***I don't own anything in this story, so please don't sue me.***
Five grueling years had passed and still, there were no signs of imminent death on the horizon. In fact, life had changed drastically for the two oldest siblings of Hyrule. Samantha now had two children; a boy who was five and a girl who was two. Her name, as promised by Marcus so many years ago, was Lillith Rose McCloud. Her nickname was the same as the woman whom she was named after, Lilly. Unlike her older brother, she had light skin with bright blue hair. Her eyes were light blue as well and her favorite color, as many might guess, was in fact, blue. She had a blue blanket over herself and a stuffed teddy bear in her arms as Samantha carried her through the crowd to her husband. Marcus was sitting at a table with their son in a matching suit and waiting for the upcoming wedding to start.
"What's up?" Marcus asked his wife.
"Ginny wants to see me. I think she's scared about getting married. Can you watch the kids while I tend to her?"
"Sure. Come here, Lilly." Marcus held out his arms and Samantha handed the child to her father. Lilly eventually reached out and grabbed onto her father's shirt and wrapped her arms around his neck. As she grabbed him, she dropped her teddy bear and she cried out while reaching for it. Samantha caught the bear before it hit the ground. She held the bear out for her daughter and she quickly grabbed the bear.
"Mommy will be right back, alright Lilly? Rodney, will you take care of your little sister?"
"Uh huh." The young fox boy nodded his head. Samantha knelt down and kissed his forehead.
"Thank you." She kissed Lilly's cheek followed by Marcus' lips. "I'll be right back, honey."
"Take your time. I think we still have an hour before the wedding." Samantha walked towards the room where Virginia was getting ready. She knocked on the door and leaned close.
"Ginny? It's Sam."
"Sam! Help me!" She whined and in an instant, Samantha opened the door to see Virginia sitting in a chair with a beautiful wedding dress while Wicke was styling her hair while Francine was making small adjustments to the bottom of her dress. Zelda was sitting in the corner entertaining two of her grandchildren; Hao and Tetra. Hao was four years old and Tetra was two years old. Hao was a young boy with tan skin and jet black hair. His irises were also black and he had on a small black long sleeve shirt with orange pants. Tetra, on the other hand, was a sweetheart of a girl. She had bright orange hair, and freckles on both cheeks. She had dimples and her eyes were blue, like the ocean.
"Sam…I'm so scared." She whimpered and looked around frantically.
"Virginia, please don't cry. Your makeup will run and we'd have to redo it again." Wicke used a hair straightener and curled a different part of her hair.
"Ginny…breathe…you're going to be fine. You're marrying the love of your life and everything is going to be perfect. And your worrying is affecting your kids." She turned her head to see her two children staring at their mother with worry and concern.
"Hao…Tetra…mommy is ok. No need to worry." She put on a smile, but the kids didn't appear to be convinced.
"Hao, Tetra…" Zelda called out and they turned their heads. Zelda began tickling Hao and the boy started laughing. Seeing her older brother laughing caused the young princess to laugh.
"Tetra…do you need tickles?" Zelda smiled at the girl.
"No!" She shook her head with a big smile on her face. Zelda turned her attention to the girl and she laughed and squirmed underneath her grandmother's ticking.
"This will seriously be the best day of your life. Just breathe and relax. Don't overthink it…"
"But what if something really bad happens?"
"Stop looking at today like a glass half empty. It's a glass half full kind of day. You and Serena are getting married; you'll have the best marriage ever. Remember to smile and be positive, alright?"
"I can do that…I can be happy." She nodded her head. Samantha squeezed her sister's hand and smiled.
"I'm so proud of you, Ginny. I'm really happy for you."
"Can you check on Serena? D-Don't tell her I sent you." Virginia asked and tried to pass off that she wasn't too concerned with her family, but Samantha knew better.
"Sure." She replied and walked towards the door.
"Sam!" Hao called out and walked up to his aunt.
"You want to come with me, Hao?" he reached up and Samantha picked up the young boy. "Alright, let's go see mommy." Samantha opened the door and walked to a different room in the school. She opened the door to see David sitting with Samus coloring a picture of what looked like a dinosaur while Lusamine was styling her hair and Grace was fixing her dress.
"David, look who's here."
"Hi Hao." David said and went back to coloring.
"Wanna color too, Hao?"
"Yeah!" He cheered and Samus provided him with a blank piece of paper and a few crayons. Samantha set him down and he began coloring a picture.
"How're you feeling, Serena?"
"I'm scared, but also really excited." She replied. "Getting married to Virginia, officially becoming a princess, and being accepted by the people of Hyrule-"
"We're excited for you too. You already were a princess, and the people of Hyrule have already accepted you. Seriously, they all love you and treat you like one of the royals already. You're fine."
"Still…it feels unreal. Like, how many rules do I have to follow now?"
"Just don't abuse your power. That's basically the only rule we have. That and don't be an ass."
"Sam!" Samus called out.
"Alright, don't be a jerk. Better?" She asked her mother and she shook her head.
"No cursing in front of the kids. And especially not on her wedding day."
