Hey! This story is 16000 words long.
Also, can you please tell me if you think I've done a spelling/grammar mistake or something like that please? Thanks!
Now, on with this very long fluff and angst shot!
~~~
Where..where was she?
Her eyes snapped open and her feet touched the ground.
What happened?
Did she..get married to him..?
No..
Where are the others? What happened to them? Are they hurt?
Her head raised up and she stared into the eyes of someone she wants to punch.
"Delara..? Is..it really you?" He asked, holding her hand.
Delara? No, no she's not! He's wrong! When will he get it right?!
"Yes, my love.."
Her mouth had a mind of it's own.
She..
She's not who she is.
Something else was controlling her.
Delara.
Help..
Help..
Help..
Help..
The next 20 minutes went by in a blue, the mind wandering off to think of Jay, but her body was otherwise.
Her eyes were a piercing green instead of her chocolate brown that she had been used to all of her live.
Her body was walking for her, through the grounds of Ninjago that had been pulled out of the surface and was now floating in mid air.
"Step away from him Nya, this guys about to become French Toast!"
Jay..?
Oh how relieved she was to hear his soft voice.
His cute, soft voice.
His freckles scrunched up in anger, and determination in his eyes.
"Help me!" She screamed.
"Please, god help me! I can't stand this any more!"
Nothing. No response at all.
"My name is not Nya. It's Delara. And you will pay for insubordination!"
What..
What was she saying?
This is not her.
Something..someone is controlling her.
And she desperately wanted to be set free.
She wanted to scream.
She wanted to cry.
She wanted to see her friends.
She wanted to see her brother.
She wanted to see Jay.
She wants to go home.
"We must defeat him to safe Nya."
Was that..Zane?
Her eyes travelled over to Jay.
He held a sword.
The sword.
The Sword of Souls.
A sword that she had seen everyone she'd known and love her trapped in.
A sword that could trap people in forever.
A fight began in front of her new eyes, but behind them were begging, pleading eyes with tears in them, crying that someone, anyone, would hear her.
"I wish you still!"
"Zane!"
He..
He..
No.
Why would he do that..?
She could only laugh as the others screamed his name.
His now golden-body clanged onto the wooden ground.
And she could only laugh.
She screamed his name in her mind.
What..what had she done?
What had he done?
"EARTH!"
"FIRE!"
"I wish you both..STILL!"
Kai..Cole..
No..
And again, she could only laugh.
What kind of sick monster had he turned her into?
What kind of monster what she?
Was that..Jay?
Jay was running towards her.
She ran back, wanting to crash into his arms.
However, instead of a smile that plastered on both of their faces, Jay looked at her with a regretful expression.
"Sorry Nya, I have to do this!"
He picked her up and threw her.
She..
She was going to attack him..
No..
"LLOYD!"
Jay's agonising scream echoed through her mind.
He was alone.
She was alone.
"Oh, Jay..I'm so, so sorry..please forgive me.."
Her legs and body were lifted off the ground and she was spin around a few times,her eyes becoming blurry and her body becoming light as she giggled.
She wanted to punch him.
"Let..let go of me!"
Nothing. Nothing was heard.
"Help.."
"Help.."
"Help.."
"Help.."
"Help.."
A sudden burning sensation bursted form her chest.
What..?
Was she having a..?
She blinked her eyes, and everything came back into view. She wasn't being controlled anymore.
It feel good.
"Delara..?"
No, she wasn't her.
Her breathing sped up and the burning feeling got worse by the minute.
Her legs were buckling and her eyes were watery.
Looking back down, she gasped.
"Oh, crap."
~~~
"His magic is failing, now, Jay, now!" Cole yelled, standing up with Kai and running as fast as possible to Lloyd and Zane, and helped them up as the worriedly all stood beside each other, waiting for Jay to make his final, live saving wish.
The lightning ninja nodded at the four, and turned his head back to the djinn. He swallowed, and pulled out The Sword of Souls.
"I wish.."
"That you weren't a djinn!" He yelled. The villain gasped, and clutched his chest. Jay smirked, and put the sword down, panting for air. He had never felt so much relief in his life ever. He could go home..and sleep..and eat..
..And finally express his love for Nya.
"Your wish..is yours to..keep."
Cole ran up to Jay as the djinn faded away, and hugging him tightly, almost crushing his ribcages while the other two teammates made sure Lloyd was okay - as The Green Ninja was slowly turning back to his teenager self. "You saved us, Jay! You saved us!" He exclaimed, with the biggest smile plastered on his face. The mentioned ninja laughed, giving a weak smile to his best friend.
"Cole..*wheeze* you're crushing..meee!" The brunette said, trying to get out of the Earth ninjas grasp, gasping for air. The Black Ninja laughed softly and placed him back down as the other three came up to him and smiled, congratulating him.
"Well done, Jay."
"You did it!"
"Good job buddy!"
Jay blushes at the amount of praise he was getting, and the constant hair ruffling he was getting from rather Kai or Cole. He felt heroic, and boy did it feel good. But first, he needed to find Nya and go home and sleep-
"Jay?" A voice called out to him.
The others changed from a happy expression to a horrified and shocked one immediately. He turned his head around, and so too his eyes widened at what he saw.
Nya was breathing heavily, looking down at what was on her dress, and looked back up into the eyes of her love. She called out his name once more, before her shaking legs gave up on her, forcing her fall to the ground. Jay shouted her name and ran up to the girl, trying to catch up to her before she fell onto the hard and rocky ground.
"The poison hit you too!" He yelled again, holding her small frame in his arms, watching her strength fade away every waking second. Tears were already streaming down her face, and she shut her eyes, whimpering in agony. Jay felt his heart shatter.
The rest of the team quickly rushed over, and stood a few metres away. They were panicked. What were they supposed to do? They're watching their newest teammate die in another teammates' arms and the island they are standing on is crumbling underneath them.
The water ninja whimpered again, and used her cold and pale hand to clutch Jay's top slightly - to get his attention, as he was looking frantically at the others to see if they knew what to do. Obviously, they didn't, as they looked just as panicked at The Blue Ninja.
He seemed to notice, and looked back down at Nya. More tears pooled in his eyes, just seeing her pained expression on her pale face. "Shh, it's okay. I-I'm here. C-Can you see me?" Jay asks, swallowing the lump done his throat. He needed to stay strong. He had to. Just so he could be there for his love.
Nya nodded her head slightly and let go of his shirt, her left arm giving up on her. It falls to side, and she tried her best to move it. "C-Can you s-set me down? I-I.." She coughed slightly, and shut her eyes in pain. "I-I want to talk to the rest of t-the team. Please..?" She finished off her sentence, clutching Jay's hand as tight as possible; which was only a light grasp that she could muster up. The venom had been making its way to her limbs, and it's taking quicker than anyone would like to get to her heart, and then..
..he couldn't even think of it without almost breaking down.
Realising that he hadn't responded to the ninja's request, he nodded and took his free hand off her back and placed her down softly, trying not to put her in anymore discomfort. She groaned in pain and Jay kissed her forehead softly; repeatedly apologising.
The others slowly made their way to the two, and knelt down. The girl smiled weakly at the blurred figures above her, and one, who she assumed was Lloyd, as his green suit stood out from everyone else's, gave a small smile back with a small wave.
Kai felt tears form in his eyes as he stares down at his little sister - someone who had promised to protect from the day he saw her out of the hospital and at home, where he could finally hold her.
-And he had kept that promise when their parents and went missing, then supposedly pass away.
And he had 'broke' that. He truly believes that he wasn't looking out for her enough. He'll never live it down.
His shaky hand threaded through her soft black hair softly, and he let out a shaky, 'I'm-trying-not-to-break-down-in-front-of-you-because-you're-my-little-sister-and-you're-dying' breath. "H-Hey sis..it's Kai..your brother who failed to protect you.." He looked away from her, bitting his lip as he tried not to break down in front of everyone. Cole kissed his forehead, whispering comforting things to him.
Nya lifted her hand up slightly, trying to get her brothers' attention back. She could only touch her two fingers to his leg, because he earns weren't strong or long enough to hold them.
He held her hand tightly back, careful not to hurt her.
"Hey, h-hey, Kai. You d-didn't. You've done enough for me. T-Thank you." He began to run his fingertips throughout her bangs again, trying to soothe her migraine that was just starting to pound into her mind. It was pretty obvious that she was getting one; as she would scrunch her face up and make a low groaning sound.
"Oh, K-Kai, please d-don't c-cry." He didn't even realise that he was crying until Nya pointed it out, her eyebrows creased in pain and sympathy. He used his sleeve to quickly wipe the salty liquid falling from his eyes, and turned back to his beautiful sister dying before him. She turned her attention back to Jay, who was basically having a panic attack. She tried to sit up, but Lloyd held her back down. "Nya, you're too week to sit up. Lie down and try to stay in the least amount of pain possible." He said softly.
Nya shook her head and pointed to Jay. "B-But he's having a panic attack, I-I.." She swallowed the bile in her throat and turned her head back to Jay, who was shaking and breathing heavily. Zane and Nya exchanges looks, then went to Jay. They were the only ones who knew how to calm someone with a panic/anxiety attack. Zane, because he was a robot and knew physical and mental first aid - and Nya knew when they were together. He had one on their second date, so she went to Zane and he calmed him while he taught her what to do.
Nya used her other hand to grip Jay's other hand too, and tried to grip them as tight as her strength could let her as Zane placed a hand on his back. "J-Jay," Nya said. Jay's blue orbs quickly glanced at Nya and he wiped his tears, trying to calm himself, but to no avail. "Jay, breathe. In," Zane said the rest for Nya, as she ran her fingers through his palms in circular motions, trying to help Jay with the little strength she had left.
