The Masks of Garmadon
Side Note : This Chapter won't be anything totally exciting, but it will go through Montgomery's past, and show why Lydia doesn't exactly have the best relationship with her brother.

Chapter 29 : Montgomery's Tale
Last Time on The Masks of Garmadon : The Resistance goes all in on their final plan to Liberate Frostown, with Alex and Clayton saving their Grandmother, and Alex telling the Sons of Garmadon General, Skip Vicious, who she truly is, and unlocks her True Potential to finish him, and the Sons of Garmadon in Frostown, with the town liberated, and the Resistance then celebrating the victory, with Lydia and Charlie having a talk, and Lydia then taking the moment to kiss Charlie's cheek, and she sees where her place is as The Leader of the Resistance, and it's beside Charlie.
March 14th - The Formlings' Kingdom
2:26 p.m.
Journal Entries : Lydia and Alex
"March 14th, 2045... It's my brother Lucas' 9th Birthday, and it hurts me that he's not even here for it, but that's one more thing worth enduring for, and that's to see his return, now that The Formlings' Kingdom has been Liberated, our only job left is to make it back to Ninjago City, and hold out, my Mommy and my siblings are going to stay back and repair the damage to the kingdom, while I head with Eric and the others back to the City, we're planning to take back The Garbage Depot and keep it locked down until the others come back, but with Garmadon's Madness, it won't be easy."
The Resistance was outside the Airjitzu Temple ( Which was remodeled and now sitting on a big hillside in The Formlings' Kingdom ) getting the Armored Vehicles ready to ride back to Ninjago City.
Alex was still wearing her dress from when she unlocked her true potential, but she took off the jewelry off of her ears and her headdress.
Lydia was looking at the view of the City, which was about 140 Miles away.
Charlie, Eric, and Alex were standing by Lydia, looking at the City, and they could understand how she was feeling.
Eric : It looks like now or never if we're gonna take that City back.
Charlie : But what about, Mystake?
Princess Alex : What about her, Charlie?
Charlie : She said we have to endure, and not only that, but Garmadon's marched the Oni Titan back to Ninjago City now that Frostown's been Liberated, he's not gonna let us waltz in.
Princess Lydia : He doesn't need too, we get inside Ninjago City, and stay down until the others come back.
Charlie : Liddy, you know it'll take more than that right?
Princess Lydia : Yes... but I don't see how we have many choices, Mystake said that I need to make one more transformation if I'm to defeat my Grandfather, but I haven't found out what it is yet, and afterwards we're probably gonna be taking my Mommy back to the hospital because she hasn't fully healed yet.
Charlie : Yea.
Eric : It'll be over soon Princess.
Princess Lydia : I know, I just wish I could've done things right this time.
Princess Alex : Lydia, it's okay.
Princess Lydia : No it's not, this mess was my fault, and it seems like I try to help fix it, and I couldn't even get that right.
Charlie : If this is because of the Garbage Depot Raid, that wasn't your fault Lydia, and this nightmare will be over soon.
Lydia shook her head, and the others were confused, but when Charlie saw tears forming in Lydia's eyes, he knew what she meant.
Charlie : You're talking about what happened to your Family.
Princess Lydia : Yea.
The others heard Lydia, and they came over to her.
Montgomery : Sis, it's okay... we're all still here right?
Princess Lydia : Barely, Daddy was crushed under the Palace Ruins, and I resurrected him along with Grampa, Mommy was secretly helping me lead the Sons of Garmadon, Grammy was captured after escaping and was tortured, and you almost got burned to a crisp in the Palace... and Unfortunately, I'm the one who got out unscathed.
Montgomery : Lydia, you're not the only one who almost lost everything.
Charlie : Yea, I almost lost my Dad at Borg Tower, my Mother was off the grid, my Grandfather was captured... Twice, and now my Dad and my Sister are gone, and my Mother's been poisoned.
Princess Lydia : I just want "Destiny" to stop taking everything away from Me.
Lloyd : I felt the same way Lydia... It'll get better, it did for me, and it did for your Mother.
Princess Lydia : Yea, when Aunt Liv was in the hospital, and you finally showed her the light by kissing her.
Liv laughed at what Lydia said, and Harumi and Lloyd both glared at her.