"Where's Misty? I thought she was your maid of honor?"
"She's getting me some water. I asked for a small cup and she raced out of here to get me…what'd she say? The finest cup for a princess of Hyrule?"
"She's taking it a bit far." Grace replied as she finished hemming the dress. "Done." She smiled and admired the dress. "My little girl…getting married. I'm so excited!"
"Me too, mom. Hey, so that make my mom a queen since I'm a princess?"
"It doesn't work like that." Samus shook her head. Serena looked disappointed, but her best pokémon friend, braixen, walked up to her and cheered up the bride.
"Honey, I'm still your mother. I don't need a title like queen to remind myself of that. I'm just Grace Yvonne…mother of the great Princess Serena. And that's fine by me."
"Mom…you're so cool." Serena admired and looked at her boys. "What are you two drawing?"
"A dinosaur!" David held up his picture which appeared to be an orange stegosaurus with yellow plates on his back. He had a smile on his face and he looked like he was next to a castle.
"Is that our newest pet?" Serena asked.
"His name is Peanut. 'Cause I like peanuts!"
"Peanut the dinosaur…I like it." Serena smiled. "What about you, Hao? What are you drawing?"
"Flowers." He held up his picture and there was a rainbow of colors as much as the eye could see.
"Those are really nice flowers, Hao."
"It's not done." She set the picture down and grabbed more colors and continued drawing.
"How's Virginia?"
"You know her." Samantha shrugged her shoulders as Misty returned with two bottled waters.
"They didn't have cups, so-" She paused and smiled at Samantha. "Hi."
"Hey Misty…everything alright?" She asked.
"Everything's fine. We're just getting ready. Are the bridesmaids preparing?"
"Lillie and Lana are about ready. I think Linkle has polished the rings so much, you might want to be careful. They might slip off."
"You think so?" Serena smiled and laughed. "She's trying so hard…I love it."
"I think Bonnie's also getting ready and we're still waiting for everything to go before giving the flower petals to Lilly and Tetra."
"I've got a dollar on one of them tries to eat a flower petal."
"It's not a matter of if, but when." Samantha replied and the girls laughed.
"I think that's that." Lusamine held out a handheld mirror to show the most wonderful straightened hair on Serena's head.
"Oh my God, Lusamine! It's gorgeous!" She squealed with excitement. Another knock at the door and when Samus opened it, Faba stood outside.
"Everything's ready. Um…is Serena ready to go?"
"We're ready!" Grace helped her daughter up and Serena took another deep breath.
"Alright…I can do this. I can do this!" She motivated herself.
"Misty, you ready? I'm going to go check on Virginia. Mom-"
"I've got the boys." Samus stood up. "David, Hao…we've got to go."
"But I'm not done!" Hao protested.
"Hao, you can finish it later. Your parents are getting married. It's an important day. I tell you what; if you boys come with me…I promise to take you to the beach."
"We were going to the beach anyway." Serena said.
"Shut up." Samus said between her teeth and Serena understood Samus' motives.
"Yeah! Yeah!" The boys cheered and David grabbed Samus' hand while Hao walked over and grabbed Serena's hand.
"Hao, sweetie…can you go with grandma?" She pointed towards her mother.
"Mama…"
"Hao, after the wedding, I promise to give you the best hugs." She smiled and kissed her son's cheek.
"Ok." He replied and walked towards Grace with his arms raised. Grace picked up the young boy and bowed her head to her daughter.
"I'm so proud of you, honey." She grabbed her daughter's hand once more and squeezed it before leaving.
"Bye bye mama!" Hao waved goodbye as they left followed by Samus and David.
"We'll all very happy for you, Serena. This is going to be great!" Lusamine smiled and the door opened followed by the four bridesmaids: Bonnie, Lana, and Mallow walked into the room dressed all in white and the three women gasped and awed at Serena wedding dress.
"It's so pretty!" Lana gushed.
"It's so sparkly!" Bonnie added.
"It's incredible!" Mallow sighed. "I'm so jealous."
"You guys…you're making me blush." Serena's face turned light pink as they waited for her maid of honor to get ready. Meanwhile, Virginia's bridesmaids which included Lillie, Francine, and Lusamine. However, Lusamine was the only one who hadn't actually changed yet.
"I'm so sorry, Virginia."
"Mother! You are going to cause Virginia to be late to her own wedding!" Lillie folded her arms in anger.
"Lillie, it's ok. There's no need to worry…Sam's not ready either. We still have an hour or so." Samantha returned and smiled at her sister.
"Ginny." Samantha replied and held out her left hand. Virginia gently slapped her sister's palm twice before moving her hand across her sister's and they slapped the back of their hands twice. Samantha then formed a fist and Virginia copied her sister. Samantha then bumped the top of her fist, and then Virginia did the same. Finally, they turned their fists so their fingers were downward and gently bumped fists once more. "She's good."
"Go get ready! I can't go out there without my sister. And mother! Where's-"
"Virginia, control yourself." Zelda spoke up as she walked up to her daughter. Zelda walked up to her daughter and hugged her. "I wouldn't miss this day for anything in the world."
