Finally, it is time to begin the ARC League Championship. I have a feeling that you all will enjoy Luna's first Duel in this chapter, so prepare to be amazed, because the show is about to begin!

I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V, only my character and the cards she uses. Any mention of other characters, shows and concepts are simply to help you understand the situation my character is in, nothing more, nothing less.

Chapter 12: Seeing Red-Eyes

It was the day the Arc League Championship began and all seven of us students stood in front of Principle Boyle as he gave us a pep talk, although when he tried to give us a hug, we all moved out of the way as he fell over and promptly got run over by a bike. When Skip got up again, he then explained to us about the three brackets of the Championship, with Tate, Frederick and Allie being in the Youth Division, while Yuya, Zuzu, Sora and I were in the Junior Division.

We then got on the bus and started heading off when Zuzu suddenly screamed in surprise. When we looked around the bus, we realised Yuya was missing.

When we arrived at the arena, I waited with Sora as everyone else went off in search of Yuya. Zuzu, Allie, Frederick and Tate ran up to us as soon as they finished searching.

"Sora, Luna, have you seen Yuya?" Asked the Fusion girl.

"Mmm, nope, not a lick of him." Replied the candy eater.

"I'm afraid not." I also said.

"Well, Zuzu, what next?" Asked Allie.

"I'm not sure. I called his house, but his mom said he wasn't there. And he didn't go back to the school. I don't have a clue where Yuya wandered off to."

"No problem!" Said a voice. We turned around and saw, to my lack of surprise, Aura Sentia.

"Aura?" Asked Zuzu, surprised to see the fortune teller there.

"If my boyfriend is lost," the small girl said, "then I'm the one to find him."

"What do you mean, boyfriend?" Asked Zuzu as a fiery, rage filled aura appearing around her.

"Zuzu, chill out." Said Tate as the three kids flinched back from the flames.

"I know where Yuya is." Aura continued. "I'm having a vision of him right now as he visits my parents to ask them if he can take me out. Oh, Mommy and Daddy, please say yes."

"I'll be happy to take you out now with one whack." Said an extremely ticked off Zuzu, now holding her teleporting fan.

"Save that fury for your first opponent, Zuzu." Said Tate as he and the kids cowered behind her.

"What should we do?" Asked Allie. "They're gonna start the Championship soon."

"Have no fear." The Ritual user said. "If my clairvoyant powers can't locate Yuya, then the power of my love will."

Aura then sat down and put a cloth on the ground and placed her crystal apple-shaped ball on top of it.

"Where are you, my darling sweetie pie?" She asked, waving her hands above it, blissfully unaware of how much danger she was in right now. "Oh, speak to my heart, honey dearest. I see him!" She suddenly declared, surprising the kids and shocking Zuzu out of her rage.

"Where is Yuya?" Asked Allie.

"That way." Aura said, pointing straight ahead.

"Huh? I don't see him." Said Tate.

"Because you're not looking hard enough! He's way over there on that bridge." She said, making it painfully obvious that she was pointing at the bridge through the window, not that area of the room.

We waited for a while, with the kids and Zuzu getting more worried about Yuya making it on time.

"Don't worry." I said. "Yuya will arrive when he is meant to arrive, not a moment earlier and not a moment later."

"Oh, great, I finally found you."

We turned around and saw Yuya running towards us.

"Told you so." I said smugly.

"He's back." Said Zuzu.

"You miss me?" The tomato-haired boy said.

"Did we miss you?" Zuzu asked, grabbing Yuya's hand. "We drove ourselves crazy all morning trying to track you down."

"Well, now you can call off the search." Said Yuya. "We better get movin'. Don't wanna be late."

"You can be so annoying." Zuzu said under her breath.

"Me, annoying?" Yuya asked rhetorically as he then proceeded to walk face-first into someone built like a brick wall.

"Watch where you're waddlin', small fry." Said the man as he turned around.

"Grizzelpike!" Yuya said in shock, recognising the person.

"I'm shocked that you didn't decide to hightail it out of the championship, just like your wimpy old man once did." Grizzelpike said.

"What'd you say?" Asked Yuya angrily.

"I still can't figure out how the son of a despicable coward beat Sledgehammer."

"Classification confirmed." I thought. "Identification for Grizzelpike, massive bully."

"Who's he?" Asked Sora, confused as to who this person is.

"Don't know." Said Tate, equally confused.