Liv : Hey she's right, don't give me that look.
Lloyd : Again Liv, If it wasn't funny twenty years ago, it isn't funny now.
Liv : Buzzkill.
Princess Lydia : Stop it... Please.
Empress Harumi : Lydia, we're sorry... but we can't do much about this problem now until the others get back.
Charlie : Well we could use the Armored Vehicles to raid Kryptarium Prison.
Everybody stared at Charlie, and he rolled his eyes.
Charlie : Don't tell me none of you had this idea already.
Lloyd : Nope.
Charlie : This is why I'm usually the Leader.
Princess Lydia : We'll think about that once we're back at the city, but I think now that the Fire's gone, The Fort Lexington Army's gonna head back to where they belong.
Eric : That and The Formlings are staying here, except for Alex.
Princess Lydia : But we still got Dareth.
Misako : Sweetie, are you sure that's saying much?
Dareth : Hello, standing right here.
Princess Lydia : And do you need me to remind you, he punched the Master of Metal in the face?
Lloyd : Why do we keep forgetting that?
Princess Lydia : We'll talk about this later, for now let's just focus on getting back to Ninjago City, and I really hope all of this is a memory I forget too.
Charlie : I'm not blaming you.
Everybody went to the Armored Vehicles, While Lydia's Family ( Along with Skylor, Nya, and Charlie ) went to The Battle Wagon.
25 Minutes Later. . .
The Battle Wagon was driving towards Ninjago City, with one Armored Vehicles behind it ( T28, which was The Super Heavy )
Charlie was sitting in the Battle Wagon, and he was staring at his Mother's Purple Eyes.
Charlie : I can't believe I did this to her.
Nya : It's not your fault, Charlie.
Charlie : I don't see how it isn't.
Princess Alex : What's our Plan, Lydia?
Princess Lydia : We head to the Garbage Depot and fix it, with Ultraviolet taken care of, and Skip Vicious is dead, nobody's gonna come running to that place.
Brenden : Then what?
Princess Lydia : What do you Mean?
Brenden : What about The Masks, those things aren't gonna be in our hands for ever, all we have are The Masks of Hatred, Agitation, and Death, since the others were stolen, and are now in The Sons of Garmadon's hands.
Princess Alex : Except Brutality and Ferocity, those things are destroyed.
Brenden : Okay, then there's still Vengeance, Deception, Violence, Greed, and Fear.
Princess Lydia : We'll work on that, when the time comes.
Alizah : This adventure, has really taken it out of me.
Liv : What do you mean, Alizah?
Alizah : We've been running and fighting for a Month now when it comes to these Bikers, on the bikes, off the bikes, and the whole ugly aftermath, and I'm tired!
Princess Lydia : Now you know how I feel, when I said all I wanted was to be Me, and have Peace in my life... so much for a Peaceful world if my Great-grandfather couldn't even do that.
Lloyd then had a Flashback in his head from when he "Met" the First Spinjitzu Master, and he's curious of where Lydia's going with her Wisdom.
Charlie : So are we heading to The Garbage Depot?
Princess Lydia : First, my Mommy's going back to the Hospital until she's healed, I don't want to keep taking risks.
Montgomery : Me neither.
Lloyd : Harumi, I don't want to risk it either, you should really heal first.
Empress Harumi : Alright.
Harumi saw the pleading eyes in her twins, and she knew not to say no.
Liv : Well, now you know how I felt after Lloyd stabbed me.
Lloyd : Yea, well she got it way worse.
Empress Harumi : Yea, I did.
20 Minutes Later. . .
It's just past 3:00 p.m. and The Resistance arrived at The Garbage Depot.
Charlie : Well this place is a Mess.
Brenden : Well duh, It was Raided.
Nya : The fact that this place still has all of the Metal, it would have been more helpful is Via came also.
Princess Alex : No, my Brother and Sister deserve a break, the last six months weren't easy for them.
Brenden : Yea, that I know.
Just then, the Garage Door to the depot slid open, and it was Chopper Maroon.
Killow : Oh, hey Chopper.
Charlie : Where were you?
Chopper Maroon : Kryptarium... I got a word from Garmadon about an Escape Attempt, and I figured you would like who it was.
Chopper dropped the girl who tried escaping, and Eric saw who it was, after Chopper took off her helmet.
