~Laxus and Mira~
Mira squealed when Master announced that Lisanna and Bickslow as her and Laxus' escorts. She smiled to herself as a blush dusted her sister's cheeks as she shushed her causing Laxus to chuckle at his mate and her sister. Laxus grabbed their bags and nodded to Bickslow as he and Lisanna started walking towards the doors of the guildhall. Laxus rested his hand on Mira's lower back ushering her along to follow their escort. Once outside the guildhall Laxus removed his hand from her lower back and Mira grabbed his hand in her own smiling up at him. Laxus smiled back and quickly looked away causing Mira to giggle.
"So…" Mira whispered to Laxus causing him to look back at her. He raised an eyebrow at her to tell her to continue. "Don't you think Bickslow and Lisanna would be the cutest couple?" She asked a little louder knowing her sister and his fellow Thunder Legion partner would hear. He watched as both of them tensed but continued walking. Laxus shook his head and knew better than to argue with Mira and figured it would be fun to play along.
"Yeah. I can see it. I mean I do believe Bicks had mentioned how pretty Lisanna is before to me and Freed once." Laxus replied at the same volume as Mira's seeing the stream coming from Bickslow's face as he turned around at the couple.
"Laxus! What the hell man!" Bickslow yelled as his babies fly around the couple.
"Really!?" Mira squealed squeezing Laxus' hand jumping slightly with glee written all over her face. She quickly let go of Laxus' hand and ran towards her sister linking her arm with Lisanna. "Did you hear that! He thinks you're pretty! Tell him how you like him!" Mira quickly called out.
"Mira! Shut up! Bicks, lets get these two to their damn cabin." Lisanna mumbled looking at the ground with a glowing red face. Mira smirked and let Lisanna lead her towards the cabin as the men followed bickering between them.
"You're welcome." Laxus mumbled to Bickslow who glared at his leader.
"I was gonna tell her. I didn't know how she left but I have an idea now." Bickslow chuckled as the cabin came into view. "So a month away with Mira huh?"
"Yeah."
"You nervous?" He asked quietly as they slowed to separate themselves from the girls but keeping them in eyesight.
"Yeah. I mean the guild may have forgave me for the Battle of Fairy Tail but I mean how can I? I made our family fight each other. How can they forgive me that quickly?" Laxus asked watching his mate talk animatedly with her sister.
"But you have changed. You've grown. They have all seen that and it wasn't just you it was all of us. All of the Thunder Legion. You think its going to be easy for any of us though? Lisanna knows the parts I played in that. Plus think about Grajeel and Levy's situation. I think we may actually get off easy." Bickslow said as they made it the cabin. Laxus knew he was right but he still couldn't bring himself to forgive himself yet.
"Come on guys!" Lisanna called and the boys finished walking the rest of the way to catch up with the girls. Lisanna handed Mira the key and smiled at the couple. "Freed will by later to activate the enchantment so don't try to attack him later kay." She smiled the signature Strauss sister smile. Laxus and Mira nodded as the escorts turned to leave.
"Have fun going home you two! Make sure my sister gets back to Fairy Hills safe Bickslow!" Mira called as the two waved at them and Laxus grabbed Mira's hand.
"Come on, let's get inside. I wanna see what the old man has cooked up." Laxus mumbled as he ushered the silver haired girl inside. Once the two were in the door the dragon slayer closed the door behind them and looked around the entryway. The layout was simple and open. The living room was connected to the kitchen separated by a half wall. The living room had a large cream sofa with a matching arm chair facing a bricked fireplace with a TV above it. Mira wondered into the kitchen taking stock of the stainless steel appliances and the stocked pantry and cabinets.
"I wonder when the Master had time to get all these ready." Mira wondered out loud. Laxus grunted and shrugged his shoulders.
"Let's check out the upstairs. I wanna put these bags down." Laxus said heading towards the stairs leading up to the second level. Mira nodded and followed him as they checked out the spare bedroom that was the first door to the left of the second level. The next door right across from the spare room was the floor bathroom. The couple moved to the last door at the end of the hallway and opened it suspecting it was the master bedroom. Mira gasped at the master bedroom. The walls were a light shade of gray contrasting the dark wooden floor and light yellow plush area rug. On the area rug was a king size bed in the middle of the wall opposite of the bedroom door. The bed had several gray pillows piled against the headrest that complimented the light gray and pale yellow cheveron comforter set. The dresser and wardrobe set matching the cherry oak red bedframe and nightstands on either side of the bed.
