Chapter 20: Then comes love
For days, two unlikely friends: Zarc and Ray had been seeing and visiting each other at Parks, Forests, and at their favorite places. As the days go by, so did the seasons and friendship. As their friendship grew they developed even something bigger: true love. They date almost every week, for two days each. Some is dinner, some is strolls, and some were in activities. One time though when Zarc and Ray were at her place while Leo was out on a business trip, they did one thing that is far: Their first time having sex. It was a wonderful night they did. They did slept together the next day and had time together indeed. Then one day we find the couple at the stadium for a tag team battle and Zarc is playfully chases Ray around the lockers room. Zarc thinks I'm suspicion for a minute then pulls out Starve Venom. "Check the area, something isn't right." Zarc ordered. Starve Venom responded with "Rodger" and then he flew out to check. Once they headed out with Ray onto to field, they got their duel disk on. The two have been keeping thier relationship a secret from the general public for safety, but they often tag duel as partners. Zarc mostly wanted to hide it from Leo Akaba himself. Lord knows what he would do if he knew they were together. Ray looked at Zarc as she got her deck ready. "so who are we fighting?" Ray asked, "A monkey?" Zarc chuckled at her guess. "Cute." He complimented, "Says we're up against two guys with Jurassic decks." Zarc then got his deck ready, "I think we can take 'em easy." Ray agreed on that as she is showing confidence. The announcer then calls them to the field, thier opponents looks pretty easy. The duelists begins and Zarc is off to a good start. Ray got her monsters as well. Who she summoned up are one of Schuberta's nieces: Aria, the Melodius Diva. The field is swarmed with monsters, making it difficut to see. Zarc and Ray are fine however, as they can hear thier monsters, but thier opponents are getting frantic. The first opponent complained that he can't see his monster. Zarc rolls his eyes at the fake technology and at how the opponent is having trouble with it. "Idiots." Zarc insulted the opponent but barely audible. Having an idea, the second opponent spoke up. "Impachi!" The opponent called his monster's name, "Charge Aria!" The monster then charges at the musical monster, but Aria is really close to Ray! The blast knocks her off balance! Ray screamed as she falls. "RAY!" Just in time, Zarc dived to grab ahold of her before she slips loose. Once caught, Ray cried in fear, letting tears fall down her face and yelled out Zarc's name. "Hang on!" Zarc ordered, "I've got you!" Zarc the. reaches down with his other hand, trying to pull her up. Both opponents are in shock from the sight. Were the dreaming? Did they eat something to make them see that? No! They can't possibly be in love! Right?! No! They are looking it it; right before their eyes. With Zarc's help, Ray got back up and held by him, who is breathing heavily. "Thanks." Ray then gets her spell card ready, "Now let's continue this battle." Zarc then placed his hand on her duel disk with a look on his face. "... Let me take this..."said the angered demon duelist. Zarc has never looked like this before, eyes filled with malice. His gaze shifts to the opponents. "Oh shit!" The first opponent cursed. Zarc cracks his neck darkly, tugging out his next card. He pulls a multi-colored, summoning Starve Venom and Odd Eyes to the field. The monsters begin to rip through the opponents defenses. Zarc's face doesn't flinch. He WANT his opponents to fear him. To Ray's eyes, she is quite surprised. "Oh my." She spoke. And with that spoke, they win the duel, with thier opponents having almost run off thier field in terror. Zarc glares them down, even as the host announces them the winners. Unflinching, Zarc takes Ray's arm in his hand, gripping hard, pulling her off the field. Only Ray seems to see his change in behavior. "I hate this place..." Zarv announced, arriving back to the lockers room with Ray. "Zarc are you ok?" Ray asked in concern as Zarc released her. Zarc sat down, on the bench, fingers gripping his hair tight. Ray sat down next to him. "Zarc it's ok, we'll get though it I promise. Spoke the conceded love as she hugs him gently, placing her chin on his shoulders in empathy. The couple spoke about what happened then Zarv sighed heavily, shaking. In that reaction, Ray cries softly then felt zarc's hand on her cheek, patting her gently. "Let's finish up for today, then come over to my place..." Zarc suggested and Ray agreed to it and they then begin to get ready for another battle.
The day was long and grueling after that. Zarc and Ray took the title, but they were not into it at all. Still, the crowd seemed pleased, as they often were, to see Zarc and Ray perform. The ride home was quiet, unsettling, both of them still getting the impression they were being watched by someone. Zarc's apartment was huge, as expected of a champion level duelist. He removed his duel disk and cards, leaving them on the living room table, not wanting to be disturbed this time. "Are you sure you want to do this Ray?" Zarc asked, hugging Ray by the waist, "It's okay if you're not in the mood." Ray felt some nuzzling on the neck. The only words Ray spoke out, is the answer yes. 'I can't lose you Ray... the only thing in this world that I can love... how can I save you?' Soon, Ray fell asleep as Zarc did the same thing.
