Chapter 11: Duels Ex Machina

The docks looked like a war zone. Trenches and craters were carved into the ground from the vicious attacks. Buildings had holes in them and blue flames still flickered. And it was about to get worse. Because I was going to duel Shun. One of the strongest duelists in the show. Yeah, I was screwed.
Shun: 4000
Thomas: 4000
"I'll go first! I draw!" Once again, a bad hand. "I activate Amorphage Infection! I set a monster and end my turn."
"My turn, fusion scum! I summon Raidraptor - Vanishing Lanius (LV 4. ATK 1300)! And its effect lets me summon another copy from my hand. Now, attack his face down!"
Amorphage Greed (LV 4. DEF 1950+200=2150)
Shun: 4000-850=3150
"Since I took damage, I can summon Raidraptor - Avenge Vulture (LV 4. ATK 1700) from my hand. Now I build the overlay network! Come forth, Raidraptor - Rise Falcon (RNK 4. DEF 2000)! I set a card and end my turn."
"My turn!"
Judai and Ethan faced each other in an alleyway.
"I'll go first! I activate Dark Fusion to fuse Evil Hero Malicious Edge and Evil Hero Adjusted Gold to fusion summon! Fallen savior of justice! Let hatred run through you and destroy all who oppose you! Come! Evil Hero Malicious Bane (LV 8. ATK 3000)! I activate the field spell Supreme King's Castle and end my turn."
The alley transformed into a bridge leading up to a massive castle. Lightning crackled in the distance.
"My turn! I draw! Since you control a monster and I don't, I can special summon Oracle Of The Sun (LV 5. ATK 1000)! Next, I normal summon Fire Ant Ascator (LV 3. ATK 700. Tuner)! I'll tune them together to synchro summon Sun Dragon Inti (LV 8. ATK 3000)! Next, by discarding a card, I summon Supay, Duskwalker (LV 5. DEF 1900) from my hand and Supay (LV 1. ATK 300. Tuner) from my deck! Now, I synchro summon Moon Dragon Quilla (LV 6. ATK 2500)! Inti, attack!"
"Bane can't be destroyed by battle or card effects! And I activate the effect of my field spell! By sending Evil HERO Malicious Edge from my deck to the graveyard, Bane gains attack equal to its level times 200!"
Evil HERO Malicious Bane (ATK: 3000+1400=4400)
Ethan: 4000-1400=2600
"Gaah!" Ethan was thrown back. "I… I end my turn."
"I honestly expected more from you. I really did. I draw. I activate Bane's effect. Your moon dragon is destroyed and Bane gains 200 attack. I attack you directly."
Bane: (ATK: 3000+200=3200)
Ethan: 2600-3200=0
Bane punched Ethan in the stomach, and Ethan flew back, crashing into his D-Wheel.
"Even that Thomas kid at least had a chance. He could have won if he knew his cards better. I would card you here and now. But He says I can't. Says you still have a part to play. What a shame." Judai kicked Ethan in the ribs, making him cough weakly.
"But I suppose you can still be useful!" Judai picked up Ethan, then hopped on the D-Wheel and drove off.
"Son… son of a bitch." Ethan muttered before he passed out.
"S-so there are multiple dimensions?" Yuzu stuttered.
"That's right," Lyla said. "Standard, Synchro, Fusion, and Xyz. Each dimension has mastery of a different summoning method. Standard has all of the methods. But there's actually… a fifth dimension."
"What?!"
"Yes. It's called Earth. That's where I'm from. The people there know all of the summoning methods, AND another method. Link summoning. I'd explain it, but we don't have all day."
"So… can you tell me more about "Earth"?"
"Yes. They don't have duel disks there, and don't know about any of the other dimensions. Duel monsters is played on tables without holograms. And people have a hard time traveling between dimensions there. They either have to have a near death experience at the right time, like I did, or be transported there by some other force."
"If they're so weak, why hasn't the fusion dimension attacked them?"
"The fusion dimension doesn't know they exist. And even if they did attack, they wouldn't last a day. Link summoning is so advanced and powerful that we can't fight it. Also, Earth has actual weapons besides trading cards."
"Why are you telling me all of this?"
"You know how Thomas has people with the same face as him? Including me? I think that we're all from Earth. When I got sent here, my appearance changed, and now my face looks like your friend's."
"So Thomas is from another dimension? And he didn't tell me?! Ok. It's fan time!"
"I think you can assault him later. If he survives. He's dueling my boyfriend right now and Shun is a little… cuckoo in the coconut if you know what I mean."
"I've got to help him!"
"Slow down. That duel took a lot out of you. You need to rest."
"Fine. I guess I'll just watch. Thomas can handle himself."
"I draw!" I shouted. I might be able to win this. If I played my cards right. Why was the fun of playing card games so short lived?
"I summon Amorphage Wrath (LV 4. ATK 1650+300=1950)!
Greed (DEF 2150+100=2250)
"So? They can't beat my falcon!"
"No. No they can't. But this can! I use them to build the overlay network!"
"What?!"
"Brilliant dragon dwelling in the cave! Spread your crystal wings and take flight! Come forth, Kachi Kochi Dragon (RNK 4. ATK 2100)! Now, attack his mechanical birdie!"
"I activate my quick-play spell! Rank Up Magic Skip Force! It lets me use my falcon as Xyz Material for a monster two ranks higher! Come forth, Raidraptor Revolution Falcon (RNK 6. ATK 2000)!"
