Chapter 13
"Ascension"
Eon sat in a meditative position on a lone floating pedestal a short distance away from where Drakken and the Huntsclan were working on Eon's machine. Dark and Alpha's pods had been hooked up to a much larger machine. In the center was a platform with several harnesses and tubes positioned perfectly to hook up into Eon.
"It's almost time…" Eon said only to himself. His past failures flashed into his mind. His bodies turning into dust, succumbing to Tennyson's strength, time after time. But not anymore. He would ascend to godhood. He'd ascend past the need for the Omnitrix to survive. And his first act as a god, would be to destroy Ben Tennyson.
A huntsclan soldier ran up to Eon, breathing very heavily. "Sir! Several life forms have entered through a rift in the Ghost Zone! What will you have us do?"
Eon let out a heavy sigh. "So it begins." He began. "Alert your leader, and have him call in the locals we recruited. Tennyson and his allies must not be allowed to interrupt my ascension."
The Specter Speeder emerged in the Ghost Zone alongside Danny. The heroes gazed out of the half dome window of the ship to awe at the vast majesty of the Ghost Zone. It was a green void obscured in green and purple mists. Countless doors of various styles and sizes floated in the void.
"What's with those doors, Danny?" Kim said into the communicator.
Danny put a finger up to his ear, pressing on his ear piece to respond. "The doors usually lead to the lairs of various low to lower mid-level ghosts. Others lead to completely different points in time and space back in the real world." He explained. "In short, steer clear of them. The last thing we need is to get lost in time."
"Understood." Rex said, his voice shook slightly at the thought of becoming lost in time, especially in such dire times.
"Not gonna lie, dog," Jake grinned from ear to ear as he looked outside. "This is cooler than anything back home."
"How many times have you said that?" Ben laughed.
"Hey man, sorry we don't all go to different universes at least once a week." Jake replied.
"You'll get used to it." Ben shrugged.
"How many times have you said that on this adventure?" Kim questioned him.
"More times than I'm proud of." Ben laughed.
Suddenly an explosion rocked the ship and sent it tumbling out of control.
"What the hell was that!?" Rex cried out.
"Kim, grab the controls!" Jake yelled.
Kim managed to right herself as the ship spiraled. She grabbed the controls and attempted to right the ship. "It's no good!" She cried out to the others. "We're going down!"
The Specter Speeder crashed into a floating island. Danny rushed down to check on his teammates.
"What the hell was that!?" Danny ripped the Specter Speeder's door off as he rushed in to check the status of his teammates. "Jazz," He tapped his earpiece. "What just hit us!?"
"I'm getting multiple readings! Two ghosts accompanied by a few hundred human energy signatures!" Jazz's voice responded as several drones flew to investigate.
Just as swiftly as the drones swooped into action, they were taken out by several ecto-energy blasts. "Damn it!" Jazz said into the communicator. "I'm blind! I've got no units left! I'm sorry Danny…but you guys are on your own."
"Don't worry, we'll handle it from here." Danny ended the communication. "Is everyone alright?" Danny watched as his teammates stood up shakily.
"Yeah…but what was that?" Ben asked.
"It sounds like Eon's mobilized his forces to stall us." Danny explained. "And he's got ghosts on his payroll."
"Well good thing we got a ghost of our own." Rex smiled. "Let's take the fight to them, now!"
"Alright team, as always, watch each other's backs." Ben said. "They may have numbers, but we have teamwork."
"Sounds good, Ten-Dawg." Jake smiled. "Alright, Dragon Up!"
Jake's body morphed into his draconic form, now constantly crackling with electricity. Blue mist seemed to constantly float off his body, and his eyes, mouth, and wings were glowing with flames.
Rex used his legs to form the Sky Slyder, a hoverboard with glowing circular ends. It hummed to life and Rex began floating off the ground.