She loved him, and even if she was in excruciating pain, she was going to help as much as possible to make her 'last moments' memorable.
Jay breathed in and he clutched Nya's hand tighter, while Zane proceeded with the next steps. He was inhaling and exhaling at a normal speed now, and he smiled softly at Zane, before he relaxed and turn back to the love of his life, who began to breath shakily herself.
She still clutched one of his hands with as much strength possible, and she could barely see now. Jay stroked her hand softly, and tried to get her to loose her grip, as it was taking her away.
"Nya, please. Don't use your strength up, it's only gonna make the pain worse." The lightning ninja said, kissing her cheek. She nodded, and loosened her grip. The black haired girl interlocked her fingers with Jay's, and squeezed her eyes shut and other wave of pain made her migraine even worse.
Kai noticed this and whimpered, while Cole hugged him from behind. Although the salty liquid called tears didn't really affect him, they were still careful. "Sis..please don't leave me." His voice trembles even more with each word, still trying not to break down in front of his brothers, boyfriend and biological sister. He goes to grab her free hand, that was cold and limp, before Zane spoke up - a sad tone in his voice.
"No one can touch her without proper clothing now. Her body is almost fully infected with the venom, and one touch can kill you 4. Be careful." The Nindroid says. Kai pulls his hand away and Jay un-grips Nya's hand and stares into her dull brown eyes that glistened from tears in the early evening sun. They were still beautiful eyes, and Jay could get lost in them forever. Just admiring her beauty made the blue ninja blush.
However, that was on the bottom of the list that he loved about her. He loved her..dark and strange sense of humour - but still laughed at really anything Jay said a joke about. He loved her strength, even though she had been forced to marry someone who was literally way older than he while she was still a minor. It was too wrong, and she was so glad he was dead - even if her 'final moments' were about to come to a close.
Jay admired how she could come up with a plan right up on the spot, and it basically always worked. He loved how she would do anything for the team so they were safe. Why she sacrificed herself to get captured instead of Jay was a mystery, but he would be forever grateful.
Jay loved so much about the female, and he just couldn't stop the tears rolling down his face. He had tried to hold them back for a while now, and he couldn't stand it any longer. He bit his lip trying to hide the hiccuping mess he had become in a matter of minutes - but nothing worked.
Nya's smile curved into a frown once she saw her cute little Jay crying over her. She could go on about him for days - like she did to her brother. He had been the one that knew the two liked each other since they reunited when Zane came back. Nya was actually going to confess to him before Lloyd's possession - but nope! She had to become the water ninja and save the world from all of it turning into a ghost.
And then being hated on from being called too fat, too skinny, ugly, she 'never ate' then as soon as she posted a video of her eating strawberries, she was told she's eat a lot.
Then other stupid insults, slurs, etc etc. The one that drove her over the edge were the ones she got commonly:
'Go f*cking , Jay didn't deserve you, no one does! You're a horrible b*tch!'
It was things like that which made her bottle up her feelings in front of everyone else, and make sure it wasn't obvious she still loved Jay. She didn't want to hurt him again, like she did during the Evil Nindroid wars back then. If she could take it all back she would.
"I-I, uh..wanted to a-apologise.." She stammered out, a regretful frown on her face. Jay looks her confused, with more tears in his puffy eyes.
"F-For being so horrible. Y-You didn't deserve that.." Her eyes become droopy with each shaky and uneven breath, and she can't see her friends faces. Only the blurred colours of their suits that they're all extremely bold about. It had always been a funny little competition they did to see which colour would be best in battle; and of course, Cole and Zane basically always won - considering their colours were quite easy to blend in with the shadows. Compared to Lloyd, who's quite noticeable. That is if he can decided which suit to wear.
With a final shaky breath, her hands had dropped and her body went limp.
Remembering that he couldn't touch her body, Jay put a hand over his mouth and shut his eyes tight, and tried not to scream.
The love of his life, the one that had made him happy, the girl that he loved so much, had just 'died' in front of his very eyes.
His eyes that have seen enough terror in the past few weeks.
His heart was no longer one, and would never be one again. It was ripping at it like claws on fabric do. His normally cute freckles had been drowned out by his red and wet face that seamlessly wouldn't dry up anytime soon.
He felt a soft hand in his back and piercing green eyes stare softly and sadly into his own baby blues. Eyebrows creased, Lloyd rubbed his back gently, trying to calm Jay from his previous panic attack and now hiccuping sobs that were attempting to be silenced by his gloved hand.
Lloyd's head went down, eyes now averting to the floor as he closed them slowly, afraid that he was hurting Jay. His best friend is gone, and he was hurt. He sighed shakily and felt a slight rumble from underneath them.
Yes, the island was crumbling, but did anyone really care?
Not at this moment, no.
Of course they wouldn't. They've just watched their strongest teammate get hit by a venom that had no cure. It was quite clear that they weren't getting up anytime soon, only until Sensei and Misako find out.
Zane's eyebrows creased, and he swallowed a lump in his throat. Yeah he was the only one that could carry Nya out of this place, but if the venom got in his systems, it would mess him up, and cause him to be out for days. And he doesn't think Jay or anyone else is going to necessarily want to do anything else for a while, and he doesn't blame them. Neither does he.
Zane is the other side of Jay, so he placed a hand on his right shoulder and grieves silently while Lloyd hushes him softly, attempting to calm him down.
Cole turns to Kai immediately after her final breath, and watches his face change. Tears fill his dark chocolate eyes to the brim and his body begins to shiver. Cole's expression softens at his slightly smaller boyfriend and he wraps his arms around his torso and placed him on his lap.
Nothing happened. His worries rose.
Kai felt his heart shatter into a million tiny pieces as his little sister - someone who had been told all of her life to bottle up her emotions and never show pain as it would make her 'weak' - has just fell limp in front of his eyes. She fell limp not being able to express her full emotions about the cruel world they lived in.
Someone who had lost so much at a young age, had lost her own in front of 5 people she had loved with her whole heart and could make her smile in a few words.
He looked over at Jay. The lightning ninja was wiping his constantly wet eyes as Zane and Lloyd silently sad beside him with tears in their own eyes. They looked just as hurt as everyone else did.
Cole, Lloyd and Zane thought of her as a sister that they never got to have. After all, him and Nya were the only ones of the team who had siblings.
Sharp and quick steps had made the give heads turn to look at the setting sun. Two dark shadows became bigger and bigger until the team realised that it was their master and Misako. The woman gasped and took a few steps back, tears glistening in her own eyes. She thought as Nya as her own daughter, as the water ninja could vent to her about anything to do with her parents. And because they were quite iconic together.
"I..Sense that Nya has..?" Sensei Wu had a sad tone in his soft voice, stopping in his tracks.
The nindroid nodded dejectedly, and watched at the two standing people's eyes close. "I am sorry to say this.but we have to leave. This place is crumbling fast." The sensei said.
Jay looked down at the beautiful teen on the ground and whimpered. He didn't want to leave her - never. But if he wanted to keep the rest of the team, he had to go. No matter how much it would hurt him, beat his heart and shatter it.
"I love you," He choked out lowly. "I love you so, so much. I-I'm sorry." His buckling legs tried to stand up, but he was having troubles. Lloyd rested a arm around him for support - just like what Kai did after Morro possessed him.
The two slowly made their way to edge of the island and they turned back to look at the other three teammates.
Cole rubbed Kai's arm gently. The fire elemental looked..out of it. His eyes were still pooled with tears and he wasn't looked at the earth ninja, but blankly staring at the grounds "Kai, we have to go. Say goodbye to Nya." He sighed. "I'll be right here." He said softly.
Kai shook his head and bit his lip, before eyeing his sister. "I-I am so, so sorry I wasn't there, little sis. I love you, g-g-good-" He couldn't finish, and he sunk into Cole's embrace. He still wouldn't let any tears fall, no matter how broken he was. It was beginning worrying the ghost.
"Shh.." He hushed. Cole picked him up and supported him on the way home.
~~~
The door to the bounty clicked and creaked open, with Zane slowly opening it. It was like he was afraid it was going to break under his titanium touch.
The place hadn't been touched for weeks. It was dusty, and dull. Dull and dark. And no one liked it at all. The slight moonlight glistened onto the untouched TV, and bounced onto other objects in the room. Jay let go of Lloyd and wiped his eyes.
He was exhausted, if that.
Dark bags were under his red and puffy eyes, a cut was under his cheek that had dried blood surrounding it and it travelled all of the way to his mid-neck.
His normally fluffy brown hair was rugged and messy, and some stocked down onto his forehead from sweat.
Not that it was anything compared to his emotions right now.
"So..what now..?" Lloyd says, trying to clear the depressing atmosphere for at least few minutes. Misako lowered her head as Wu looked up. "You shall all go to sleep. Training will be cancelled for a while. Stay safe, students." He explained.
Lloyd nodded and his mother gave him a quick hug before she headed off with his uncle down the dark, dim hallways. He nodded again slightly and turned his attention back to the other four.
Jay was still crying, tears dripping down his face onto his ripped suit, making the blue even darker than usual as he tried to calm his hiccuping sobs. Zane stood beside him, having not said a word since he summoned his dragon. His glowing blue eyes were glistened over in sadness, and he stood beside Jay.