"Where's-"
"With Fox and Krystal. Outside the door, to the right." Virginia poked her head out the door and saw Fox and Krystal holding the hands of Lilly and Tetra. Both girls had small white baskets filled with flower petals.
"Mommy!" Tetra began walking towards her mother, but Krystal picked her up. "No! Mommy!" Tetra cried out, but she couldn't reach her. Virginia quickly rushed out and kissed her tiny cheeks.
"Tetra, are you being a good girl?" She asked. Tetra sniffled and rubbed her eyes before nodding her head. "Mommy needs to wait in the room over there. She'll be out in a bit, alright? Stay here with Aunt Krystal and Uncle Fox."
"Ok mommy." She replied and reached out for her mother. Virginia hugged her daughter and received a kiss from the girl.
"Mommy loves you, Tetra." She smiled before Krystal set the young princess down. Lilly walked up to her cousin and grabbed her hand.
"Aw…she wants to hold your hand." Krystal lightly laughed. "Virginia, darling…go and wait. We'll be ready when it's time." Virginia re-entered her room to see Zelda working her magic on Lusamine, Samantha, and her own hair. After a few seconds, all three women's hair looked absolutely exquisite and professionally done.
"You really must teach me that one." Lusamine inquired to the queen.
"It takes years to perfect, and we're running short on time. Ladies…" She looked at the bridesmaids. "It is time." She walked up to her daughter and held out her arm. "Virginia…shall we?" Virginia gulped hard and placed her arm around her mother's. Samantha opened the door and everyone was on the move. They walked outside and Zelda stopped before entering the school grounds where the wedding would be taking place. The flower girls went out first, followed by the bridesmaids, and then the maid of honor.
"You're gonna wow them all." Samantha whispered as she walked out. Finally, they began playing 'Here Comes the Bride' and Zelda turned to her daughter.
"Are you ready?"
"Mother…I'm really scared."
"I'll be right here if you need me. Samantha is out there as well. I will lead when you are ready." Virginia took five seconds to collect herself before nodding her head. Zelda guided her daughter out where the group was waiting. Serena had not yet come out, so the only ones standing at the alter were her bridesmaids, the flower girls, and Samantha along with the priest and the many people in attendance. As they walked forward, Tetra decided that she had waited long enough and ran forward as quickly as her tiny legs would run.
"Tetra!" Samantha hissed, but she ran straight towards her mother.
"Mommy!" She cried out and dropped her basket while running. The people chuckled and laughed and Zelda stopped before Virginia knelt down and picked up her daughter.
"Tetra…did you miss me?" Virginia laughed.
"Uh huh." She laughed and she hugged her mother tightly.
"Now…shouldn't you be-"
"Virginia, she's not going to let you go. I suggest you keep ahold of her." Zelda whispered and Virginia nuzzled her cheek against her daughter's.
"Stick with me, alright? You can be part of the wedding too." Virginia whispered and Tetra cheered as she hugged her mother's neck. The queen and her daughter continued walking to the alter and waited for Serena. Lilly walked over to Samantha and held her arms up. Samantha picked her daughter up and rubbed her nose against her daughter's. The music played once more and the same music played and it was the same setup; two young children as the flower girls, the bridesmaids, the maid of honor, and finally, Serena and her mother. Her wedding dress almost rivaled Virginia's in beauty and elegance. She approached the alter and both Grace and Zelda took their seats in the front row.
"Hi." Serena whispered to her soon-to-be wife.
"H-h-hell…hello." Virginia nervously replied.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to wed these two in holy matrimony. Serena Alice Yvonne…do you take Virginia Lynn Hyrule to be your lawfully wedded wife? For richer or poorer? For better or worse? Until death do you part?" She looked way too riled up as her smile grew and grew upon her face.
"I do!" She almost screamed with excitement before covering her nose and mouth with embarrassment. The people laughed and Virginia giggled.
"…I'm sorry, could you repeat that?" The priest joked with her and Serena laughed.
"I'm sorry." He turned to Virginia.
"Virginia Lynn Hyrule…do you take Serena Alice Yvonne to be your lawfully wedded wife? For richer or poorer? For better or worse? Until death do you part?" Virginia smiled and nodded her head.
"Yes. Yes I do."
"Do you want to say it louder?" He joked with her and Virginia laughed at his joke while the two girls unfolded pieces of papers they had in their hands.
"Virginia…" Serena lowered her head and Virginia cleared her throat and began reading.
"It's incredible how love can change someone. I was merely a lost, innocent, young girl before we met. And now…I have hope. I have joy. I have you, and for the rest of my days…I'll remain happy and proud to be married to such a wonderful woman. I vow to remain by your side for the rest of my days. I vow to worship you as I would the great goddess Hylia. I will defend your honor, and proudly declare to the heavens above that I am in love with the most beautiful woman in all the lands: Serena Alice Yvonne." Virginia folded her paper and blushed.
"Thank you." She smiled and pulled her own paper out.