"No Sakaki is worthy of Dueling in this stadium." Grizzelpike continued to say. "Now, how's about I show you and your lousy cards where the exit is?"

"Back off, Grizzelpike!" Shouted a familiar voice.

"Gong!" Said Yuya, surprised to see the Synchro user here.

"Ha, so you're still this shrimp's bodyguard, eh?" Said Grizzelpike. "That figures. Once a coward always a coward."

"I'd be careful what you say about my best friend." Gong warned.

"The opening ceremonies will kick off shortly!" Announced a man from the speakers. "All Duelists, please take your places behind your team banners!"

"Heh, tough talk means squat to me." The burly bully said. "Let's see how tough you are on the field." He then walked away, leaving us to steam a bit in slight anger.

"That guy gives skunks a bad name." Said Gong.

"I'm glad to see you, Gong." Said Yuya. "I was worried you wouldn't make the cut."

"Ha, you can't keep a good Duelist down." The large man said. "Just before the registration deadline, Gong got just enough wins to make it."

"You did? All right! Put'er there, buddy."

The two grasped hands in celebration, then Gong took his place behind the banner for his school as the announcer took his place on the field.

"Greetings to all my fellow Dueling fanatics both near and far." Said a familiar voice. "The day we've been yearning for has arrived as we flip the 'on' switch for this year's ARC League Championship. My name's Nico Smiley and I'm thrilled to be your opening ceremony host from coast to coast. So let the ARC League Championship begin! Our daring Duelists will march in by school. Take it away, Joy."

"Thanks, Nico." Said a second announcer. "First up, the Leo Institute of Dueling. Last year, Leo dominated the Championships by winning all three divisions. With the largest contingent of Duelists in this year's Championship, they're a hands-down favourite to make another trophy sweep."

Yuya and Zuzu's eyes widened as they saw Shay walking in with the Leo Duelists.

"That guy?" Said Yuya.

"He's Dueling for Leo now?" Said Zuzu.

"Our second group is determined to chop its way to victory." Continued Joy. "It's the Banded Warrior Academy, the most powerful proponents of martial arts style Dueling. Their best student, Iggy Arlo, finished second in the Junior League last year and is now out for revenge. And stepping up next, a team from far across the sea, the mysterious Knights of the Duel Disk. Behind them, we have another hometown team and I'm sure they're ready to take down the competition! Entering the stadium now is the Abracadabra Academy, famous for their philosophy of Dueling by deception. Their star pupil is Trick Taggart."

"So you know the guy that was marching in with the other Leo students?" Asked Zuzu as we lined up.

"Yeah." The tomato-haired Duelist replied. "I watched that guy take on three elite Leo team members all by himself."

"You're not the only one to have a one on one encounter with him." I said, surprising the others. "He was my fifth opponent."

"Seriously?! How did you beat him?" Asked Zuzu, shocked.

"I was lucky." I responded. "That guy uses a Raidraptor Deck, which focuses on Xyz Summoning and Rank-Up-Magic cards. It makes him a powerful opponent."

I then turned my attention back to Joy just as she announced the next team.

"Rolling in now are the Dueling Dynamos, home to some of today's hottest singers, dancers, and Duelists. There's Micky Starlet. She looks sweet, but in combat, she's ferocious."

We started walking towards the arena and as we entered the light, Joy introduced us.

"Walking into the spotlight now are students from that small training facility for Dueltainers, the You Show School."

"Go, kids!" Shouted Yoko. "Break a Duel Disk."

"Not going to do that, but I'll do my best." I thought, smiling and waving at the crowd.

"Battle your opponents with that old You Show razzamatazz." Cheered Skip.

"This crowd has its radar screens tuned to You Show's Yuya Sakaki." Announced Joy. "His Pendulum Summoning has become the talk of the Dueling world. I expect we'll see him unleash it early on in this tournament."

We all lined up at the podium where the tournament chairman gave a speech.

"Greetings, Duelists." He began. "You have battled hard to be here. The fact that you stand before me now is proof that you are truly among the elite. I know that in the coming days you will face the challenges ahead with distinction and dignity."

After he finished, everyone in the crowd clapped as Nico then stood up and spoke.

"Now one of our competitors will recite the Duelist's Oath." He said. "And the honour goes to You Show School's Yuya Sakaki!"

"Ah! What do you mean me?!" Asked the Pendulum user, shocked.

"Recite the Duelist's Oath?" Said Zuzu.