Cole held Kai's hand tightly and kept checking up on him. Of course, he was deeply saddened, but he couldn't cry. Not in front of his boyfriend who looked like he was trying not to scream and cry and rip his hair out. He was visibly shivering and shaking, constantly looking down ever since he said his final goodbyes to his beloved baby sister.
"I-I'm going t-to ta-take a shower. I-I won't be l-long." Jay stuttered out, shutting his eyes tightly and opening them again as he shakily made his way to their shared room and bathroom.
Zane and Lloyd shared quick worried glances and nodded, before turning their attention to the couple. "Come into the bedroom when you are ready, we'll be right here if you need anything." Zane said, before the blonde and him walked away. Cole waved at the duo as they became smaller and smaller blurs, sharing a sad soft smile.
He looked at his spiky haired partner and his face softened. "Come on baby, let's go into the bedroom. It's been a long day for everyone, especially you and Jay." He says, kissing his now pale cheek.
A shaky nod and more tears blurred Kai's vision. They were building up and up, and he doesn't know how much longer he can hold them down. He just wants to cry and scream in Cole's arms, begging that it was all a dream. He just wants his baby sister back - and she hadn't even been gone an hour. His bottom lip trembled, leaving the fire ninja to almost stumble to the bedroom.
The black haired male picked him up bridal style and opened the door with his foot - considering his hands were full. They both heard a faint continuous trickle of water in the background begin, so they assumed that Jay had just started to shower.
Lloyd was changing into a grey hoodie, while he muttered something to Zane - who was sitting on his bed staring at the locked bathroom door, worried. He nodded and they walked up to the couple.
~~~
Jay swallowed down a mouthful of bile and stepped into the shower, feeling the first warm droplets of water hit his back.
It stung, but felt good. The brown blood that had been dried since early evening was beginning to fade into the drain, dying the normal crystal clear water into a gross brown before being sucked down into the pipes below the ship.
The warm connection on his back that travelled to the rest of his trembling body made him relaxing a little, but he still felt broken.
The feeling felt like Nya's embrace, and her powers-
No.
No.
No.
You just stopped crying.
Don't cry.
Don't cry.
Don't cry.
You're warm hugs..
That beautiful smile you were so conscious about.
I love you.
I miss you.
Before Jay knew it, the salty tears that he had gotten used to in the past few hours had came trickling done his face again, mixing with the clean shower water.
He sunk down in the floor, sobbing. He really hopes that none of the guys can hear him right now.
"How am I going to live my life day by day knowing it was my fault?!" He said, almost screaming into his soft hands. Guilt washed over it the hardest. It was like a truck constantly hitting at him, and he can't control that. No matter how much people said it wasn't his fault.
"I-I didn't see her i-in time, I-I could've saved h-her.."
Too many thoughts swarmed his anxiety addled head, and it was becoming worse and worse by the minute.
"I just.."
He sighed.
"I want you back."
He turned the shower off and let out a shaky exhale, before drying himself. Trembling, he looked in the mirror after getting dressed into something more comfortable.
Of course, those red tear stains were still under his eyes, and they'd be there for a long time. His hoarse voice had made it very clear he had just cried too. Those baby blue eyes that have seen a lot throughout his life had turned dull and red, with the eyelids become droopier by the second.
He looks down at his arm as sees a big cut on there. It had been cleaned, but not bandaged. Sighing, Jay opens the cabinet and searches through to find the gauze. There is only a little left, so he'll have to be careful.
Even though the wound was cleaned, he still winced as it made contact with the red scar. The rest of the wounds on his body were already bandaged up from the Lighthouse, were Nya had helped him from the Scrap n' Tap. There were a few bruises here and there, but other than that it was mostly the emotional scars that got him.
'Just the thought of Nya being forced to marry him..'
'He never loved Delara, he used her for infinite wishes like she's going to do to Nya!'
He growled in anger. He's glad that horrible man is dead, but he's overtaken by sadness and exhaustion as he thinks of Nya once more.
Exiting the bathroom, he sees Lloyd's already asleep on his bed, the covers basically covering his whole body as he lightly snored. Granted, he still looked upset and sad during his sleep, and it was a light sleep, he was at least getting some.
Zane was sat on Cole's bed with the couple, Worriedly looking at the ghost as he tried to talk to his partner, Kai. He was still shivering, tears were still building up in his eyes from almost 2 hours ago, and he looks absolutely heartbroken.
Jay feels bad.
Zane notices that the freckled boy has cane out of the bathroom with new bandaging on and gives Cole a look before stepping off his bed.
"I know that this is a highly illogical question to ask, but, are your wounds doing okay?" Zane asks, a sad tint in his artificial light blue eyes. Jay looks down at said wounds and nods slightly enough for the nindroid to see, then looks him right in the eyes. "I suggest that you get some sleep. You haven't had merely enough for the past few days. Rest well." He says.
The two head to bed and lie down, letting sleep over take them for the first time in a while.
Cole glances at the three sleeping teammates and looks back at the fire ninja, gripping his hand tightly and kissing it. "Do you wanna stay with me tonight?" He asks softly.
There's no response, the only thing that Cole gets is dragged out of the room by Kai and down a few doors.
'Oh crap. I know where he's going to go..'
He was right.
Nya's room.
Kai goes to raise his hand to knock the door, but whimpers and quickly retracts after he realises, that;
she's not here anymore.
His already hurt heart shatters..
..again.
leaving him to pick up the broken pieces..
..again.
He wants to scream.
He wants to cry.
He wants to beg and plead for her back.
He wants to know why fate is taking away everyone he's ever loved.
He just wants her back.
He wants to embarrass his little sister in front of the others, showing picture of her as a baby and when she was younger.
He wants to hug her when she gets scared, or upset.
Is that the littlest thing he could ask for right now?
Just a hug..?
The brunette snaps out his thoughts and bites his lip, his shaking hand trying to reach the door knob.
But no matter how much he tried, he just couldn't.
He breaks down in loud sobs and screams, falling down onto the cold floor before Cole catches him. Every emotion that he had been bottling up for the last 2 hours had come right back at him, like an anvil at the head, falling full pelt at him, and there was no escape.
No escape from eventually breaking down.
Cole picked him up and laid him in his lap, trying to sooth the teen. He knew that it wasn't going to work, as he hadn't been honest with his feelings at the start, so it had kept bottling up, nagging at him to let loose. He kept them inside at the tears builded up and up until he could take it anymore, and right before he was going to enter, it had made him crack.
God, did Cole feel incredibly bad.
Kai's heartbreaking sobbing broke him back into reality, and he rubbed his back gently while letting the other grip his shirt and cry and scream into it. Luckily, the tears didn't effect him, as it's artificial and salt water that hurts, so to say.
"Shh, I know Kai, I know." He whispered to him. It felt like Kai had lost his sanity, just seeing people who he loves, one by one being taken. First his parents, then his home, now his little sister. He begged and prayed that they wouldn't take Cole away. He doesn't even want to think about that, never.
The shorter was hiccuping, trying to take deep breathes like Zane and Nya had instructed Jay to do when he was having a panic attack. But just the mention of his sisters name in his head brought so many memories of the siblings together, ever since their parents passed when Nya was three.
Three years old.
Three.
That's too young.
He was five years old.
Five.
Again, too young.
But hey, I guess fate hates him.
And just the thought that he won't be able to make those memories again brings him back to reality; where this isn't a dream and she's not here, made his crying worsen and worsen. His breathing was irregular and speeding up with every cry of emotional pain.
Cole was starting become really worried. Kai was almost struggling to breath underneath his crying, and the black haired ninja had to do something fast.
He pulled away from the hug and grabbed the brown haired ninja's wrists, holding them in place and he made eye contact with him. Mossy green eyes met tear-filled and pleading dark caramel brown ones, and he began the instructions that were similar to calm someone down from a panic attack.
"Kai, hey, Kai. Listen to me, I'm here, I'm here. Breathe.." He inhaled, showing the mentioned teen what to do.
He obeyed moments after, taking a deep breath in, tears still dripping down onto his own lap.
"And out.."
He finished, letting go of Kai's wrists and hugging him tightly. The salty liquid still travelled down his cheeks, but his breathing had slowed down to a calm extent. His heart was still shattered, leaving the brunette trying not to break down and scream again.
He responded to the hug, wrapping arms around his upper torso as if the ghost was a soft little teddy bear that he would cling to if he was scared-
Oh.
Kai was scared.
He was scared of what he'd have to do tomorrow, the day after, the day after, and so on so forth.
He was scared of having the public know about her demise.
He was scared he was going to get blamed.
"I'm here Kai, I'm here. Nothing his going to hurt you, nor blame you, nor make fun of you. Nothing is going to hurt anyone else. You're safe here, with me. I'm not going anywhere, never. Okay?" Black gave a small soft and quick little speech to his partner, leaving red to nod shakily, whimpering like a puppy. It melted but also shattered Cole's heart. It was cute, but heartbreaking to see someone he loved so much going through so much emotional pain.
Kai sniffed. "Uh-Huh.." He nodded. Cole smiled sadly and stood up; carrying Kai as they made their way back to their shared bedroom.
Lloyd, Zane and Jay must've heard Kai's screams and woke up, and now they were worriedly looking at the couple. Cole looked down and placed Kai on his bed, laying him down and looking at Zane.
Jay pulled the covers over his chin slightly and shut his eyes, truly thinking it was his fault that everyone is like this.
He fell back asleep with thoughts of Nya swarming him.
Zane and Lloyd eventually fell back asleep too, leaving Cole going through Kai's draws trying to find him something to wear. He pulled out a orange hoodie that the brunette had and put his own black top on, before giving Kai his piece of clothing.
