'Naruto thoughts to Kurama'

Chapter Twelve: Secrets Revealed And Training!

A few weeks after the mission with his now-sister, Naruto realized she was hiding something from them and he hated it when people hid stuff from him, unless they tell him otherwise. He sat on the ground, in the training field he and Team Kakashi used a lot to train at, in primary lotus, having an inner chat with Kurama about a lot of things.

'What are you doing here, kit, when you have other things to worry about, like a certain Hyuga or even that damned Uchiha brat.' The fox taunted, laying under the shade of a large tree in Naruto's mindset.

Naruto rolled his eyes and leaned on his hands on the grass. 'Sorry, but I need insight on something. Misaki seems to be hiding something from me. But I want to know what you think she could be hiding.' He tilted to face the beast that was sealed inside him since he was born.

Kurama snorted to his jinchuriki before growling slightly. 'If I do, will you leave me alone?' When the blonde shrugged, he sighed. 'That girl.. Something about her has me more on edge when we're around her than when we're around that Uchiha... I believe the something you're thinking of is.. a very, very rare kekkai genkai called Jibakugan... I have no idea what it is, but I've heard about it. Perhaps your visitor will know more about the Jibakugan.' He flicked a tail as if saying goodbye.

Naruto came out of his talk to see Kakashi walking up with Sakura and Sasuke in tow. "Kakashi-sensei! Teme and Sakura-chan!" He said, getting up and stretching. "What's up?"

Kakashi grinned a little before shrugging. "Had to see why it was so quiet around the village."

"Gee Kakashi-sensei, great to know I am some entertainment. But, why bring teme and Sakura-chan?"

Sasuke glared at Naruto and grunted. "Hn. Dobe, just know I'll never forget that insult." He oofed when Sakura elbowed him in the gut. "What?"

Sakura raised an eyebrow as if saying, 'Do-I-have-to-answer-that?' before smiling. "Kakashi-sensei actually wanted me to tell you that Neji will be up and about in few days, so Hinata will be more free after that. As in, more free for dates." She grinned.

Naruto sighed happily before becoming serious. "Kakashi-sensei, what exactly is the Jibakugan? I wanna know before I ask Misaki-imouto why she wanted to hide it."

Kakashi looked shocked before sighing. "You noticed, huh? Well, what exactly do you know about it?"

Naruto sighed. "Kurama only told me it's an extremely rare kekkai genkai, that's all."

Kakashi nodded. "He's right, though, not much is known about it. I've heard that the Jibakugan brings out the victim's subconscious negative or hateful emotions. It's also a genjutsu. The caster can take advantage of these feelings and control the victim's actions."

Sasuke raised his eyebrow at that. "A genjutsu? So like the Sharingan or Byakugan?"

Kakashi shook his head. "No. In fact the only way to dispel the Jibakugan is using the Sharingan to counter it..."

Naruto blinked. "Is there is any other way, in case there's no Sharingan around?"

Kakashi looked sad and nodded. "If there is no Sharingan, the only other way is.. to kill the user..." Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura all shared a look of shock at this, to which Kakashi sighed. "Yeah, once it's cast, Jibakugan is pretty much unstoppable... Isn't that right, Misaki?" He asked, turning to the trees.

Misaki came out, despair and sadness resonating off of her as she nodded to the question and looked to the ground. "Yes. I didn't want to let anyone know because of how hard it is to dispel... I've used it once... But I was young and had no idea what I was doing.."

Sasuke was the one to speak next. "But, how exactly did it dispel?"

Misaki blinked before thinking. "Well, I hope you won't hate me, Sasuke-san, but it was your older brother who had to use his Sharingan. After that, I don't remember what happened." When she saw Sasuke wasn't even phased, she sighed in relief before Naruto pulled her into a headlock.

"Why didn't you say something sooner? I kinda have a hard time getting out of my Tailed Beast Mode despite me and Kurama being... erm.. nice to each other." Naruto said, grinning. "Now that we know. Whenever you feel the Jibakugan is getting out of control, I'm sure teme wouldn't mind helping, would you?" He looked to his best friend.

Sasuke turned his head to the side, trying to ignore the question, only to meet Sakura's smirk and sighing. "Hn. I suppose I would. If it would make you less of a dobe, dobe." He smirked when Naruto sent his own glare at him.

Sakura and Misaki both shared looks of annoyance at the two's behavior before Sakura blinked as she looked like she wanted information. "Say, Misaki-chan..."

"Yeah Sakura-chan?"

"The Jibakugan... Can you learn to use it without problems?" She questioned, getting the guys to quiet down.

Misaki thought for a moment as she remembered something about her kekkai genkai. "Yes. There is a way, but I have to also be trained in senjutsu if I remember right." She hummed a little right as Tsunade appeared. "Lady Tsunade!"

