Lucifer stands up to look for someone to talk to as Chloe continues to work through her papers. He takes his flask out to get a sip as Detective Dan Espinoza walks to Chloe. That gave Lucifer a chance to do something.
"Detective Douche." Lucifer says jokingly as he mocks Dan who is coming up at the shoulder with him.
"What?" Dan says aggressively as he is trying to be patient. Every nerve in his body is telling him to move and do his work. "I am kind of busy working on a case of my own. Also Trixie won't stop talking about keeping the cats at home. It's kind of driving me insane."
"Well, that is so much better!" Lucifer exclaims with a smile, "The little urchin should need more. I would be delighted to give the three furry insects to her from my home."
Shaking his head, Dan holds out his hands to halt Lucifer then says, "No, man. I am not letting you give my daughter the three cats you are responsible for." He walks away then turns to ask curiously, "I didn't know Chloe would allow someone who is the most irresponsible person with three cats to keep for five days. What is she thinking?"
He walks away to meet up with Chloe. Lucifer holds back to find Dan is talking to his ex-wife like always. Dan will no way come back to Chloe again after their divorce.
Chloe was still doing her work when Lucifer disappeared off somewhere else in the precinct. Dan sits down by her desk and asks, "So, Chloe. I've been thinking lately about Trixie and what she might be feeling. Is she alright with the cats and Maze together in that one apartment?"
Chloe takes a minute as she keeps her head to her work. She simply answers, "They'll do alright. The cats are no problem. Thankfully, Maze is out doing her job on finding her bounty. She hasn't found the person yet. So for the moment when Trixie is at school, the place is fine."
"Yeah, but you let the least responsible person with the most cats. Doesn't that not seem to worry you?" Dan asks as he stands up to hold his hands down on the side of Chloe's desk. Chloe looks up to her ex-husband and comments, "Lucifer will be fine, Dan. The least he could do is starve them or keep them out of his night club. If that's the case, I would go over and give him a good talk. This is probably his first time with pets."
She turns back to her work when Dan mutters under his breath, "Or anything with a heartbeat..."
Chloe says out loud to herself, "The right place to look for an investigation is the Humane Society where our last suspect works."
Dan takes his hands off to remark, "Then that might be where the victim's killer could be. I'll let you get on with that."
"Mhmm." Chloe nods without thinking as Dan heads off to work his own case on a bombing from this morning. Chloe gets up from her desk and asks out loud to no one, "Where is Lucifer?"
After she stands there for a minute, Lucifer comes back with a bagel and mug of coffee. He gives them to her and says, "I guess you are done, Detective. Where to then?"
"Rescue shelter, but it's nearing four pm. It's my turn to pick up Trixie from the school then take care of the cats. You should do that as well. Isn't boring your thing?" Chloe says as she smiles taking a bite from the bagel having her gaze a little on Lucifer. She picks up her keys to head out to the parking garage.
Lucifer shouts with offense to that, "No, boring is not my thing, Detective!"
Ella comes out of the forensic room with the cat food bag. She enthusiastically says, "Don't want to forget this. Too important for the little guys!"
Lucifer just smiles as Ella gives him the big food bag. Then she leaves as Lucifer frowns with a retort, "Bloody hell! Maybe my life has become boring after all."
