Thank you Rainy-Day-Righter-234 for pointing out the chapter problem. I was in the middle of editing chapter 15 and I was also doing some minor editing in the previous chapters. I must have pasted chapter 15 instead of 9 by accident. Once again, thank you.
I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V, only my character and the cards she uses. Any mention of other characters, shows and concepts are simply to help you understand the situation my character is in, nothing more, nothing less.
Chapter 9: Rage Of The Raidraptors
The last few days have been filled with non-stop Dueling action. I, of course, seemed to have it about as easy as Sora did against my first four opponents. In Yuya's case, he seemed to always get stronger opponents than the rest of us.
First up, Yuya faced the literal King of the Kitchen Reed Pepper, in which he faced an opponent who expertly used the power of Yuya's Monsters against him. Though I guess some of the trouble came from the fact that Yuya didn't get the chance to eat anything in the morning and didn't have enough energy to properly Duel. He eventually won in the end and showed Reed that there was no such thing as the perfect recipe, you must constantly improve on what you can do in order to be more powerful than before.
The next day, me and Sora was watching as Zuzu continued her Fusion Summoning training. And I have to say, she did everything correctly. She activated Polymerization, then fused her Monsters by sending them to the Graveyard and was about to summon her Fusion Monster when an error message appeared on her Duel Disk. Unfortunately, it turned out that Zuzu accidently put her Fusion Monster in her Deck instead of the Extra Deck. Seriously, she put it in her Deck! Even I didn't struggle as much to learn this summoning method! I literally facepalmed when she found it. Sadly, this has been happening ever since she started learning to Fusion Summon. Would you believe this is the fourth time she shuffled her Fusion Monster into her Deck? Well it is.
Afterwards, Sora gave Zuzu a mini lecture about it, and then started asking her about the masked Duelist, when both Zuzu and my bracelets shone and Yuya arrived. Later that night Zuzu angrily questioned her dad about her bracelet. I know that because I could hear her the entire time. So much for hoping the walls of my room were soundproof.
The next day Yuya had his Duel with the Quiz Wiz Extraordinaire Pierre L'Supérieure, which was a literal battle of the minds as they Dueled across the Quiz Quest Action Field, filled with Action Traps that could both help and hinder you depending on the answer of the randomly chosen question. It was an intense Duel with Pierre doing his best to make Yuya get every question he answered wrong. But when Yuya won, he learned that his mind was his most important weapon, and no matter how difficult the situation you face is, there will always be a way out.
The next day, I, for once, saw something extremely peculiar at You Show. Yuya, who won his Duel yesterday and was quite happy about it, was sitting in the middle of the Action Field with his arms crossed, and apparently, he was sitting there for an hour. Bored, I decided to head out for a walk. Eventually, I came to a roped off area in an alleyway, just below an elevated highway. Curious, I entered the area and looked around. There didn't seem to be anything out of place at first, but then I realised that not many people look up. I did so, and spotted the one thing out of place. Engraved into the highway was several deep scratches, almost as if something gorged a pair of sharp objects into the bridge. Staring at the marks sent some shivers through my body, I could feel the anger from the creature as if it were standing right in front of me.
Shaking off my unease, I continued walking until I ended up at the docks again. Seriously, it's almost as if this place draws strange and dangerous events here. I decided to climb up onto one of the large storage containers and wait. After all, it won't stay boring for long. And I was proven right as Julia arrived, and not long after, Zuzu and Sora as well. Julia then explained to Zuzu that Duelists at the Leo Institute had been attacked by an unknown Xyz Summoner, with each and every one of them disappearing afterwards. She then demanded that Zuzu tell her where the masked Duelist is, and explained that one of the missing Duelists was Professor Marco, who was in charge of teaching advanced courses in Fusion Summoning. When Zuzu said that she didn't know anything about the Duelist, Julia challenged her to a Duel. Sora then comforted the Melodious user by pointing out that she was now more than ready to face off against the Gem-Knight user again.
However, before the two could even equip their Duel Disks, a man suddenly appeared, rushing past Zuzu with enough force to knock her down, with her cards spilling out from her Deck when her Disk landed on the ground. This new man was different compared to the Phantom Knights user, for he wore a large overcoat, a red scarf and a pair of sunglasses covering his eyes. The only thing the two had in common was the fact that this new person possessed the same type of Duel Disk as the masked Duelist. He then activated it, projecting a light blue blade from it and then proceeded to challenge Julia to a Duel.