"When I started my journey, I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted. I set out to find something…fulfilling. I became a pokémon performer and I have made friends with my dear braixen, pancham, and sylveon. But…something was missing. It felt like I had yet to complete my journey. And then I met you…when that happened, it felt like I was on the cusp of completing my journey. And now, as we are about to marry…I feel that I have achieved it. I feel whole once more…I vow to never leave your side. To fight the fights you can't or won't. I will fight for your honor and defend Hyrule's name as well as the Yvonne name. I want nothing more to grow old with you and watch our children grow up." She folded her paper up and smiled through watery eyes at the princess. Linkle nervously approached the two women with two rings sitting atop of them; perfectly shined and gleaming gold with two sparkly diamonds atop the ring.
"Oh, wow…" Virginia gasped.
"Oh my." Serena gasped followed by a collective 'ooh' from the other bridesmaids and maids of honor.
"These are our rings! Get your own!" Serena called out and everyone up front laughed. Virginia and Serena collected their rings and smiled.
"With this ring, I pledge to be your devoted wife from now until the end of time." Virginia vowed to Serena as she placed the ring on her finger.
"With this ring…my love for you is everlasting. There was no beginning and there is no end. There only is." Serena placed the ring on Virginia's finger and the two turned back to the priest.
"If there is anyone who believes these two should not be together in holy matrimony…let them speak now or forever hold your peace." There was complete silence until David's voice could be heard.
"Grandma, I'm hungry." He pulled on Samus' dress and those around him began laughing.
"Rodney, not yet." Samus whispered to the boy.
"Welp, wedding's off." The priest joked and everyone laughed at his joke. "So, if anyone else has any inquiries…regarding the couple…" He gestured towards Virginia and Serena, followed by a few more laughs. "Then by the power invested in me, I now pronounce you wife and wife. You may now kiss the bride." Virginia bit her bottom lip with a smile and Serena stepped forward, but before their lips could press, Tetra reached out and placed a hand on her mother's lips.
"No." Samantha smiled and was the only one laughing.
"Tetra, can you hold Auntie Sam's hand for mommy?" She turned around and quickly handed her daughter off to her sister. Tetra was unfazed by the exchange and watched as her parents sealed their vows with a kiss. Applause and cheers from everyone in the crowd celebrated for the couple. The organ began playing them off and as they left, Virginia picked up her daughter and the two boys walked up to their parents and together, they left the area as a family. Though they just returned to their rooms and changed out of their clothes, and changed into more beach appropriate attire. The boys had their swim trunks; black with a flame pattern on the bottom for David and Hao's was spider-man themed. Tetra had an aqua colored bathing suit with frills around the arms and legs, and Serena's swimsuit was white while Virginia's was light pink. They changed and to her slight disappointment, Kakui was already grilling with Wicke helping out with the vegetables. In addition to her friends from Alola, the friends she made from the other kingdoms and countries like Hoshido and Nohr; Sylvarant and Tethe'alla, those from Forget-me-not Valley, even Fódlan were in attendance for the wedding. Virginia walked with her children outside and the boys ran towards the water. Virginia handed their daughter to Serena.
"I got them. David! Hao!" Virginia yelled out and chased after them. Serena laughed while looking at Tetra.
"Mommy's kind of weird, isn't she?"
"Yeah." Tetra agreed as Serena giggled and kissed her cheek. Virginia rushed to the water and sharply inhaled sharply as she felt the cold water against her skin.
"Mom!" David called out and splashed his mother.
"Bah!" She yelped and he laughed. "Oh yeah?" She gently splashed her boys in the water that barely covered their legs. She was in deeper where the water went up halfway to her legs. She splashed the boys and they tag teamed to splash their mom.
"Bah! Hey! Ah!" Virginia covered her face and laughed as she was continuously splashed by her boys. "Alright! Alright! I give up! You win!"
"We win! Yeah!" David cheered and Hao laughed while he ran towards his mother. Virginia scooped him out of the water and began walking back to shore.
"Alright boys, how about we get a little snack?" She asked and David ran towards Samus.
"You said you were hungry." She picked up the boy and kissed his cheek. "Kakui?"
"We're good. I was going to wait until everyone else was here, but if the brides want to eat-"
"We'll wait." Virginia called out. "It's only…what? Five more minutes? Ten?"
"Maybe like thirty or forty seconds. I don't know about the rest of them, but those heels were killing me." Samantha groaned while sporting a cute black swim suit and her two children sporting styles of their own. Marcus obviously had swim trunks with the Star fox logo on the front right part of the shorts. Rodney had black and white striped swim trunks and Lilly had an adorable light blue swim suit.
"Marcus…I've got to ask…is it really necessary to wear something with that Star Fox logo on it?" Serena pointed to the symbol of his team.
"Jealous?" He smirked.
"Hardly." Serena guffawed and laughed. The remaining attendees all changed into their swimsuits or beach style clothing. The pokémon also came out and were greeted to a grand feast of pokémon food.
"So!" Francine yelled out and quelled the noise from everyone else. "Later we'll have the ceremonial cutting of the cake, but ladies…" Francine held out the two bouquets the women left in the rooms. "Traditions are important in Hyrule, right?" Both girls grinned and took their bouquets respectfully.
