Yu-Gi-Oh Arc-V: Pendulum Of Kings

Chapter 8: Malicious Games

A/N: Remember how I said this story was going to be dark? Yeah… if you can't handle themes such as murder, don't read this.

Yuzu's POV

"Thomas, seriously, this isn't funny." Yuzu said to the cloaked figure with her friend's face.

"I'm not Thomas. My name is Yuki Judai."

"So um… can I pass?"

"No. Duel me. If you win, you can go free. If I win, I'm taking you to the professor."

"Who's the professor? And how do you know my name?"

"Tsk, tsk, Yuzu. So many questions." Judai stepped into the alley. "Now come in here. And don't try to run. I'll catch you." Yuzu followed him in. "Now then… let's duel!" From Judai's arm, a duel disk unfurled. The monster zones were each a separate blade protruding from it, and the graveyard zone looked like a fanged mouth. On top of the center was an orange, inhuman eye.

"Duel!"

Judai: 4000

Yuzu: 4000

"Ladies first." Judai remarked.

"Okay then! To start us off, I activate 1st Movement Solo! This lets me summon a Melodious monster from my deck. I summon Opera, The Melodious Diva (LV 4. ATK 2300)! Now, using the effect of Canon, The Melodious Diva (LV 4. ATK 1400), I can special summon her! Now, I use them to tribute summon Mozarta, The Melodious Maestra (LV 8. ATK 2600)! I set a card and end my turn!"

"Hmph. Impressive, I'll give you that. But orders are orders, and I won't let some singers stop me. Draw! Using the effect of Evil HERO Adjusted Gold, I discard him to add Dark Fusion from my deck to my hand!"

"Fusion?!" Yuzu gasped.

"Now I use Dark Fusion to summon an Evil HERO fusion monster! With Evil HERO Sinister Necrom and Evil HERO Malicious Edge, I fusion summon! Fallen savior of justice! Let hatred run through you and destroy all you see! Fusion summon! Evil HERO Malicious Bane (LV 8. ATK 3000)! Now, using Necrom's effect, by banishing him from the grave, I can summon an Evil HERO from my deck! I summon Evil HERO Malicious Edge (LV 7. ATK 2600)!"

Yuzu gulped.

"But I'm not even close to done! I normal summon Evil HERO Infernal Gainer (LV 4. ATK 1600)! Now, by banishing him, Bane can attack twice! Finally, I use Bane's effect! He can destroy all monsters you control with attack less than his, then he gains 200 attack for each one!" Bane (3000+200=3200)

"Oh no!" Yuzu cried as Mozarta shattered.

"Now, Bane, finish her!"

Yuzu: 4000-3200=800

"The second attack!"

Yuzu: 800-3200=0

Yuzu was sent flying like a rag doll. She slammed into a brick wall and slumped to the ground at the bottom, barely conscious.

"Now…" Judai said as his duel disk retracted. "I know I'm supposed to bring you to the professor, but… I don't really take orders from him. In fact, there's someone much more important than him out there. And that person… wants me to kill you." Judai pulled a switchblade out of his cloak pocket and held it to Yuzu's throat. "Some very powerful people want you dead, Yuzu. So… I'm going to have to kill you."

"But… why? Why me?"

Judai laughed. "Do you seriously think I'll reveal everything to you only for you to be saved at the last second? No. I'll be long gone before they. Ever. Find. Your. Body." He laughed again. "And now… I've put this off long enough. Time to di- oof!"

Thomas's POV

After Yuzu didn't return for a while I got worried. I had made up with Yuya, and calmed down a bit, but I couldn't help but feel something was wrong. So I went out to look for her. And when I found her in a dark alley with a guy holding a switchblade to her throat I charged him.

I just want to say that, while I'm not flabby, I'm not a big fan of exercise. I go for walks a lot, but not much else. So I'm pretty sure I caught him off guard. Whatever happened, I definitely tackled him to the ground. And his hood flew off. He looked exactly like Jaden from GX, but he had the Supreme King's golden eyes and demonic duel disk. But most importantly…

"What the… how do you have my face?!"

He sighed. "Why is everyone asking so many questions? But, since you're getting in my way, I suppose you'll have to die like that girl there."

"Leave Yuzu alone!"

"I suppose you can duel me, but I doubt you'll last long. How about this… if you win, you and Yuzu can go free. If I win, you're both dead."

I saw no other options. Maybe I could hold him till someone saw us. "Okay, deal."

"I suppose you chose a painful, slow death. Let's duel."

"Duel!"

Judai: 4000

Thomas: 4000

Since Yuzu couldn't stand or get help, I'd have to win. "I'll go first! I set a monster and two cards! Turn end!"

Judai started cackling. "That's it? You're even more pathetic that I thought! My turn! Draw! Since I control no monsters, I can summon Evil HERO Infernal Prodigy (LV 2. ATK 300)! Now I activate Dark Calling! This card is always treated as Dark Fusion, so I can fusion summon! I fuse Evil HERO Infernal Gainer and Evil HERO Sinister Necrom to fusion summon! Fallen savior of justice! Let hatred run through you and destroy all you see! Fusion summon! Evil HERO Malicious Bane (LV 8. ATK 3000)!"