The masked Duelist then appeared and grabbed the man's arm, revealing his name to be Shay. As they argued, Julia then called Kit and Dipper and directed them to warehouse 33. When Zuzu questioned whether or not this new Duelist was the culprit, Shay seemed to start in shock. He then tried to talk to her, calling her Lulu, when the masked Duelist punched him in the gut, knocking him out. The Phantom Duelist then noticed Zuzu's cards scattered across the ground and picked up Polymerization, mentioning that it didn't seem right for Zuzu. Then both my and Zuzu's bracelets glowed and the Xyz Summoner and Shay disappeared, with Yuya, Dipper and Kit arriving not long after. After Yuya asked if Zuzu was okay, I saw her break down, obviously upset that she still didn't understand why her bracelet kept glowing and people kept disappearing afterwards. Yuya then noticed that Zuzu's cards were scattered across the ground and picked them up. He then returned them to the girl and Julia ran up to the members of LID who just arrived, telling them what happened. The others started to leave as Yuya spotted Polymerization on the ground and picked it up. I then got up from where I was sitting and left as well, thinking to myself. "Looks like everything is going as it should."
…
The next day was certainly entertaining, to say the least. Yuya had his next Duel against Aura Sentia, a student of the mysterious and, even by my standards, creepy, Fortune Prep Duel School, a place that trains those skilled in the art of fortune telling. As soon as I walked in, several students started giving me strange looks, most likely predicting my own personal future. And from what I had to guess, none of the options were good. I swear I heard one say, 'the demon walks among us' and another say, 'the puppeteer has returned to once more pull the strings.' I was almost relieved when Yuya arrived. Or rather, fell down the stairs.
When the Duel began, it was revealed that Yuya was not only having a string of bad luck, but also that Aura had already predicted how the Duel would end. But I had my own prediction on the outcome, and I was not disappointed.
The two Duelists battled it out on the Fortuneterror Action Field, with Aura taking an early lead with her Prediction Princess Monsters, easily taking down Yuya's Pendulum Monsters. I've always admired Aura's mastery over her Flip Effect Monsters, as well as the fact her Deck revolves triggering their abilities whenever she wants to. In a way, it was just like my own Shaddoll Deck. But Yuya really stole the spotlight when he used Zuzu's Polymerization card to Fusion Summon Rune-Eyes Pendulum Dragon. Though, when Yuya drew Polymerization, I swear I saw the image of the dragon before he summoned it.
After the Duel, we all gathered together to congratulate Yuya on his third win, along with Madam Divina, the headmistress of the school, along with Nico Smiley. Yuya returned the Polymerization card to Zuzu and I briefly locked eyes with Divina, who's eyes widened with shock, almost as if she had seen something truly horrifying.
After leaving the school, I had a Duel with a LID student who was picking on a couple of kids and defeated him with a combination of Fusion Monsters in my Shaddoll Deck. I was currently walking down an empty street when I got a feeling of being watched. I stopped walking and looked behind me. Seeing no-one was there, I faced forward and was not surprised to see Shay standing not too far in front of me.
"May I help you?" I asked politely, even though I knew the answer. Shay, saying nothing, activated his Duel Disk and prepared to Duel me. "I'm taking your sudden activation of your Duel Disk as a challenge then. Well, let us begin."
I activated my Duel Disk as well as we prepared for battle.
"Let's Duel!" We both cried as we drew our first five cards.
Luna – 4000
Shay – 4000
"I shall make the first move." My opponent said. "I summon Raidraptor – Vanishing Lanius."
A green mechanical bird with a red insignia on its chest appeared on the field.
Raidraptor – Vanishing Lanius
Level – 4 – Attribute – Dark
Type – Winged Beast
ATK – 1300 – DEF – 1600
"When Vanishing Lanius is summoned to my field, I can summon another to join the fray!"
Another Lanius appeared on the field, ready for battle.
"And why have two when I can have a third to join the flock!"
A final copy appeared on the field, sightly worrying me.
"I set two cards Face-Down and end my turn. Make your move, Fusionite!"
"My turn." I said, slightly flattered that my Fusion Summoning seems to be just as good as the members of Duel Academy. "For my first move, I activate the Spell, Future Fusion!" I saw Shay's eyes narrow in rage when I said that. "Thanks to its effect, I can show you one Fusion Monster in my Extra Deck on my next Standby Phase and send it's materials to the Graveyard and on my third, I can Fusion Summon it to the field. Next, since you control a Monster and I don't, I can summon my Cyber Dragon to the field!"
A large mechanical, serpentine-like dragon appeared on my field, staring down my opponent's Monsters.
