All was deathly quiet and still, nary a branch swayed in what little of a breeze there was. Cricket song barely audible, frogs only rarely croaking to break up the eerie silence that has washed over the Everfree, the Whitetail-Woods, and threatening to consume Ponyville's nightlife. One thing that did manage to break it however, was the literal thrown-in introduction of a snow-white, naked, bipedal being being haphazardly thrown into the wilds of the Everfree with a cheerful "Have fun Delilah, my "little" forest deity! Remember that I'll be watching, and remember the rules of your first being here. Also don't kill the main protagonist, that'd piss off every one! Ta-ta for now! I'll be watching for my entertainment!~"
And with a muffled angry groan from the tall prone figure on the ground in reply, the being that dropped them off, vanished in a puff of black staticy smoke.
She could tell it was night at least, her eyes may not function but her sense of plants and animals still does, and the plants and animals say "Sleeping, pipe it down!" and a scant few were looking for mates in what seems to be a semi-opportune time. Of course her master would drop her here, why not put a forest deity in a forest first thing, why not do something like throw her in a city or snow-riddled landscape for once, at least then it'd be somewhat of a challenge.
She couldn't gauge the strength of this reality just yet. She had yet to un-plant her face from the dirt... it was comfy for something of nature to attempt to return to the earth in all sorts of ways but this way was a bit... unorthodox. So she eventually pulled herself up with another groan, and brushed herself off, shaking a bit to get any debris off of her, goodness knows her master, Outsider, was constantly covered in filth, grappling her probably covered who-knows-what. She stretched around, claws flexing, back arching, and mouth tearing open to sigh and grumble before promptly starting to lick herself clean. Finding a bug attempting to latch on her back fur was annoying but with a swipe of her extremely long tongue it was gone and the dirt it came with gone as well.
Eventually, she finished her grooming. White thick patches of fur seamlessly blended into equally white skin, claws the only differing color and that was due to a fade of black to white that was also pretty much seamless. She was tall, extremely tall, thin but still well muscled, as if she was elegantly draped silk on a statue of white porcelain. The fur patches barely looked like fur at all, blending so well with the skin it simply looked like part of it until one got close enough, the only true indicator being the fluffy triangular tuft on her back, running along her spine. Inner thighs, shoulders, back, ankles, just a bit on the back of her neck, and finally a deer-like tail was where her fur resides on her body. A flat face, only defining features being that of milky eyes that had a slight blue-ish tint hidden in them, a mouth that only appeared when she opened it, and when it did it looked like jagged torn paper, revealing a black void behind the not yet formed lips, only when she left it open long enough did it smooth itself into lips, that once closed only remelded into seamless skin. On her head, straight white hair, with a singular black stripe through it. Long almost foot-long claws on four toes, and it equally showing on four-digit hands. Both lacked pinkys. She wasn't human, and mentally she was thankful she at least had that going for her, the spine and foot are a catastrophe, and she'd have pinkies she'd never use, she gets to stay her normal self for once which almost, almost makes being thrown here worth it.
Tendrils grew from her back and she patted around with them, feeling alien roots, leaves, debris, and bugs all around her, she patted around, feeling things out before she started feeling upwards with her tendrils, searching for the canopy, the top of the trees, while also getting acquainted with them. Slowly she adjusted her own height the more the tentacles were able to feel, and she got a sense for her environment. Things were still black, as usual for her, so she had to feel around. She slowly built a connection with the various trees around her, sensing them out, and gently easing in with their senses to connect to them, slowly but surely a picture forming in her head, how the roots touched under the soil beneath her, what animals have scratched or gnawed on them, or are collecting sap, what leaves or branches may need to go, how they like to grow to scare off those that seek to harm them. She reached out, smoothing a hand over an older tree next to her, testing her powers, breathing life into it with only the slightest push-back before it gave and it, and the things close by flourished. She was fully connected to this one, and through it she would connect with more, but for tonight, she would break the silence by gently clipping branches and leaves with her claws, tending to her new wards with extreme tenderness.
It was slightly tiring work, enough to at least wind her by the time the night practically was thrown away and replaced by morning. The fast change definitely agitated her, but the feeling of the plants waking up was enough to placate her ire. She huffed, pressing against her trees the last few times, marking them by scent, before she gently urged the trees to stretch out their branches and spread their roots a bit more, turning over soil, refreshing themselves, and letting the worms go crazy with the debris and needed moisture they got from the movement. They moved to more key positions, before unfurling and slowly but steadily stretching, light was starting to beam down into the center of the impromptu clearing made, and Delilah took full opportunity to make herself smaller, and curl up right in the center for a nap.