Laxus was the first to break the silence as he dropped their bags and walked towards the door to their right and opened it walking in. The lightning dragon slayer took in the large master bath and smiled at the large bathtub that he knew he would see Mira in sooner rather than later. The marble sink and counter matched the edging of the tub and the outside of the walk in shower.
"Gramps really out did himself with this." He said as he felt Mira walk up behind him looking around the bathroom as well. He heard her giggle and turned towards her.
"Yeah, but you know how Master is. Nothing is too good for his children!" Mira smiled walking over to Laxus and giving him a peck on the cheek. "Now how about I go make some dinner while you take a quick shower and clean up."
"Yes ma'am." Laxus mumbled in a mocking fashion causing Mira to quirk an eyebrow at him challenging him. She quickly dismissed it and walked out of the bathroom and to the first floor into the kitchen debating on what to make. She walked over to the fridge and opened the door staring at the various foods that she could make. The takeover mage grabbed the small container of hamburger meat and looked at the boxes of pastas that were lining the counter and decided that an easy dinner for the first night would be fine since it was late anyways. She quickly grabbed a pot filling it with water to setting it on the stove to start it boiling. She sprinkled salt into the pot and a few dashes of oil to make sure that the noodles would not stick once they are added.
Mira heard the water start upstairs as she started getting the ingredients to start making meatballs from scratch. She turned back to the stove turning on the oven to start the preheating. She quickly combined the ingredients and started forming the balls and placing them on a baking sheet evenly spaced before putting them in the heated oven. The water on the stove started boiling at this point and Mira deposited a small amount of spaghetti noodles in the pot and stirred them til they were fully in the water to cook. She grabbed a sauce pan and deposited the ingredients for the marinara sauce and stirred the ingredients together combining them to a smooth consistency. Mira was absent mindedly stirring the sauce and did not notice her dragon slayer watching her from the doorway of the kitchen. Freshly showered he was cladded in only a pair of lose gray sweatpants. He walked over to his mate wrapping his arms around her waist burying his nose in her neck kissing her shoulder.
"What are you thinking about?" Laxus asked bringing the takeover mage back to reality. She smiled leaning back into him for a moment before having to turn off the two stove burners. She detangled herself and grabbed the pot with the now cooked noodles to drain them.
"Us. Back in the day." Mira finally answered as she shook the noodles of the loose water and deposited them back into the pot as the oven dinged signaling the meatballs were done. She grabbed a towel and quickly removed the baking sheet from the oven setting it on the now vacant burner.
"You mean when we were kids?" Laxus inquired further as Mira was transferring the cooked meatballs into the sauce coating them thoroughly. Mira looked over at him and nodded turning back to the task at hand. "What about exactly?"
"About our first date." Mira blushed as she finished the food and moved to the cabinets and grabbed glasses and plates and started setting the table. Laxus already grabbed silverware and a beer for himself and wine for the silver-haired woman. Mira smiled at him as they sat down to eat.
"I think about that day a lot." Laxus comments after several minutes of the two eating in silence. Mira perked up looking at him with surprised eyes. Mira still loved the dragon slayer ever since they were young. The knowledge of him thinking about those days made her heart flutter. She stayed silent urging the man across from her to continue. "It's been my favorite day so far. Okay maybe second to the day I confessed to you." A light blush dusted the man's face as he turned back to his food.
"That is my favorite day too." Mira smiled warmly at him. "I still love you Laxus, after all this time it seems like we finally are getting that happy ever after you promised back then." Mira said into her glass as she sipped at her wine.
"I love you still too Mirajane." Laxus confessed staring into the love of his life's eyes. "I will spend every day of my life making sure you know that and make up for everything else." Laxus continued as he gulped down half of his beer. Mira cocked her head to the side and looked at him quizzically.
"What do you mean make up for everything?" She questioned as she finished her plate. Seeing Laxus had finished she collected the dishes setting them in the sink to be washed as she put the leftovers away.
"I mean for everything I did to you, gramps, Fairy Tail, our family." Laxus said. Mira watched as he stood finishing his beer tossing the bottle in the trash. He walked over to the sink starting to do the dishes.
"You don't have anything to make up for Laxus. You have done so much for us that you don't need to make up for anything." Mira spoke softly as she walked up to the hulking man resting her hand on his arm. "I can do this dear." She said gesturing to the dishes. Laxus shook his head jerking his chin to her abandoned wine glass.