Kai did the same thing he did in the hallway a mere 10 minutes ago, hugging his boyfriends' upper torso tightly. It felt nice and warm, considering Cole didn't really feel anything. He raised and eyebrow and lifted the darker skinned boys chin up to look at him in the eyes. "Are you scared?" He asks.
The spiky haired brunette whimpers and nods, slightly loosening his grip on Cole, afraid he was hurting him. The black haired male smiled reassuringly. "Hey, tighten your grip as much as you need if you're scared, I'm right here. Nothing is going to try and hurt or blame you. And plus, I'm a ghost, how am I going to feel the pain of your strong arms?" That may have seemed like a joke, but oh god it wasn't. His hugs were extremely tight if he was scared or hadn't seen someone in a long time, or was worried about them, etc etc. Cole got that information from Nya.
How much Cole missed her too. They were basically brother and sister - just like how Lloyd and Zane saw her. The laughed over dumb stuff if it was late and night and they hadn't slept in ages; and they both gave the best hugs ever.
So, he can't say that he isn't heartbroken either about her death, well, because, he is.
He looks down to see Kai's tear stained face relaxed for the first time in a while, and his eyes closed. His breathing was fine, which was relief to Cole. He wrapped his arms around Kai and fell asleep himself.
~~~
'No! don't take her away!'
'She doesn't want to marry you!'
'Hey! Don't touch her like that!'
'Get off my sister!'
'Get the hell out of Ninjago!'
BANG!
The bullet burned through her clothes, a small sizzling sound as she fell.
Blood dripped down onto the cold floor, her chest heaving and the thick red liquid spluttering onto her dress as she violently coughed, her white teeth stained with vermillion.
'If I can't have her hand in marriage,'
'..Then your can't have your precious little girl.'
Panting, Jay sat up, gripping the bed sheets and his plushie as tight as possible, afraid that he woke everyone else up. Looking around, he sees everyone else is in a somewhat light sleep, sad expressions on their faces from the event that took place a few hours prior.
He shuts his eyes tightly and opens them again, adjusting them to the pitch black lighting to see the bathroom door open. Sitting up, he gulped a lump down his throat and shakily took the thicket duvet off of him. He shivered, and held Mr Cuddlywomp with his left hand tightly. He made his way out of the soft sheets and his bare feet padded onto the chilly wooden floor, begging for it not to creak underneath his quiet steps.
The brunette turns his head to look at the alarm clock that illuminated the dull room in red. 3:27AM. He sighs and enters the bathroom, flicking the switch on and winces at the sound it made, hoping it didn't wake up anyone. He pokes his head back through the to the bedroom and Lloyd mutters something in his sleep, and Kai tightens his grip on Cole.
Looking into his mirror, he sees the paleness on his face. Worried, he walks further and touches his paler hands onto the glass, a horrified look on his face. It was like he'd never seen his reflection before. He looked horrified. Hot liquid built in his eyes again and he gulped, taking a step back and almost falling onto the cold tiles grown beneath him.
"What..what have I done..?"
"What the hell have I done?!"
A squeak escaped his lips and he put his hand over his mouth, hoping he didn't wake up anyone.
"Jay..?"
He turned his head around to see Lloyd. His hands were on the doorway and he had more than a worried look on his face. The brunette could see Lloyd's own tears building up in his emerald eyes and he sniffled. "Jay.." He said again, walking towards the lightning master. The freckled boy shakes his head and backs away slightly. He drops his plushie on the floor, his shaky and sweaty hands not letting him grip him any more. (I just realised all of the Ninja act like scared likkle kids and it's so cute )
"N-No..I don't want to hurt you.." He whispered. Lloyd stops and stares at the teen right in the eyes. "Jay, you're not going to kill me. I'm simply here to just to help, you need it. Okay?" He nodded his head for confirmation and picked up Mr Cuddlywomp, and held him out to his owner, who took him back and hesitates to walk over to the blonde with green eyes.
Jay nods in reply, and Lloyd grabs his wrist and guides the boy back to his bed. Zane is still asleep, as well is Kai, and Cole is lying down with the smaller brunette in his grasp, looking worriedly at Jay. He puts a thumb up to check if he's doing better and Jay put his hand in the middle and wobbles it up and down slightly, to which the black haired male shook his head and smiled genuinely. He kissed Kai's hair and fell asleep himself, a light snore erupting from his mouth.
Jay smiled back sadly and went back into his bed, saying a soft good night to the green ninja, before covering himself in the covers and falling into a normal dream again.
~~~
"Hey, uh, boss?"
"Yes?"
"There's the girl here - and she's alive."
"WHAT?! Don't tell a soul and take her to the hospital immediately."
~~~
Knock Knock.
Rubbing his eyes, Lloyd sat up and looked at the door, wondering what Sensei and Misako want. He hoped it wasn't training - although they said they postponed it for a while.
He turned his head to alarm clock beside his and Zane's bed; noticing that it was 9:34AM. They slept through it. Something that they'd never do, not even Cole. The blonde ruffled his blonde locks out of his face and saw that mostly everyone else was beginning to wake up themselves.
He got out bed and quietly made his way to the door - as Jay was the only one still asleep considering the night prior. The green eyed ninja opened it and saw two concerned faces of his mother and uncle, who looked like they have just woken up themselves.
"Morning you two." Lloyd said, a soft tint in his raspy voice. They smiled sadly and looked down. Something was on their minds and Lloyd was beginning to get a little concerned - sensei never acted like this, neither did his mother.
"Are you two okay?" He asks, raising a worried eyebrow at the duo. They simply ignore the question and Misako finally speaks up. He grabs her sons wrist and takes him outside, shutting the door behind him to leave a confused green ninja.
"We are doing..fine, Lloyd. We was going to ask this question a few hours ago but we didn't want to disturb you guys so.." Misako trailed off at the end of it, her eyes averting to the wooden floor. Lloyd knew exactly what she was talking about. Well, the second one he knew, the first one had been merely filled in by the muffled voice of Cole before he fell asleep.
"Oh, yes. Well, uh, we think Jay probably had a nightmare." Lloyd swallowed. He didn't want the others to hear him for some reason. He was afraid he was invading their mental health privacy but he needed to tell someone about it. "He got..like really scared and wouldn't let me go near him..like he was gonna kill me." Tears builded up in his eyes, and he rubbed them, trying it get rid of his blurred vision. "He blames himself for not seeing Nya in time."
Sensei Wu sighs and turns his head down. "What about Kai? We heard something around 12 hours ago now - like..screaming (?)" It sounded like a question - but Lloyd knew almost exactly what he was on about. He mouthed a 'oh' and nodded gently, rubbing his left arm.
"I think he was going to go into Nya's room, but he couldn't take it anymore and broke down." The light-blonde haired male exhaled shakily, blinking the burning tears. "It scared me, I-I mean I've never s-seen Kai like th-that it just makes it a-all feel so much more r-real-" He came to an abrupt stop when Misako placed a soft hand on her sons' shoulder. He took a few deep breathes in and blinked a few times again, before opening them.
He gulped. "It just makes it feel so much more real that she's gone, you know? And that's no where near a good thing it's exactly the opposite-" Lloyd was rambling again, and he felt a soft pressure on his shoulder, and turned to see his mother had squeezed it.
"Lloyd, calm down. Breathe, okay?" She said, her sympathy slinking through her voice. "We'll be making breakfast - so come in the kitchen if you need anything." She smiled softly. Lloyd, visibly panting from rambling, nodded and waved them off. He took a few deep breathes, before heading back into the shared bedroom.
Zane was shaking Jay awake, Cole was already dressed while he tried to get Kai into something. The robot walked up to him. "Are you okay? What was up with Misako and Wu?" He asked, watching Jay from the corner of his eye worriedly.
Lloyd sighed. "Yeah, they just wanted to know what was going on last night, you know, with-?" Zane cut him off with a slow nod. "I know, it's fine." He said.
"Well, I'll see ya at breakfast. See you in a few." The taller said, ruffling the blondes hair. Lloyd nodded, his face fixated on the floor as he made his way to his set of draws, pulling out a green jacket and a white shirt.
Jay walked up to him, an exhausted and saddened look on his face. "Did you tell Sensei?" He asked, almost like a beg. Lloyd scratched the back on his neck, panic rising. What if Jay didn't want him to tell them? Was he gonna be in trouble?
"Uh-" He pauses and takes a deep breath. "Yeah, I was really worried about you. Is that okay?" Lloyd said, rubbing his arm and not making eye contact with Jay. He could hear the ninja sigh, and then fiddle with his hands.
"Although I didn't want you to, I think it's for the best. Thanks, Lloyd." He responded, a small smile flashing across his tear stained face. The green ninja nodded, and walked out with the freckled boy.
"Kai, you have to get up." Cole said, rubbing his arm gently. The mentioned ninja shook his head as more tears well up in his tired eyes, and he slumps back down onto the bed, curling up into a ball and covering his body with a thin blanket.
The earth master knew that Kai would take this the hardest, considering that they were really close; and his only known blood relative left. He knew that he'd have to be here for him as much as possible. If he started crying he'd go up and hug him, if he was scared he'd sing softly to him, if he was broken, he'd help him pick up the broken pieces.
"I know Kai, I know it's hard. But you need to eat something, I'm not having you starving yourself." Cole responses, pulling the covers off the fire elementals' body as holding his hands gently. The brunette sat up and nodded ever so slightly, still not making eye contact with his boyfriend, afraid he'll break down again.
