Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V: Pendulum Of Kings
Chapter 7: Time To Reflect
Before we begin, here we have an in depth look inside my head, and the process of writing fanfiction:
Right Brain: "Oh boy! This fanfic is going awesome! And I have so many more good ideas for Yu-gi-oh fics!"
Left Brain: "Okay, stop. We should stick with one fanfic for now. Don't get carried away."
Right Brain: "But I have so many good ideas!" Dumps pile of papers on table. "Here's a 5DS oc thing, here's a Zexal AU, and here's a Vrains thing with multiple ocs! Aren't these all great!?"
Left Brain: "Okay, calm down. Maybe we can do ONE of those when IWriteDumbStuff's summer vacation starts and he doesn't have online classes. But, for now, one fanfic is enough."
Right Brain: "But I wanna do em now! They're so cool!"
Left Brain: "Will you please shut up?"
And that's my creative process. If you want to know more about those fanfic ideas, you can pm me or something. Good day.
It's not losing that bothered me. It's how fast I lost. Yuya at least survived for more than four turns. I know I'm not good at action duels, but maybe if it was an action duel I could have saved myself. I had no clue why or how I was in this dimension, but if I couldn't survive more than four turns, then how was I going to win against Academia? I'd probably get carded before the season finished.
"Thomas! Hey Thomas! You okay?" Yuzu asked, snapping her fingers in front of my face.
"I lost… I had nothing I could have used to save myself if Reiji attacked… I let all of you down…" I muttered. I know I was being dramatic, but at least I'm in a world we're I can be dramatic about card games. I hadn't known them long, but now I considered the cast of this show my friends. "If I was better at action duels or pendulum summoning, I could have won, but I suck at action duels and I hardly use pendulum! I need to get better!" I shouted.
"Thomas, calm down. There's nothing you could have done."
"Thanks, Yuzu. I'll just go ask Yuya if he can help me get better at action duels and pendulum summoning, and then I'll be a much better duelist."
"Yeah… about that. Yuya's as depressed as you are right now. He's shocked that someone besides you two could pendulum summon."
"Oh come on!" I walked up to Yuya outside the arena. "Yuya, snap out of it! I need your help! I need you to teach me about action duels and pendulum summoning!"
"Oh!" Yuya snapped. "Why don't you ask REIJI?! He can pendulum summon too!"
"I didn't mean it like that! I need your help so I can beat Reiji next time!"
"Oh, have you tried not sucking at duel monsters!?"
"Have you tried not being an asshole!?"
"Fine!"
"Fine!"
I turned around and walked out.
I was sure Shuzo was probably dueling Yuya now. Great. And he's gonna win because he has protagonist powers and is the reincarnation of some dragon god. Meanwhile, I was just an ordinary guy trying to survive in another dimension. I never asked for any of this. Playing card games all the time seemed fun at first, but now I just wanted to go home.
"Thomas, I know you're upset you nearly lost, but you shouldn't have snapped at Yuya like that." Yuzu walked up behind me.
"I'm sorry. I was just frustrated. I feel like I'm not strong enough. If LDS try to take You Show again… I miss home. Things were simple there.
"You've never mentioned your home before."
Oh crap! My fake backstory! "Yeah… I didn't have parents, but it was still a nice place."
"Can you… tell me about it?"
"Yeah. It was kind of remote. A small town in the mountains. Lots of trees, but not many people were interested in dueling. I'm kind of… self taught."
"You taught yourself how to ritual and xyz summon?"
"Honestly, when I bought my first structure deck, it came with a guide on duel monsters, and it taught me how to use all the summoning methods."
"You can synchro and fusion summon, too?"
"Yeah. I played with myself a lot, with decks I made. I was… happy there. One day I decided to enroll in the Maiami championship and hit the road. And I found myself here."
"It sounds nice. Peaceful."
"Yeah. It was. Thanks, by the way."
"What for?"
"It was nice to talk to a friend a bit. I'm going to go apologize to Yuya."
"I think I'll stay out here a little longer. I need to think about some things too."
"Well, see you at the school."
"Bye, Thomas."
"Bye, Yuzu."
Yuzu's POV
Eventually, Yuzu headed back to the school as it began to grow dark. The wind blew through the trees and made her shiver. As she walked past an alleyway, someone stepped out.
"Um… hello. May I go by?" The figure turned.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet you… Hiiragi Yuzu."
"Thomas?!"
Cliffhanger! Yes, I am that evil. I decided to do a non dueling chapter, so here we are. See you next time… On Zorc And Pals. Wait, that's not right.