"This won't end well." I said.

"Thanks for picking me, but I decline." The boy said.

"Our marshals will now escort Yuya to the podium." Nico said. Two men then appeared and picked up Yuya, carrying him against his will to the podium as the rest of us just watched.

"Yuya, proclaim that oath with pride, buddy." Said Gong.

The marshals then threw Yuya onto the platform and he landed on his face, with everyone but us You Show students laughing at him.

"And now the Oath." Said Yuya after getting up off the ground. "I, Suya Yokaki…" He began, with most of us Duelists falling over from the embarrassing start. I myself just facepalmed, hard.

"His brain has shut down." Observed Tate.

"Like it's full of sauerkraut." Said Frederick.

"I promise!" Yuya continued to say with swirls in his eyes.

"Yuya, stop freaking out!" Called Zuzu. "Say it in your own way."

After hearing this, Yuya took a moment to calm down. Then he started speaking again.

"Greetings, fellow Dueling fans." He said, spreading his arms to the crowd. "I was asked to come up here and recite the Duelist's Oath. But since most of us know it by heart, I've decided instead to tell you something you don't know, the story of why I'm here today. You probably know by now that I'm the son of Yusho Sakaki. He was one of the most popular Dueltainers who ever stepped into a stadium, and definitely one of the greatest. Then, one day, he shocked everybody when he disappeared just before a big Duel. Some kids used to tease me by saying I was a coward like my father. So I worked hard to prove 'em wrong. But I still couldn't face my problems. Until one day I learned how to Pendulum Summon. Sure, my Duels were more difficult, but I was having fun again. I still have a lot to learn and have a long journey ahead of me, but I'll never forget to have fun along the way, because that's what we all love about Dueling, and that's why we're all here. Someday I'm going to become a great Dueltainer like my father was. I promise that I'll never stop trying to improve my skills, that I'll always Duel fairly, and that I'll do everything to help others love Action Dueling as much as we do."

After hearing his speech, everyone, including me, burst into a round of applause for such an excellent speech. Well, all except Shay, but then again, he's Shay.

"Is he great or what?" Nico said. "Ha, that was even better than the official Duelist's Oath. Take a bow, kiddo, you're a hit."

Yuya then bowed and returned to our schools line.

"It's now time for our Duelists to learn who they will be facing in their first matches. Okay, wannabe champions, time to slot your competition datacards into your Duel Disks."

"What do we need these for anyway?" Asked Yuya.

"They'll keep track of us and how we're doing." Replied Zuzu.

"I'm no tech expert," said Nico, "but I'm told our central computamajiggy bleeps out teeny info-bolts right to your cards to tell them your opponent. We'll use the cards to keep track of winners and losers, then tally those results to calculate the next matchups."

"I wonder if I can use these to order snacks, too." Said Yuya.

I then took out the card that I received at the reception and slotted into the Spell/Trap slot in my Duel Disk and a picture of myself and another boy appeared on my Duel Disk's screen.

"Now let's see who I'm gonna Duel first?" Said Yuya. "Sylvio?!" He said, surprised.

"My first opponent is… Julia!" Said Zuzu, also surprised.

"I'm gonna Duel… tomorrow." Said the tomato-haired boy after he read the date of his Duel.

"My Duel is this afternoon." Zuzu said.

"Gong's gonna have his work cut out for him." Said the Heavy-Strong Duelist.

"Why? Who's your opponent?" Asked Yuya.

Gong then turned his Duel Disk around and we saw a familiar face on the screen.

"Grizzelpike?!" Said Yuya.

"We were destined to Duel." Said Gong.

"Mien Duel starts after we wrap up here." Said Frederick.

"And then I'm up next." Said Allie.

"So Frederick, Allie and Zuzu will represent the first wave of Team You Show." Exclaimed Yuya.

"And you, Sora?" Asked Tate.

"I Duel tomorrow. Against someone from the Leo Institute." Said Sora.

"A Leo Duelist? Which one?" Asked Yuya.

"Some guy named Shay Obsidian. See for yourself."

He then turned his screen towards us, showing the face of the Raidraptor user.

"You're going up against Shay Obsidian." Said Zuzu, slightly shaken.

"There you are, Zuzu." Said Julia. "My first victim of the tournament."

"Julia, I know you don't like me and all, but I gotta warn you, there's this guy named Shay who's infiltrated LID's tournament team."