Her powers, finally able to leak out when she slept, put everything around and outwards in a state of rapid growth and bloom, grasses, flowers, clover, moss, even fungus grew in the freshly upturned soil as if it was always there. Grasses and moss in particular liked to bloom under and over the napping forest deity. Eggs of all kinds received a great deal of growth, those on the cusp of hatching hatched into birds, snakes, bugs, cockatrice, anything else in close enough range to Delilah and her new-found grove. If one were to look there, they would think it just another ancient spot in the old untouched wild forest, with an odd statue in the middle, and not have any idea that this was all new growth and that things had changed.
It was only a couple hours, but a being such as herself was more than fine with that amount of sleep. She wanted to get up, so she gently urged the moss and grasses to release her, chuckling when she was met with reluctance but pleased they still did so. She sat up, head tilting upwards and the sense of happiness coming from her. She excitedly and gently kneaded the moss that had grown under her, excited, because next time she came she may have a nice comfy moss or clover bed to lounge on so long as she encouraged the growth. Such a thing needed water though, or her blood, but she wasn't about to do that without food or water to replenish herself. Her natural aura could only do so much, even if she could will it to do more, she wouldn't. She gets a feeling it'd upset things.
She got up fully after a bit, stretching, moaning pleasurably when joints popped and purring a moment when her fur and such settled back down. She sighed slowly, melodically. She let her tentacles out again, sensing what she could through the plants she's grown and connected with as she walked from her grove, before the connection sputtered off and she was left walking blind, not that that was new at all. She let her tentacles feel out the path in front of her, and gently spread her influence, letting grasses and flowers grow under her feet, making a not-so-visible path back to her grove that she could personally sense out better. This path also let her walk in as straight of a line as she could in the forest. She could tell some things avoided her, somethings would following her curiously for a while before trailing away and off back the way they came. Others communicated, barks and baying howls that told others of her passing through, and beckoning them to sate their curiosity of her.
She stopped at some point, humming lightly and sitting down, stretching the almost paw-like feet she had, and letting the claws flex before retracting them and sitting up. Putting out a welcoming aura of sorts, it was all mental for her, but her psychic abilities let the feelings extend outwards and effect other things, like the spirit-laden wooden wolves. She's always had a fondness for wolves, one made of wood and leaves just made these ones even better. She didn't extend a hand or tendril to them, instead, let them come near, and sniff and nip to their content. She sensed a particular couple nearing even as the floral nature around them bloomed and changed, spreading from her outwards, and she could sense the extreme curiousity and unhesitant nature of them both that made them boldly cross the threshold of change and trot over to greet her with sniffs, licks, and even going so far to gently brush against and thwap their tails against her. She was pleased, and very slowly reached up, they didn't hesitate to sniff, nuzzle, and nose at the offered limb, and she carefully managed to pet them, and only then did they tense before relaxing. Others in their pack felt this, and she could sense the change. Acceptance.
So she pet the two, slowly connecting to them, and sensing them out, their figures, what pulls and holds them together, and eventually sensing through them, thoughts, emotions, their needs, their wants, their level of sentience, what their flaws are, what their strengths are. She could sense the alphas, only one of the ones she pet was it, she could sense the specific connections between pack members, and the other was watching the pups. She was pleased, but she wanted directions, to the proverbial edge of the woods or a water source. They obliged, and one came to let her put a hand on their back and be led through. She was thankful, she promised safety in her territory, and she would uphold it, and pretty soon they'd be hers anyways.
She was led to what just so happened to be both the edge and a water source after a while. She nuzzled the wooden wolf thankfully, giving off a pleased sounding chuff and a brief peck, a thank you mixed with a goodbye. She patter around to find the water level, and shifting onto all fours, she drank, as she did, the flora along the bank, including the trees grew and bloomed, letting her powers come into affect, she even effected the water, moss on the stones flourished, fish and bug eggs hatched, even the smallest of microbes were swept up in the bloom of life that was quickly spreading downstream.
She sensed another animal, but her senses told her it was very much different, she suspected she'd meet possible locals soon but not this soon. She kept drinking as if nothing was wrong, as if she didn't know they were there. She utterly ignored them. Playing the act of a blind unaware animal had it's advantages.
They stepped on a branch pretty close by, across the embankment, she lifted herself and her head swiveled around, tense and alert, the rise and fall of her chest fast and hard. Milky white eyes widened and she heard the faintest of gasp, that she pretended she couldn't hear. After a few tense minutes, she 'calmed' and she was back on all fours, sipping a bit more water before she papped at the water, feigning reluctance, then turning around and walking towards the forest, purposely taking very tactile steps and nudging the trees before she disappeared from the local's view. She played her part as the blind animal, it was already time to expand her grove, if the locals hear of her presence, which she knows they will all eventually. No if's about it for certain.