Kim pressed a button on the wrist of her suit, and it hummed to life, crackling with blue energy. A jetpack emerged from the back of her suit, firing its jets to warm up. "Let's do this…"
"Alright, it's Hero Time!" Ben slammed the Omnitrix down hard and began to transform.
Ben's body became very pale as he grew slightly taller, his ears grew to be pointed and his teeth transformed into fangs. White fur grew around his neck as his back hunched slightly. His legs became reverse jointed as his feet and hands turned into claws. A green crown-like growth grew around his head as wings sprouted from his arms. The Omnitrix flashed on his left pec.
"Whampire!" He cried in a very thick accent. "Alright, let's go!"
The team took flight and as soon as they did, they could see the opposing army as the mist cleared. Rex was the first one to enter the fray. He quickly collapsed the Sky Slyder and his arms grew into the Smack Hands. He dove straight into the small army of Huntsclan soldiers. Rex effortlessly batted away the soldiers as they attempted to jump him. He collapsed one Smack Hand and exchanged it for a Funchuck. Rex slammed the nunchuck machine into the ground and unleashed a powerful energy pulse that cleared his immediate surroundings of soldiers. "Come on, is this all you got?!" Rex taunted, and swung the Funchuck into several soldiers who approached him, brandishing katana and spears.
Rex continued to toy with the Huntsclan, completely unaware of an incoming missile emitting green flames. It hit Rex in his back, sending him flying and soliciting a cry of pain. His machines collapsed and he rolled across the ground. Rex managed to stand and face his newest attacker. Just by its appearance, Rex assumed he must've been a ghost. It was a being made of green flames contained in a black high-tech suit. Its black head floated in green flames sprouting from the top of his techno-armor. But there was a second face in the center of its stomach, its eyes resembling lenses.
"And just who are you, bolt head?" Rex asked, as he summoned the Big Fat Sword on his right arm.
The ghost spoke in a dual voice, coming from the face on his chest and the one in the flames. The chest's voice was higher pitched, while the flame head had a deeper voice. "We are SkulkTech 9.9, a combination of the ghosts Skulker and Technus. We have combined our technology and battle capabilities to become the ultimate ghost!"
"Dude, I so don't care!" Rex scoffed and then swung the sword at SkulkTech.
SkulkTech countered by forming a flaming sword from his arm. The two blades clashed, and the battle was on. Rex and SkulkTech swung their swords at each other several times, their blades meeting and causing shockwaves and loud clanging sounds. Rex jumped back and replaced the BFS with the Slam Cannon. He quickly loaded it, taking a chunk of rock from the platform they stood on. He took aim at SkulkTech's chest and fired. SkulkTech phased through the attack with ease and activated a chain with hook on his free arm. He threw it at Rex, wrapping him up in the chain and forcing the Slam Cannon to collapse. "Ergh…you're one giant pain in the ass." Rex growled. He attempted to form a machine on his arms, but it quickly broke down. SkulkTech's chain had too tight of a grip.
"Your puny human machines are no match for our technology." SkulkTech chuckled.
"Then how about this!" A voice called out as an Ecto-energy infused fist struck SkulkTech, causing him to lose his balance and loosened the chain around Rex. The fist was attached to Danny, who floated where SkulkTech once was.
"Thanks for the assist." Rex held his hand up to Danny before forming the Smack Hands.
"No problem." Danny nodded. "This guy is tech-based. You might be able to use your Nanites to shut him down."
"Might as well give it a try. Care to assist?" Rex asked.
"You got it." Danny smiled. The two heroes rushed SkulkTech, reigniting the battle.
Kim unleashed a powerful roundhouse kick into a soldier's neck, causing him to fly limply through the air and skid across the ground. Kim started up a sprint to take on several other soldiers, but was intercepted by a green blast of energy that struck the ground in front of her. Kim called up her shield to protect herself from the debris and explosion. Shego emerged from the dust, glowing with green energy. She still wore the rather revealing green and black body suit.
"Hello, Kimmy." Shego smiled. "Ready for another round?"