"I overheard about you needing senjutsu training. I think Naruto would be the closest one to even know senjutsu. So, Naruto, starting when Neji is released, you will train her in senjutsu... Think of it as passing on Jiraya's will and his teachings. Plus, since she's now an Uzumaki, you can sort of help her get acquainted with what you know." Tsunade mentioned and ordered before smiling. "Speaking of Neji, he will be able to be released later today. You can go visit if you want to."

Naruto looked psyched at the fact Neji was both awake and would be released soon. "Alright! I felt really bad about him getting hurt on my account." He rubbed his head shyly.

Misaki remembered she was also on that mission and sighed. "Naru-ani, it wasn't your fault. The enemy was just to quick even for us to handle." She tried to comfort.

Naruto sighed before strolling off to go talk to Neji, taking her comment to heart as he walked to the hospital and went to Neji's room, seeing Hinata and Neji talking before the latter noticed and waved him over. "Hey, Neji. I heard that later today you'll be released."

"Yeah. Thanks to Lady Tsunade's medical ninjutsu, she took care of the major wounds." Neji explained. "I can tell there's something else on your mind."

Naruto sighed and chuckled. "Can't hide things from you. I really am sorry for not being able to help you. It's been nagging me that I seemingly can't even rush to protect a friend."

Neji shook his head. "You really aren't very bright, Naruto. You don't need to protect everyone. We can fight as well. Plus, Lady Misaki also was trying her hardest to protect you." He saw Naruto tense up at the title. "Listen, I'm not like my uncle. I could care less if Lady Misaki was your cousin, I see her as a valuable person of the Leaf."

Naruto sighed and nodded. "I bet you need a little more rest before getting out. Hinata, mind walkin with me for a while? Hinata?" He saw her turn red when he stood next to her before he realized that she had reverted to her shy self, to which he and Neji chuckled at as Naruto gently took her hand and led her out to the streets. "Hina-hime, I'll be very busy for awhile, so anything you wanna do?" He asked.

"Busy with what, Naruto-kun?" She asked shyly.

"I have to train Misaki-imouto in senjutsu. I think she'll let you know why." Naruto said, grinning at Hinata's look of relief. "What? Did you think I'd start dating another girl? Man, that'd be impossible."

Hinata looked confused. 'Did Naru-kun just say we're dating? Thi-this is too fast...' She blushed again before daring to say her question. "A-are we da-dating, Naru-kun?"

"Well, yeah. I guess. I mean, I told you that you're important to me, right?" At a nod, he continued. "And I think I told you I loved you, so that, in my mind, means we're dating. At least everyone else told me that's what it is. I really have no idea what that means, but I guess so."

Hinata then remembered Naruto never really had anyone to love him due to him being the Nine-Tails' jinchuriki, so he was new to this, as was she. "That sounds about right... And I wouldn't mind watching you train Misaki-chan sometimes."

"Sure. You might need to remind me to train her in only senjutsu. Pervy Sage taught me way more than I think is really necessary." Naruto replied as he and Hinata walked around the village, talking to villagers, friends and even a few Hyuga clansmen, who, unlike Neji and Hinata, looked at him in scorn, which he brushed off. They even found Neji talking to Team Guy, both happy he was up and about. Later, he stood with Hinata outside the Hyuga complex, where she lived. "I have to admit, I have more fun with you, Hina-hime than I do with teme and Sakura-chan.. Then again, when I'm round them, I'm trying to show up teme."

Hinata giggled lightly at the fact. "Everyone knows that, Naruto-kun. I'm glad you had fun with me. And have fun training Misaki-chan after tomorrow. Team Kurenai has a mission, so I'll be gone for a few days."

Naruto looked bummed before grinning. "If Kiba starts saying crap about me, give him a punch for me. Though, I never thought I'd be training someone. I mean, I barely remember what we learned in the Academy, let alone what Pervy Sage taught me."

"You'll do fine, Naruto-kun." She said, smiling and quickly leaning up to give his cheek a small peck before darting inside, red as a tomato. 'I-I-I kissed Naru-kun! On the cheek, no less! Oh, my! He probably thinks I'm a bad person now!' Her mind and heart raced.

Naruto, on the other hand, started off shocked before smirking to himself as he rested his left hand where she kissed him. Humming to himself, he had a feeling everything was finally going to look great for him. He had a great girlfriend, at least he is starting to feel comfortable about that fact, a adopted sister he'd risk his life for, friends that are like his own family and teachers that are also family to him.

Miyu, on the other hand, had a look of indifference on her face as she watched the two she sent on the mission in her chakra-powered orb. She lifted her violet eyes to Takehiko, who had entered a few moments prior. "Tell me you have an update on Katsuro's mission.. And it better be a good update."

Takehiko seemed to gulp under his hood. "Mistress, Katsuro said he is having difficulties finding what you want for the girl's impending arrival." Before he could get another word out, a swirl appeared, soon revealing a man.