Eric : Hazel!
Chopper Maroon : I tried to get her back online, but that crash left a good hit on her, she's been knocked out since.
Montgomery : Piece of Cake.
Nya opened Hazel's Chest Compartment, and allowed Montgomery to use his Powers.
Eric : Is this gonna hurt her?
Montgomery : Oh yea.
The others got odd looks on their faces, as Montgomery used his Energy, and shocked Hazel awake.
Hazel gasped, and took a huge breath, before she looked around.
Hazel : Where am I, what happened?!
Eric : It's okay Hazel.
Hazel : What's going on?
Princess Lydia : Haze, you've been out for a week.
Hazel : What?
Charlie : She's not kidding, short version, you were blasted out of the sky by Garmadon, taken to Kryptarium, we left the City, after I poisoned my mother on accident, and Harumi survived standing on top of a Skyscraper Collapse, we Liberated Polastraits and Frostown, and then took back The Formlings' Kingdom, Alex found her True Potential, we decided to come back to Ninjago City, and here we are... Haze, that good enough for you?
Hazel : Yea, I think I'm good.
Charlie and Eric helped Hazel stand up, and they saw a rat enter the Garbage Depot.
Lydia smiled at the Rat, and the others were confused.
Eric : Lydia, why are you smiling at a Rat?
Princess Lydia : Rats, can get in and out of difficult places.
Person : Wise words again, young Princess.
The Rat changed, and it was revealed to be Mystake.
Liv : Wow.
Lloyd : Mystake. . .
Mystake : Hello, Lloyd and Liv Garmadon.
Eric : Nice, we're starting to get people back.
Killow : Maybe we should get the Palace back.
Princess Lydia : What do you mean, Killow?
Killow : While you guys were at The Formlings' Kingdom, I was having Chopper and a few of his other members try to fix the Palace, and while the whole thing hasn't been fixed, it's enough to where we could use it now instead of the Garbage Depot, but you guys would have to decide that.
Brenden : Well with the walls and the lake surrounding the Palace, and as long as we have the Main Gates locked down, it would be safer to keep Lydia there, especially since it was a Challenge for us to even get in the City with all of those Bikers crawling around.
Lloyd : Yea, I have to agree.
Charlie : Since we can actually see the Royal Palace from here, should we just try to take the City back, piece by piece?
Nya : What do you mean?
Charlie : Aunt Nya, I mean since we have this place, and The Royal Palace is only connected to the City with the bridge that connects the Main Gates, if we do the right strategies, we can slowly take the city back, piece by piece, until we have Borg Tower surrounded, and then we keep it there until the others return.
Eric : Wouldn't that mean splitting up again?
Lydia and Montgomery : Oh boy. . .
Charlie : Well since The Royal Family are the big targets, they're obviously going to the Palace, and since this is Nya and Eric's Element of Expertise, they can stay here with Alex, Chopper, and Killow.
Richard : And Me, I'll admit I need to be making a better use of myself.
Lloyd : I say keep Dareth here also, if he's better at this sort of thing now, with what Lydia's told me, it might be better if he defends this place.
Dareth : Finally, I got some Respect!
Lloyd : You just lost it again.
Charlie : Mystake, is there any way to heal my Mom?
Mystake : I should be able to take care of that, if we leave now, I should be able to work on removing Garmadon's Power from her, since she absorbed it from Charlie, while he was using it.
Liv : Whoa whoa whoa, Charlie was using My Father's Powers?!
Charlie : Yes.
Liv : Good lord.
Brenden : Okay, current matter, we've talked about like five or six different plans or ideas today, Lydia, make up your mind.
Princess Lydia : First Off, Palace... second, It'd be easier to take back the City, if we found the Masks first-
Killow laughed a small bit, before he spoke to Lydia.
Killow : Good luck with that, Princess.
Princess Lydia : Why?
Killow : The Oni Masks were taken to Semi-Dangerous places, with the Sons of Garmadon guarding them, so it's gonna be harder to find them.
Princess Lydia : Where?
Killow : The Mask of Deception is near The Caves of Despair, The Mask of Greed is in Ninjago Park-
Eric : I'm gonna guess somebody hid it in my Grave?
Killow : Yea.
Eric : That's Painfully Ironic.