"Stop the attack! I set a card and end my turn."
"My turn! I draw! I activate the effect of Revolution Falcon! I destroy your dragon, and you take half its attack as damage!"
"Aaagh!" I flew backwards into a warehouse as the giant bird fired missiles. Never thought I'd say that.
Thomas: 4000-1050=2950
"Now, Revolution Falcon attacks you directly!"
"Th-"
"Who said that?!"
"Stop trying to distract me! Take this! For the Xyz Dimension!"
"Gaaaahhhhhh!" Fun fact. Being blasted by missiles through a brick wall HURTS.
Thomas:2950-2000=950
"One last turn to save yourself, fusion scum. Make it count."
"I… told you… I'm not from the Fusion Dimension! Draw! I activate Pot Of Greed! Now, with the scale 3 Amorphage Gluttony and scale 5 Amorphage Sloth, I set the pendulum scale! Pendulum summon! Come forth, Amorphages Pride and Envy!"
"Thomas!"
"What?"
"Stop talking to yourself and end your turn so I can win!" Shun shouted.
And then I passed out.
I was floating in a black void.
"Am I dead?" I asked.
"Not yet, Thomas."
"Who said that? Wait! You're the voice that sent me here!"
"Yes. I'm here to give you a choice. You're about to die. You can go back to Earth, and forget any of this happened. Or I can give you the strength you need to keep fighting, and defeat Shun."
"Okay, mysterious voice. My friends in this world are idiots, never shut up, have stupid hair-"
"You're one to talk."
"Haha. Think smiles solve everything, and frequently assault me, but they're still my friends. I'm staying."
"Okay. Good luck."
"Wait! What's your name? And are you gonna be like Astral and be a cool spirit companion?"
"I have no idea who Astral is. And I don't remember my name. I don't think I have one. Just call me Hikari, I suppose. And I was planning on sticking around so you don't get yourself killed again."
"So you have amnesia? This is like the plot of a crappy fanfic. But whatever. I have a spirit companionnnnnnnn-"
"Hmph. Didn't even put up a fight. Time to card this piece of scu-"
"I'm not dead yet!" I shouted. I felt like I had all my energy back.
"What?! That attack should have killed you!"
"Tis but a flesh wound! I believe it's still my turn. Now, I ummm… uhhh…"
"Use your monsters to Xyz Summon." Hikari had appeared as a small ball of light to my left.
"Use my monsters to Xyz Summon! Come forth!" I opened my extra deck. "Brilliant light shows the path to the future! Appear before me, the savior of man and beast! I summon Amorphactor Hope, The True Evolution Dracoverlord (RNK 4. SC 5. ATK 2000)!" My new dragon looked like Amorphactor Pain, but it was a golden color, and didn't have ooze dripping off of it. The creature attached to its back looked like Number 39: Utopia, and even had the sword.
"Okay… what does it do… nice! I attack your falcon! Sword of the future!"
"Idiot! Even if you're back from the dead, you'll still lose! My falcon reduces your monsters attack to zero!"
"It would… but it won't! My monster's effect negates the effects of all other xyz monsters on the field, and reduces their attack to zero! And when it battles an xyz monster, it's attack doubles!"
Hope (ATK 2000x2=4000)
"An anti-xyz xyz monster… very well. But know this, fusion scum… my comrades will destroy you."
Shun: 3150-4000=0
Shun was bitch
"Wow! Sora! Yuzu! Did you SEE that?! I was so awesom-" I got hit on the head with the fan of death.
"What the hell were you THINKING?!" Yuzu screamed. "You could have been killed!"
"But I wasn't. And I was awesome."
"Oh, and why didn't you tell me you were from another DIMENSION?!"
"Crap. How do you know?"
"Lyla told me."
"I thought she was trying to kill you five minutes ago."
"We're friends now."
"Well that explains EVERYTHING. I assume she's from earth, too?"
"Yeah. Now, do you mind explaining why you wouldn't tell your friends this?"
"You obviously wouldn't believe me. What would you think if I just randomly said "by the way, I'm from another dimension" and expected you to believe me?"
"Uhhh… that still doesn't explain how you pulled that card out of NOWHERE!"
"Would you believe a magical ghost gave it to me?"
"A magical ghost? THAT'S what you call me?" Hikari asked in my head.
"No! Stop joking!" Yuzu shouted.
"I don't know, then."
"Whatever! Who else is from another dimension?"
"Let's see… Ethan, and that Judai kid that attacked you are from Earth. And Sora is a fusion spy." I looked over at Sora. Everyone from Xyz was glaring at him, and he was still passed out.
"WHAT?! You knew and didn't tell me?!" I got a few more fan slaps. I was starting to go numb.
"Can we continue this later? I have to go to sleep for a few weeks."
"Fine. This isn't over."
"Sorry about that. I forgot to tell you that I had to use some of your energy to make that card. Now that the adrenaline has worn off, you should pass out in a few seconds."
"Wait, what the fu-"

Shut up! You may have noticed that plot related things actually happened. Rare for this fic. I know that was a bit of an info dump, but don't worry… more next chapter. Yes, Hikari WILL duel, yes, I'm trying to up the word count, yes, Yuzu figures out a lot of stuff early, yes, I play too much Pokémon. Happy now?
