Sorry for taking so long with updating the chapter. I got a little distracted, so I found it a little hard to get back into the grove of writing. You all probably know what it's like. Anyway, this'll be the first of a group of multichapters that takes place during the tournament. During these, I will be unveilling Luna's Synchro Nexus Monster, but not in this chapter. See you at the end of the chapter.
I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V, only my character and the cards she uses. Any mention of other characters, shows and concepts are simply to help you understand the situation my character is in, nothing more, nothing less.
Chapter 15: The Battle Royal: Part 1
It was now the day of the third round of the tournament, and all 32 – well, 31, as Shay wasn't there – of us stood at the centre of the arena, waiting for the round to begin. Fireworks shot above us, exploding into the sky as the crowd cheered.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the third round of the Arc League Championship!" Announced Nico. "Here are your 32 remaining Duelists."
"I think he means 31." Zuzu said.
"Yeah, Shay's nowhere to be found." Yuya agreed.
"Don't worry." I told the two. "I'm sure he'll join in when the round begins."
"Now, let's get started!" Nico cried. "But not how you all might think, because these competitors won't be Dueling here at the stadium, they'll be Dueling throughout the whole city."
"What?!" Zuzu and Yuya exclaimed simultaneously. I smiled. "Good, everything is going right on track."
"I hope you're ready, ladies and gentlemen." Nico told the crowd. "Because the moment the clock strikes 12, the action will begin and our Duelists will all need to begin searching. Searching for what, you ask? Pendulum Cards hidden all throughout the city, brand-new ones created by the Leo Corporation for this tournament."
"Say what?!" Yuya said, surprised.
"In order to begin a Duel, our 32 competitors will each need to find at least two of these cards."
"So we'll all have Pendulum Cards?" Zuzu asked.
"Which means that we all will be on equal grounds when we eventually face each other." I told my two friends.
"Furthermore," Nico continued to explain, "over the next 24 hours, all of the matches will be upping the ante with Pendulum Cards as the ante. After deciding how many Pendulum Cards to wager, you and your opponent will Duel. Whoever wins gets the Pendulum Cards that were put on the line. But you won't be having to wait in line to Duel because the Action Field Quartet of Quandary will be in effect. Separating the city into four, count them, four different zones for your Dueling pleasure. All right, less than five minutes till we begin. Duelists, start your Duel Disks."
I crossed my left arm over my chest, with my Duel Disk turning on and showing the 'Standby' icon. I raised it above me and it opened up. I let it fall to my side, activating the neon purple blade, then brought it up in front of me, ready for battle.
"Battle Royal Mode engaged." My Duel Disk informed me.
"Now, get set…" Nico told us. A part of the arena directly in front of us started lifting up, providing us with an exit.
"The third round," I thought to myself, "this'll be the toughest round yet. In my previous battles, they were just for fun. Now, the kid gloves are coming off. This'll be a battle for survival, one that I won't lose!"
"The time for talking is over." Nico said. "Now is the time for Traps, Spells, Monsters and much, much more! So get ready for anything because in a throw down like this, anything can happen. Now, on your mark, get set, go!"
"LET'S DUEL!" All 31 of us cried as Nico snapped his fingers, dispersing Action Cards across the city's Duel Zone.
We charged for the exit, ready for the battles to come.

As we all split up to search for our cards, Zuzu, Yuya and I stuck together.
"These Pendulum Cards could be just about anywhere." Zuzu told us while checking a bush.
"I know." Yuya agreed. "Finding them might be harder than actually Dueling for them. This city's huge."
"Bet we'll find them faster if we split up." Zuzu suggested.
"Fine by me." I said. "The sooner we find the cards, the sooner we get to Duel."
"Wait!" Yuya said as Zuzu and I started heading off.
"What's wrong?" Zuzu asked.
"Just be careful, 'kay?"
"You be careful, too, Yuya." Zuzu told him.
As I walked around, I heard the powering up of Action Field projectors and the city suddenly changed, with me being in a highly volcanic area. As I continued to look around, I spotted a card wedged in a crack in some of the volcanic stone. I took it out, seeing it was a Pendulum Card. I continued onwards, eventually ending up in the Iceberg Zone, and was grateful for my jacket. I continued to look around, eventually finding a card in the ice. I activated the blade of my Duel Disk and played The Supremacy Sun, then asked him to melt the ice. When the ice was melted, I took out the card.
"Pendulum Statue Red Demon?" I said, looking at the card. I took out the other one. "The other one I have is Pendulum Statue White Angel. How interesting."
I continued to walk until I eventually entered the lush forest that made up the Jungle Zone. I eventually came across a boy with dark brown hair and grey eyes. He wore brown long pants, black shoes, a dark green shirt and a white school jacket. Pinned to the collar was a LID pin.
"Hello!" I said, gaining his attention.
"Well, what a surprise." He said. "You must be Luna Midnight, correct?"
"Yep." I responded. "Nice to finally see someone else other than the insects."
"You're right." The boy said, chuckling slightly. "My name's David, I saw your two Duels. I have to admit, you're a strong opponent."
"Why thanks. Oh, by the way, I found my two new Pendulum Cards. How about we try both of ours out in a Duel?" I asked.
"That's fine by me." He responded. "I was lucky enough to find four."
"Well, let's not waste any time then." I said, activating my Duel Disk. David did so as well with his white Duel Disk, generating a neon green blade.
"Let's Duel!"
David – 4000
Luna – 4000
"If you don't mind, I'll take the first turn." David told me before choosing a card. "I Set a Monster and a card face-down and end my turn."
"Okay, my move!" I drew my card and looked at my hand. "I summon my Cyber Dragon Zwei!"
A robotic serpentine dragon with green highlights appeared on my field, letting out a mechanical roar as it did.