Miyu looked taken aback. "How dare you barge in here unannounced?! Who are you? I demand answers." She said coolly, able to seem calm to the intruder.

The man bowed slightly. "I am Tobi, from the Akatsuki. I have orders from my Leader to find out who is making a ruckus about trying to get a certain tailed beast.. And to see if they'd be willing to join forces. Little did we know a lovely lady was behind the little intruder one of our members ran into." He said.

Miyu raised an eyebrow before lowering it again. "Akatsuki.. I have heard of you. I have no interest other than controlling the Five Nations as it's Queen.. If I must use a Tailed Beast to do so, I will... So, I will align myself with your group... However, a girl in the Leaf must not die. She has a very special Kekkai Genkai I need to use to become Queen."

Tobi nodded. "May we resume our talk without peering eyes and ears?" He motioned to Takehiko.

Miyu blinked. "Takehiko, do make yourself useful and go tell Katsuro that who he ran into, that he is our ally and is not to be attacked." When he nodded and disappeared, she looked to Tobi. "Now... How else may I help you?"

Meanwhile, Itachi and Deidara were trying their hardest not to tell the Leaf interrogator, Ibiki Morino, what the Akatsuki are up to. Itachi then made a compromise: let him talk to Sasuke Uchiha only and he'd talk. At first, Ibiki was wary, but Itachi was able to convince him. Making sure the door had guards and seals, Ibiki went on his search for Sasuke, finding him with Sakura and Sai. "Uchiha. One of our captives wants to only talk to you."

Sakura blinked. "Ibiki, at least call Sasuke by his name..." She stated.

Ibiki looked at her before shrugging. "Anyway. Uchiha Itachi said he'd only tell you what the Atatsuki are planning next."

At the mention of his older brother wanting to talk to him, Sasuke first told himself not to beat the ever living crap out of him. "Sakura, I'll talk to you later." He sent Sai a warning glare before following Ibiki to where they held Itachi.

Ibiki motioned for him to enter the room. "By the way, don't kill him."

"Hn. I'll try not to." Was the reply as the door shut.

"Ahh, Sasuke... I can tell you still wish me dead... No matter, I will explain everything to you so you can have all the facts then make a choice." Itachi said, showing no emotion as he normally did around his brother.

"Hn. Then start talking before I rip your head off." Sasuke shot back, sitting across the way from his brother as he listened to the exact reasons for why his brother was a part of the Atatsuki and what they were after.

Naruto nearly facepalmed when Misaki failed at Sage Mode, again. But, seeing Hinata watching from a safe distance, he calmed himself down before going to his sister. "Misaki-imouto, should I show you how again?"

Misaki sighed and shook her head. "It's useless. I'll never get senjutsu and will probably be killed to stop my Jibakugan." She looked at her hands, the warts finally fading away.

"Listen, I didn't master Sage Mode my first time, either. It took me a long time to learn, let alone master. I had to use my clones to perfect it." Naruto grinned as Misaki looked at him in shock. "What? I wasn't really good at anything except my Shadow Clone jutsu until Pervy Sage trained me... Say, why don't you see if clones help you?" Misaki blinked before summoning a clone without using a handsign, which shocked Naruto. "H-how the heck!? How'd you summon one without a handsign?"

Misaki grinned. "I used a few clones myself to train against a for a few years, so... I can create one without even trying." Focusing her clone on gathering the energy Naruto said senjutsu needed, she noticed how easier it was as she felt much stronger than before. "Did I do it? Or am I a frog again?"

Naruto smirked and chuckled. "You're a frog... Not. You got it down now. Using clones really helps. Just be sure to have control over it and you'll do fine with the Jibakugan." With that, he, Hinata and Misaki returned to see Sakura and Sai looking around. "Sakura-chan! Sai? What's up?"

Sakura sighed. "Sasuke-kun was asked to talk to Itachi and he hasn't come back. He said he'd talk to me later and it's later.. But, anyway, how'd it go? Did you annoy her too much, Naruto?"

Misaki laughed a little. "Sakura-chan, Naruto-niisan doesn't annoy me... But, I did learn how to use senjutsu, so if I have to use my Jibakugan, I'll have a way out of it." She tilted her head at Sai, who looked like he was thinking. "Sai-kun? What's up? Oh, hi, Kiba-kun!" She saw Kiba walk towards them, Akamaru following close by.

"Hey, Misaki-chan. How'd the training go?" Kiba asked.

"Great. I have senjutsu to counter my Jibakugan." At Kiba's confused look, Misaki realized Kiba didn't know of her Jibakugan before explaining what it was and how there were three ways to end it. When he nodded, she sighed.

Sai raised a finger. "I now have an idea of what to call you... Twat." He said before all around him literally looked ready to murder him before Misaki sent him flying with a kick learned from Ino.