Killow : Oh yea... The Mask of Vengeance is in The Vermilion Swamps, The Mask of Fear is atop the Mountain of a Million Steps, and The Mask of Violence is-
Princess Lydia : At The Oni Temple?
Killow : How did you guess that?
Princess Lydia : Seemed obvious... weird, a girl that doesn't really know how to fight, is leading a Resistance, and may have to go searching for stupid Masks, that she previously used to only try to resurrect somebody in her Family, and ended up starting a War.
Lloyd : Well when you put it like that.
Killow : The Palace is just straight from here, we'll keep the tank here, and you guys take The Battle Wagon, I'll have Marco expect you at the Main Gates.
Liv : Alright, let's go.
The Resistance ( Half of Them ) Got into the Battle Wagon and drove off towards The Royal Palace.
Eric : You okay, Mom?
Nya : I'm alright Eric, I'm just worried about your Father and Sister.
Eric : Me too, was Dad gone this long last time?
Nya : No, it's been two weeks, and they weren't even gone for half that... Something's definitely wrong over there, but we can't see or find out what until they come back.
Eric : If they do, they might never... which is what The Princess is afraid of.
10 Minutes Later. . .
The Resistance parked The Battle Wagon in a Garage near The Main Gates.
They walked through a secret passage outside the second set of Gates, and went inside the Palace, since Marco and Chopper used the Debris to barricade the door.
Inside the Palace. . .
Marco : Well, we couldn't clean or fix most of it, but we got it to a stable condition.
Montgomery : The Palace is still in one piece, that's good enough for Me.
Princess Lydia : Me as well.
Charlie : Mystake?
Mystake : Oh yes... Liv, Lloyd, grab Skylor and come this way.
Liv and Lloyd grabbed Skylor and carried her, and they followed Mystake into the Palace.
Montgomery : So now what?
Charlie : Now, I guess we just find something to do.
Alizah : Easier said than done.
Princess Lydia : Am I the only one who wants to take a break from this?
Lydia raised her arms and had the others look at her, and they knew what she meant.
Montgomery : Yea, Me too... this Resistance stuff should maybe be put on hold for now, mainly because after all of this, we wanna keep The Sons of Garmadon from getting desperate.
Princess Lydia : Yea, because our Mommy was right, Desperate people take desperate actions.
Montgomery : Yep.
Charlie : Twin Telepathy, huh?
Alizah : If it wasn't for how far The Realm of Oni and Dragon was, I would talk to my brother.
Lydia actually sighed when she started talking about Montgomery, and she walked away.
Alizah : Lydia?
Charlie : What's wrong with her?
Montgomery : There's a whole lot more to Me, that you guys don't know, I haven't even known my little sister for a whole year yet.
Alizah : What?
Charlie : How?
Montgomery : I feel like Aunt Liv and my Mom are better suited to have that talk, than Me.
Just then Liv and Lloyd walked back into the Hallway.
Liv : Hey kids.
Montgomery : Hey, Aunt Liv... Hi Dad.
Liv : What's wrong?
Montgomery : You've known a thing or two about hiding from your younger twin, scared of their reaction... those thoughts are in Lydia's Mind again.
Liv : Oh. . .
Lloyd : I think we should tell you two about that, while we can... Mont, just go spend time with Lydia if you can, we'll talk with Alizah and Charlie.
Montgomery : Alright.
The Green Ninja walked away, and left Alizah and Charlie with Liv and Lloyd.
Liv : You two come with us.
The two followed the Twins of Garmadon, and they walked farther into the Palace. . .
8 Minutes Later. . .
Charlie and Alizah followed Liv and Lloyd into Lloyd and Harumi's Room, and they sat on the bed and waiting for Lloyd to start talking.
Lloyd : Montgomery was right though you guys, it was only last year when he met Lydia.
Charlie : How is that Possible?
Lloyd : I will say, his Experience, from when he was a baby, up to now, it became traumatic for us all.
Alizah : How?
Liv : It's okay Lloyd, just tell them.
Lloyd : It was May 23rd, 2038... It was the day Montgomery and Lydia were born.
Charlie : We're listening.
Lloyd : Lydia was born Perfectly healthy, but her brother wasn't.
Alizah : What happened?