"Hey Shego, I forgot to ask, but when did you start dressing like such a slut?" Kim taunted with a smile.
Shego yelled in anger, charging Kim with energy-charged fists. Kim converted her shield into glowing blue energy around her hands and ran towards Shego. They each threw out a punch that met as they closed in. The resulting explosion forced them both back several feet. Kim was the first to recover, she fired several low-level energy bolts at Shego. Shego effortlessly deflected the blasts and flipped in the air towards Kim. Shego landed a deadly kick into Kim's chest, and an audible crack could be heard. Kim cried out in pain as Shego broke one of her ribs.
"Bitch…" Kim growled in pain.
"That language doesn't suit you young lady." Shego let out a tsk tsk, before swinging her leg towards Kim's head. Kim brought up her arm in defense, enhancing it with her suit's energy. The force from the kick would've probably broken Kim's arm if she hadn't used her suit. Shego had grown much stronger since they last fought on a regular basis. Kim grabbed Shego's leg while it was still raised and used all her strength to fling her away. A stabbing pain forced an audible gasp out of Kim. She fell to one knee as her rib continued to radiate pain in her chest.
"Aww Kimmy, are you hurting?" Shego laughed as she approached Kim. "Here, I'll make it stop." Shego raised her hand in the air as it overflowed with green energy. She brought her arm down towards Kim's neck at blinding speeds, going for the killing blow.
"Not so fast, you glowing bitch!" A monstrous voice roared. Jack swooped in and smacked Shego off balance with his tail.
Jake landed next to Kim. "Are you okay?"
"It's…my rib…" Kim gasped, holding her chest.
"Oh no biggy, girl." Jake nodded. "Check this out." Jake placed his hands on her chest.
"Ack, what do you think you're touching!?" Kim growled and attempted to push Jake away.
"Oh come on, don't make it weird." Jake shook his head. His hands began to radiate blue mist that formed around her chest.
The pain began to recede and soon the mist died away. Kim looked to her chest and then up to Jake in astonishment. "What did you..!?"
"Dragon healing, I learned it on our down time back at the Plumber Base." Jake smiled, showing his sharp teeth, flames leaking in between. "I can't use it too much at once but you should hold up for awhile until we can get you to a doctor."
Kim smiled. "Thanks Jake."
"No problem, need any help with this bitch?" Jake asked.
Kim shook her head. "No, she's mine." She looked at an incoming mob of Huntsclan soldiers. "Keep those soldiers off of us."
"Now that I can do." Jake let out a challenging roar and sped off to engage the Huntsclan.
"You little…brat!" Shego growled at Kim as she rushed the heroine.
Kim stood and entered a battle stance, blue energy crackling along her suit. "Round two, you old hag!"
Whampire was making quick work of the Huntsclan soldiers. The vampiric alien laughed in glee as he drained their energy. He didn't drain them completely, only enough to knock them out. But it made Whampire stronger, either way.
"This is like a buffet!" Whampire let out a gleeful laugh. "Come on, losers! Is that all you got?"
It was at that moment that Whampire was alerted to a menacing presence. He looked down to where his instincts were screaming. The Huntsman stood there, brandishing his staff, and of course, wielding the Nemetrix.
"Oh come on, I thought I dusted you." Whampire groaned.
"You may have sent me hurtling into the cosmos, changeling," The Huntsman began. "However, my associates managed to recover me. Supposedly, I'm instrumental to their plans."
"I'm sorry, did I give you the impression I cared?" Whampire scoffed. "You want round two with your bootlegitrix?"
"You'll see that this battle will not end like our last." The Huntsman charged at Whampire, holding his staff out, ready to strike.
Whampire easily dodged Huntsman's initial attack, strafing to the right in the air. The Huntsman was ready though, and quickly swung the bladed end of his staff in Whampire's direction. The blade struck home, leaving a shallow cut in Whampire's side.