Cyber Dragon
Level – 5 – Attribute – Light
Type – Machine
ATK – 2100 – DEF – 1600
"Next I summon my Cyber Dragon Drei!"
Another dragon appeared, sleeker and more streamlined than the original.
Cyber Dragon Drei
Level – 4 – Attribute – Light
Type – Machine
ATK – 1800 – DEF – 800
"When Drei is on the field or in the Graveyard," I explained, "its name becomes Cyber Dragon. Also, when it is Normal Summoned, all Cyber Dragons I control become Level 5!"
Cyber Dragon Drei
Level – 4 – 5
Shay's eyes widened as he realised that I now had two Monsters on my field with the same Level.
"And now," I announced, "with these two Monsters, I build the Overlay Network!"
A massive blue cross appeared on my field, resembling an X with a diamond in the middle and with 4 small red diamonds between each point. The two Monsters became two streams of golden light and impacted the middle of the cross. Then it was replaced with a grey helix made of floating cubes as I chanted.
"Dragon forged from the metal of a dying star, arise and destroy all who stand in your path! I Xyz Summon! Awaken, Rank 5, Cyber Dragon Nova!"
The helix burst apart and all the cubes started joining together to create a new Monster. It resembled Cyber Dragon, but it was silver with black armour and two large wings. Built into its chest was a large glowing reactor, resembling an orange sun. It roared as it appeared, ready to annihilate all of Shay's Monsters. Shock dominated Shay's face as I summoned my dragon. Then it changed to rage.
Cyber Dragon Nova
Rank – 5 – Attribute – Light
Type – Machine
ATK – 2100 – DEF – 1600
Summoning Type – Xyz
OU – 2
"I attack your middle Raidraptor with Strident Nova Blaze!" I announced, pointing at the Monster. Nova charged up a massive blast of energy and launched it at Vanishing Lanius, destroying it.
Shay – 4000 – 3200
"I activate my Trap, Raidraptor – Return!" Shay announced, playing his card. "When a Raidraptor is destroyed by battle, I can add it back to my hand!"
"I set one card Face-Down on my field and end my turn." I said, finished setting up my strategy.
"How dare you." Shay said quietly. "How dare you use the Summoning method my people used after you destroyed my home!"
"Destroyed your home?" I asked, slightly confused by his reaction.
"It's my turn. I DRAW! I summon Raidraptor Vanishing Lanius! Now I Overlay my three Monsters in order to build the Overlay Network! From the shadows the falcon soars on wings of courage, talons ready for the rebellion! I Xyz Summon! Take flight! Rank 4, Raidraptor Rise Falcon!"
An even larger mechanical bird with massive talons and two large and sharp wings appeared on my field, its six optics staring down at me, as if I were its next prey.
Raidraptor – Rise Falcon
Rank – 4 – Attribute – Dark
Type – Winged Beast
ATK – 100 – DEF – 2000
Summoning Type – Xyz
OU – 3
"Rise Falcon can attack all of your Monsters at least once!" Declared Shay. "And by using one Overlay Unit, it gains the Attack Points of all of your Monsters. And I shall do so now!"
Rise Falcon
OU – 3 – 2
ATK – 100 – 2200
"Rise Falcon! Destroy her Monster! Ravaging Rebellion!"
"Not good!" I thought as Rise Falcon launched into the air. "If that attack hits, my Nova will be destroyed. If I want to keep it on the field, I might have to use my Face-Down Storming Mirror Force. Wait." My eyes widened in realisation. "Shay put a second card Face-Down and never used it! I could be a Trap for my Trap. I can't risk setting it off, and I can't lose my Cyber Dragon Nova. What can I do?" I then noticed a small flashing button on the screen of my Duel Disk and pressed it. It then displayed the picture of a Monster Card; one I am sure wasn't in my Deck beforehand. "Machine-Nexus? What's a Nexus Type Monster? Never mind, if it does what it says it does, then I can win this."
I looked Shay dead in the eye. "Rise Falcon shall never reach the reality it seeks!" I announced. "I activate the effect of Xyz Protector! When you attack an Xyz Monster on my field, I can remove this card from play and negate the attack and end the Battle Phase!"
The card ejected from my Duel Disk as I picked it up and showed it to Shay. Rise Falcon then ceased its attack and returned to Shay's field.
"I end my turn." He said reluctantly.
"My turn. I draw! Now the effect of my Future Fusion activates, allowing me to show you a Fusion Monster in my Extra Deck. The Monster I choose to show you is Cyber Twin Dragon!"
The card appeared on the field as two cards ejected from my Deck. I picked them up and my Deck shuffled itself. I then slid the two Cyber Dragon cards into the Graveyard Slot on my Duel Disk.