"Shay's been at the Institute all year." Said Julia. "He was in my Advanced Dueling Linguistics class last semester."

"What?!" Said Zuzu, shocked by Julia's claim.

"What are you talking about?" Asked Yuya.

"Are you sure about that?" I asked Julia.

"Of course I am." She replied. "Why wouldn't I?"

"Nothing." I replied. "I'm just wondering how much you three remember about him."

"Oh, Luna," asked Yuya, "who's your opponent?"

"My Duel's tomorrow against a Leo Duelist as well." I replied. "Against a guy by the name of Reginald Flare."

"Huh, I wonder what Deck he plays." Said Yuya.

I then got the feeling of being watched and looked up, locking eyes with Declan Akaba. After a couple of seconds I looked away and followed the others to watch Frederick and Allie Duel. The results were Frederick winning with his Sketchbeast Monsters, but Allie lost against Reilly and his C/C Deck. Next up was Zuzu, who went against Julia and managed to come out on top.

That evening, I was in my room, sorting through my Decks, trying to see which strategies would be the most successful in my Duels, when I noticed a small envelope on the table. I picked it up and opened it, seeing a letter inside it.

"Dear, Luna." It read. "The trials ahead will be difficult for you, so I'm giving you these cards to help you. Good luck in the tournament."

I read the letter again, realising that it wasn't signed. I looked inside the envelope and took out the cards. There were 18 in all:

Homunculus the Alchemic Being, Number 39: Utopia, Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray, Shining Number 39: Utopia Prime, The Supremacy Sun, Yubel, Number 71: Rebarian Shark, Proxy Dragon, Card of the Soul, Card of Fate, Timaeus the Knight of Destiny, Blue-Eyes Alternative White Dragon, Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon, Future Number 0: Utopic Future, Future Number 0: Utopic Future Dragon, Cyber Dragon Sieger, Polymerization and Chaos Form.

I looked at the cards for a bit, then decided to put them in my Decks, Homunculus and my three Utopias went into my Shaddoll Deck, my two Card Spells, Yubel, Sun, Proxy and Shark took place in my Order of the Spellcasters Deck, Timaeus was placed in my Atlantis Deck, and finally, my remaining 7 cards went into my Cyber Dragons Deck. There, perfect.

The next day I was making my way to the LID stadium when two people and Yuya ran past me.

"It's gonna be one of those days, isn't it?" I asked myself rhetorically. I sped off after Yuya, catching up to him quickly.

"Hey, Yuya." I said when I was next to him. "What's going on?"

"That guy stole Gong's sash!" He replied.

"Really?" Of course I knew that before his Duel, Gong received a new sash from his father, but I knew that these events have to pass, so I went along with it. Eventually we ran into the park and was promptly surrounded.

"Uh, what's going on?" Asked Yuya.

The guy next to him then walked forward, chuckling.

"Where're you going?"

"You dope!" He said. "You fell for it!"

"You never shoulda got on Grizzlepike's bad side!" The goon who had Gong's sash said.

"Ambush." I said. I then took out my Duel Disk and activated it. Yuya did so too, as well as the goons. Then the Dueltainer's Disk rang.

"Zuzu?" He said, answering it.

"Hey, Yuya!" The pink-haired girl said.

"Can't really talk right now, but don't worry, I'm okay. And let Gong know his sash'll be okay, too."

The boy then hung up and we drew out cards from our Decks.

"LET'S DUEL!" We cried, beginning the battle.

Yuya & Luna – 4000 each

Goons 1, 2, 3, 4 – 4000 each

"I'll start the Duel!" I announced. "I set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 2 Reflection of Endymion and Scale 8 Magister of Endymion."

My two Monsters appeared in their respective pillars of light, with a stylised 2 and 8 underneath them. The red pendulum then appeared above me and started swinging.

"Now I can summon Monsters between Level 3 and Level 7 all at the same time." I then raised my hand above me. "Swing far Pendulum, and carve your arc through the sky! My Monster is ready, to take center stage!"

My ace for my Spellcasters Deck appeared on the field. He was a large man wearing a black robe and a helmet-like mask that covered his head and face, leaving only his mouth visible. Behind him hovered a magical circle much like my Reflection's with his cape flowing though it. in his hand hovered a sphere which was surrounded by a metallic circle hovering in place.

"Welcome to the stage, Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic!" I announced.