"Come on, you don't have to get changed, but you have to come to breakfast. It'll be okay, I'll be right here." The black haired ninja added on. Again, a slight shaky nod was the form of agreement. Cole got off and held a hand out to the other teen on the beg, and he clutched it tightly, pulling himself off as his covered feet made contact with the wooden floor.
"Cole?" Kai called putting, his voice shaking and quiet. The mentioned teen turned around fully to eye Kai, worried if he said something wrong, or he accidentally said something that he wanted to forget-
"Thank you." A tight hug muffled the response of it. Startled, Cole stumbles back but eventually wraps his arms around the shorter. "I love you." He finished, a few tears falling down his face that he quickly wiped away.
Cole pulled away from the hugged and smiled at Kai gently, holding both of his hands and kissing them softly. "I love you too. Now, do you want some breakfast?"
2 weeks.
It had been 2 weeks since she had supposedly passed.
2 weeks of nothing but mourning, hugging and crying.
After a few days Sensei Wu has suggested that the remaining five ninja sort through he room, with things to keep.
It didn't go as well as planned. Halfway through Kai had started breaking down again, so he had to pause and carry on the next day, and Jay wasn't really any better. He had just been asleep almost the whole time, trying his best to get rid of those awful memories that he had seen. So, it had been extremely hard for him too.
After about a week the news figured out that she was officially home, and told the rest of Ninjago. It was on for the whole day, and no one could even look at the TV without feeling a rush of sadness overcome them for a long time.
But they didn't care, they just wanted Nya back.
~~~
Darkness.
Darkness everywhere.
Where the heck..?
Where was she?
Was this the afterlife?
Huh, seems pretty boring if she's honest.
Can she go back?
Where are the others?
Are they okay?
"Huh?!" She jolted up.
"Hey, sweetheart, calm down." A soft voice said from beside her. She turned her head slowly and saw a woman in blue clothing and gloves sitting next to her. Nya exhaled shakily And her eyes darted over the place. The place is basically filled in with white. A few secondary colours spotted in some places. A few beeps made it clear that she was in a hospital bed, and she was alive.
"How..How am I alive..?" She breathed out, looking at her shaking hands and pinching her soft arms to make sure this wasn't a dream in the afterlife. She used those hands and rubbed her tired eyes weakly, before flopping back down on the bed in a long sigh. "I'm so tired.."
The nurse laughed slightly. "Well, it's a bit unexpected since you've been in surgery for a few days and in coma for about a week and half."
"What?!"
"Yeah," She started. "You were found on the island when it was near to falling down on Ninjago, and there still was a irregular and quiet heartbeat. The people jumped down the island and gave you to us. We took you in a makeshift hospital for a few hours, since our one has been destroyed, and then we transferred you to one on the outskirts of Ninjago." Nya looked down at the iv drip she had on and the other wires she had on her. "Can you tell me about the surgery?" She asked. The nurse nodded.
"When we got to the actual hospital, we began surgery on you straight away, blocking the venom from getting in your heart. That took about 9 hours. Then, we had to stitch you back up. You currently have three stitchings that will be taken off in about a month, and a scar from the venom itself." She explained. The water ninja nodded slightly and then raised an eyebrow. "But wait, where are my brother and my friends? Where's Jay?" She asked, turning her head side to side as she bolted up.
"We didn't know if you was you, or someone that looked like you. So, we took you in and didn't tell anyone. We will not tell anyone until you want us to." She smiled. Nya smiles back gently.
"Now, go to sleep, in a few hours we're gonna get you walking again so by 3 days you can leave and get some fresh air."
And just like that, 3 days passed. Nya has been given a new set of clothes and the keys to an apartment to go stay into before she tackles the big reveal to them.
But, where exactly where they?
The Water Ninja knew that they have never really wanted, nor enjoyed living in or even close to the city, so she'd have to try and find then in the city itself - if they even wanted to go. The centre of Ninjago was currently still under rebuilds, so it was practically trespassing if you went even close to it, so there's no proper landmarks to go to except for the flowe garden next to Zane's Memorial.
But again, how the hell is she supposed to get them to come?
~~~
Sensei opened the door to a glum looking Misako, and she looked like she was hiding something.
"Misako, what's wrong?" He asked, grabbing her wrists and pulled her into his room, closing and locking the door behind her. "It's nothing, J was just wondering.."
"About what?"
She sighed. "Maybe a little ceremony for her..? I don't just want to forget about her, and I'm sure the guys don't." She suggested, looking outside the room and seeing Zane and Lloyd walking down the hallway, muttering something inaudible to the two in the room. However they could tell they looked worried. What happened? Did someone hurt themselves? They hoped not.
Wu smiles sadly at her. "That is a great idea Misako. We shall inform them about this at lunch, and we can start planning tomorrow." He confirmed. She nodded and sighed, exiting the room and seeing the two same elemental masters stand by the bedroom door. They looked even more concerned that before, and Lloyd crosses his arm in uneasiness. Zane was constantly knocking on the door, and still not getting a response from anyone who was supposedly in there.
"Lloyd? Zane? What's going on?" They both asked, eyeing the other two directly with their own apprehension beginning to rise. "Where are Jay, Kai and Cole?"
Zane sighed. "We were going done into the living room when Jay started to have a breakdown. He just starting crying and we were not properly sure what the cause of this problem was." His robotic voice became softer with each word he spoke, and Lloyd exhales himself and nodded. "Then, Kai ran off, presumably because he was about to have one himself, and we've checked every room, but he's no where to be seen." The blonde finished off, as Zane began knocking again and calling his name. Again, no response.
"I'lol get the spare keys - unlock it and call out his name again, if he doesn't answer just walk in." Misako said, rushing off to find the spare keys to get into any locked room if there was a dangerous situation occurring.
Zane knocked again. "Kai? Kai this is serious. Answer us now or we're getting the keys."
Again, just silence.
"We had to kick down the medical bay door, for some reason it was lodged shut but it was unlocked." Lloyd said. Zane nodded from the occurrence that happened minutes ago when the elders were talking about ceremony's for the girl. Wu nodded solemnly and kept quiet while the woman came back with keys.
Lloyd immediately shoved them into the keyhole, twisting it so it was unlocked. He called out Kai's name one last time. Nothing.
He almost kicked down the door as it practically swung off the hinges, almost smacking the desk next to it.
"Kai?!"
Again, no answer.
"Zane. Get the bathroom keys." Lloyd chokes out, seeing that Kai's bed was nearly made - and everyone else's was too. Nothing. No trace of Kai at all in this room, and he highly doubts he'll be in the bathroom too, but they have to check everywhere.
Zane nodded and sped out of the room, running frantically to the keys draw again, and searching for their bathroom door keys to open the door. Lloyd breathes in and out shakily and quickly, worry rising to amounts he's never experienced before for his friend. He hoped to god he hasn't done anything in this bathroom, and if he had, Jesus knows how they'd react: let alone Cole.
"Lloyd, calm yourself. Panicking isn't going to help anything." The sound of his uncle said behind him, and a hand was on top of his shoulder. He looked at Sensei in the eye and swallowed the lump down his throat as he sucked in a breath. In, and out.
Zane rushed in, the keys jingling with his fast steps as he sped to the bathroom door.
Again, no one was there.
~~~
"I know buddy, I know." Cole repeated, rubbing Jay's back as he lay on the sofa with a thin soft blanket on his shivering body. Tear stains were on his freckled face, the red tint making them look none existent as his mouth breathed in and out shakily. He blinked profusely, trying to burn away the salty liquid coating over his soft - and now red and puffy - baby blue eyes.
"I'm-I'm sorry Cole." Jay choked out, his voice soft and hoarse as he apologised to his best friend. He shut his eyes tight again and held his body closer to the blanket, curling up into a mini ball. He sniffled and suppressed another sob, as he tried to relax.
Mentioned male shook his head in disagreement and said no quietly. "Jay, it's okay. Just relax buddy, you're mentally drained right now." He replied, his voice soft and lowered form the still depressing atmosphere of The Bounty after two weeks. Even Sensei and Misako haven't flashed a proper smile yet, or said something like; "We must not dwell on the past." Hell, they looked genuinely upset! Sensei has never really showed signs of sadness, except for Zane's and Garmadon's sacrifice. Not that they knew of anyway.
"COLE! KAI'S MISSING!"
Cole's colour drained form his translucent face and she bolted upright, not believing the information that had just been yelled at him from the other side of The Bounty - preferably their shared room. Worry corrupted him like being thrown into water. And that's two things he's afraid of - Kai going missing, (especially like this) and water.
The second one didn't matter at the moment, he'd jump in water for Kai. And walk through fire - if he was a human.
He looked at Jay worriedly. The boys eyes were droopy, but he had a determined and worried look on his red and damp face. He nodded. "Go get him." He said. Cole nodded and rushed out, looking at Jay one last time who had a weak smile on his face. "Thanks."
Cole flashed a smile back and grabbed a pocket knife, some bandages, a blanket, some water and her bracelet. He gave it Cole and ran off before going missing a few minutes after. He stuffed them all into any spare pockets in his clothing he had, and swooped his phone off the desk and sped out of the door.
He unlocked his phone and went straight to contacts scrolling down to finds Kai's and frantically tried to call.
"Hey, whaddya want? If it's Zane, no, I haven't seen Jay or Nya, if this is Lloyd, piss off, if this is Jay, no, you can't date Nya, if this is Nya, what's up sis? You good? Anddd, if this is Cole, how ya doing handsome? Hah, let's not get cheesy on voicemail. Just wanted to say I love ya. Alright, bye!"