"On three." Serena began. "One…two…"
"Wait, wait, wait. Is it: one, two, three, toss? Or one, two, toss on three?" Virginia asked.
"What would you prefer?"
"Well, it doesn't matter to me. I'm fine with-"
"Yeah, no…it's cool. They're not waiting for you to toss it or anything…take your time." Samantha replied with a sarcastic tone.
"You're so mean." Serena's eyes narrowed with a smile on her face.
"Get used to it, bitch. We're family now." Samantha smirked and the girls looked back at one another.
"One, two, we let go on three." Serena decided and Virginia nodded.
"One…two…THREE!" Virginia yelled and the two girls threw their bouquets back. Amidst the crowds of women who tried reaching it, Edelgard grabbed one with ease and immediately fell into a curled ball position to protect the bouquet like it was a priceless artifact. The other was grabbed by both Catherine and Shamir. Instead of letting the other one take it, both girls continued pulling it with aggression.
"I saw it first!" Catherine yelled out.
"Screw that, I grabbed it first!" Shamir retaliated. Eventually, Rhea herself slapped both their hands and picked it up from the ground.
"Both of you are embarrassing Fódlan. Be nice!" She hissed between her teeth and handed the bouquet to Bonnie. "Here you are, little one."
"Oh wow…thank you!" Bonnie chirped and held up her prize. "Clemont! Clemont! I got it! I got the bouquet! I'm getting married!"
"Not for a while, Bonnie! Calm down!" Clemont yelled and chased after his sister.
"Samantha, please forgive them. They do not mean any trouble."
"Oh don't punish them…please. It's all fun and games. By the way, where's Manuela?"
"My guess? She's at the bar." Catherine remarked.
"But there's no alcohol at this wedding." Shamir noted and Samantha gulped hard before slightly looking away. "There…is no alcohol at the wedding…right, Samantha?"
"…there…uh…might have been a teensy tiny change…in that regard…" She quietly admitted.
"Are you serious?" Shamir frantically looked around for Manuela and found her approaching them; completely sober.
"Lady Rhea, Shamir, Catherine…" She smiled and then it faded. "…what?"
"How're you feeling?" Catherine asked.
"I'm fine, if that's what you're implying. Lots of rugged men if I do say so myself." Rhea groaned and slapped her forehead with the palm of her hand while Samantha chuckled.
"Anyone in particular you have your eye on? Seriously…I won't tell." She smirked.
"That handsome fellow with the long blonde hair-"
"That's my dad." Samantha mentioned as the group began walking towards the food.
"Oh. Well…how about that gentleman smoking a cigarette down-"
"That's Virginia's dad." She mentioned again and Manuela was getting a bit annoyed.
"Oh yeah? Well, how about that one?" She didn't take her eyes off of Samantha and pointed to her left.
"I mean…sure, but…it might be weird to say you're…dating a…a tree." She looked uneasy and Manuela turned to finally see Rodney running in front of the tree she was pointing at followed by Marcus running after his son. "…and he's too young. And he's my husband."
"Manuela, this is a day for celebration. Stop thinking of yourself." Catherine stated while Manuela sighed.
"I need a drink." Manuela sighed.
"No! Absolutely not!" Rhea shook her head. "It starts with one drink, and-"
"Fine." Samantha replied and pointed to a direction away from them. "You see that hut down the way? They serve alcohol there. But…Manuela, I'm warning you now. If you start getting tipsy, we'll throw you out of the wedding." Samantha's warning hit Manuela's core and she nodded before walking towards the hut.
"She's going to get wasted." Shamir warned the firstborn.
"We took precautions. She's only allowed one drink per hour." Samantha explained. "Melvin is quite talented with bartending." Samantha recommended as she saw a young girl along with another girl with white hair and a red dress with purple sleeves playing in the sand next to the girl. The young girl was a child from the Kilvas clan and had jet black wings, and long brown hair. Her eyes were a matching blue and she wore an adorable black dress with matching children's dress shoes. Palutena and Bayonetta were sitting in two beach chairs in their bathing suits and both had sunglasses. Palutena was wearing a white and green top and a matching bottom. Bayonetta had a bikini purple top with a white skull and crossbones on the right breast. The lower part was purple with black hearts all around it.
"Who are they? They don't look so tough." Catherine remarked.
"One's a goddess and the other is a witch. They're pretty tough competitors." Samantha remarked. "I'm going to go say hi. Please enjoy the wedding." Samantha smiled and walked over to the little girl she had cared for. As she approached the young girl, the white haired woman stood in between Samantha and the girl.
"Viridi, let her pass." Palutena called out.
"But Lady Palutena! You'd let your own daughter be around those humans?" She asked with such vitriol in her voice.
"Why don't you see for yourself?" Palutena tipped her head up and Viridi turned around to see Genny hugging Samantha.
"How are you, Genny?" Samantha hugged the girl tightly.
"I'm ok." She smiled and looked at Sam. "Can we eat cake? I really want some cake, please."
