Hiccup's POV

I've been in bad situations before. Seriously I have: near death experiences, war, a bounty. But this...this is hard.

Firstly, I hyped Eret on to express his feelings. I just didn't know those feelings were for my betrothed. I can't tell Eret to back off since it is partly my fault and if I tell Astrid she's not gonna be pleased (I can't risk losing another limb).

"What should I do bud?" Toothless just yawned and went back to sleep. "Your right. I should get some rest and not worry." That didn't help either...

What if he proposes to her and she leaves me for him? I haven't had a chance to do anything romantic with her. I mean sure Eret is tall and strong and the ideal viking but.. ha.. it's not like shewillfallforhimandmarryhimandgiveuponmeandimheartbrokenforever...right

Eret's POV

She liked it! Astrid loved the axe AND today I get to spend the entire day with her. I told myself that today I will ask her to go out with me. First me, Skullcrusher and her and Stormfly will fly about and do some training. Then I will pack dinner, we eat on a beautiful beach, I pop the question and the valkyrie hopefully says yes. I thought today will be perfect except for one thing.

Me and the gang were in the hall for the morning meeting with Hiccup about the schedule for the day. Hiccup came in. He looked tired... then glared at me. Did I do something wrong? Anyway...

"Today I decided to have a day off chiefing so I can spend more time with my friends. I have left Gobber and my mum in charge so Berk is in safe hands. You are all dismissed."

I was about to get Astrid when Hiccup came up to her.

"Hey Astrid, I was wondering if you would like to hang today since it's been forever and I've missed you."

"Aww I missed you too. Of course. You can join me and Eret today-"

"Eret?"

"Yes chief, do you have a problem with that?" I was beginning to wonder if I really did make a mistake.

"No, no... that's great. We will ALL spend the day together."

We all got on our dragons and flew off.

Astrid's POV

Hiccup was acting weird today. First, he never takes a break from chiefing unless I force him to. Second, he was giving Eret the cold shoulder for no reason. Something is up and I'm getting to the bottom of it.

"So I was wondering if we could all do some combat first. I really want to see this bad boy in action" as I swung my new axe.

(Hiccup and Eret) "Of course!"

We landed in the arena and got our weapons

Hiccup's POV

"So who wants to go first?" I was about to answer but stupid Eret got to it. Wait, why am I thinking like this? Oh wait, cause this guy is trying to woo my girlfriend.

Astrid and Eret sparred for a while. They were both beginning to sweat as Astrid's axe and Eret's sword clashed again. Eventually Astrid won.

"Dont get too cocky Astrid, I let you win."

"Sure you did." She SMILED at him. An actual, genuine SMILE.

"Hey Eret! You and me." I called.

"You sure. You don't look like a challenge, no offense."

"Don't underestimate him, Eret. He's been the closest in beating me."

"Alright. Game on!"

I lit inferno up. We clashed our weapons. Eret ran straight for me and I decided to trip him. Somehow he dodged it and pinned me down. I tried to push him away with my sword. I successfully did so and got back on my feet (foot). I was getting annoyed and charged at him... bad choice. Eret tripped me up, knocked out my weapon and won. I lost. In front of Astrid. Well done me.

"Well that was a heated battle." Astrid congratulated Eret and helped me up.

"Good game chief. You are more than what you seem." I grinned forcefully at him.

"Thank you." We decided to go for a flight on our dragons. Now I can outshine Eret. Not that it's a competition or anything.

Toothless' POV

I can tell that my rider was annoyed. Mainly due to how hard he gripped his saddle when his mate and Eret shared a joke. I'm loving this.We landed on a beach. Strangely the gang were there as well. I went up to Meatlug."What's happening?""Oh the former killer is going to ask your rider's mate to be his mate and asked us to come. Fishlegs looked worried but Snotlout and the twins brought food and are ready for the disaster. ""Well this should be interesting..."Hiccup's POV

We landed on a beach with the gang there. Fishlegs looked worried while Snotlout and the twins whispered something and sniggered.

Then Eret came up to Astrid. This is it.

"Astrid, I gave you this axe and took you to this beach today because-"

Astrid stopped him. "I'm not stupid. I know that you did this cause you like me. Your not the first muttonhead. Anyway, sorry Eret you are a great guy but-"

"Astrid is MY BETROTHED so back off... sorry. Look Eret I didn't know the axe was for her. I thought it was for Heather. I'm sorry for leading you to believe that Astrid can be yours. But I love her." Astrid came up to me and gave me a sweet kiss.

"Oh! I am so sorry chief. I didn't know she was with you. Please forgive me."

I accepted his apology.

"Oh come on, I worked my ass of all morning to see the Hiccup vs Eret showdown and this is what I get." Astrid called Stormfly over.

"Let's play catch, girl." The nadder took Snotlout and threw him in the water.

"Fine, nevermind. I'm happy that it all went well. Hookfang get your butt over here now!"

Everyone went back to the village after the fiasco. Me and Astrid stayed behind.

"Look Astrid I'm sorry for being the biggest idiot ever. I'm glad were past this."

"Who said we were past this?""Huh?"

Stormfly grabbed me and threw me in the ocean. She picked me up and dropped me on shore.

"That's for letting someone ask me out."

"I know, I know-" Then Astrid kissed me on the lips and I returned it with as much passion as I can.

"That's for fixing this mistake without breaking anyone's heart... maybe Snotlout's but he doesn't count."

I pulled her in and gave her another kiss. "Your welcome milady."

We sat on the beach and watched the sunset as our dragons played in the water.

Sorry if the ending should have been better.