Great, voicemail.
Cole sighed and called again and again, getting the same answer.
"Hey, whaddya want? If it's Zane, no, I haven't seen Jay or Nya, if this is Lloyd, piss off, if this is Jay, no, you can't date Nya, if this is Nya, what's up sis? You good? Cole's blood boiled with anxiety and he quickly formed his dragon, knowing exactly where his broken boyfriend would be right now. He inhales and exhaled as his dragon became to ascend into the air.
"To The Blacksmith Shop."
The way there took no less that twenty minutes, because you'd be surprised on how fast dragons can get depending on their owners mood. And right now, his dragon was going quite quick as Cole basically had tears in his eyes from worry for his lover.
"Kai, please be okay." He muttered under his breath, for what seemed as the umpteenth time on the trip to the fire ninja. He swallowed a lump in his throat and waited until he could see his boyfriend's hometown in his now blurred-with-tears eyesight. "I don't want to lose you too."
Finally, after what seemed like a while, he could finally see the town that Kai and Nya once lived in. He sped down on his dragon and jumped off, giving the form of transport and let a small pat on the nose as a thank you, before the earth dragon deformed.
He knocked on the door repeatedly, getting no answer for the first few seconds. Worries risen even more, he knocks on it louder and harder.
"Kai?! Kai please answer you're scaring me!" He yelled, practically banging on the door as he almost made his voice hoarse.
Click.
Squeak.
Cole jumped into Kai's arms immediately, slightly picking him up and squeezing him tightly. The other, who was tear stained and visibly tired squeaked in surprise, and then wrapped his arms around the ghost.
"Don't your dare leave without telling me again." Cole mumbled into his shoulder, a shaky tone in his voice telling Kai that he had been worried sick the moment Lloyd had yelled that Kai wasn't anywhere to be seen on The Bounty - or anywhere near it to be honest.
Kai whimpered and squirmed lightly, biting his lip as he tightened his grip on Cole. He then starting breaking down again, like violent, shaking sobs then again caused him to almost collapse on the ground, before he felt a pair of strong soft arms pick him up and place him down on the sofa. Cole then wrapped his arms around the fire elemental again, grabbing a towel and placing it on his shoulder to make sure not too much water soaks onto the ghost, he doesn't want to leave Kai too. God knows heat he'd do, well hell, what anyone else would do.
"I-I m-miss her so-so-" He choked out, sobbing hysterically again as he tried to get his breathing together. "I-I just w-want-want her-"
"Shh, I know Kai, I know. Just let it out sweetie." Cole cut him off with a slight and gentle of rub on his back, trying to sooth his chest from giving up on the poor boy, as it was heaving in loud, short and choking breaths that he tried to compress. He shuffled around to find his lovers' hand and found Cole's fingers, then interlocked them with his own, squeezing the soft, and temporary solid hand as tight as possible.
"Squeeze my hand, and listen to my heartbeat." The Master of Earth ordered, rolling over to laying on the couch and pulling the Master of Fire to his chest and twisting loose strands of his hair, making little spirals with his fingers before letting them loose, bouncing them back to the straight spiky self that had actually been gelled up this morning for the first time in two weeks.
Kai's breathing hitched with each inhale and exhale, but his sobbing was slowly starting to calm down to a slow crying sound. "That's it, you're getting there buddy." Cole praised him, rubbing his scalp gently to gentle his crying to small sniffles eventually.
Soon enough, that fantasy became real, and now Kai was on the verge of exhaustion, collapsing into Cole's chest with obvious pants. "There you are. Feeling better?" Cole asked, pulling the Fire Elemental onto his lap and rubbing his arms. Of course, the answer was a shrug. I mean, yeah he felt better form holing in his tears, but no. Because Nya was still gone. His family was still gone, and there was literally no blood related people to him that he knew of.
That must really suck.
"When you-uh, ran off, you took this off." Cole pulled out the red and golden coloured bracelet and placed it delicately on Kai's hands, the gold glistening in his brown eyes and the red button reflecting the tear stained face of Kai.
"I brought it with me for you. I thought you'd want it.." Cole trailed off when he saw his boyfriendd face become discomforted once more. "Sorry." He grabbed his hand and kissed it gently. "I miss her too."
"C-Cole the c-ceremony is in a-a week and-and a bit- oh no! J-Jay's birthday, he's-he's so heartbroken- I- I don't wanna go!" He almost screams again, putting his hands over his face and falling onto the couch below him. Just the thought of having to go up there and say goodbyes to Nya without actually seeing her body is somewhat heart-stopping to Kai, afraid he might literally make himself sick from crying.
"I know baby, I know." Cole repeated, rubbing a hand on his back as he started crying again. Cole kissed his forehead multiple times, grabbing his hands and interlocked them slightly.
"But you're gonna get through this." He mumbled, fiddling with his boyfriends' hair again. He sighed had grabbed his wrists now. "Do it for me, do it for Nya." He added on, hugging his tightly. "Don't leave."
Kai nodded reluctantly and buried his face in Cole's shoulder, squirming and trying to get comfortable in his lap. He smiled gently and held his hands and squeezed them, hoping for a reply to make sure Kai was physically okay. He was, that was good.
"Go to sleep Kai, I'm gonna be right here." He said, removing one of his hands or play with the brunette's hair slightly as he dozed off into a hopefully peaceful dream of relaxation. The Master is Earth kisses his forehead softly and laid down, his exhausted and still slightly crying boyfriend on top of him. His arms then snakes around his upper torso, squeezing it slightly as Kai squirmed in his light sleep.
"I love you." He said, before quickly pulling out his phone and seeing many text messages from Lloyd, who was definitely worried as he was no getting a call from the blonde. He declined the call and went to text messages, seeing this:
Lloyd: Cole?
Lloyd: Is Kai okay?
Lloyd: Is he hurt??
Lloyd: Are you okay?
Lloyd: Where are you?
Cole: Bro, we're fine. Kai just got a but upset and he's not asleep, so that's why I didn't answer the calls. We'll be back in about an hour.
Cole: How's Jay? How are you Zane, Misako and Sensei?
Lloyd: Jay's asleep, and Misako and Sensei are making lunch. Stay safe Cole.
Cole: trying my best kid
Cole sighed, and put his phone back in his pocket. It's been a long few weeks, the days feeling like years and the weeks feeling like centuries of never ending depressing atmosphere that none of them could get out of even if they tried. It was honestly getting annoying, but they remembered that they've lost a teammate, metaphorical sister, a girlfriend, and an actual sister.
He just simply sighed again and tried to relax himself.
~~~
Three days after Nya had woken up from her coma, she had been learning to walk and eat, grab things and breathe properly without the oxygen mask on her. After her surgery, they took it off for her to breathe. But after waking up the night after her coma was broken, it was placed back on the as the nightmare bought back the pain of that day.
"Okay, you're walking and eating decent enough, you're drinking lots of fluids which is good for you. And you can now breathe without the oxygen mask." The nurse explained, ticking off boxes on the clipboard as Nya stood there in a black hoodie, black leggings and some shoes, smiling and nodding. She was finally being let out! Felt very good indeed.
The nurse then held out some keys to her, and the location of where Nya was going to stay for the time being, until she found her way back to her actual home and greeted her close friends with a smile and a nice hug.
She gave a smile, and then a thank you to all of the nurses that looked after her and kept her alive during the whole thing, and made sure she was completely calm. "Thank you so much for taking care of me. Go and save more lives." She said, waving at the nurse she was talking to, who under his mask had a big smile on his face and a now cheerful mood in his body.
She stepped outside and felt the warm spring air hit her body, like a warm hug. A greeting from being cramped in a hospital room for to long, and 3/4 of it was in a coma! The air was crisp and warm, and it felt more like summer than it did late spring. But Nya wasn't complaining, her favourite season was Autumn after all.
While on her slow walk form the hospital to the apartment she had been signed into, her mind wandered off to the last few hours of being alive. Hell, just the day in general. It wasn't pleasant in the slightest.
But then, she remembers the pleasant people that helped on that day.
Her happiness was now replaced by worry and sadness, realising that she had practically died in front of her brother, who had tried to his best to stay alive for Nya, and she had just left him. She felt horrible, horrible for not dodging the venom. Then, she could be at home, laughing about and being happy, grateful she was saved from that hellhole. Spending time with Kai, laughing about with Lloyd, fixing shit with Zane, watching crappy movies with Cole, and maybe even cuddling with Jay-
Oh.
Jay.
Nya has forgot about how much she missed him. His smile, his laugh, his freckles that spotted all of his cheeks and scrunched up when he exhibited sounds and movements of happiness. His baby blue eyes that twinkle in the sunlight and even moonlight. His soft and fluffy hair, that she could play with and compliment all day if she wanted to.
But it wasn't just his looks, his personality is what made Nya fall head over heels for this goofball softie.
No matter where you are, what time it is, how he's feeling, he'll always go up to someone who looks sad and try to cheer them up, cracking stupid jokes that sometimes made them flash a smile. Even if they weren't funny, he tried, and that was the best part.
And if the funny jokes and remarks didn't work, then he'd go up to the person and pull them into a nice little side hug, and ask if they wanna talk about it. If the person says no, he just lets them cry beside him, letting it all out to feel at least a little better afterwards. Nya loved that about him, and she really didn't like how she treated him at all. She doesn't really deserve his love. After the boundaries thing when they were teachers, she's always felt horrible for saying that. She hurt Jay in ways she may or may not understand one day, and her heart hurts because of it.