Endymion, the Mighty Master of Magic
Level – 7 – Attribute – Dark
Type – Spellcaster
Scale – 8
ATK – 2800 – DEF – 1700

Summoning Type – Pendulum

"I place two cards Face-Down on my field and end my turn." I smiled. "Let's see what you guys got."

Several turns later.

Goons 1,2,3,4 – 0

Yuya & Luna – Win

"Well that was easy." I remarked. "Fun, but easy."

"Come on!" Yuya said, picking up Gong's sash. "Let's go."

We ran at full speed back to the Leo Institute, arriving to see Gong, quite literally, on the edge of defeat.

"Gong!" Yuya cried, gaining the Duelist's attention. He raised the sash over his head, grinning like the Ink Demon himself.

"Yuya." Said Gong, relieved.

"In the flesh!" The boy announced. "Now catch!" Yuya threw the sash at Gong, who caught it and tied it around his back.

"Yuya! Gong's glad you're safe. And for the sash Gong thanks you! Time to wrap up this Duel."

And wrap it up he did. Gong summoned his Superheavy Samurai Battleball and used it to pull off an impressive Synchro Summon with Big Benkei on Grizzlepike's field. Then he used his Warlord Susanowo to end the Duel, winning his first round of the championship.

Next up was Yuya, who was versing Sylvio, who, unfortunately, was still convinced that Yuya was guilty of attacking him. The Duel they performed together was vastly entertaining, with the pendulum literally swinging both ways as Sylvio showcased his new Deck, the Yosenju Pendulum Deck. But Yuya won in the end with his Beast-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.

I walked towards the arena as Nico announced the next Duel.

"While that was an amazing Duel." Nico said. "I have a feeling that this next one will be even better, as we will be seeing You Show Duel School's Luna Midnight taking on Leo Institute's Reginald Flare!"

The boy in front of me was wearing black clothing like me, and had black hair that was pointed up behind him at the sides and crimson red eyes.

"You're my opponent then?" I said, smiling. "I have the feeling that this'll be fun."

"I've never had the experience of facing someone from your school before." Reginald said. "If you're anything like Yuya or that Zuzu girl, I have a feeling that your Dueling will be interesting."

I smiled and activated my Duel Disk with a flick of my arm.

"And now, we will be finally see where these two Duelists will be duking it out in their Duel!" Nico announced as the sphere with a giant Action Card in it burst, revealing the card within. "And it is the Action Field Dragon Ravine!"

The field changed until we were in a massive ravine with dragons flying overhead, and I could see various fossilised remains of dragons in the stones.

"Duelists ready for battle!" I announced.

"Burning their way through the ravine of the dragons!" Chanted Reginald

"We will fight onwards!"

"And see who will go on to be the victor!"

"Action…" Nico began.

"DUEL!" We announced as the Action Cards dispersed.

Luna – 4000

Reginald – 4000

"If you don't mind, I think I'll take the first turn." Said Reginald. "And to start off, I will summon the Black Dragon's Chick."

A baby dragon appeared on his field, cueing the large "Aww." from the girls in the audience when they saw it.

Black Dragon's Chick
Level – 1 – Attribute – Dark
Type – Dragon
ATK – 800 – DEF – 500

"Did he just say, 'Black Dragon'?" I thought to myself. "Don't tell me…"

"Now I activate Chick's special ability!" My opponent announced. "I can now send him from my field to the Graveyard in order to summon the legendary Red-Eyes Black Dragon!"

The baby dragon disappeared and was then replaced by a large black dragon with piecing red eyes. It roared as it appeared shocking the audience into silence.

Red-Eyes B. Dragon
Level – 7 – Attribute – Dark
Type – Dragon
ATK – 2400 – DEF – 2000

"Are you seeing this, folks!" Nico cried "Reginald just amazed us by summoning one of the most legendary Monsters in existence, the Red-Eyes Black Dragon! Let's see how Luna will cope facing such a beast!"

I myself was shocked into silence; my worst fear confirmed.

"Is something wrong with Luna?" I heard Allie ask. "She doesn't seem to be happy to see that dragon."

"Dunno." Yuya said. "I've never seen her act like that before."

I then started walking for a nearby cave.

"Hey, where's she going?" Asked Allie.

As soon as I was deep enough in the cave, I let loose the storm inside of me.

"RED-EYES?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! WHY DID I HAVE TO FACE A RED-EYES DUELIST?!" I then left the cave with a normal look on my face, like nothing happened.

