allowed to help us. I wouldn't have it any other way." Amu said looking up from the ground while still holding Ami.
"What's this talk about us being dogs?" Utau said coming out of the den. "Sorry Amu, Ikuto, but you two were taking too long. I wanted to officially meet our new pack member."
Sora looked at the ground too nervous to look up at the blonde-haired girl. "I'm Sora" he mumbled.
"Yo Sora! We ain't gonna bite ya" Kukai said walking up to his Luna. He held out his hand to Sora. "But Utau is right, we ain't dogs. We are wolves and we don't back down from a fight. We work as a team. We are family. We all have different color hair, we all have different strengths and weakness, but this is what makes us unstoppable. We learn what our own strengths and weaknesses are, become paired with the ones that will help our own weakness as their strength and boom! Each team, as long as they work together, will always win. Then we have teams working with other teams, so it makes us two to five times stronger than the average pack. We will help your sister and yes you are young, but you will be probably be the one and only pups allowed to go on this little adventure, only because your sister said you can."
"So, you'll train me?" Sora asked looking them in the eyes and hoping that he heard them right. "You'll help me help my sisters?"
"Of course, we will. But understand don't call us dogs again. We are wolves, strong, fierce, caring, and undefeatable, unless you're a vampire with the ability to immobilize us" Utau said holding out her hand and smiling at Amu. "Now, let's go meet the rest of the pack."
(Amu's pov)
As the days went by, Ami and Sora became more comfortable with who and what they were. It was good to see them again and I loved to see them smile. Sora was even able to keep his hair from growing. He looked like a normal kid again, unless he got excited or angry.
"Utau?" I said as I walked up to her. "I hate to ask this but, Ikuto and I need to continue our journey to find anyone else willing to help us on the way back to Tōji kingdom. I mean the kingdom that Ikuto is from. Would it be okay with you and Kukai and as long as Sora could, well, if he could –" I stumbled over my words.
"Spit it out Amu!" she told me impatiently.
"Can I leave Sora here to train? Please Utau. I can't help him the way you guys can" I asked her softly while looking at her in the eyes.
"Amu, you know we already accepted him as pack" she told me. "You have a job to do. Go. Get your support. We will meet up with you when the time is right. We will take care of him, I promise" Utau said smiling.
"Thank you Utau" I said hugging her.
Over the next few days, we broke the news to Sora. He cried but understood and promised to be ready when we were going into our final battle. Ikuto, Ami and I left Sora with Kukai and Utau around 2 weeks after they were banished. Now that we had their blessing, we went through their territory to leave the forest and find more help.
Author's notes:
Amai: sweetie
Nikki: Thank you for your review and encouragement I hope you continue reading the story. It makes me smile whenever I see what you thought of each chapter.
sweetXDmelody: Thank you for understanding. I hope this chapter makes up for the updates being a little slower. Ami and Sora will be okay. They will learn how to control their powers and they will see that it doesn't matter what they can or can't do, what matters is that they stay true to who they are.
Our real abilities in life (i.e. arts, dance, language, construction, inventing, whatever it is) they are all different and strange because we do it our own way, but that is what makes life fun, interesting and eventful. If we don't grow or have different abilities, we might as well all be clones. We also need to learn to support those differences in each other no matter how weird they are to the other person.