"Ask your parents." She quietly informed the young girl. Genny flew back to her parents and asked Palutena. She pointed casually to her wife and Genny began flying back to Samantha.
"Genny…did your mom say it was ok for you to eat cake?"
"Yes." Genny replied.
"Genevieve…" Bayonetta spoke in a motherly tone.
"But mommy-"
"Come here and ask me, Genevieve." She lowered her sunglasses and stared at her daughter. Genny slowly returned and asked her mother. She asked her mother and from where Samantha was, she could see Genny's face light up. She flew as quickly as she could towards Samantha and tried dragging her with her.
"Sam, come on…mommy said we can have cake." Samantha looked out at her parents and Palutena nodded her head.
"Alright, Genny. Let's go get some food." Genny cheered and held her caretaker's hand before walking away.
"Hold a moment!" Palutena began running after Samantha, along with Bayonetta running after her.
"You know…we could have waited until they came back."
"It would seem that we should tell her now, so she can relay this to her family." Palutena explained to her wife. "Samantha, I believe it is customary for humans to select someone to be…I believe it is called, a godparent."
"Are you making me Genny's godmother?!" Samantha squealed with excitement.
"Well…yes, but-"
"This is seriously the happiest day of my life! I'm so happy I cou-"
"Samantha!" Palutena cut her off. "Look, Samantha…do not take this as a chance you will outlive us. It is merely a title you can proudly tell your other mortal friends." Samantha wanted to prove her wrong, but she also knew that Palutena would end up living a couple millennia and Bayonetta…there was no telling how long an umbra witch would live. Samantha nodded her head with a great, big smile.
"I understand. I will happily accept the offer. Thank you so much, Miss Palutena. And Miss Bayonetta-"
"I did not agree to this." Bayonetta stated with a cold tone.
"We agreed to this." Palutena said with a matter-of-fact tone. "Right now, our daughter would like to acquire cake with her new godmother. We shouldn't keep them from eating and I wish to continue receiving sunlight upon my skin."
"Just say you want to get some rays." Bayonetta shook her head. "Just…get her some food." Samantha nodded her head and walked with Genny flying next to her. As they approached the food, Serena and Virginia were already standing side by side, ready to cut the cake.
"Ready?" Virginia asked with a silly smile on her face.
"Yep." Serena nodded her head and the two made their first cut into the cake. Those around the couple applauded their first cut and they took the first slice. Serena her bite and fed Virginia. She ate it and fed Serena her first bite before stepping back and allowing the other guests access to food. As Samantha got in line, she was joined by three couples; Samantha recognized them as the house leaders back in Fódlan five years ago. The first was Edelgard and Hubert. A bit older, like Samantha and both looked more…intimidating than before. The next two were Claude and Petra. Claude had a chinstrap haircut, but he still looked like the little rascal that Samantha knew five years ago. Petra had long purple hair add looked as equal to royalty as Claude. She was pristine and professionally dressed. Finally, the last two were a young man with long blonde hair and an eye patch, but he still dressed better than the other two. The final female was the young blue haired girl named Byleth who appeared to have not aged a day since they last met.
"Oh my God, Byleth?! You look like you haven't aged since the first time we met…what's your secret?"
"I'm perfect." She lightly laughed and kissed Dimitri's cheek.
"Whatever." Samantha rolled her eyes and laughed. "Edelgard, Hubert. How are you two?"
"We are well, thank you. Congratulations on the wedding. It's wonderful to have an addition to your family." Edelgard nodded her head.
"Thank you, Lady Edelgard. I'm glad you and your…is it…boyfriend?"
"Fiancé, actually." Hubert corrected the princess.
"My apologies, sire." She spoke that last part sternly and turned to the last couple. "Sir Claude, Lady Petra! Dating?"
"Newlyweds!" Petra joyfully cried out. "This will be the day of moon made of honey!"
"She's trying to say-"
"You're on your honeymoon. I got it." Samantha nodded. "Are you spending it in Alola?"
"We are making a tour. We're starting with the wedding and then making a trip to Tellius, Ylisstol…Hyrule. I'd like to establish friendships with our neighboring kingdoms."
"Give us a heads up when you're heading to Hyrule. I'll give you the grand tour."
"It will be excellent to pass the hidden tales inside the structures of Hyrule." Samantha blinked twice in an attempt to try and understand what she was saying.
"Petra, we've talked about this." Claude whispered to his wife before turning to Samantha. "What she means is she looks forward to share hidden secrets within the walls of Hyrule. Basically, she wants to gossip."
"Oh." Samantha chuckled as she turned to the woman. "Petra, you're something special."
"I am sorry. English is difficult to speak and write. I am attempting the most of my abilities." There was a pause between the group and Claude sighed with a hand over his eyes.
"…you're trying your best?" Samantha asked.
"That one, yes." Petra nodded her head with confidence.
"Sam, look! We're getting closer!" Genny tugged on the firstborn's sleeve and the group suddenly seemed interested in the young girl.