"I got it. Sit, relax." Laxus stated and his mate nodded moving back to her seat refilling the glass and taking a drink. "I have so much to still redeem myself for." Laxus continued. Mira knew better to interrupt. The lightning mage does not open up so the fact that he was willing to speak freely she would not ruin it. "I hurt our family. I really thought the battle of Fairy Tail was something that we needed. I was obviously wrong. I was becoming like my father. Plus when all that was going down with Phantom Lord I was being a jackass and said some really awful things and I should have been there for you guys. Gramps was right to excommunicate me. I hate it being way from you, but he was right to do so. I had to learn what I did was wrong. If he were to let me stay… I-I don't think I would have learned…" Laxus stated as he finished the dishes and dried his hands on the dish towel and leaned back against the counter crossing his arms over his chest. "And I wasn't there for you… When we were kids… When Lisanna happened." He whispered looking at the floor with a frown on his face in shame. The time his mate needed him the most he wasn't there for her.
Mira had finished her wine by the time Laxus was finished and tears were in her eyes knowing now how much he still felt guilty over things that he has already redeemed himself for. She got up from the chair walking over to him grabbing his arms and wrapping them around her as she wrapped her arms around him. "Listen to me Laxus Dreyar, what has happened in the past is the past. Everyone has forgiven you and loves you still. We know you were going through a lot. Yes it did hurt when you left… But you are right. You had to leave, you had to see the errors in your ways and you did. You came back stronger than ever. You are a good man Laxus and I know that. We all know that. We are lucky to have you. As for what happened with Lisanna I don't hold that against you. You were dealing with your own family stuff. I had to take care of Elfman anyways. Please see yourself how I see you… This incredibly strong, handsome, courageous man that I fell in love with when I was just thirteen years old. The man that I want to be mated to forever, to have a future and a family with." Mira stated with tears in her eyes.
Laxus felt his throat constricted hearing the words and feel the love coming off of his mate. He felt the familiar stinging in his eyes and she blinked and cleared his throat as he nodded burying his face in Mira's hair trying to get control of his emotions again. He tightened his arms around Mira kissing her hair as she tightened her arms around his waist. Mira moved back gazing into the warm gray eyes and smiled at him and rested her hands on either side of his face pulling him down to her. Laxus followed the mage's lead and let his eyes close as her soft lips came into contact with his. He grabbed her hips pulling her closer as he pressed against her lips keeping it soft though. He turned his head letting their lips slide together at a more comfortable position. Laxus nibbled at her bottom lip asking for permission that Mira quickly consented and opened her mouth. Laxus tongue slipped in between her lips licking and tasting the sweetest taste he has ever experienced. The two's tongues fought for dominance and Laxus growled into her as he grabbed her ass getting a squeak out of her as she gave into him and let him win. He quickly had to pull apart for air. He rested his forehead against hers.
"God I love you Mira." Laxus whispered finally opening his eyes meeting the deep blue ocean eyes.
"I love you too." Mira breathed back with a twinkle in her eye. The two pulled back as Laxus looked over at the clock on the wall noticing the late time.
"Come on I know you wanna take a shower and we should be getting to bed soon. We have a lot to talk about this coming month and I rather do that tomorrow." Laxus said swatting at Mira's rear causing her to jump and giggle at the man in front of her. She nodded turning and quickly rushed up the stairs to take a shower. The dragon slayer leaned backed against the sink taking a deep breath collecting his thoughts. He stood there for several minutes before pushing off the counter walking over and collecting Mira's empty wine glass and quickly washed it letting it drain to put away in the morning and put the wine bottle in the fridge. He turned off the lights in the kitchen and made sure the front door was locked before walking toward the stairs noticing two doors a little past the stairs. He walked towards them opening the first one that was right next to the kitchen. He poked his head in seeing it was a half bath and closed the door moving to the next one and smiled as he opened it noticing it led to an enclosed indoor pool area. It was not large but it was a surprise for sure. A surprise he couldn't wait to share with the takeover mage upstairs. He heard the water turn off upstairs and he closed the door deciding to keep this secret to at least tomorrow. He walked up the stairs to the room they were sharing seeing her in a pastel blue silk nightgown that had black lace at the sweet heart neckline. He swallowed as he stripped out of the sweats and made his way over to the bed climbing in yawning. Mira followed suit and climbed in turning towards the slayer smiling taking his hand in hers. The two faced each other holding one another as they both slipped into a peaceful sleep.
