Nidalee had been stalking her prey for over three days now. The creature she hunted did not belong in her world, another nightmare of the void had broken free and had been ravaging her jungle. The monstrosity looked almost like a cross between khazix and maokai, an insectoid body armed with enormous purple bladed claws, yet covered in green foliage and a skin that resembled bark. Never before had she seen such an abomination of nature within her jungle. Knowing not of its capabilities she chose to stalk the voidling in hopes of discovering some weakness. Yet for three days the thing never seemed to eat nor sleep nor hunt. She observed the monster sniff the air over and over, each time altering its course ever so slightly. It was searching, but for what. Many times over could this creature have killed and consumed animals of the forest, however, their presence was ignored by the voidling. The monster sniffed the air once more and made a sudden bolt in the direction of whatever scent caught its attention. Nidalee gave chase while being careful to remain unseen. She followed the monster to a small clearing within a fortress of trees. The voidling had slowed to a near crawl as it approached the clearing as if afraid of whatever may wait in ambush for those that enter the opening of greenery. Nidalee moved forward to see what the creature had been so hesitant of. Laying on the grass she saw the corpse of a man. "How did you get here?", she whispered to herself. She had chased the creature for at least twelve legions into the wild jungle. No citizen of city states nor merchants would ever dare venture this deep into the woods. The corpse looked fresh, the man was clearly injured and had likely succumbed to his wounds. How was he here? Although he wore no garment she recognized with any of the warring factions, she knew he was a soldier. What was he fighting out here? Why has this creature come to this place? Why does it fear the corpse? Nidalee's mind was filled with questions and she tried to make sense of the situation. While she was lost in her mind the monster had continued to slowly crawl closer to the body of the man. As the voidling neared its prey Nidalee thought this might be her only chance to ambush the monster while it fed. The huntress positioned herself within the canopy and prepared to pounce. Slowly the creature encroached on the man and finally once within range it extended its claws and raised them as if to incite a response from the dead body. Before Nidalee could understand what was happening the man's eyes burst open. He lunged to the side narrowly avoiding the guillotine that sought to end his life. The monster screeched and reeled back to stand on its hind legs in a display of power. The dead man showed no signs of hesitance and with almost inhuman speed he created a distance between himself and the monster. His hand moved in a blur as he drew his revolver and released three shells from its barrel. Neither monster nor Nidalee had been able to react. Nidalee stood frozen, never before had she seen such a weapon. Yes she had seen guns of course. The denizens of Piltover and Zaun obsessed over such mechanisms, but those were little more than crude machinery bastardising science and magic to create abominations of war. The revolver the dead man held could not have been born from the malice of such conflict, she could see onto its barrel a dance of nature playing in eternal metal. With each shot the animals that adorned the weapon seemed to roar and pounce upon one another. Three shots left its chamber yet only a single explosion could be heard. As if fired together two bullets pierced the creatures eyes and the third ruptured its nose. Nidalee flinched when she heard the monster roar again. How could anything survive having lost the majority of its face. The void monster screamed in anger and pain. It flailed about attempting to claw at anything within its reach. "What the fuck are you?", asked the former corpse "I don't know what hell you are from or what hell I've come to, but GOD are you ugly." The monster focused in on the voice and bellowed a disgusting wet snarl. In a blind rage the monster charged in the direction of the man, but the three shots that did not kill had done their work. The monster was without its greatest strengths, its sight and sense of smell. The dead man moved with an agility that would embarrass Wukong. He dodged the monster with ease and using a large rock from the ground he crushed the monsters lower spine. Now the creature struggled to stand but made another lunge at the man, this time a single bladed claw reached its mark and tore open a new wound onto the man's legs. The former corpse gave no expression when struck, only a slight flinching in his eye could be seen. He reeled backwards and spoke a single word, "Here." The voidling centered on the voice and made its final play. The monster leaped forward toward the man but the damage caused to its spine staggered its fall. As the creature came crashing down, Nidalee finally understood the creature's fear. The man made no effort to dodge, no motion to deflect, or run. He instead charged forward. As the monster swung its massive claw the man ducked and gripped its wrist forcing the natural blade toward the chest of its owner. The monster landed upon its own weapon having been pierced like a skewer. The dead man loomed over the voidling with a face of horrifying indifference. The corpse that Nidalee once thought prey was the apex predator.
