I don't own Fallout or anything related to it. The characters mention in my story should all be characters within the Fallout world. The only two acceptations will be the Lone Wanderer's sister Amanda, and the Sole Survivor's wife (which is a Synth) both of these characters are a result of mods that I used in my play through

The Pip Boy, one of Vault Tech's greatest inventions. It was a device that was able to keep track of the user's inventory, health, location, and so much more. Yet, its true brilliance was a result of a little known machine, called microbots. These small unknown creation by Vault Tech, would enter into the user's blood stream, and allow the user to interface with the Pip Boy's targeting system. With this targeting system the user's eye site increased for a short period of time, along with the users movements. This enhancement caused much of the users of the Pip Boy to move with super-human speed during combat.

The Lone Wanderer approached the Courser, his right hand gripping the handle of Blackhawk tightly. It had been five long years since held the uniquely designed .44 magnum in his hand, and yet in this moment it was the first time in five years that the Lone Wanderer felt complete. With a thought he activated his VATS and keyed in on his target. "Last chance, stand down, or die." The Lone Wanderer said in a chilled tone.

"Allow me to retrieve A3-21, and you and your people may live." The Courser replied in a robotic voice.

The Lone Wanderer targeted the Courser's head and chest. He pulled the trigger 4 times and saw the rounds fly through the air towards its target. Without waiting to see if the rounds hit, the Lone Wanderer rushed forward towards the Courser, pulling out Ant's Sting and again using VATS targeted the Courser's right shoulder.

As expected a blue wall of what appeared to be electricity sprang up in front of the Courser intercepting the rounds that flew at it. But right behind the impact The Lone Wanderer came in stabbing the Courser in his right arm, causing the Courser to drop his Institute Laser Rifle. The Lone Wanderer picked it off the ground, turned and still using VATS targeted the Courser's face at point blank range firing 3 times. This time the blue electronic shield did not spring up and three blue laser bolts struck the Courser in its head.

Blood and skin flew from the Courser's skull revealing part of a skull made of Steel. "Enemy's speed greater than a humans limitations." The robotic voice of the Courser stated. "Readjusting priority of threat calculations."

As the Courser spoke The Lone Wanderer dropped the Laser Rifle and again with Ant's Sting attacked the Courser. His first strike caught the Courser in its ribs. As the blade pierced the Coursers flesh, the Lone Wanderer drew it up towards the Coursers left shoulder, leaving a deep gash across t he Coursers stomach and chest. With drawing the blade the Lone Wanderer spun to his left completing a circle and drove the knife through the Coursers metallic skull. The Courser shook violently and then dropped to the ground lifeless.

"Holy shit he killed a Courser on his own." Harkness whispered. "Impossible."

As the Lone Wanderer bent down to retrieve the weapon the Courser used two bright blue flashes appeared before the Lone Wanderer, and two large men dressed in black trench cloaks appeared.

"Dante, get down!" Amanda shouted as she pulled the trigger on her missile launcher. The missile flew past the Lone Wanderer's head and struck the first of the newly arrived Courser in the chest. The explosion pushed the other one back, and flew the Lone Wanderer through the air. The Lone Wanderer hit the ground with a crash, his body instantly racked in pain.

"Threat level determent extreme. Exterminate combatant." The Lone Wanderer heard the robotic voice of the second Courser. He opened his eyes and saw the Courser raising a Laser Pistol in his direction, "X6-88 stand down." The remaining Courser immediately stopped his actions and stood still. His face and body as placid and unmoving as a statue.

"Dante, are you alright?"

"Dr. Li?" The Lone Wanderer said through a daze.

"Someone help me get, him into the settlement, now." Dr. Li screamed.

The Lone Wanderer woke up in a haze of pain. "Where am I." he said through a dry throat.

"Shhhh, lay still your body is still recovering from the explosion."

"Amata, what are you…." The Lone Wanderer began to remember the battle he was in. Quickly jumping out of the hospital bed, "Where is he? Is everyone one alright?"

Amata quickly ran to the Lone Wanderer and helped him back to the bed. "It's alright Dante. Everything is fine. Dr. LI stopped that thing from attacking. You are back in Springvale."

"Dr. Li?"

"Yes, Dante. We have a lot to talk about, but first thing I want to know why it appears your muscle structure seems to have been altered?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Your muscles are denser and thicker than any human I have ever seen. It's the primary reason why you are not in a coma from being so close to that explosion. And on that topic why don't you have any type of burn injuries?"