"Gah! God dammit!" Whampire cursed. "Listen here you skull-headed freak! I'm not gonna put up with your crap this time!"
"Amusing how you think you have the choice." The Huntsman laughed. His staff's blade charged with energy and he swung at Whampire again. The Vladat carefully caught the staff, making sure to avoid the glowing blade.
"I don't want you getting excited just because I'm gripping your rod." Whampire quipped. He planted his feet into the ground and ripped Huntsman's staff out of his grip with all his might. Whampire flung the staff off of the platform and into the abyss of the Ghost Zone.
The Huntsman glanced to where the staff disappeared. "Fool, I was offering you a handicap in this fight." He laughed, seemingly satisfied with the current events. "Now I'll go all out!" The Huntsman punched Whampire in his nose, stunning him. Whampire stumbled back, gripping his face.
"Oww dude, come on." Whampire shook his head. "Nose shots are cheap." Whampire's Omnitrix flashed green, changing him into…
"Benwooooooolf!" The Loboan howled. "Alright, let's go you Kraven the Hunter ripoff!" Benwolf rushed towards The Huntsman, slashing with his claws. The Huntsman nimbly dodged, bobbing and weaving between Benwolf's claws.
"Hmph, I'm an expert in magical creatures and you choose to turn into a werewolf?" The Huntsman laughed again. He seemed very confident in his control of the fight.
"Oh yeah? You ever seen a werewolf who can do this?" Benwolf's maw split into four flaps of skin and cartilage. He reeled back before unleashing a powerful shockwave, accompanied by Benwolf's howling. The Huntsman was flung back but dug his fist into the ground to regain his balance.
"Impressive indeed, changeling." The Huntsman righted himself, fixing his uniform. "Then I believe it's time to even the odds."
The Nemetrix flashed red, letting out a grotesque sound of The Huntsman's body morphing. The Huntsman fell to four legs as his body was covered in red and black fur. He grew a large hump in his back, and saber-like teeth jutted out of his growing maw.
"A Panuncian?" Benwolf scoffed. "Sorry Huntsdork, but that's not Benwolf's predator."
"No matter, it's abilities are what I'm looking for." The Huntsman's voice echoed. The Huntsman instantly duplicated into five different copies, and they all charged.
Benwolf growled and easily dodged a pouncing Panuncian. Benwolf grabbed a second out of the air and flung it towards a third. The fourth and fifth Panuncians charged Benwolf together, but the Loboan unleashed another howling shockwave that sent them flying off the platform. The first Panuncian got the jump on Benwolf, pouncing on his back and digging its fangs into Benwolf's back. Benwolf howled in excruciating pain. The second Panuncian gripped its teeth into Benwolf's leg, forcing him to a knee. The third Panuncian charged, going for Benwolf's throat. Benwolf, with only a moment to act, pressed down on the Omnitrix again, quickly shifting form.
"Wildvi-!" Wildvine's battle cry was promptly interrupted by the third Panuncian severing the alien's head. The other Panuncians released Wildvine's headless body, which seemed to fall limply to the ground. The Panuncians sat on their hind legs, seemingly rather proud of themselves. That is, until Wildvine's body seemed to shudder, and a new head grew on top of his body. "Come on, man," Wildvine groaned. "Don't interrupt my battle cry!"
Wildvine's arms grew large thorns before extending and sweeping the Panuncians before they had a chance to react. The beasts let out pained yelps as they were stabbed by the thorns. Wildvine then dug his arms into the ground and roots suddenly erupted around the Panuncians and bound them to the ground. Wildvine approached them, half walking, half slithering his way over to them.
"You won't be causing me any more trouble with that stupid Omnitrix ripoff." Wildvine said seriously. He pressed the Omnitrix once more, and quickly shifted into…
"Grey Matter!" The small grey alien cheered. He approached one of the pinned Panuncians, who attempted to snap at Grey Matter, but the Galvan was just out of his reach. "Sorry, pussy cat…dog…thing." Grey Matter approached the Nemetrix collar on the Huntsman's neck.