"Zwei, attack that face-down Monster!" I ordered. "Now Cyber Dragon Zwei's effect activates! When it attacks a Monster that you control, my Dragon gains 300 Attack Points!"

The mechanical dragon charged up a beam in it's mouth and fired it at the Set Monster, flipping it up and destroying it.

"I end my turn."
"My turn." David said, drawing a card. "I summon my Megalosmasher X to the field."
A large creature that resembled a cross between a turtle, a whale and a crocodile, letting off a roar as it did.

ATK – 2000 – DEF – 0
"Now I activate the Trap, Survival of the Fittest!" The Trap flipped up, showing a picture of a T-Rex roaring as meteorites fell from the sky. "Thanks to its effect, I can equip it to one of my Dinosaur-Type Monsters and it gains 1000 Attack Points."
Megalosmasher X
ATK – 2000 – 3000
"Megalosmasher X, attack Cyber Dragon Zwei!"
The dinosaur charged at my Dragon and snapped at it with its large jaws, destroying it.
Luna – 4000 – 2800
"I end my turn, your move, Luna."
"Draw!" I looked at the card and smiled. "I should thank you for destroying my Zwei, because while it's in the Graveyard, its name becomes Cyber Dragon. And since there is at least one Cyber Dragon in my Graveyard, I can activate the Spell, Cyber Repair Plant. When it is activated, I can choose one of its effects. And I choose to add one Light Machine Monster from my Deck to my hand." A card slotted out of my Deck and I picked it up, briefly showing it to David. "And since you have a Monster and I don't, I can summon the one and only Cyber Dragon!"
The large robotic dragon appeared with an almighty roar as it then proceeded to stare down the other Monster.

"Now I summon Cyber Dragon Drei!"
The sleeker counterpart with yellow highlights appeared, ready for battle.

"Drei's effect now activates!" I announced. "When it is Normal Summoned, all Cyber Dragons on the field become Level 5, and thanks to its other effect, Drei's name becomes Cyber Dragon while it's on the field or in the Graveyard."

"Now I Overlay my two Level 5 Cyber Dragons in order to build the Overlay Network!"
As I did this, a girl watching our Duel narrowed her eyes.
The glowing blue cross appeared behind me and my two Monsters became a pair of golden streams of energy and impacted it as I chanted. "Dragon forged from the metal of a dying star, arise and destroy all who stand in your path! I Xyz Summon! Awaken, Rank 5, Cyber Dragon Nova!" The grey helix that appeared burst apart, flowing back together to form my new Dragon. The machine let out a roar and spread out its wings once it appeared.

"An Xyz Summon? Very impressive. You seem to have quite a mastery over your Extra Deck methods." David told me.
"Thanks, but you haven't seen anything yet." I told him. "First, I activate Nova's special ability! By using one Overlay Unit, I can Special Summon 1 Cyber Dragon in my Graveyard, so that's what I'll do!"
A golden orb that was orbiting my Monster was absorbed and Nova let out an almighty roar, bringing back my Cyber Dragon.
"Now I am going to truly amaze you, because I use Cyber Dragon Nova to rebuild the Overlay Network!" Nova became a stream of light and entered the blue cross. "Mechanical dragon trapped in an eternal slumber, reawaken and annihilate all who stand in your path in order to bring forth a new rebellion! I Xyz Summon! Return from eternity, Rank 6, Cyber Dragon Infinity!" The helix burst apart again, forming my new Dragon as it let out a roar, the two Overlay Units orbiting it.