"And who is this child?" Dimitri asked. "Don't tell me you have a child already?"
"She has two, sweetie." Byleth smiled with her arm around his. "They've been to Garreg Mach. You remember Rodney and Lilly…"
"Rodney's…the golden fox, right?" He asked.
"Correct, Lord Dimitri." Samantha smiled. "I actually want to know how this happened." She pointed to Dimitri and Byleth. "How did a professor end up with a student?"
"We were done with classes…Dimitri asked for me to join him for…was it coffee?" Byleth asked and her boyfriend nodded. "Right. It was coffee. Anyway, we started talking and realized we had a lot in common and we went out for a few more coffee trips and then…we just felt like a couple. So, we tried dating and it felt right." She rested her head against his shoulder.
"That's really great!" Samantha said as the group took another few steps forward.
"Sam!" Genny whined.
"Genny, be patient. We'll get there when we get there." Samantha spoke in her motherly tone. Genny pouted, but continued flying next to Samantha. "We're almost there. Just a little more patience, alright?"
"Who is the little girl?" Dimitri asked again.
"This is Genny. I took care of her while she was lost from her parents. My sister and I reunited her with her parents and we've stayed close ever since. They named me her godmother!"
"That's wonderful news!" Byleth exclaimed. "Who are her parents?"
"Do you know who Palutena and Bayonetta are?"
"…doesn't that make your title…kind of…hollow? Given that one of them is a goddess and the other is a witch? Like, no offense, but you'll never outlive them." Claude pointed out.
"Claude!" Edelgard glared at him.
"I'm being honest! Like, Palutena's gonna live to be…what? Two million? Twenty million years old? How long does a god or goddess live? And an umbra witch…geez, what's she going to live to be?"
"Claude." Dimitri spoke up, but Samantha held up a hand.
"Actually, he's right. Being Genny's godmother is a hollow title, but it's one I hold with pride. Whenever they need a night off, they bring her to me and she stays the night, or the weekend, or the week. She's very close with Rodney, and Lilly, and she's close with David, Hao, and Tetra too. She absolutely loves spending time with us and we love spending time with her."
"That's really sweet." Byleth smiled and gently waved at the young girl. Genny waved back and finally, they made it to the table.
"Cake! Cake!" Genny cried out and reached for the cake.
"Hold on a minute…they need to go first."
"Actually, it's quite alright." Hubert informed the firstborn. "If the child wishes for cake, then who are we to stop her?" He smirked which Samantha believed it to be a sneer.
"Hubert…perhaps you could try saying that with less of the…creepy…factor." Claude suggested. Hubert's eyes glared at the young leader.
"No fighting. Not at my sister's wedding. You want to fight? Take it out of here." Samantha pointed towards the entrance. Hubert and Claude hesitated for a minute before turning away from one another.
"You both are acting like children." Byleth remarked as she rolled her eyes and grabbed to slices of cake for her and Dimitri. Edelgard grabbed two slices for her and Hubert. Petra grabbed two slices for her and Claude and finally, Samantha grabbed two slices for her and Genny.
"More!"
"Genny, eat this one first and then we'll grab another."
"But-"
"Ah-ah-ah." Samantha shook her head. "One slice…and then we'll see." She walked over to a table and set the two plates down. The cake was a triple layered chocolate cake with white frosting all along the outside. Samantha cut a small piece of her cake and sampled it; it tasted like the purest form of chocolate she had ever eaten. Genny gripped the fork with her hand clenched in a fist and began scooping a piece of the cake into her mouth.
"Is it good?" Samantha asked.
"Uh-huh." She gulped and her mouth was covered in frosting.
"Genny! Your mouth is covered in frosting." Samantha grabbed a napkin and dabbed it in water before cleaning her mouth. "Goodness gracious. No one will steal your cake, child. You can have your cake and eat it too, you know." Genny seemingly ignored Samantha's words and continued eating her cake with as much frosting over her mouth. Samantha laughed and shook her head. She ate her own piece of cake with elegance and grace and managed to finish before Genny.
"Genny…oh…Genny, Genny, Genny." Samantha shook her head. The young laguz girl was only halfway done, but her dress was covered in chocolate and frosting as well as her mouth and parts of her nose and cheeks.
"How did you manage to get frosting all the way up here?" Palutena set her plate down and licked her thumb to clean Genny's forehead which had specs of frosting.
"Are you incapable of feeding our daughter?" Bayonetta glared at the firstborn.
"Now, Cereza…I know you're not scolding my daughter." Samus setting two plates next to her daughter with David and Tetra following their grandmother. Zelda was carrying five plates, thanks to her magic. While Rodney, Lillie, and Hao followed her to the table.
"I…ah…I would do no such thing." Bayonetta protested while Samantha smirked.
"Mommy! Mama's being mean." Genny pointed at Bayonetta.
"Stop being mean, dear." Palutena sternly addressed her wife.
"It's not my fault, honey." Bayonetta replied.
"What a loving family." Zelda remarked with a smile. The table chuckled as the kids took their seats and began eating their cake. Virginia and Serena took a seat next to their family.
