Epilogue

They looked out from the thicket, a grey wolf and a looming figure stood, their shadows barely touched the sun's rays. The light was high and it shone its face over the white field which still kicked and squirmed at the end of winter. A gentle breeze hovered over the land, it brought in the damp air which arose from the chill of dying snow. On this field, the figures witnessed a large group of wolves, from a ledge stood two, a black and grey who spoke to the ones below.

The shadowed figure grumbled, he looked down at the wolf. "So this is your pack."

"Yes… it was my pack," she watched as the ones from the ledge spoke down, the wolf looked at her. "And that was my friend."

The figure nodded and stroked his chin. "I see. Is that the one who betrayed you?"

She nodded, there was a chorus of howls; the wolf picked her head up. "It seems the Alpha's chosen," the other said. He shifted his gaze to her. "Don't worry, you'll have your revenge."

She gritted her teeth. "Yes, I will have my revenge." A few tears slipped down her muzzle as she looked on. They watched as the two spoke to the crowd, the ones below howled with the might of a battalion, their cry turning the wind itself. Eventually, the two on the ledge left their sight, disappearing into the den and the crowd dispersed.

"So you've agreed?" the figure asked.

"Yes," she said. He nodded and left the forest's edge, lurking into the murky woods. "Come on, I'll do my part, and I expect the same from you."

She followed him into the forest, yet paused to look over her shoulder and towards the den. 'I'm coming Aleu, I will have my vengeance.'