"Ohhhh crap."

"Now, by banishing Necrom from the grave, I summon a second Infernal Prodigy from my deck! Now, with these two monsters I link summon!"

"Wait what?! Links don't come until Vrains! How can you use those?!"

"I guess you could say I'm from the same place as you."

"What?! How… why…"

"Continuing. Fallen savior of justice! Let hatred run through you and pierce the light with your dark arrows! Link summon! Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer (LINK 2. ATK 1700)!"

I just stood silently in shock.

"Now, with Devicer's effect, I reveal Evil HERO Malicious Fiend from my extra deck and add one of its materials, Evil HERO Malicious Edge from my deck to my hand! Next, I normal summon Evil HERO Infernal Gainer (LV 4. ATK 1600)! By banishing him, Malicious Bane can attack twice from now on! Battle! Devicer attacks your face down!" My favorite dragon Christmas ornament popped up and was then impaled by an arrow. Dragon Dowser (LV 4. DEF 1500)

"When Dowser is destroyed, I summon an Earth pendulum monster from my deck in defense mode! I choose Amorphage Goliath (LV 8. DEF 0)!"

"Very well. Bane attacks Goliath." My monster roared as Bane punched it, causing it to explode. "Now, Bane attacks directly."

"I activate the trap Amorphage Lysis, since I control one Amorphage card, your monster loses 100 attack." Bane (ATK 3000-100=2900) Devicer (ATK 1700-100=1600)

Thomas: 4000-2900=1100

"I end my turn."

"My turn! Draw! With the two scale 5 Amorphage Envys, I set the pendulum scale! Now I normal summon Amorphage Pride (LV 4. ATK 1750)! I activate the trap Pendulum Reborn to bring back Goliath (LV 8. ATK 2750)! Finally, I activate Amorphage Infection, so since I control 6 Amorphage cards, my monsters gain 600 attack, and with Lysis your monsters lose 500 more attack!" Pride (1750+600=2350) Goliath (2750+600=3350) Bane (2900-500=2400) Devicer (1600-500=1100)

"Now, Pride attacks Devicer!"

Judai: 4000-1250=2750

"And Goliath attacks Bane!"

Judai: 2750-950=1800

"Wait, why is Bane still standing?" I wondered.

"Bane can't be destroyed by battle or card effects!" Judai laughed.

"Fine! I end my turn."

"You're annoying! But at least you put up more fight than that girl! My turn! Draw! I activate a second Dark Calling to fuse to two Evil HERO Malicious Edges in my hand! Fallen savior of justice! Let hatred run through you and rip your enemies to shreds! Fusion summon! Evil HERO Malicious Fiend (LV 8. ATK 3500-600=2900)!"

"Oh no!"

"Thomas!" Yuzu screamed.

"Now, Bane's effect lets it destroy your Pride and gain 200 attack!" Bane (ATK 2400+300=2700) Goliath (ATK 3350-100=3250) Fiend (ATK 2900+100=3000) "Turn end."

"My turn! Draw! Since I won't tribute a monster, both my Envys are destroyed!"

Goliath (ATK 3250-200=3050) Fiend (ATK 3000+200=3200) Bane (ATK 2600+200=2800)

"Since a monster in the pendulum zone was destroyed, Lysis let's me place a new Amorphage in mine! I choose the scale 3 Amorphage Pride!"

Goliath (3050+100=3150) Bane (2800-100=2700) Fiend (3200-100=3100)

"I set a monster and battle! Goliath attacks Bane!"

"Fiend's effect forces all your monsters to go into attack position and battle it!" My Dragon Dowser (ATK 1500-500=1000) flipped up. "First, I'll make your Dowser attack Fiend!"

"So I'll lose!" Oh no! I was going to get carded! What could I do? Wait! "I know you're from Academia!" I shouted.

"How's that supposed to he-"

"Emergency return activated." Beeped the duel disk. "Duel terminated."

"Wait! No! I was so clo-" He disappeared. I ran over to Yuzu.

"Yuzu! Are you alright?"

"I'm... fine. But what's a link summon? And what's Academia?"

Crap. "Don't worry about it. Come on. We've gotta go or everyone will be worried." Then Yuzu passed out. I sighed. "Guess I'll have to carry you now." I picked up Yuzu and started walking back to the school.

Ooh! So many mysteries! Why does Thomas have 2 people that look like him? Why is Judai after Yuzu? Who does Judai work for? And how can he link summon? Find out… near the finale because it wouldn't be a mystery if I revealed everything in the next chapter.

Finally, Right Brain vs. Left Brain pt. 2: Custom Card design.

Right Brain: Hey LB, I came up with some custom cards for this fic!

Left Brain: Don't call me LB. But let's see them.

Right: Okay, since Thomas's deck is based on the seven deadly sins, I made a card called greed kuriboh that lets you discard it to negate damage and draw 2 cards!

Left: That's kind of broken, nerf it to 1 card.

Right: Okey dokey! Next, here's 200 cards of Windwitch support, and 2 custom archetypes!
