Marinette
"Emma can you get started on Jagged Stone's new Jacket? I have to finish Clara Nightingale's dress."
"Alright Mom have you given any more thought about going to that reunion?" Marinetter turned to face her daughter.
"I just don't know Emma. I don't think I can do that by myself."
"I can go with you! So can Bella." She said gesturing to my service dog curled up at my feet.
"I'll think about it."
Marinette had transferred to homeschooling a few weeks after Adrien left and Cat Noir disappeared. She never even got a chance to tell him that he had a daughter. She missed her pattern dearly, but she missed even more that Emma had to grow up without a father figure. Emma had Cat's golden hair but Marinette's blue eyes. She was a perfect mix of the two and she was about to be fourteen. Her parents had been really supportive when they found out she was pregnant. She moved out as soon as she had enough, which came sooner than expected when Jagged Stone dropped a check for an outfit she made for him. She moved across the city and raised Emma in her apartment. Emma was homeschooled not that she minded. And as soon as Emma showed a knack for designing the two of them created their own line and company M&E. Marinette missed her old friends but she was two ashamed at becoming a teen mom that she went no contact with all of them. By the time she had realised her mistake she couldn't bring herself to pick up the phone and call. Her mother had come to her a few weeks ago to inform her that she was catering her 15 year high school reunion. And Chloe had said that Marinette was welcome to come. Marinette wasn't sure if she could handle it though her days as Ladybug began to cause panic attacks this meant that Marinette had adopted and trained a service dog to help when she needed it.
"Mom that's the fourth time you've stitched that area you're making a mess." Emma said.
"Shoot."
"Go take a break I'll finish that up." Normally Marinette would argue but she was too tired at this point. Marinette stood up and stretched and walked out of their sewing room into the living room, Bella following close behind. Marinette moved into the kitchen to begin working on dinner.
"Leave Clara's dress for tomorrow." She called to her daughter. "I'm feeling like a movie night tonight." Whenever Marinette had been particularly stressed nothing calmed her down more than a movie night with her daughter. At first glance Marinette and Emma could be considered sisters. Marinette still looked like she was in her early twenties though at this point she was past thirty, and Emma was tall for her age and looked older than she was. Marinette called and ordered a pizza from the nearest pizza place. While she waited for the pizza to arrive and her daughter to finish Jagged's jacket she thought about the reunion.
"Hey Emma, do you want to meet my high school friends?" Marinette called.
"Does this mean you're going?" Emma called back excitedly.
"I think so."
"Can I come?"
"Sure, I don't see a problem with it."
"YES!" Emma squealed. They moved into the living room and put on a classical romance known as West Side Story.
"The ending is so sad." Emma said through tears as they watched the end.
"Yeah." The musical reminded her of her and Cat Noir's situation. They were in love but couldn't be together but in secret, and Cat Noir had left. He might as well have died from the contact she received from him, which was none.
"I have school tomorrow so I'm going to turn in." Emma said with a yawn.
"I love you darling sleep well." Emma kissed Marinette on the cheek.
"Love you mom." Marinette sat in the living room lost in thought before she decided something. After the defeat of hawkmoth Ladybug was no longer needed so Marinette had put her earrings in the Miracle Box. She went to the loose floorboard under her bed and pulled it up to reveal the Miracle box. Opening it up she removed the Ladybug Miraculous and put the earrings on.
"Hey Tikki" She said as Tikki materialized in front of her.
"Hello Marinette, is there an emergency? "
"No, I just missed you and wanted someone to talk to."
"I'm always here. You are allowed to keep me on all the time you know you are a guardian you need to have some way to protect the box."
"I just figured, you would prefer to be with the kwamis than me." She said. In all truth she was disappointed in herself so she took the earrings off, she didn't think she was all that good of a ladybug if she couldn't help her Cat Noir.
"You and I both know that's not true, while I love the kwami, my first job is helping you through life for as long as I can. You were a wonderful ladybug, and I missed you." Tikki said flying up so she could hug Marinette's cheek.
"I missed you too." Marinette said, trying to hold back tears. It didn't take long for the tears to start flowing once she told Tikki what had happened in the past decade and a half. Bella curled up next to Marinette as she told Tikki what happened. Bella seemed completely at ease with Tikki barely sparing her a glance even though she wasn't technically working.
"You should get some sleep. The reunion is in only a few days." Tikki said.
Marinette crawled into her bed as Tikki nestled into Bella's fur.
"I missed you Tikki."
"I missed you too."
A/N
If you are wondering why Emma is so happy about going to the reunion. It's because Emma so rarely get's to hear about her mom before she had her.