Lloyd : Montgomery was born extremely ill, and actually spent several months under intensive care, but Harumi and I didn't know that.
Charlie : How?
Lloyd : Four days after Lydia and Montgomery were born, we took Lydia home, but Montgomery was still in the hospital, and he was for close to a year, because his sickness caused him to fall into a coma... he didn't have any rare condition or genetic disease, but his sickness, it was rare for a newborn, and later that day we took Lydia home, Opal called us and told us Montgomery went into a coma, and that there was a pretty big chance he was going to die.
Alizah : How could she say that?
Liv : Sweetheart, she didn't really have a choice, somebody had to tell them there was a chance he wouldn't make it, Opal was the one who told my brother.
Lloyd : Harumi immediately went into depression for months after that, and she hung up the phone and just started crying, and what she didn't know, was four months later Opal tried to tell us Montgomery was fine, but Harumi and I were too depressed to hear it.
Charlie : What happened to him?
Lloyd : Opal and Nurse Rachet had to send Montgomery to an orphanage, mainly because Harumi was still in depression, and even had our friends watch Lydia, because she couldn't keep up with her... and that was where it was until shortly after Lydia and Montgomery turned four.
Alizah : What happened, then?
Lloyd : Because of you kids, and your Elemental Powers, and other Personalities you inherit from your parents, you guys Mentally age faster than the others, which is why you act older than you normally would at your young age, so Montgomery and Lydia had the Mental State of Mind of Pre-Teens at that age, same way you kids are now, and they still are to this day...
Charlie : What does that have to do with Montgomery?
Lloyd sighed and bit his lip, and Liv put her hand on his shoulder for them to keep talking.
Lloyd : Montgomery found out who his real parents were, and on his own he came to the Royal Palace and told us who he was, and while Harumi and I were in massive shock, we were happy he was alive, but... when they had just turned four, Harumi told Lydia that she did have a brother, but he died in the hospital.
Charlie : So you accidentally lied to her?
Lloyd : Yea, and the Night before he saw Lydia with myself, Harumi, Liv, Alizah, Liam-
Liv : Our Mom.
Lloyd : Yep, her too... and Montgomery was inside the Palace, and he looked around a corner and saw Lydia with us in the Living Room of the Palace, and him seeing the joy on Lydia's face made him want to stay away from her, and not want to intrude of her peace.
Alizah : Mom... he felt the same way you did?
Liv : Yea.
Lloyd : Then over the next year, Montgomery started playing baseball and going around Ninjago, and "Exploring" it as he went, and even kept notes and pictures of the whole thing, not lying, his journal's probably on Harumi's Desk.
Charlie : Go on.
Lloyd : But then, about a Month after they turned five, when we were giving a speech to Ninjago City, Montgomery was there watching, since it was the closest he could get to Lydia without alerting her of who he was, but one thing he forgot was-
Charlie : Let me guess, his Green Eyes?
Liv : Bingo.
Lloyd : Yea, and Lydia actually got down from the stage and ran up to him, and after a minute of looking into each other's eyes, he ran off, and he came back to ask Liv, and Me to help him talk to Lydia, since he wanted to badly see her, since he came to the Palace a year back.
Alizah : How did she take it?
Liv : Lydia was happy and in extreme sadness at the same time, since she thought he was dead, but Harumi honestly didn't know either, and Lloyd and I figured out his secret long before either of them did, so... we had him meet with Lydia in her room, and the two connected-
Lloyd : Similar to how we did, with Lydia questioning how her brother knew so much about locations around Ninjago, and previous villains.
Charlie : Not that hard with the Garmadon heritage.
Liv : Yea.
Lloyd : So... Lydia and her brother tried to connect like nothing happened over the past five years, but Montgomery and his baseball dream got in the way of that, and shortly before they turned six, he left her... he left us all.
Alizah : Lydia?
Lloyd : It broke her that Montgomery left after a short time, because he felt like it was a job rather than a dream, but after he came back a month ago, Lydia wanted it to be different, but... he and Lydia both got caught in that Palace attack, and here we are.
Charlie : Does The City know?
Lloyd : Yea, Harumi and I told them about Montgomery, but it didn't do that much, and Lydia didn't say a word to you guys about her brother to keep her mind off him, and with her being stuck with you guys on that Island, get hunted by The Villains' Order, getting attacked by Nadakhan... she just, well... forgot.