"SAI! If you EVER call her that again, I'll Rasengan you to next year!" Naruto threatened.

Sai looked unphased by Naruto's threat, rubbing his cheek as he stood up. "You sure have a way with words, but that's about all, huh, Dickless?" He questioned, having Naruto turn completely crimson in embarrassment, Misaki following suit after registering the insult, Kiba hiding his chuckle in his hand, Sakura doing the same before Misaki sent him flying with a punch that made Sakura proud.

"Geez, Sakura-chan... Did you have to teach her that?" Naruto commented as they saw Sai slide down the road like Naruto did after saying Sakura looked the same after three years.

"Well, it worked, didn't it?" She replied as the five went to look for Sasuke, finding him leaving where the ANBU hold interrogations. "Sasuke-kun?" She asked before he all but grabbed her and dragged her away. "Well, I'll see you guys tomorrow!" She managed to get out before Sasuke went around a corner.

"Man, teme looked really weird... I'd say whatever happened probably shook him to his core.. But, why bring Sakura-chan... Don't tell me he's going to beat her up?!" Naruto ranted, looking agitated by the thought.

Misaki sighed. "Naruto-niisan, Sasuke-san won't hurt Sakura-chan.. You are half-right. He's both shaken to the core and confused... So, a woman's insight would help shed some light on it." At both Kiba and Naruto's shared look of confusion and surprise, she giggled. "I can tell from Sasuke-san's chakra."

Naruto drooped and smiled. "Forgot you're a sensor like Ino." As the four went to have some food with the rest of their friends, Naruto mentally hoped Sasuke wouldn't hurt Sakura again.

Sakura sighed and dug her heels into the ground, forcing the Uchiha dragging her to either stop or continue with just an arm. "Sasuke-kun, we're out of the village for pete's sake, what's wrong?" She asked gently.

Sasuke sighed slightly, sounding more annoyed than relieved. "Itachi told me everything. From why he killed our clan to why he joined the Atatsuki..."

Sakura remained silent, figuring if she so much as spoke up, Sasuke would either lash out or hide away again, so she blinked to show she was listening to him.

Sasuke looked up to the sky as if it were something more interesting. "He said he had been given the choice to either die along with the clan or to kill the entire clan, protecting the village and me, by extension. So, he chose the latter before joining the Atatsuki to spy on it from within... So in other words, he always was a shinobi from the Leaf and does what he does for the village." He then faced Sakura, showing he was confused about things.

Sakura smiled gently at him and went to sit under a tree, motioning for him to join her. "Well, for one thing, it is a shinobi's choice what they do with their lives and if a superior gives them an alternative, they can either ignore it or follow it. By the sound of it, your brother did it out of love for you. I can't really decide what to do for you. That's your choice. Though, whatever you choose, destroy the village or not, I'm sure our friends will understand everything. Sure, Naruto'll be beyond mad, but he is Naruto, he'll know." Sakura said, gauging the Uchiha's reaction to the next thing she said. "Another thing is that I know I'd never hate you. It's impossible for me to even try. And you know exactly why..." She looked at the ground, gauging his reaction and hiding the blush that had dusted her cheeks.

Sasuke raised an eyebrow at her explanation, wondering when exactly she got so wise, before smirking to himself as he knew that she always harbored feelings for him, even when he was consumed by darkness and nearly killed her twice over the past three years. His expression softened slightly when she turned away, surprised she still had the slight shyness from when they were in Team 7 when they were genin. However, he focused on what Sakura said and went about trying to make a decision himself: he could destroy the village for making his brother kill everyone in their clan or he could carry the will to protect the village Itachi clearly still had. After a while, he spoke. "I think I may have chosen what to do... I will continue to protect the village like Itachi is still doing, even if he is a part of the Atatsuki."

Sakura blinked and smiled. "And knowing you, you'll refuse to give in once you're set on something, it's hard to sway you..." She finally met his eyes and was shocked at how content they looked as he tugged her into what would appear to most as an awkward hug, but she was glad he was slowly opening up to her and made a vow to never let him feel alone again.

Well, long and it kind of shed some light on a few things. Now, as warned, the next chapter will be setting up the Fourth Ninja War and showing even more development of the characters, including Naruto. Hope you'll like it.

Deidara: So can I get my own chapter yet?

Me: x.x Dei-koishii, you know this is only a NaruHina and SasuSaku fic, right? Not a DeiOC fic.

Deidara: Riiight. Who'll read a review? Shall I?

Me: Nope. The lucky one to read one is none other than the Pervy Sage himself, Jiraya!

Jiraya *poofs in amazingly*: Alright. Let's read... This one from Ayrmed on chapter 12: 'Good chapter for character development.'

Me: Exactly~ I want to move them from the usual slightly to be more mature and wiser. Wait till the next chapter!