The Lone Wanderer stared at Dr. Li for a moment, and then shook his head. "I didn't think he did all that much to me."

"Who did what to you?"

"A while back, in Grayditch I met up with a scientist Dr. Lesko who was doing research on fire ants. Wait, what the hell are you doing here? Amata, where is Harkness." The Lone Wanderer said as he again stood from his bed. "And where the hell is that thing!" Blackhawk was in the Lone Wanderer's hand as he began to walk towards the door.

"Harkness is fine." Amanda said, "We're all fine. For now." She finished looking at Dr. Li.

"Amanda what happened?"

"Never mind that for now," Dr. Li said as she tried to get Dante to sit down.

"No! don't touch me!" the Wanderer yelled as he ripped his arm from Dr. Li's grasp. "Where the hell have you been? Nine damn years you've been gone, and then you come back with that thing. Those things killed a bunch of people at Rivet City. People that where your friends!" The Lone Wanderer began to shout at Dr. Li.

"Dante, please." Amata tried to calm him down.

"No, you saw what those things did. They almost killed me."

"To be fair Dante, they just wanted A3-21.."

"You shut up!" Dante shouted at Dr. Li, "His name is Harkness. For crying out loud you know him."

"He's a synth Dante." Dr. Li yelled back. "He's not a person, he is a machine."

"You sound just like Dr. Zimmer. I would watch that, we all know what happened to him." The Wanderer said in an icy tone.

"Are you threatening me Dante." Dr. Li said as she removed an Institute pistol from her belt.

"You leave without saying anything to us, you show back up with some overpowered things that kill a bunch of people and then attack my settlement. I sure as hell am not inviting you over for tea."

Amanda and Amata jumped in between Dr. Li and the Wanderer. "Please everyone sit down." Amata said as she stared at The Wanderer. "Dante please."

He stared at Amata for a long second, and the let out a breath. "Ok, Dr. Li, everyone in this settlement is under my protection. Where is that thing, I can't have him running around trying to kidnap people under my protection."

"I've sent X6-88, back to one of the few remaining out post the Institute still has." Dr. Li said as she returned her pistol to its holster.

"The Institute? I remember some girl telling me about them when I first found out about Harkness." Dante said, "She said she was from a group called the railroad." Then looking at Dr. Li He stated, "She said you guys were like slavers."

"The Institute is nothing like slavers." Dr. Li stated indignity. "We are striving to bring back life to this waste land." Turning to look at Amanda, "Amanda you've seen what the Institute can do. Look at the fresh water that runs through the Capitol Wasteland now."

"That was because of my father, not some Institute." Amanda said.

"My dear, your father was the Institute."

"What?" Both Amanda and The Lone Wanderer asked together.

"That's why I'm here. Someone destroyed the Institute. The thing your father spent his entire life building. This demon just walks in and destroyed it and murdered your father."

"Dad died, at the Jefferson Memorial, saving us from Augustus Autumn." Amanda said as she stood to stare at Dr. Li.

"No, he didn't."

"Then where the hell has he been? Why didn't he try and find us." The Lone Wanderer asked.

"After locking himself and Augustus in the reactor, your father was bombarded by radiation. When everything was done, he was dying. I was one of the first ones to him. He asked me to watch over you two, and then he transported himself to the Institute in Boston." Dr. Li explained.

"Wait transported himself? How, you said he was dying." The Wanderer asked.

"We at the Institute perfected teleportation." Dr. Li stated, "After talking to me he teleported to one of their facilities to get treatment. Didn't you find it odd that you never found his body?"

"I, I just assumed that the Brotherhood…." Amanda trailed off, "But then why didn't he come back to us?"

"Your father was dying, he needed to stay at the Institute for treatment. He couldn't leave." Dr. Li explained.

"Then why didn't he bring us to him," The Wanderer asked.

"He had thought you died yourself when you activated the reactor. About a year later he contacted me and told me of the work he was doing up at Boston, and asked me to come. I told him you two were still alive, and all the work you guys were doing in the Capitol." Dr. Li looked at both The Wanderer and Amanda, "Shaun decided that you guys were better off here." Dr. Li smiled, "He was so proud of both of you."

"Wait who the hell is Shaun?" The Lone Wanderer asked confused.

Dr. Li sighed, "Damn it, I slipped up."

"Doctor, please tell us the truth. We deserve to know." Amanda said.

Dr. Li was silent for a while then she took a deep breath and said, "Your father was born before the bombs where dropped."