"I guess we know now." Said Gong.

"Okay." Said Reginald, slightly surprised at my outburst. "Well, next I activate the Spell Card, Ancient Rules. This allows me to summon a Level 5 or higher Normal Monster from my hand without Tributing. I choose to summon my Summoned Skull!"

A large demon with visible bones appeared on his field, roaring.

Summoned Skull
Level – 6 – Attribute – Dark
Type – Fiend
ATK – 2500 – DEF – 1200

"I end my turn with that."

"My move." I said. "I draw." "This isn't the best hand to have when facing a Duelist like Flare. But I'll have to make do." "I place my Scale 8 Magister of Endymion in the Pendulum Scale."

As my Monster appeared, I heard the crowd whispering in shock.

"Did she just say Pendulum."

"No way, I thought that Yuya Sakaki was the only one who could Pendulum Summon."

"Don't tell me that she can Pendulum Summon just like Yuya and Silvio did."

"Next I set two cards and a Monster Face-Down." I said. "Then I activate Spell, Pot of Desires! This card allows me to banish 10 cards from my Deck Face-Down and then draw two cards."

"10 cards?!" Said Reginald, shocked. "You're banishing 10 cards from your Deck just to draw 2. That has to be the craziest thing I've ever seen someone do!"

"Yet I'm doing it." I said, drawing my two cards. "Not the cards I was hoping for, but they'll do." "I activate the Spell, Spellbook of Secrets. This allows me to add one 'Spellbook' card from my Deck to my hand. The card I'm adding is Spellbook of Power. Next I activate Arcane Barrier. And since I activated three Spell cards, I add three Spell Counters to my Magister. I end my turn."

"I draw." Reginald said. "Summoned Skull attacks your Face-Down Monster!"

I watched helplessly as my Magical Undertaker was destroyed.

"Red-Eyes attacks you directly!"

"Not so fast!" I said, taking a card from my hand. "I activate Dragon's Sacrificial Gift. Since you're attacking me directly, I can now negate that attack and draw 2 cards."

"Where did you get that?" Flare asked me as I drew my new cards.

"When I went into the cave to scream my lungs out, it seems that the universe decided to give me this card as an apology. Speaking of which, since you destroyed a Spellcaster and I activated a Spell, the effects of Magister of Endymion and Arcane Barrier activates, giving them both Spell Counters."

"Well played." Reginald said. "I guess you are better at this than I thought you were. I end my turn."

"Thanks for the complement." I replied with a smile. "Now it's my turn, I draw!" "Thank you universe." "Now I set the Pendulum Scale with my Scale 2 Reflection of Endymion and Scale 8 Magister of Endymion." I placed the card on my Duel Disk, finishing the Scales and making my red pendulum appear. "Now I can summon Monsters between Levels 3 and 7 all at the same time! Swing far pendulum, and carve your arc through the sky! My Monsters are ready, to take center stage! Welcome to the field, Magical Abductor and Mythical Beast Medusa!"

My two Monsters appeared, much to the shock and awe of the audience.

Magical Abductor

Level – 3 – Attribute – Earth
Type – Spellcaster

ATK – 1700 – DEF – 1400
Summoning Type – Pendulum

Mythical Beast Medusa
Level – 4 – Attribute – Light

Scale – 4
ATK – 1500 – DEF – 1500
Summoning Type – Pendulum

"And there it is!" Announced Nico. "Luna has just performed a perfect Pendulum Summon. This is definitely the most exciting bout yet!"

"Since I activated a Spell Card, Magister of Endymion gains a Spell Counter!" I smiled at a card in my hand. "All the preparations are complete. Now let's see if my new card will pull through." "I now Tribute my two Monsters! I now call forth one of the most powerful cards in my Deck. Appear, The Supremacy Sun!"

A burning light appeared in the wake of my two Pendulum Monsters and a new creature took the spotlight. It looked like a large man with red skin wearing black and gold amour. He had no legs but floated in place as golden light appeared behind him, forming a star-like pattern. On the center of his chest plate, he had the emblem of a sun.

The Supremacy Sun
Level – 10 – Attribute – Dark
Type – Fiend
ATK – 3000 – DEF – 3000

"That is the strongest Monster on Luna's field." Exclaimed Nico. "Is Luna going for the gold?"

"I've never seen Luna summon that Monster before." Said Yuya.

