Chapter 14: Sir, Yes Sir!
After the job and deals with Ronaldo Diaz, Lincoln was then asked again by Colonel Arturo Cortez to come to his yacht. He didn't have any second thoughts and went immediately.
While they were walking on the boat, Arturo appreciates Lincoln's effort. "Diaz was pleased, and would like to meet you again."
Lincoln then curiously asked, "Is that a good thing?"
Arturo politely replied to Lincoln, "Of course!" Arturo's tone then deepened a bit, "I'm starting to think that Diaz was responsible for our unfortunate loss…"
Lincoln, who already knew about this information, just pretended to be a bit surprised and asked Arturo, "What makes you say that?"
Turns out, after hearing the information given by Lexx, Ronaldo Diaz already knew about the drug deal between the Forelli Family and the Vance Crime Family, he was enraged because the approval of the drug deal was through his business partner, Colonel Cortez, not Diaz. And that prompted Diaz to send men to ambush the deal and take the drugs and money for himself.
"One does not wave accusations at a man like Diaz…I'm merely thinking out loud… No matter." He says those few line with a hint of seriousness, Arturo knew who Ronaldo was if he was ever screwed over. Even if he is his business partner, he still has to be careful. He then turned around to Lincoln with a warm gesture and says, "I have a proposal that you could profit from…"
Lincoln was now a bit annoyed and says to Arturo, "I don't have time to run more errands, Cortez."
Arturo puts his hand out, clearly sensing the impatience in him and calmly says, "I would have thought a man with such dangerous debts would be hungry for opportunities. Please, Lincoln, at least hear me out."
Lincoln, already knowing how honest Arturo is and how close they have become, he gave in and says "Go on…"
He was pleased that Lincoln listened again for his favor, then explained "I have a buyer for a piece of military hardware that is being taken through town. Pick it up for me…" then the both of them goes to a part of the yacht, "and once you get it, I want you to call me immediately, then…"
Lincoln then drives to Little Havana where the 'hardware' was supposed to be, turns out the hardware that was requested was a tank, which was driven by a convoy from the military base to the Viceport Military Warehouse, and coincidentally, the convoy stopped at a doughnut shop, seeing the presence of the military in the convoy, there was no definite way to sneak into the tank.
Lincoln had no choice but to engage them head-on and hopefully he can survive out of this situation. Luckily, Lincoln manages to drive off and eliminate few military personnel away from the tank. Once he gets in the tank and starts to drive it, he suddenly hears a voice from the systems of the tank, "Security protocol Delta India Echo triggered! Vehicle self-destruct initiated!" Hearing this, Lincoln the drives as quick as he could to the lock-up which was only a block away from where he was. Eventually, he did so successfully.
After letting the heat die down for a little while, he then receives a call. It was Luke Paul who called.
"Alright me ol'china! It's Luke. I might have a little result for you, but I need to speak to you in person. I'm enjoying a little R&R at the Club Malibu. Reckon you're gonna owe me a favor or two after this, sunshine. I'll see you later."
After Luke called, Lincoln wondered what the call was about, whether important or not, he decides to check it out for himself.
