Later that night, up in the tree, Dipper, Hilda, and Craig were waiting impatiently for this creature to finally show up. The three set down the creature ball toy from before. Craig was holding a net.
"Alright. At any moment, this giant will come to try to take away the toy," said Dipper.
"And when he does, we'll catch him and put this thievery to a rest," said Hilda.
Just then, there was some rustling in the bushes.
"I hear something!" said Craig. And he threw the net straight down.
"Craig, wait!"
The net landed dead on the ground with only air under it. A rabbit jumped out of the bush and ran off.
"That wasn't it," said Hilda.
"Well, I know that now..." said Craig, climbing down to get the net.
A few moments of waiting later...
"I hear something again!"
More rustling came from the bushes.
"I got it!"
And Craig tossed the net, only for a deer to come out and walk all over the net. Craig was even more disappointed.
"Aw man! I missed it!"
"Craig!" said an annoyed Dipper and Hilda.
But the third attempt to catch the creature was the worst one yet. Dipper and Hilda were starting to get tired. Once again, the bushes rustled. Craig screamed as he threw down the net. Dipper and Hilda looked up to see Craig had disappeared.
"Where did Craig go?" said Hilda.
The two looked down to see Craig straining and all tangled up in the net on the ground.
"A little help guys?"
Once the two had gotten Craig out of his little predicament, they had a stern talk with him.
"Okay, Craig, what are you doing?" asked Dipper.
"Trying to catch the creature!" said Craig.
"You can't just throw the net every time you hear something rustle!" replied Dipper. "That's not how you catch a creature. Trust me, I know from experience."
"Craig, you can't be impatient," said Hilda. "You can't rush a creature."
Craig sighed. "I'm sorry, guys. I just want to catch this thing badly so it can stop taking people's things!"
"As someone who studies the paranormal himself, sometimes you gotta wait a long time for these things to happen," said Dipper.
"Don't worry. We'll be here to keep you company," said Hilda. "We will catch this thing!"
"Alright then," said Craig. "Thanks guys."
Just then, the three heard rustling in the distance. The three jumped up and looked in the bushes. It was really dark, but they could barely make out a tall, large figure walking through the bushes.
"I see something," whispered Hilda. "It's coming this way!"
"The net! The net!" said Dipper.
Craig frantically got out the net, ready to catch the figure.
"Finally! Now to catch this crook!" said Craig, excitedly.
The figure got closer and closer to the bait.
"Annnd-"
"Wait!" said Hilda. "I recognize that shape!"
"Oh come on!" said Craig, frustrated.
"Hilda's right. Is that?"
The figure finally walked out of the bushes to reveal only the Bear Stack.
"Oh, hi guys!" called Grizz nervously from below.
"What the?" Craig hopped down the tree. "Grizz? Panda? The third one? What are you guys doing? We're trying to hunt a creature!"
"A creature you say?" said Panda, equally as nervously as Grizz.
"Yeah! There's been a giant that's been roaming around the Creek and taking people's things!"
"Oooooh! You must mean us!"
"Huh?" the three said in unison, confused.
"Yeah! You caught us at a bad time! We're just, uh, doing our community service," said Panda.
"Yes, siree!" said Grizz. "We've been assigned to clean the forest of garbage. We must have accidentally taken your things by mistake."
"Ice Bear's mistake."
"You're... doing community service?" asked Dipper. "All of a sudden?"
"In a creek that's not even in your area?" asked Hilda.
"All day?" asked Craig.
"...yep," said Grizz.
...
"Well... here you go!" said Grizz, pulling out Craig's sled out of his bag.
"Yep! You're sled's fine!" said Panda. "Nothing happened to it at all! Just a big misunderstanding!"
Craig, Hilda, and Dipper gave the three a deadpan expression.
"See ya!" said the two.
"...okay, bye," said a confused Craig.
"Come on, bros. Let's go home to do non-suspicious things!" said Grizz.
The three bears abruptly turned around and wlaked in the opposite direction, sweating nervously.
"I can't believe that actually worked," whispered Panda in awe.
"See? What'd I tell ya?" said Grizz. "I knew they'd buy it! They won't be suspecting anything from here on out!"
Back at the tree...
"Okay, something is definitely going on here," said Craig.
"Definitely is an understatement," said Hilda.
"How stupid do they think we are?" asked Dipper. "Come on. Let's follow them behind their back."