"Neither have I." said Zuzu. "Let's hope she can win with it."

"Supremacy Sun, attack Summoned Skull!" I ordered, pointing at the fiend.

Reginald jumped onto Red-Eye's back and flew off, snagging an Action Card just as The Supremacy Sun launched a stream of fire at his Skull.

"I don't think so!" He announced. "I activate Evasion, allowing my Monster to dodge your attack."

"Dang it." I said. "So close. I activate one of my Face-Down Cards, Pitch-Black Power Stone, and use its effect, transferring one of its three Spell Counters to my Arcane Barrier! That's all for now."

"I draw!" When Reginald saw his card, he smiled. "Guess what. I'm gonna throw a curve ball into your plan."

"What?!" I said, surprised.

"I activate the Spell, Red-Eyes Fusion!"

"What's this?" Asked Nico. "It seems that Reginald is going to amaze us further by Fusion Summoning!"

"I fuse together my Red-Eyes Black Dragon with my Summoned Skull! Legendary Dragon, join together with the strongest of fiends to summon a new beast! I Fusion Summon! Arise, Archfiend Black Skull Dragon!"

A massive dragon appeared on my opponent's field roaring. It was large and was literally a fusion of Red-Eyes and Summoned Skull.

Archfiend Black Skull Dragon
Level – 9 – Attribute – Dark
Type – Dragon
ATK – 3200 – DEF – 2500
Summoning Type – Fusion

"No way." I whispered. "It's stronger then my Sun."

"My dragon now attacks your Supremacy Sun!" Announced the Red-Eyes Duelist.

The Monster charged up a beam and shot it at The Supremacy Sun, destroying it and pushing me back with the shockwave.

"Gahh!" I cried as I hit the ground, hard.

Luna – 4000 – 3800

"Now my Dragon's special ability activates!" My opponent announced as I slowly got up. "Since you took damage, you now take damage equal to the Attack Points of a Red-Eyes Normal Monster in my Graveyard."

My eyes widened with fear as the ghostly image of Red-Eyes B. Dragon appeared and launched a fireball at me, knocking me back even further.

Luna – 3800 – 1400

Pain. That was all I was feeling at that moment. In my entire time I have been here, I only took small amounts of damage when I Dueled. But this hurt. A lot.

"I end my turn."

I stood up shakily, wincing slightly.

"This guy is strong." I thought to myself. "I don't know if I'll be able to beat him. If I'd known that I was facing this Deck, I could have chosen my Cyber Dragons, or my Legendary Dragons of Atlantis. No. I have to win this, no matter what. I can't just give up in the face of impossible odds. Yugi didn't. Neither did Jaden or Yusei or Yuma. I just have to believe in the heart of the cards. I have to not just claim I can win; I have to know and believe I can." I placed my hand on the top of my Deck, not noticing that the top card was now glowing. "I'm not giving up!" I said out loud. "Not until the last card is played! It's my turn! I DRAW!"

As I drew the card, I brought forward a powerful gust of wind, and the card shone brightly in my hand. Unnoticed by me and anyone else, the pupils of my eyes were now glowing a faint blue. I looked at the card when the glow faded, and at first, I was shocked, but then I smiled.

"It's time I turned the tables on this Duel!" I said. The sky then darkened, and spotlights appeared, shining on me. "Ladies and Gentlemen! Boys and Girls! It's about time I got the real show underway!"

"Looks like Luna's got her grove back." Gong said.

"And I bet whatever she's gonna show us is going to be a real showstopper." Said Yuya, smiling brightly.

"Since my Scales are still set, I can still summon Monsters between Levels 3 and 7 all at the same time! I Pendulum Summon! Welcome back to my stage, Magical Abductor and Mythical Beast Medusa! Now I activate the effect of my Supremacy Sun in my Graveyard!"

"An effect from the Graveyard?!" Said Reginald, shocked.

"I can now re-summon him by discarding a card in my hand!" I then discarded Spellbook of Power and retrieved my Supremacy Sun, immediately placing it on my blade. "Now I activate the wonderous Spell, Clockwork Crossroads!"

I placed my new card into my Spell/Trap Card slot and it appeared on the field, displaying the image of a crossroads, with gears spinning in the background.

"When activated, all Monsters become Level 12 until the end of my turn!"

"All of them?!" The Fusion user exclaimed.

"All of them." I confirmed with a smile. "Now watch as I use my Level 12 Magical Abductor and Mythical Beast Medusa to build the Overlay Network!"

