(Note: It might be useful to either have some knowledge of Japanese or have experience with the game Okami before reading this, but it's not mandatory. Ogami sounds like Okami, which basically means God. The kanji for his name means "Big God". He's Silver Wolf after all.)
"I just don't get it" said Michiru one day as she paced the common room in Beastman Co-op.
Ogami lazily flipped through a newspaper, comfy in his armchair. "What now?"
"Well, this whole 'Silver Wolf' thing. What if it's true? If it is, wouldn't they just be a really old beastman?"
Ogami perked his ears and peered over his paper at her. Was she catching on? He wasn't sure she could handle the truth, but he'd be interested to see her reaction to it.
"Maybe you just need to think a bit harder," he said.
"About what?" She was surprised at his interest.
"Well, do you know any old men that look suspicious? Any wolf men?"
"Oh, come on Shirou," she snorted, "don't be so hard on yourself. You're old but you're not that old."
Ogami's eyebrow twitched at the insult. He held back from making a jab in return.
"But you are a wolf beastman," she added, "although, I don't think you have what it takes to be someone as amazing as Silver Wolf. You are pretty suspicious, though."
A vein in his forehead throbbed. "Hey."
"What? It's not like you're out there doing miracles for others like Nazuna is... even if they're fake..."
Ogami huffed. "What a joke."
"Hey that's rude!"
"Whatever. Why would Silver Wolf stoop to being eye candy for the public? And I thought you said they would be an old beastman?"
"Humph." Michiru crossed her arms. "Well, you're the only wolf beastman I know."
"What would tip you off, then? How would you be able to tell if a wolf beastman was Silver Wolf without seeing them transform?"
"Uh, I don't know... What about their name?"
"Why?" Ogami set his newspaper aside and leaned forward.
"Maybe something like... their name meaning. If their name was 'Silver Wolf' in Japanese, or even less obvious like 'invincible big dog'- or even better- 'Goodest Boy'!"Michiru laughed at her own joke. Ogami stared at her unblinking.
So is she saying... thought Ogami, that she came to these conclusions on her own... and she still can't put two and two together?!
Ogami pressed hands over his face.
"You," he said, "know my name, right?"
"Yes?"
"And you," he said, "know what my name means, right?"
"I've never seen it spelled but I'm guessing... Shirou is 'Scholarly Son', I can't argue with that. You're way smarter than me. Ogami is..."
Oh, has she realized it? She was right about my first name. Ogami's stare intensified.
"...awww you have a 'Big Soul", that's so sweet Ogami!" Michiru hugged him tightly. He stiffened.
Oh my God..., he stared into the abyss, Ogami is so obviously "Large God". She just doesn't get it.
"Welp, I guess I'll never meet Silver Wolf anyway!" She slapped his back, smiled, and left.
Ogami was left to deal with his own new revelation alone. She is completely hopeless.

The Next Day...
"Tanuki." Ogami approached Michiru in the common room.
"What is it?" Her innocent eyes peeked up at him.
He almost felt bad for her... almost. He was about to blow her mind. He stared into her eyes as hard as he could, making sure he looked as serious as possible before speaking.
"I am Silver Wolf."
She took a moment to respond. He wondered if she had checked out until her face contorted into a horrible smile and she shrieked a laugh at him.
"Wow, Shirou," she said with tears in her eyes, "that's just sad." She patted his shoulder before teetering away, still laughing.
Ogami stood unmoving. Maybe he'd cry too, but it wouldn't be from joy.
Later that evening...
"Ms. Mayor, thank you for helping me study biology. I know you're busy."
"Oh, it's nothing! Feel free to ask me again anytime."
Michiru and Barbara gathered their things in the Beastman Co-op common room, chatting about their day.
"-and guess what else?" Michiru did her best to hold back another hoot in front of the mayor, "Shirou said he was Silver Wolf! Hah! Imagine that!"
Barbara's smile faded a little as Ogami walked into the room behind her. "He is Silver Wolf."
Michiru looked back and forth between Ogami and Barbara as if waiting for one of them to yell "Pranked Ya!", but that never came. Michiru's smiled slowly dissolved into a terrified frown. The images played over and over in her mind, when she was mocking and laughing at Ogami, the immortal being White Wolf who many beastmen worshipped as a god. Overwhelmed by the revelation, she passed out on a couch.
Mayor Rose was worried, but Ogami stepped forward. "She's fine. Just let her sleep."
Old man, my ass. He thought, begrudgingly.
He led the mayor to her limo and saw her off. As he prowled back up the shadowed stairs in his long trench-coat, he couldn't help but think about what Michiru had said the previous day. Why would anyone think he of all people could seem suspicious?