"No! What do you think you're doing!" The Huntsman cursed as he struggled against the vines.
"What I should've done a LONG time ago." Grey Matter said, slightly exasperated. He began inputting commands directly into the Nemetrix's interface. A red flash erupted from the device, and the Huntsman was reverted to his human form.
The Nemetrix spoke in a garbled, electronic voice. "All system functions disabled. Please contact administrator to reset." Grey Matter inputted a few more commands and the Nemetrix's core popped out of the device, leaving the Huntsman with the watch-like attachment stuck to his arm.
"No more predator DNA for you, or anyone else." Grey Matter smiled at the pinned Huntsman.
A green flash returned Ben to his human form. "I almost forgot." Ben pulled something from his belt, a glowing yellow grenade-like object. "Null Void Egg, new Plumber tech. I thought it might come in handy. It'll keep you nice and cozy until we can plop you back in your proper time."
"What! No!" The Huntsman struggled against the vines, but it was no use. Ben threw the egg at The Huntsman, and a yellow vortex began to absorb him into the egg. "No! Damn you, changeling! This isn't over!" His voice faded as he was sealed inside of the egg.
"I kinda think it is." Ben picked up the egg with a smile, reattaching it to his belt. "Now to help the others." Ben's form changed again in a flash of green light.
"Big Chill…" The large moth alien took flight towards where the chaos was most intense.
Rex dug his sword into the ground as he was thrown back, slowing himself down until he could get his footing. Danny rushed SkulkTech, flying past Rex. Danny's eyes were glowing green, overflowing with ecto-energy. Danny split into three duplicates that swarmed SkulkTech, flying around him at blinding speeds from multiple angles. SkulkTech fired energy blasts at the Danny's, but it was pointless. Danny was far too fast for SkulkTech to keep up. One Danny began firing an ice blast at SkulkTech. The second unleashed ghostly green flames. The third crackled with electricity that consumed SkulkTech. The dual ghost cried out in pain in both voices as all three Danny's overwhelmed him with the elements.
"Keep it up!" Rex called as he rushed to assist Danny. His arms shifted into the Bad Axes, twin axes glowing blue with energy. "Alright, now move!" Rex brought down the axes just as Danny disappeared from view. SkulkTech was still stunned from the triple attack, having no ability to react as Rex violently brought his axes down on SkulkTech's arms. The mechanical arms severed after some visible effort from Rex. SkulkTech roared in agony.
"You bastards! Do you know how much those cost!?" SkulkTech cursed.
"Don't know, don't care." Rex smiled. His arms returned to normal. "Now let's see if we can't shut you down." Rex placed a hand on SkulkTech's chest, and the reaction was immediate. Rex's arms lit up with blue circuitry that extended to SkulkTech's armored body.
"What are you doing!?" SkulkTech yelled, but his voices were quickly growing out of sync.
Rex's nanites were doing quite a number on SkulkTech's machinery. "How do you feel about being a paperweight, pendejo?" Rex's nanites whirred loudly and the circuitry extended across SkulkTech's body. The green lights, circuits, and flames of SkulkTech's body began to die out.
"Damn you, robot child!" SkulkTech said, his own voice echoing himself. SkulkTech's body seemed to go completely dormant, falling to the ground.
Danny reappeared next to Rex. "What the hell did you do to him?" He asked.
"Simple, just told his machinery to shut down for awhile." Rex shrugged as if it was no big deal. "He'll probably be down for at least a day. Won't be bothering us for awhile."
"Man, wish I could do that." Danny laughed. "Turning off my villains would be leagues easier."
"See when you say it like that, it makes it sound weird." Rex shook his head.
Danny chuckled, then tapped his communicator. "Team, status report."
"The Huntsman and the Nemetrix have been neutralized." Big Chill's voice echoed in response.