"Infinity's passive ability activates!" I announced. "My Dragon now gains 200 Attack Points for every Overlay Unit attacked to it."

"Now my Dragon's other ability activates!" I told my opponent. "I can target one card on your field and it transforms into an Overlay Unit for Infinity! Overlay Absorption!"
The mechanical Dragon let out a roar and Megalosmasher X transformed into a golden Overlay Unit and began orbiting the Xyz Monster
Cyber Dragon Infinity
ATK – 2500 – 2700
I smiled. "Battle! Cyber Dragon Infinity, attack David directly! Infinite Strident Blaze!"
The Monster opened its mouth and charged up a blast, then launched it at the Dinosaur user, blasting him back.
David – 4000 – 1300
"Cyber Dragon, end this with Strident Blast!"
The remaining Dragon launched its attack on David, who was engulfed in a cloud of smoke and dust. I checked his Life Points on my Duel Disk (I'm not an idiot, I always make sure that my opponent has lost before actually declaring victory), and discovered that he hadn't lost a point. I looked at his field, and saw a Spell Card that wasn't there before.
"I activated the Action Card, Survival Draw." David told me as the smoke cleared. "Thanks to its effect, I can negate the attack and I get to draw a card. And this Spell can only be negated by another Action Card." He then drew his card and added it to his hand.
"Nice." I told him. "You would make an excellent Dueltainer."
"Thank you." The Duelist said. "I think with the kind of cards at your disposal, I bet you would be tough for Declan to beat."
"Well, first I have to beat you. I end my turn."
"My turn, I draw!" he then looked at the cards in his hand and picked two up and showed them to me. "With Scale 1 Pendulum Statue Red Fiend and Scale 11 Pendulum Statue Purple Sword, I set the Pendulum Scale." David then placed the cards on either side of his Duel Disk and the word 'PENDULUM' appeared in rainbow coloured letters between the two. The two Monsters appeared in the glowing pillars, with one being a statue of a fiend and the other being a purple crystal sword. The web appeared in the sky, but the signature pendulum did not appear. "I can now summon Monsters between Levels 2 and 10 all at the same time. I Pendulum Summon! Appear, Babycerasaurus, Sauropod Brachion and Ultimate Tyranno!"
The portal opened and three streams of light shot out of it, forming a small triceratops-like baby dinosaur, a large black and purple dinosaur with a long neck and tail, standing on all fours, and finally, a large, black Tyrannosaurus Rex with multiple spikes all over its body.

"Now I activate the Action Spell, Battle Recovery." David declared, picking up the card. "This allows me to regain the Life Points I lost last battle; however, I cannot use this card for the rest of the Duel, and that includes any copies of it that I pick up."
David – 1300 – 4000
"Let's battle! Ultimate Tyranno's ability allows him to attack each of your Monsters once! Go, my mighty beast! Destroy that Cyber Dragon Infinity!"
Ultimate Tyranno opened its mouth and roared, then charged at my Dragon, opening its mouth wide to devour my Monster whole.
"Oooh, scrap." I said, realising how much danger I was in. I immediately bolted, searching for an Action Card. To my relief, I found one and activated it. "I activate Evasion in order to dodge your first attack!" I declared, sliding to a halt.
"Tyranno, destroy that Cyber Dragon!" My opponent declared. The dinosaur then changed its course and charged at my other Monster. Moving quickly, I ran and grabbed another Action Card and activated it.
"I activate Encore, allowing me to reactivate the Evasion that's in my Graveyard!"
David ran and grabbed an Action Card of his own, then activated it.
"I activate the Action Spell, Deceptive Nature!" He declared. "Now my Brachion's Attack and Defence Points are switched around until the end of the Battle Phase!"
Sauropod Brachion
ATK – 1500 – 3000
DEF – 3000 – 1500
"Sauropod Brachion, attack Cyber Dragon Infinity!"
As the dinosaur charged my Monster, I managed to snag another Action Card and activate it.
"I activate Survival Draw!" I announced. "As you already know, with this card, I can negate your attack and draw a card." I drew my card and looked at it. At first I was surprised, but then I smiled.
"Since you survived the battle," David told me, "all I can do now is activate my Brachion's ability, switching it from face-up to face-down."
The dinosaur roared and burst into gold sparks, then reformed into a face-down card.
"That is all I can do for now; I end my turn."
"My turn." I placed my hand on the top of my Deck. "Please work." I prayed. "Please, please, please, please give me the card I need." I then drew the card and looked at it. "Yes! It worked!" I then took both it and the card I drew last turn and revealed them to David. "With Scale 1 Pendulum Statue White Angel and Scale 10 Pendulum Statue Red Demon, I set the Pendulum Scale!"
I placed both cards on the blade of my Duel Disk, creating the two glowing pillars on either side of me, the chosen Pendulum Monsters rising up in each one. To my right was a statue of an angel, carved out of white stone. Her wings were folded slightly and she wore a white toga. Beneath her was a stylised number 1. In contrast, directly opposite her was a large demon statue. Unlike the angle, this Monster was made of red stone and was kneeling, it's large, bat-like wings folded over it's body. Underneath it was a number 10. Between the two Monsters, my signature red pendulum appeared and began swinging.
"Now I can summon Monsters whose Levels are between 2 and 9 all at the same time!" I announced. "Swing far, pendulum, and carve your arc through the sky! My Monsters are ready, to take center stage!"
The gateway opened up and two lights shot out of it, revealing the two Monsters I chose to summon.
"Making their debut performance are my Cyber Dragon Core and my Cyber Phoenix!"
Cyber Dragon Core appeared different to the other Cyber Dragons before it, due to the fact it resembled a metallic worm with a face. Next to it was Cyber Phoenix, which lived up to its namesake as it looked like a robotic bird with four wings and red feathers.

