The thrill of the hunt surprised him for armed with new knowledge his plan would not fail. The pleasure he took from knowing things had fallen into place left him feeling dizzy with euphoria for chained to the wall was splayed a marvelous sight. What really tickled his fancy were her eyes, eyes that spoke of a shattered heart and fear unlike she had ever experienced.

Today would be a thing of beauty.

"A simple game and I wish to see how the pieces will fall. He will save you and when he does, my trap will finish him. If he doesn't, little Miko you will not, but added to this is another Miko, one who just hours ago stole your jewel fragments. Honestly, who will he run after? Time will tell and there isn't much left."

The little color that remained drained from her face, her shoulders sagged and a quiet sob escaped.

"Don't do this, I don't have anything you want. He's not going to save me! Please, I'll disappear forever."

"It's too late.

"Mama… please..."

"SANGO… help!"

"Miroku"…. sobs... "Kouga!"

"Anybody …oh god, HELP ME!"

"Please don't….. He's not here. He's not coming."

"Can I make physical pain hurt worse than heartbreak. Let's find out."

Her terror was a palpable thing, slicing and piercing through the air like a barrage of daggers and arrows aimed towards a heart that was slowly shattering. Tears, ones she had wished would fall for her, fell unending in the dark, only seen when they caught the glow of the barrier.

But it was her heartbroken, terror-filled screams growing louder and longer as the sinister cackling grew stronger that ultimately destroyed the mighty inu-hanyou trapped on the other side.

The jewel was no longer a pressing matter. Naraku had already won.

A.N: soooo this sad puppy came to be one night when I was stressed and depressed. My thoughts started to wander to how emotionally strong Kagome was and what would it take to break her. My tired little mind went crazy with ideas but the strongest one was this one, the end result. It was her heartbroken cries of defeat at the end that made ME cry….. Yeah…..