"I'm keeping the rest of the Huntsclan at bay." Jake spoke up. The roar of flames could be heard over the communicator. "But they're starting to become a pain. They're trying to close in on Kim. I don't know how much longer I can stall them!"
"Does anyone have sights on Eon?" Rex asked.
"There's a large machine maybe a couple miles past the Huntsclan." Big Chill said. "I'm going to head for him now."
"Got it." Rex said. "I'll join up with you, Ben. Between your technogoop guy and my Nanites, we should be able to shut it down."
"Kim? How ya doing?" Danny asked.
A pained grunt came from Kim. "Agh, Shego's proving to be more of a pain as usual." Explosions could be heard from her end.
"Got it, I'm on my way to you." Danny said, nodding.
"No!" Kim yelled. "Help Jake deal with the remaining Huntsclan. They'll only get in the way if they're allowed to stay in play! I'll handle Shego!" Kim's communicator cut out.
"Well, you heard the lady." Rex nodded to Danny as he formed the Sky Slyder from his legs.
"You and Ben better get that machine shut off." Danny told Rex. "Eon can't be allowed to see his plan succeed."
"I'm already on it!" Rex called as he rocketed off towards Big Chill and Eon's machine.
Kim dodged three consecutive punches from Shego, ducking lower with each attempt. She charged her fist with blue energy and uppercutted straight into Shego's jaw, lifting her off the ground by several inches. Kim jumped, spinning as she did. She used the momentum of the spin to enhance a powerful kick into Shego's stomach, knocking the wind out of her and sending her back. Shego landed on the ground, bottom first and bounced several times along the ground. She dug energy-enhanced fingers into the ground, backflipping and righting herself as she skidded to a stop. Shego wiped away blood from her lips, and blurred into green light as she rushed Kim. Kim's eyes widened as Shego rushed her at speeds she'd never seen. She raised her hands to block the incoming attack but Shego was faster, unleashing the full weight of her power and momentum into a solid punch at Kim's chest. Kim audibly choked as she was thrown into a stone wall, her body embedded in the rock.
"You STUPID…" Shego began. She threw down a mass of green energy, causing an explosion about halfway between her and Kim. She approached the heroine slowly. "…LITTLE….BITCH!" Shego blurred again and struck Kim again, this time in her stomach. Kim would've cried out in pain, but Shego had knocked the wind out of her. All she could manage was a small choking noise. "I'm completely done dealing with your little self-righteous hero act!" Shego yelled, rage filling her voice. "Time and time again you've gotten in my way for your own pathetic little reasons! But no more, I'm on the winning team, Kimmy!"
Kim coughed, light flecks of blood spraying the ground. "You…haven't…won…yet…" Kim managed to say. Her body was in dull agony.
"I haven't!?" Shego growled. "I have you damn near a foot deep in rock, coughing up blood, and too weak to move!? And I haven't won!?"
"We'll..stop…all of you…" Kim struggled to say.
"You think I CARE about all this time travel ghost shit!?" Shego got right in Kim's face, yelling. "No! I just wanted a fair chance to beat the shit out of you and kill you! You fucking brat!"
Kim let out a small grin. "As unhinged as always…dumb bitch…" Kim let out a laugh. She managed to move her fingers, and pressed a button on the palm of her suit. The suit suddenly burst with electricity, destroying the stone wall and forced Shego to retreat. The suit sent electromagnetic energy throughout her body, rejuvenating her stamina and putting the pain in the back of her mind.
"This fight's over, Shego!" Kim rushed at Shego and struck her with an open palm, knocking her off balance. She pulled a Null Void Egg from the back of her suit's belt. "Get cozy while we deal with the ACTUAL threat, now!" Kim pressed the Null Void Egg to Shego's stomach, activating it.
"What!" Shego said in shock. "Damn you, Kim! I'll kill you, I swear!" Shego's voice echoed and faded as she was absorbed into the Egg.
