"Interesting", thought the huntress, never before had she seen any normal man stand against a nightmare of the void and emerge victorious. She looked back onto the battlefield hidden behind the armies of trees. The man still stood there, staring upon his kill as if contemplating something. He then began to move toward the monster and pulled the claw that ended the creature's life from its torso. He then used the other bladed arm to sever the claw from the appendage leaving only a small piece of barky skeleton as a makeshift grip, he repeated the same with the monster's other arm. Now wielding the nightmarish twin blades of the monster the man began to walk toward the dense canopy. Nidalee chose to follow. Eight legions she counted, since his battle the man had lumbered eight legions closer to the border of her jungle. He went on without food or water, never once stopping to rest. He continued onward until dusk, the man then looked upward to the skies in a feeble attempt to navigate the stars. He gave up quickly and made camp near a river. Using a few sticks and old dried wood he built a campfire and produced the corpse of a rabbit he had killed during the journey. Nidalee kept her distance. She too had followed relentlessly and without stopping to eat or drink, she too had grown tired. She had seen him catch the rabbit, he had seen it run into its den only to reach in and pull it back out. He had killed the critter with a quick blow to its skull using the stolen blade of the void monster. She could swear she heard him speak a prayer giving thanks to the rabbit for offering him continued life when killing the poor animal. From behind bushes she watched the man clean his kill and begin to cook it. The delicate smell of roasting meat invaded her mind. Had it been that long since she ate? Perhaps she could steal just a piece once he slept….."I don't feed strays." She jumped at the man's sudden dialogue. "But most strays wouldn't follow me for so long…..or try to remain so hidden." Had he known she followed him? No, that is impossible, she took every caution to remain undetected. She never even left her cougar form for extra insurance. "Come on now kitty, I'll give you some rabbit." That last part caught her attention. She could no longer deny she had been found nor could she deny the hunger she felt as she smelled roast rabbit. Slowly the huntress emerged from the bush, ever so hesitantly encroaching up to the former dead man. "Well look at you, I only saw glimpses 'till now but aren't you a beauty" cheered the man as he held out the rabbit's thigh for the cat. Nidalee felt a sudden flush in her cheeks and the man would have sworn he had seen a cougar blush that night. "Never seen a big cat like you, most kitties would have pounced by now so what is your deal?" Nidalee sat there gnawing on the rabbit she had been offered. She thought to speak but decided against it. This corpse had killed the monster that stalked her woods without so much as a second thought. This dead man had returned to life before her very eyes. She still had no clue as to how he had come to fall comatose deep within her jungle and her mind could not untangle itself from the image of the man's revolver. She had seen weapons of all sorts during her time at The Institute but the man's gun held a design that felt almost alive and was made from a metal that she deemed too pure to have been forged by the dirty hands of mortal men. "Ah well, I thought in a forest with giant purple tree bugs maybe the other animals could talk or something." The man spoke as he finished eating his fill. He threw the rest of the rabbit to Nidalee before leaning backwards and speaking in a near whisper, "G'night kitty, sleep well." He patted her head and scratched behind her ears before turning over and falling asleep. Nidalee had never been more confused. The man clearly believed her to be no more than another hungry animal following him hoping to be fed. But how had he seen her? She contemplated on her journey as she sat by the campfire. Where could she have made a mistake, "glimpses" he had said meaning that it had been more than once. Frustrated she continued to recollect on herself without realizing the tendrils of exhaustion slowly pulled her into a sleep. That night she dreamt of the revolver, the image of roaring lions spanned across the silver steel barrel. She watched as the gun fired once more. The shell exploded out of the chamber and she could faintly see the outline of deer galloping along the smoke that trailed behind. As she turned her gaze back to the barrel the lions had become cougars and she was among them. Immortalized in silver steel she beheld herself among her parents and grandparents, further across the barrel she could see her ancestors. The glistering metal barrel seemed to expand for eternity until the radiant glow of silver overtook her vision. All around her the glimmering metal encompassed everything, and she woke with a start. Now the bestial huntress was never known to cuddle but such an extremely wild dream had not only phased her out of cougar form, she had also happened to pull herself very close to the slumbering stranger. She could not forget the revolver the man had just under his arm. She thought to herself that since she was already in human form, she might as well just reach in and take a look at it for herself. Nidalee then slowly reached under the arm of the jacket, barely touching the ice cold handle when suddenly a rough hand grabbed her wrist. "Have ya ever heard, curiosity killed the cat?" Nidalee pulled back from the man and jumped to a distance, quickly returning to cougar form. "Now now, you can't fool me with that anymore. I'm guessing you can talk, so you better talk before you end up like that nasty bug back there. So first off how's about a name?" Nidalee was hesitant but understood that he definitely had the upper hand and so chose to comply. She returned to her human form before she croaked, "Nidalee." The man smirked, "Well Nidalee, it's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Dorlan and you are going to tell me where the fuck I am."