Liv : Until he called her two months ago saying he was coming home, and that's why she was so happy when he came back, but... all of the time he stayed away from her, comes into her mind, wishing it had been different, and I feel the same way after I heard Lloyd's words, regretting not going onto the Bounty with them.
Charlie : Now?
Lloyd : Lydia and Montgomery have both hit a dead end, not knowing where to turn with Ninjago at War, and the two of them not knowing how to fix their bond.
Liv : Does that make sense to you two?
Charlie and Alizah both agreed, and they stood up and left the room.
Lloyd : I feel like I made Lydia suffer... I'm starting to think that's the real reason she said sorry to me, and not because of our Birthday.
Liv : Yea... Me too.
Meanwhile. . .
Lydia was on the Balcony of her bedroom, looking at the Rising Smoke and what's left of the city lights in Ninjago City.
Montgomery slid Lydia's Bedroom door open, and he looked at her.
Montgomery : Hey Sis.
Princess Lydia : Hey, Montgomery.
The Green Ninja approached his sister, and he saw the tears in her eyes as she was sitting on the ledge of the balcony, letting her legs dangle over the edge.
Montgomery : Are you okay?
Princess Lydia : No.
Montgomery : Me neither.
Lydia sat on the Ledge, and Montgomery was standing behind the ledge looking at the City, as Lydia spoke.
Princess Lydia : I just can't help but thinking, not only if our lives were different, but... If only I had seen reason, and I didn't start this mess... and, If only I had jumped to the ship, and they wouldn't have came back... and Liam...
Montgomery sat beside his sister on the ledge, once she mentioned their cousin.
Montgomery : That wasn't your fault Lydia... and while he was our Cousin, Liam loved you like a brother... I mean, a sister, you get the point.
Princess Lydia : For now, I just still can't believe that they're all gone.
Montgomery : Neither can I, but Liam and every last one of our friends out there would want us to keep fighting, and you're the the Brains and the Wisest here Sis, so...
Princess Lydia : What?
Montgomery : You're the one who always said that The Resistance Never Quits, and has come up with all the plans, you and Charlie... and because of Skylor, Charlie isn't much use at the Moment, but you... you're the brightest part of all of Ninjago.
That caught Lydia off guard that her brother said that, and she looked at him in curious shock.
Princess Lydia : Me?
Montgomery : Yea, while I know I made both of our lives harder, since I stayed away, looking into your eyes became the best moment of my life-
Liv, Misako, and Lloyd all looked inside the room and saw the two of them talking, and Lloyd had a Video Chat on his phone so Harumi could hear them also.
Princess Lydia : Then why did you Run away, why didn't you want to know your "baby" twin sister?
Montgomery bit his lip, and tears left his eyes, as he lightly chuckled.
Montgomery : You had to ask me that Question?
Lydia stared at her brother, and she still frowned and had tears in her eyes, so she wasn't joking.
Montgomery : Nothing about the past three years, was that I didn't want to know you Lydia... much like Dad was at this age, I was a childish brat... because of my Powers, and my rather "Violent" ways of handling myself on my own, I thought you would see me as a Monster, I pushed you away before you could do the same to Me.
Princess Lydia : Are you kidding, That's why I was so incredibly shy and insecure when I first Charlie, Felicia, Nina, Eric, Siddie, and Xavier... that's exactly how I felt when I first met the others, when I was Four, mainly because of our relation to Garmadon...
Montgomery : But that still doesn't mean anything I did was right, I shouldn't have made a decision like this for you.
Lydia held Montgomery's right arm with both of her hands, and laid her head on his shoulder.
Princess Lydia : It's okay... you were the one who came back... and said Sorry to Me, and you're my Twin Brother, and you decided to come home and stay with me... that's all I ever wanted.
Montgomery got off the ledge, and he looked at his sister, as she turned her head back, and saw Montgomery reaching his arm out for her hand, she turned around and took it, and as she got off the ledge, she threw herself into her twin brother's arms.
The two shared their deep hug, and the others smiled at the scene of Lydia and Montgomery.
Liv slightly gasped a bit and playfully covered her mouth, when she saw Montgomery kiss his little sister's cheek.