"Now I activate my Cyber Dragon Nova's special ability! By using one Overlay Unit, I can target one Cyber Dragon in my Graveyard and summon it!"
Cyber Dragon Nova
OU – 2 – 1
The original Cyber Dragon appeared on my field again, however, I wasn't done just yet.
"Next I summon another Cyber Dragon Drei! Now its ability activates, making it a level 5 Monster. Now I Overlay my two Cyber Dragons and Xyz Summon another Cyber Dragon Nova!"
A second copy of my Xyz Monster appeared on the field, ready for battle.
"But I'm not done just yet, because I use Cyber Dragon Nova number 1 to rebuild the Overlay Network!"
The cross appeared once again as the Nova with one Overlay Unit became a golden stream of light and entered it, recreating the helix pattern as I chanted.
"Mechanical dragon trapped in an eternal slumber, reawaken and annihilate all who stand in your path in order to bring forth a new rebellion! I Xyz Summon! Return from eternity, Rank 6, Cyber Dragon Infinity!"
The Monster I summoned this time was much larger than Nova, being mostly black and dark grey with red highlights, with its chest plate armour covering the reactor in its chest. It let loose an almighty roar as it towered above Rise Falcon and set its sights on the smaller Monster.
Cyber Dragon Infinity
Rank – 6 – Attribute – Light
Type – Machine
ATK – 2100 – DEF – 1600
Summoning Type – Xyz
OU – 2
Shay's eyes widened with shock when the massive dragon appeared. But I wasn't done yet.
"Infinity's ability activates! It now gains 200 Attack Points for every Overlay Unit it possesses!"
Cyber Dragon Infinity
ATK – 2100 – 2500
"Now I activate Cyber Dragon Infinity's second ability! I can target one Attack Mode Monster on your field and transform it into an Overlay Unit for Infinity! Overlay Absorption!"
Cyber Dragon Infinity roared as it released a blast of wind, transforming Rise Falcon into a sphere of light which began orbiting my dragon.
Cyber Dragon Infinity
OU – 2 – 3
ATK – 2500 – 2700
"It's time for me to end this." I said. "Cyber Dragon Nova, attack Shay with Nova Strident Blast!"
My dragon launched an orange ball of energy at Shay, nearly knocking him off his feet as his Life Points fell.
Shay – 3200 – 1100
"Cyber Dragon Infinity, end this with Infinite Strident Blaze!"
Cyber Dragon Infinity charged up a blast of energy and launched it at Shay, knocking him to the ground and winning the Duel.
Shay – 1100 – 0
Luna – Win
I sighed as the Monsters faded away, relieved that the Duel was finally over. I took out Xyz Protector, the card that quite possibly saved me. I studied it when, suddenly, it dissolved into golden sparks, almost as if the universe said, "I saved you once, but it won't happen again."
I looked at Shay as he started to get up when the gem in my bracelet flashed a blinding red. After it faded, I noticed that Shay disappeared. I looked at my wrist when I heard someone call out my name. I turned around just as Yuya, Zuzu, the three kids and Sora rounded the corner.
"There you are Luna!" Said Yuya, relieved. "We heard roaring and saw smoke and thought you were in trouble."
"Nah." I said. "I just finished my fifth Duel."
"Well." Said Sora. "I guess we should get going then if you're done.
"Okay."
As the others started leaving, Zuzu hung back with me.
"Hey Luna," she said, grabbing my attention, "when we were near the corner, I saw a bright red light. Do you know what that was?"
"I'm not sure." I said, lying slightly. "I never saw what caused it. It just blinded me, and the next thing I knew, my opponent was gone."
"Okay."
As we left the street, only one question was on my mind.
"What are Nexus Monsters, and do I have any more I don't know about?"
…
"Sir." Said Claud, addressing Declan. "We have detected two large bursts of Xyz Summoning energy within the city."
"Was it our assailants?" Asked the silver-haired man.
"One of them does match the signature of the previous attacks, the other does not." Elaborated Claud. "The second one instead matches the Pendulum and Fusion Summons that we detected at the You Show Duel School."
"So," mused Declan, "it seems that Luna is capable of more than we first suspected. Send Dipper, Kit and Julia out to locate the attackers and monitor them. We must find the culprits before another Duelist is attacked."
"Yes, sir."
I thank you for the help with pointing out my accident. I would also like to remind you all that creativity doesn't function too well under pressure, I will post new chapters when, and only when, they are completed. Thank you for reading this chapter. BackfireDuelist4, signing off.