And she doesn't want to set boundaries again, but the fourteen year old is scared that he's gonna accidentally touch her in the wrong place and she'll get scared and hurt Jay again. Ugh, this was great Nya. You don't want to set boundaries but you're scared of what happened?
Tear filled eyes, she looked at the note again and hit her lip. The address was right opposite her friends house, and she knew a shortcut to get there. At least she didn't have to hide herself and go through the streets, and she could take a shortcut through to the flower gardens that she loved so much.
Stepping to the zebra crossing lane, she took a deep breath and started walking to the other side of the street, getting closer to the garden of peace. Well, that's what the name is, and Nya agrees with it so..
She stepped in, and immediately a content smile stretched on her face and she sighed in relief, some of her stress going away about home, but just not the people there.
'Hmm, I guess a quick detour to all of the flowers isn't hurting anyone, so..' Nya thought, and then nodded at her brain, and walked down to another quad of flowers and plants. Some were still blooming, even if spring was coming it and end and the hot summer was reaching in to fill up beaches again and take away the chilliness for at least three to four months.
She reached her favourite flowers. Water lilies. Coincidence as Cole literally called her that about a month ago now, when they were building a raft to get safety to get some help for Jay.
The water reflected from the sun, and it looked like you were gonna step into heaven itself if you weren't careful with eyeing the water without complimenting how good it was. It was practically peaceful, can calm someone with a single touch.
"These were her favourites, weren't they?"
Was that..?
Nope.
She refuses to believe it.
"They were, I suggest we should take a few for the ceremony. Not from here but form the florist."
Yep, she has to believe it. Definitely their voices, and it's definitely them. Well, she's just un-coincidently met the two people she kinda needed to meet if she ever wanted to see Jay again, and hug him, and kiss him-
Okay, don't get too carried away. Just quickly say something, that'll get their attention to you. She cleared her throat quietly and looked down at the flowers that were her favourite, and nodded gently. "Yep, they were my favourite."
"I miss her- wait what?"
Misako stopped in the middle of her sentence when she heard my instead of her. And then she turned to Wu, who looked just as confused and shocked as she is. They both met eye contact and then swallowed, never being this nervous in their lives to just turn their heads to see who it was, who confirmed a favourite flower that anyone could have. But, that voice was so familiar.
"Nya..?-"
"One and only." The former water ninja confirmed, talking her hood off to reveal her slightly longer hair that reached her shoulders, and a small soft smile plastered on her face. She waved slightly and waited for the confirmation to reach their minds, and when it did, Misako gripped the girl into a tight squeeze, but pulling then away when Nya winced and wheezed.
"You- how?!" She stammered in disbelief, holding her shoulders and shaking her gently. "How in the- what?!"
Nya giggled and sighed. "Okay, well. It's kinda a longish story, so if you were just heading home I'm sorry."
"Okay, so someone found me up on that island right before it was about to crumble. I was passed out, for definite, but I was still alive. Well, barely.
I was rushed straight to the hospital, well, the makeshift one as the one I was going to be taken to was destroyed, so I was taken to those ones you'd see in the wars - but just better equipment than the 1940s.
I was treated in there for a few hours before I was immediately rushed to another hospital which had a free space for me, and I was undergoing surgery not even 3 minutes of getting there; everything was already set up and everything.
The next thing I knew I woke up about two weeks later; they explained all of this to me, then three days later I'm right here explaining this story to you." Nya explained, a grin on her face as she finished. The other two had small, soft smiles on her faces and Misako pulled her into another soft and gentle hug this time, murmuring something the other two couldn't hear.
"It's good to have you back Nya. I guess we should cancel the ceremony." Wu said.
"What?! Ceremony?" Nya yelled, stunned that someone would've even considered one for the girl. She blinked a few times and rubbed her eyes, trying to wipe the tears away. No one had ever been so nice, well, until now, when they thought she was, y'know, dead.
"Yeah, it was going to happen on the 31st of May-"
"That's Jay's birthday!" Nya called out, more tears blurring her vision, not even wanting to imagine the thought of that happening on his birthday. Like no! He's supposed to have a good birthday, not one where he has to spend talking to the citizens about her and shit.
"Well, now that you are here we decided that maybe you could surprise not just him, but the other four for his birthday?" Misako explained, looking at her brother-in-law who nodded gently. A big grim crept onto Nya's face and she nodded vigorously, happy to be suggested that idea.
"It's settled then. Meet Wednesday 4:00PM." Master Wu confirmed. They both agreed as well, and by them, Nya was going her respective way while the oldest went on theirs.
~~~
"So, Jay.." Cole started. The mentioned boys turned his head up from his bed, and saw that Cole was sitting on the edge of it. The black haired teen fumbled with Jay's bedsheets in his hands. "W-What do you want for you birthday tomorrow?" He asked, a fake smile on his face.
Jay sat up and sighed. "Nya. I want Nya back." He said, tears building up in his eyes as he clutched the pillow tighter in his quivering hands. Cole sighed and nodded, placing a hand on the boy's shoulder and rubbing it gently. "I know buddy, we all do." He mumbled a reply, sighing hakily and slipping off his bed. "I-I'll let you sleep, but if you change your mind, you know where we are." The Earth Ninja then left the bedroom with no other communication with his best friend.
Kai was on the other side of the door. And as soon as Cole opened their shared bedroom door, he jumped into the ghost's arms. Startled, it took Cole a few seconds to come out of his shock and actually hug him back. He did so eventually, and then decided to break the silence.
"What's wrong Kai?" He asks. He knows that the brunette misses his sister too much to be considers healthy, but it seemed something else was bugging the mind of The Fire Ninja. He pulled away and grabbed his shoulders, a worried expression on the niorette's face.
"It's Jay," He starts, almost whispering the first part of his sentence, as if millions of people, or Jay himself, is listening to their (what-Kai-wants) private-ish conversation.
Cole raised an eyebrow, he knew that Kai was deep down a really caring and soft guy, but his sister has just died and he's worrying about other people? Not that it's a bad thing, (quite the opposite, really.) but the elemantal is too caught up on keeping his own tears and emotions in check that he doesn't know wether he can ask if someone's okay without breaking down himself.
"He-He hasn't moved from his bed really. He just- goes to breakfast, lays in bed. Goes to lunch, lays in bed. Goes to dinner, lays in bed. You get it by now. It's just-..not him.." Kai explains.
Zane and Lloyd must've caught onto the abscense of three team members, and had gone to their bedroom to check it out. "He has a little trauma from this months events. Being captured, almost tortued, seeing all of us in the Sword Of Souls, and then..seeing Nya being hit with the venom. It would be a lot to take in, especially with his anxiety." The ninroid explained, his eyebrows creasing midway-through. Cole, Lloyd and Kai nodded solemny, agreeing with The Ice Ninja.
"Tell him that dinners ready - Misako and Wu have gone out. Oh, they've also said the ceremony is switching to next week; there's still a lot left to do." Lloyd informed them. Zane entered, and the other three retreated to dinner.

The walk there wasn't lomg at all, only taing ten minutes on both spectrums of people. The spring air becoming warmer and summer finally started to hit Ninjago. The leaves on the trees beamed with the vibrant colour of green, the water of the early afternoon rain reflectiing rainbows onto the crystal clear water near them, then being covered by the flowers and little pads that swam gracefully on top of the water.
The two meet eyes with the younger, a small smile on her face as she rumaged through her hoodie pocket.
"You got Jay something as well?" Misako asks, both eyebrows raised as the velvet box finally came into view. The two elders looked at each other and then back at the water bender. Her smiled gre more and she nodded, opening the small box carefully.
Indeed, that was a necklace. It shone in the sunlight of the early evening hour, glistening and glimmering in their eyes.
"Don't worry; I wasn't going to propose." Nya giggled, slipping the box back into her pocket and seeing the other two smirk on amusement. "I don't think Kai would be very happy."
"Happy? Kai would be over the moon to see you." Misako remarked, remembering the emotions that have corrupted him for the past month - spoiler alert; they weren't happy. I mean hell everyone was sad.
Nya felt a twinge of guilt and sadness fill her. They were still upset. It hurt her to know they were; but she couldn't do anything about it until tomorrow. She was glad to be going back to actual home today. It had been a it rough at that apartment - and her neighbour certainly did find her as much more than a teenager..and holy crap did that freak her out.
"Y-You think Jay will like it?" She asked, a tint of blush appearing on her face and she started to fiddle with her hair slightly. They smiled and nodded, earning a smile back from the smaller.
"He'll love it. Now, we've got to find a way to get you home without the boys noticing." Sensei said, turning around and leading the other two females the way home - even though one was literally walking with him.
"Did anything changes while I was.." She cleared her throat and held her index fingers and middle fingers up in the air. "'Gone'?" She puts air quotes over it, clearing confused on why the city streets were read only sparse and quiet. He'll some shops still were probably not even considered to be rebuilt - just laying there on the ground, the debris and dust particles fully disappeared and just a pile of cracking bricks and rocks. Oh, yep, and glass. Lots of glass.
Misako and Wu looked at each other uncertainty. Misako nodded her head and walked backwards until she was walking beside Nya, and the elderly man walked in front of them completely silent.
"The News found out a few days after. Now, quite a bit of the population of Ninjago has gone silent and they actually have been respectful of our privacy." She started, and Nya was quite shocked. They never really were bothered about getting looked at in public or asked for a picture, but it then escalated into following them into a kids hospital when they were supposed to be doing a private Make a Wish with children who were definitely younger than the pre-teen girls.