Kim doubled over, breathing hard. Her suit's energy seemed to fade out. "She was a lot stronger than I expected…" Kim managed to straighten up. She touched a finger to her ear. "This is Kim. Shego's out. How goes the Huntsclan clearing?"
"We're just about wrapped up! Want me to pick you up?" Jake responded.
"Don't get any ideas," Kim smiled softly. "But yes, it would be appreciated."
In a couple of moments, Jake appeared in the air and swooped down, gently but quickly picking up Kim. He cradled her carefully. "How are you holding up?" Jake asked.
"She was way stronger than whenever I've ever fought her before." Kim said, gripping her side. "Got any more of that healing power?"
Jake nodded, still looking forward. Blue mist emanated from his hands and washed over Kim. The faraway pain vanished almost entirely. "Thanks…"
"No worries, let's catch up." Jake said. "Danny's almost there." Jake beat his wings and gained speed as he approached the machine.
Big Chill and Rex landed on the platform that Eon's machine was positioned. By the time they'd arrived, Eon had already been hooked up to the machine. A field of energy had formed around Eon, obscuring his form.
"It's already begun…" Big Chill said. Big Chill flared his wings as he unleashed an icy blast at the field surrounding Eon. The ice struck the field and erupted into an icy cloud, but otherwise it had no effect. "Damn…" His wings formed around his body, like a cloak.
"Nyaaaargh!" A weaselly voice erupted from behind Big Chill. Drakken jumped up from behind Big Chill and swung down a metal pipe towards his shoulder. Big Chill phased effortlessly, Drakken falling over clumsily.
"Really, dude?" Big Chill cocked his head, almost curiously at Drakken. "Rex, mind wrapping this up?"
"Yeah, sure." Rex laughed. He pulled out a Null Void Egg and tossed it at Drakken.
"Curse you, Kim Possible!" Drakken growled as he was absorbed into the egg. Big Chill picked up the egg with his foot and tossed it at Rex.
Rex caught it effortlessly. "Alright, time to wreck this machine."
"Get started, I'll catch up." Big Chill said.
"Got it." Rex rushed over to a nearby console, placing his hands firmly on the console. He will the Nanites to get to work. Circuitry glowed on his arms and spread across the console. "Damn, this thing's high tech…definitely gonna need your help, Ben."
The platform began to rock as the energy from the machine surged. A green flash of light flashed behind Rex. "Upgrade!" The technological alien walked up next to Rex. "We need to hurry, the machine's doing it's job." Upgrade splatted into the console, spreading his body across it as he merged. Rex's Nanites and Upgrade worked in tandem in an attempt to stop the machine.
"Rex!" Upgrade's head popped up. "I don't think we can stop it…"
"Fuck!" Rex cursed. He poured more of his will into his Nanites. "Come on…please!"
The energy from the machine surged, reaching a breaking point. "Fuck!" Upgrade cursed. "We're too late, it's gonna blow!" Upgrade separated from the machine and formed around Rex. Using Rex's Omega Nanite, he formed a Mechamorph-enhanced Block Party shield.
The machine exploded in a yellow light. Pure force and energy sent Rex and Upgrade flying. Danny, Jake, and Kim, who were approaching, were sent hurtling through the air as energy ripped through the Ghost Zone. Danny formed a shield around himself to cushion his fall. Jake curled his body around Kim to protect her from any fatal damage. The heroes tumbled until they eventually slowed to a stop. Lightning ripped apart the platform they stood on, resulting in multiple smaller platforms within the debris. Where the machine once stood was nothing but a pillar of light, with a vague shape within.
Upgrade separated from Rex slowly and weakly, before flashing to human form. Ben rose to a knee, holding his hand to the ground to maintain balance. The others were still too stunned to move.
"No…" Ben groaned.
The vague shape began to take form. It was humanoid, but all Ben could make out where flame-like wisps flowing from its shoulders and head.
"My ascension," Eon said, his voice distorted. "It is done."