"And there's the loving couple." Zelda announced. "Virginia, darling, I'm so happy for you. Congratulations!"
"Mother, you're embarrassing me." Virginia's cheeks blushed as she look away and gulped hard. "And Serena-"
"I'm thankful to finally be a part of this family. Like, properly."
"Kid, you were always part of this family." Samus responded. "It's now official, but you were always part of this family. Don't doubt yourself." Samus smirked. "Good cake, though. Was it that green haired girl who made it?"
"Yes." Virginia replied. "Her name is mallow and she's amazing when it comes to cooking." Virginia smiled. "I'm just so very happy that everyone came out today." She looked around for someone else. "Where…um…where is father?"
"He's over there. You know he is when it comes to large crowds." Zelda pointed with a fork before helping Hao and David with their pieces of cake. Samus was helping Lilly and Tetra with their slices while eating her own piece.
"I wish father would come here and eat with us." Virginia frowned for a minute.
"Good luck trying to convince him to come here. He's quite thick headed." Zelda remarked. "Snake has always been a tough cookie."
"Grandma…it's cake!" Hao informed her and the table laughed once more.
"Yes it is, Hao. Is it yummy cake?" Zelda smiled at her grandson.
"Yup." He nodded his head and opened his mouth so Samus could put another small piece of cake inside.
"That's our son, Virginia. Obsessed with the world and always hungry for something." Serena placed a hand on her new wife's shoulder.
"Usually it's food…maybe it might be adventure one day." Virginia laughed. Samantha turned her head and noticed a worried look upon Samus' face.
"Something wrong, mom?" She asked and Samus looked up.
"Huh? Um…n-no. It's nothing." She replied, but Samantha knew better. She stood up and grabbed her mom's arm gently.
"Mom, I need to talk to you in private." She began pulling her mother away and they walked far from the group to speak privately.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing. You know you really shouldn't-"
"Don't lie to me, mom. I know you almost as well as mom does. Now, will you tell me what is wrong? Obviously, something is on your mind and I'm not going to stop badgering you until you tell me." Samus hesitated for a minute before sighing.
"Five years ago…you remember that winter when we were all at the castle. We were having our Christmas feast with Link, Malon, and all of them?"
"Yes."
"Snake had some information he withheld from the group…from your mother. In regards to those two spirits…Galeem and Dharkon."
"I remember. Those two were the spirits that the guardian Tabuu stopped from destroying each other."
"He informed me that we may have five to ten years before they come here." Samantha's heart sank. "I'm worried that your mother and I…we may not have the strength to fight them again. If we did-"
"It'll kill you." Samantha finished her mother's statement and Samus nodded.
"I'm…trying to figure out some kind of plan on what to do if…or when…they arrive. How do we fight them? How can we counterattack? What will happen?"
"Mom…don't think like that. If that happens, we'll round everyone up and set up a grand scheme. Robin is good at plans like this. Corrin and Azura are pretty good at stuff like this, plus Lloyd Irving and Colette can help. Lucina, Sheena, their daughter Hana…we've got plenty of muscle power and magical abilities to assist with destroying them. Plus, we have established connections with Fódlan and her nobles and royal families. With their help, we'll have more than what we need. You're not going to need to fight and we'll save the day. I don't want you worrying, mom." Samantha hugged her mother as tight as she could. "I'm not ready to be queen and I'm not taking the throne for a long time." Samus' lip quivered.
"B-But…Sam…"
"Shut up. No more talk like that. You're going to make me cry and then we'll both look like a complete mess." Samantha wiped her eyes trying to contain her now watery eyes. "So, I don't want to hear of it anymore. Shut up about Galeem and Dharkon. Shut up about fighting. Shut up about dying. Just….talk about anything else. Please, mom. I don't want you to think about dying yet. I can't lose you or mom and I'd give my own life before I let you die. I'm prepared to die to ensure you live a longer-"
SMACK!
"Don't ever say that! Don't you fucking dare say that!" There was a long pause between both women before Samantha spoke up.
"…we should head back."
"Samantha…" Samus said before hugging her daughter. "I fucking love you. I love you so very much and I'm sorry." Emotions swept over her daughter and she gulped hard.
"Promise me you won't leave me. Right now…I want you to promise you won't leave me for as long as I live." Samus broke the hug and kissed her daughter's cheek.
"I promise. No matter what happens, I'll be with you forever." Samus sniffled and sharply exhaled. "Come on, the others are probably wondering where we've gone or what the fuck we're doing. It's your sister's wedding after all…we can't ruin this day with worries or disappointment. I've got to see the two of them have their first dance. You coming?"
"Right behind you, mom." Samantha smiled and followed her mother. Today was a glorious day for the Hyrule royal family; a young woman was forever entered within the family and though Samus and now Samantha had their worries about the future, they decided that today was all about Virginia and Serena. This was their day and nothing would ruin this day for them. Whatever happens in the future may or may not occur, but for right now, they're living in the moment and spending time with their friends and loved ones. For the good of Hyrule, today would be an extraordinary day for the Hyrule royal family.