"But if you want to know about the team, I..don't even know what to say." She trailed off. The Water Ninja raised an eyebrow and then looked at her practical mother and her mentor. They had worried and sad looks on their faces.
"They've not being doing well. Kai actually ran off a few days ago."
"What?! Why?!"
They both shrugged.
The rest of the way home was Nya talking about the side effects of having three sets of stitching on her chests, and the venom scar itself. Like an asthma attack, she could get shirt of breathing in the middle of the night when she was as vulnerable as possible; plus nightmares. It takes her breath away and she can hardly see, the bile rushes up to her throat and she can't do anything than to let it takes it's course and just vomit on the bed until she feels better.
"We got the boys out of the house for a little bit, we told them it would be nice if they went to the other park and got some fresh air. Don't worry." Misako smiled. "We have locked your room up, so you'll have to sleep in the spare room."
~~~
It was 11:30 p.m, and everyone was home, even Nya. But she was hiding in the spare bedroom, hoping that no one except Sensei and Misako walked in here.
She sat on her bed for the time being, fiddling with the pencil in her hand as she stared at the blank lined paper. She was supposed to write a cute little message for Jay for his birthday tomorrow, and then surprise him, but she doesn't have a clue what to put!
Hey Jay,
Soooo..happy 16th birthday! I hope you're having a good one!
Now you're probably wondering who in Sensei Wu's name (Sorry Sensei) I am.
Well, I can tell you yet.
First though, check the box by the piece of paper.
Ya done it?
Do you like it?
I thought It'd be nice, y'know, to remember her by.
Anyway, make sure to get some breakfast and have a good day!
From; Wouldn't you like you know *clicks fingers*
She folded up the paper, adding a note on the front. She then grabbed the box, waited for a knock on the door for signal, and sneaked out of the room.
It was quiet, too quiet.
Even when everyone was asleep you could still here something in the background. The washing machine, the TV, shuffling aaround, hell, even snoring! Yeah, that's something that Nya didn't miss at all.
She walked ou to the living room and grabbed a velvet soft pillow off the couch, laced it on the table, and then place the gift and the note on top of the soft piece of fabric. She teared up slighty.
"Shh, it's okay. C-Can you see me?"
"Please don't leave me sis.."
"O-Oh Kai, please don't cry."
"I- uh, wanted to a-apolgise."
Those memories brought back the burning pain her chest at almost full force, clawing at her chest with what you could literally say hot poker stick, and then sprouting to her stomach and head, giving the mentioned body parts unbearable pain for God knows how long.
She stumbled over with what little strength she had left back to her room, shutting it and locking ir as quick as possible as she slumoed down the floor, sliding down the wall. She curled up into a ball and clutched those three mentioned places, trying to massage them with as much energy possible.
Nya rolled onto her back with a groan and huff, eyeing the clock on the wall which now read 12:01 a.m. Woah, time went fast. Maybe she's already been stalling and took at eternity to get back. Well, she though that she was fast so..
Her eyes became droopier with each second, and she couldn't get up. Oh well, let's just go to sleep.
~~~
Beep! Beep! Bee-
"Ugh.." Lloyd groaned, sitting up groggily as he slapped the top of the alarm clock quite harshly. He rubbed his eyes and sighed, falling back down into his bed and giving the boy opposite him a small gentle smile. "Happy birthday Jay." He mumbled, ruffling his hair slightly at the freckled boy sat up waved at him slightly, returning the soft smile. "Thanks." He mumbled.
Sure enough, the other three woke up, said a happy birthday to Jay and started getting ready for whatever he wanted to do. He suggested a few minutes before he they all went to sleep if he could go to the beach. It was her favourite place to go to calm herself when she was having a rough day, and he wanted to visit there. He felt safe there, like she was there too, standing by him. But first; breakfast.
Knock knock!
Jay jumped. Jesus Christ, quiet down will you?! He sighed, noticing he's the first one dressed. He wore what he usually did; a blue jacket with a white top, and blue jeans. It was actually the first time he had gotten changed since..never mind. He hadn't have been able to get out of bed for a few days, so this was actually a big step for him, considering that the actual ceremony for Nya was planned for today. If it was still imagined for today, god knows if Jay would even think of waking up, let alone walking up in that podium and talking about his love of his life.
He sighed and relaxed, walking up to the door and opening it, the creaking sound becoming louder and louder. He needed to get that fixed sooner or later.
Sensei and Misako stood there wit gentle, sad smiles on their faces. The woman gave a small wave. "Happy Birthday, Jay." She said. He nodded and mumbled a thank you. He stepped out and Sensei pulled him aside.
"There's a present for you in the living room. You need to go there first." He ordered his Lightning Ninja Student to do, and then he eyed the other four who were getting changed and talking lowly to themselves and looking worried for Jay, considering he had just been pulled out of the room by their Master.
He nodded, obviously confused, and slowly made his way to said living room. Even the door handle had a dust layer coated on it. It hadn't been touched for what seemed like an eternity.
Soon enough, he knew he hadn't move for a few minutes, but he then heard quiet footsteps behind him.
It was the rest of the team. He knew he couldn't do this alone, os thank God they came when they did, or Sensei would've looked at him with a very concerned and quite frankly worried look on his face.
Again, the hinges squeaked as it slowly opened itself the rest of the way. The place looked almost grey, the meaning fallen out of it as he scanned the room quickly. Nothing seemed to be there, so why had Wu instructed him to go into the room? It just looked really dull and-
Wait, what was that?
Something caught his vision.
He looked down and saw a folded up piece of paper, a black box, and a couch pillow supporting said items. It looked like something you'd find that your partner giving you for Valentine's Day - as that wasn't for another 9 and a bit more months. So, this could only mean that it was his birthday present. A bit strange nonetheless, but hey, it's got his name on it, so he shrugged it off and approached the items.
To Jay :)
(Do Not open the box until I say so!)
Confusion evident on all of their faces, Jay unfolded the paper and began to read.
"Hey Jay,
Soooo..happy 16th birthday! I hope you're having a good one!
Now you're probably wondering who in Sensei Wu's name (Sorry Sensei) I am."
He smiled a little bit.
"Well, I can tell you yet.
First though, check the box by the piece of paper."
Oh, Jay could open it now.
Anticipation rising, he shakily grabbed the velvet covered box and placed two of his fingers on the bottom and the top, then pulled it apart and opened it.
The necklace glimmer in his eyes, and he took it out gently.
At the bottom, there was a little pendant on it which said; 'Even if we can't find heaven, I'm gonna stand by you.'
Wow.
Tears pricked his eyes and he swallowed a massive lump in his throat that wanted to exit through his eyes, leaving a puddle on the floor that wouldn't stop until the whole ship flooded.
Okay, a bit too far. But you know.
"Woah, it's beautiful." Lloyd remarked. Jay nodded and cleared his throat.
"..Ya done it?
Do you like it?
I thought It'd be nice, y'know, to remember her by.
Anyway, make sure to get some breakfast and have a good day!
From; Wouldn't you like you know *clicks fingers*"
Jay exhaled shakily and held the necklace in his hands. Did he even want to put it on? He was too scared that he was gonna break down again. Jesus, he still missed her that much? They weren't even together.
"I-" He started, then realised that his voice cracked. He again cleared his throat and kept his tears in check. "W-We should go to breakfast." They all nodded.
Well, they certainly weren't expecting this.
Was that..Nya's voice?
Nope, they're hearing things.
"Y'know, I really hope Jay likes it."
Omgomgomgomgnyasalive-
She's alive?!
"Don't stress, Nya-"
SHE'S. ALIVE.
Jay cut off whatever Wu was saying and immediately opened the door, seeing that he had startled her.
Yep, that was her.
He then raced over to her and hugged her tightly, slightly picking her up and sobbing into her shoulder hysterically. She giggled.
"Hey, Jay."
"SIS?!"
Kai rushed in and saw that his little sister, who was very much alive, being hugged for dear life by Jay. She lifted a weak hand to wave him, as Jay was almost breaking her bones, and that she was lifted in the air.
Once Jay let go, Kai then picked up Nya himself and spun her around, before doing what Jay did. Yep, Nya's ribcages are absolutely fucked. RIP, I guess.
"How- how did you?!" Kai lost his words.
Nya punched his arm lightly. "Girl power." He then noticed that that reference was from a past conversation he had, and he rolled his eyes. "Yeah, thanks for ruining the moment." He groaned playfully. She simply smirked. (Just realised that Sensei and Misako are just sitting her like; "fckin hell they went insane")
"I for one think that nothing could ruin this moment." Zane butted in, a smile on his face as he approached Nya and hugged her gently this time, careful of her ribs. "It's nice to see you're okay."
Lloyd than tackles her into a hug, his childish side wanting to absolutely eliminate his best friend, but also not kill her. Cause ya know, they though she was dead. "I miss you, you little shit. Don't do that again." He mumbled into her shoulder. She laughed. "Yeah, well if your gonna tackle me to the ground like an apprehension then I can't promise anything greenie."
Cole lifted a hand up to her, a solid hand, and she gratefully took it, before being picked up and hugged by him. Zane is now Nya's favourite. Thanks, Zane.
"Yeah, Greenie." He mocked. "Don't do that to WaterLily."
Nya slapped him across the head. "Piss off." He smirked. He laughed and put her back down, before she ran off to Jay and kissed him deeply. Between his tears he smiled and kissed back, earning a 'gross!' from Kai, and 'awes' from everyone else; even Sensei!
They pulled away, and Nya smiled.
"Happy birthday, Jay."