"Now I Normal Summon another Cyber Dragon Drei!" I said as the familiar silver and gold Dragon appeared. "And now I activate it's effect, changing the Levels of all Cyber Dragons on the field to Level 5."

"Now I Overlay my Core and Drei in order to build the Overlay Network!" The blue cross appeared behind me and the two Monsters flew into it. "I Xyz Summon! Arise, Cyber Dragon Nova!"
The large Dragon appeared on my field once again, giving off a mighty roar.
"Now I activate Cyber Dragon Infinity's special ability, allowing it to transform your Ultimate Tyranno into an Overlay Unit! Overlay Absorption!" The Rank 6 Monster let out a roar and transformed Ultimate Tyranno into an Overlay Unit, which immediately started orbiting Cyber Dragon Infinity.
Cyber Dragon Infinity
OU – 3 – 4
ATK – 2700 – 2900
"Now it's time to take your Monsters out." I told David. "Let me show you Red Demon's Pendulum Ability! When a Monster I control attacks a Monster in Defence Mode, it inflicts piecing Battle Damage! Infinity, attack that face-down Monster with Infinite Strident Blaze!"
My Dragon charged up a blast and shot it at the concealed Brachion, which then flipped face-up.
"I activate Sauropod Brachion's effect!" David announced. "When it is flipped face-up, all other Monsters are flipped face-down!"
"I chain it by activating Cyber Dragon Infinity's special ability!" I quickly said. "When a card effect is activated; I can use one Overlay Unit and negate the effect, then destroy that card."
Brachion roared once as an Overlay Unit attached to Infinity disappeared, followed by the Dinosaur type Monster exploding into golden sparks.
Cyber Dragon Infinity

ATK – 2900 – 2700
"Infinity, redirect your attack and fire at Babycerasaurus!" The attack then hit the baby dinosaur, destroying it as it cried out in distress.
David – 4000 – 1800
"Cyber Dragon Nova." I addressed the Dragon. "Attack David directly with Strident Nova Blaze!"
Nova charge up an attack and launched it at David, flinging him back as his Life Points dropped down to zero.
David – 1800 – 0
Luna – Win
I walked over to David and held my hand out, which he then gratefully took as I pulled him up.
"Congratulations." He told me. "You performed amazingly. Here, since you won, I think you should take this." David then held out a card and I took it. I looked down at it, seeing that it was Pendulum Statue Purple Sword.
"Good luck with the rest of the tournament." David said. "A friend of mine is currently in the Ancient Ruins Zone, perhaps he would give you a run for your money."
"Thanks." I said. "And I'll be sure to tell him you said hi."
The two of us then parted ways, with me heading deeper into the Jungle Zone, unknowingly being followed.
Once again, I apologize for the long wait. I hope you enjoyed the chapter. This is the first time I have ever done a multi part chapter, so I apologize if it is bad.
Moving on, due to messages I got in my inbox, I would like to tell you that while you are entitaled to your own opinions, if any of you share your opinions, I have no problem with that.
With the Action Card called Battle Recovery, I am sorry if I wrote it badly. During the final editing process, I noticed a miscalculation with David's Life Points, so I had to find a way to correct it, along with keeping the climax to the story. That card was the solution.
