Remus looked around. He was currently in an old cottage in a forest. He walked around and noticed that everything was dusty and broken down. He would need to buy some new furniture and some food. He carefully climbed upstairs and saw a box sitting on the bed. It was old and worn. The boy was small, a foot long and a foot wide. The box was a faded red color and was closed but not locked. Remus opened the box carefully, with his wand in his hand, in case he needed to start casting spells at a moment's notice. While he could not become an Auror like James and Sirius because of his Lycanthropy, they trained him when they could.

Once he opened the box, he got a good look at the contents. It was a ring. He put his wand back in his sleeve after checking for curses, hexes, jinxes, etc. It was beautiful. It was black with a grey/blue stone in the center. On the side, there was an engraving. It was in gold; it was a crown with a snowflake in the center and oddly enough, the ring smelt of his cub. The ring was dusty too so Remus cleaned of the dust to get a better look.

Due to his Lycanthropy, his senses were heightened and he fought the urge to sneeze. He would seriously need to clean this place up. He stopped that train of thought. Sirius. His heart ached at the thought of his best friend. It had only been a month since the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. He would never forget the look of shock in those grey eyes as Sirius fell into the Veil. He would never forget the trance like state his cub was in when he approached the Veil slowly. Remus remembered running after Harry, all he knew was that he had to stop his cub from touching the Veil. Harry was the last living member of his pack besides him and both Remus and Moony knew they wouldn't survive if he died too.

But it didn't matter, because two weeks later, Harry was gone without a trace along with Ron, Hermione, and Neville. A day later, the twins were gone too. No one knew where they were. One moment they were there and the next they were gone.

Remus stopped suddenly as the urge to sneeze became to strong to resist. He accidentally dropped the ring. He heard it land on the floor. All of a sudden, he was surrounded by snowflakes and Remus Lupin knew no more.