"Luna's Xyz Summoning?!" Said a shocked Zuzu.

"No way, I never knew that Luna could Xyz Summon!" Said Yuya.

A large cross appeared behind me as my two Monsters turned into a brown and a gold stream respectively and impacted it. Although, unlike the time I summoned Cyber Dragons Nova and Infinity, a massive tower appeared behind me and roses grew out of the ground beneath my feet. I started chanting, the words flowing from me.

"Almighty Dark Tower, Nexus of the Multiverse, open the door to the forbidden room and release the guardian of time! I Xyz Summon! Arise, Infinite Number 0: Midnight Hope Dragon!"

A massive dragon appeared on my field, its scales as dark as night. Its eyes glowed an emerald green and stars and galaxies swirled on the underside of its wings. It had five claws on it's 'hands' and stood up similar to Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon. It roared, and even time seemed to slow down in its presence.

"I don't believe my eyes!" Exclaimed Nico. "In all my time as a Duel Manager, I have never see an Xyz Monster such as that! This Duel is really heating up!"

"But that's where you're wrong, Nico." I corrected him. "Because this Duel is ending now! I use both of Midnight Hope's Overlay Units to activate both her effects simultaneously! First, all the Special Abilities of your Dragon are negated, then it is transformed into a Normal Type Monster!"

"What?!" Said Reginald as the Fusion Monster Card on his blade had its purple border turn gold.

"Next up, Midnight Hope then cuts your Monster's Attack Points in half and adds them to my Dragon!"

Midnight Hope

"It's time to shine!" I cried. "Midnight Hope, attack his Monster with Chronal Stream!"

My Dragon opened her mouth and launched a stream of blue green fire at Archfiend.

"I'm not giving up that easily!" My opponent cried. "I activate the Action Spell Miracle from my hand to save me!"

"You better not think it'll be that easy!" I said, grabbing an Action Card of my own. "I activate Action Crush! this not only destroys your Miracle, but it also prevents us from adding another Action Card to our hands for the rest of the turn!"

The flame from Midnight Hope hit the Dragon and destroyed it, knocking Reginald back from the shockwave.

Reginald – 4000 – 0

Luna – Win

"And the winner of the round by way of an impressive Xyz Summon is Luna Midnight!" Declared Nico as the crowd cheered. I smiled and walked up to Reginald as the Action Field dissipated and held my hand out to him.

"That was a great Duel." I told him.

"It certainly was." The boy replied, grabbing my hand, allowing me to help him up. "I never expected an Xyz Summon quite like that. I can tell that you're going to do well in this tournament."

"Thanks." I replied. "And I know that I'm gonna do great in the next round."

I then walked back to the You Show group, who were celebrating my victory.

"That was amazing!" The three kids said.

"Luna, why didn't you tell us you could Xyz Summon?" Asked Yuya, smiling.

"Well that would have spoiled the surprise, wouldn't it?" I replied cheekily. "After all, this is a tournament, what if I faced one of you guys in the first round?"

"Good point." Said Gong. "Not revealing what your Deck truly has to offer is a good way to entertain the crowd when you do."

"That Duel was so amazing that I'm fired up for my own one!" Said Sora, grinning with excitement.

"Well good news." I replied. "'Cause your Duel is up next. Now go wow the crowd!"

"Right!"

Sora then left his seat and started walking into the arena, ready for his battle against Shay.

Monitor room, LID.

"Sir, we have finished analysing the data for Luna's Xyz Summon." Claude told Declan.

"And what were the results?" The D/D/D Duelist asked.

"They matched the secondary Summon we detected from her Duel with Shay, but this time, the Summon was twice as strong than before."

"Intriguing." Declan said. "Continue monitoring Luna's Summoning bursts. I want to know if this happens with another method."

"Yes, sir."

And that was chapter 12. I hope you really enjoyed it, because this was the debut of Midnight Hope Dragon, one of my favourite OC cards to make. If any of you have read The Songs of the Spheres, then you would understand that the Dark Tower is basically the center of the Omniverse. And that is where Nexus Monsters originate from. And Hope won't be the only Nexus Monster Luna'll be using. Just you wait, 'cause I have big plans in the works! And for your enjoyment, I shall present to you Midnight Hope Dragon's statistics, as well as the OC Spell that I created, Clockwork Crossroads. Enjoy!
