Chapter 16: All hands on Deck!
With the Plan to Take out Ronaldo Diaz is put on hold for now, Lincoln decides to help out Colonel Cortez in dealing with the French; As it turns out, The French Secret Service has discovered that Cortez sent the courier, Pierre La Ponce, to steal the missile technology guidance chips, and now they want them back. Cortez, however wants to keep them and so is escaping Vice City on his yacht.
Lincoln arrives on the yacht, discovering it to be very busy in preparations for a departure, Arturo immediately approaches Lincoln "Circumstances force a hasty departure, amigo."
Lincoln then asks "What's the problem?"
"Ehh, the French want their missile technology back and after that last incident, I feel it is time to find safer harbors."
Lincoln, curious as to why would Cortez ride a boat rather than fly someplace safe, asks "Wouldn't it be safer to fly?"
Arturo just chuckled at his question and answered "I'd be dead before I reached check-in. Besides, I need to get my merchandise out of the country."
Lincoln, already knowing this might be his last favor with Cortez then asks "Need another gun?"
Arturo then grinned at Lincoln and says "You, my friend, are worth ten guns."
As the boat was leaving the dock, The French secret servicemen arrived and chases after the escaping yacht , riding on whatever boat they could find. They were already on the yacht's tail, but Lincoln fights them off and manages to kill them but more gunmen show up on Dinghys.
The yacht reaches a bridge, which is blocked by more boats. More servicemen are also climbing aboard, but Lincoln again manages to defeat them. The French then attack with two Maverick helicopters and then a Hunter, with Lincoln, destroying the three. Then they finally arrive on the open sea.
Once out in the open sea, they head down to the stern of the ship, explaining the gratitude the Colonel has for Lincoln in escorting him safely out of Vice City. "Lincoln, you have protected and served me well. But now you must leave us before we reach the open seas. I will lower my personal launch. Keep it, my friend, a token of my gratitude."
Pointing at the speedboat that is docked on the yacht, seeing it was of a high quality, nodded at him and says "Thank you Colonel."
As Lincoln was about to leave, he spoke up again "One more request. While I'm away, could you keep an eye on Ronnie for me?"
Lincoln, knowing what kind of woman Ronnie is, a tough and capable one on her own, smirked and said "I think she could look after herself, but sure, I'll keep an eye out."
Arturo, pleased with his answer, bid his last farewell "Gracias, amigo. Hasta luego."
"Adios, amigo."
And with that, he has led his ally out to safety and has acquired a new speedboat, he was relieved that his dealings with Arturo Cortez are over, but thankful as well. He got on his new speedboat and rode back to Vice City Mainland. After parking the boat on the docks, he received another phone call.
"Alright, Lincoln, it's Luke. I just heard from a mush that you've been a real naughty boy. Somebody has taken offense to you acting like a big guy all of a sudden, giving it the big shot thing. Well, I don't say I never warned you or nothing. Boasting is a mug's game, son. Anyway, I heard there's some price on your head and someone's going to have a crack at you, so watch yourself, and remember me, mate."
Hearing this from Luke, he must be very careful, because if he just slips up one time, he's done for. But he then thought that it'll be over once Diaz is out of the picture. And with him free of time and Lexx recovered, it was time to move.
