[03.] Rot and who knows what else...

Two of the Beowolfs took the chance and lunged towards The Drifter. They simply backpedaled, causing them to bump into each other. Slashing the head off the first one they then dashed around to the the other side, quickly thrusting into the beasts neck. The bear-like Grimm and a few more Beowolf's were next. Dashing around them they shaved off more and more until one of them collapsed, having his joints fall out of place. The Drifter simply stabbed into it and slashed at the Beowolf and the bears arm. lopping the formers head and the latters paw. The bear was unfazed however and simply swing its other paw at The Drifter, who dashed back. Right into the range of the scorpion. Suddenly dashing away from the strike the Grimm simply walked towards them. Taking a few steps back The Drifter looked for any openings, but was interrupted by the sound of... arrows...

Dashing away from the hail of black projectiles he looked up and saw the cause. it was the bird Grimm. He was so enamored with dodging the feathers he almost forgot about the Grimm on the ground, and had to be reminded with a paw coming for his face. Which he simply dashed away from. The bear however wasn't lucky and was caught within the storm and was killed.

Dammit!

The scorpion kept its distance, avoiding the feathers and attempting to flank The Drifter. Occasionally getting close enough to attempt to strike The Drifter.

Glynda had finished attracting more Grimm, as per Ozpins suggestion. And was now simply watching The Drifter deal with the Death Stalker and Nevermore.

"They certainly have a handle on the situation." Ozpin mused. On the scrolls was video footage of The Drifter moving in and out of the way until they cut off parts from the Beowolfs and Ursa before simply moving in to finish.

"I still hold doubts of this 'persons' skill." Glynda stated. Putting the emphasis on 'person'.

"Well, that's why we're watching..." Ozpin stated.

"How will they deal with the Nevermore?" Glynda asked.

"Hmm.. I wonder as well..." Ozpin said, taking another sip from his mug.

On the cameras The Drifter was attempting to dodge the Nevermore hail and a Deathstalker flanking them. An Ursa came from the other side and forces the drifter back into the strike zone of the Nevermore and Death Stalker. The Drifter dashed out the way of the Deathstalker's tail and quickly severed it with three swings. The Ursa meanwhile got struck by one of the feathers from above. Seeing an opportunity The Drifter moved to one side and removed all their legs, before quickly dashing to the other side to do the same. With the Deathstalker now immobilized they just had to deal with the Nevermore.

"While they doesn't seem to have 'formal' training they can swing their sword faster than the average swordsman, although it seems their preferred method of attacking is to simply dodge out of the way and take a few pot-shots." Ozpin said.

"They don't have an aura , so they are at more risk of bleeding out. So they must be something else they uses for ranged targets..." Goodwitch replied.

"Unless of course, they never had to fight another human, or intelligent being..." Ozpin said. "Yes. They're much more used to 'simpler' enemies. They also have some similarities with one of our new students. I wonder if I should let them have a spar..." Ozpin pondered.

"That defeats the whole purpose keeping them hidden..." Goodwitch retorted.

"I know but..." Ozpin trailed off seemingly looking at something else on the video chat, looking down through the window Glynda saw The Drifter with his back against the tree. A massive cut was on their left shoulder, blood spilling out of it. The Drifter applied some pressure to it and slowly eyed the Nevermore as it prepared another feather storm.

"We need to get them out quickly." Glynda hastily said.

"Well it seems like they have other plans..." Ozpin said, taking another sip of his mug.

Glynda looked back at the cameras. The Drifter was dashing further back, until they was a good distance away and hidden underneath the canopy. The camera followed them and was above The Drifter.

"What are they doing..."

The Drifter rummages throughout their pouches for... something. And they pulls out a green mass, its faded lime tendrils thrashing about, all seemingly pointing towards them...

"Whats that thi-" Glynda was interrupted as The Drifter suddenly jabbed the mass into their open wound, its tendrils piercing the skin and burrowing its way inside. Their shoulder bulged comically before quickly settling down. A green viscous fluid spilling everywhere. And the wound suddenly disappearing.

*urk* "That's..." Glynda started, going green herself at the sight.

"That's the dead organism we found in their body..." Ozpin continued "Whatever it is it seems to be effective at healing wounds..."

"It could be the 'cause' right?" Goodwitch wondered.

"Lets hope not." Ozpin said, still worried.

The Drifter, now healed dashed of in another direction. Their cyan trail alluring the Grimm to make haste.

"They're headed for the clearing. Pilot, please make haste!"

"Yes miss!"

Looking up at the clearing, the Nevermore shot a few more feathers at some target.

"they're already there?!" Glynda said, shocked at the speed.

"They really do have 'some' similarities with our new student..." Ozpin said.

The Nevermore flew in circles, squawking at The Drifter down below. It continued it pattern of Spraying feathers from on high and screeching at them, at one point it was preparing for a dive until.

-BANG-

The sound of the gunshot was deafening, but compared to what it did to the Nevermore, it might as well be silent. The Nevermore now had a massive gaping hole in their abdomen, it fell. The remains of it simply scattering to ash, then nothingness.

"Well I guess they do have a few aces up their sleeve... and they seems more and more like her no?" Ozpin pondered.

"Pilot get us to that area now!" Goodwitch blurted, ignoring what Ozpin said.

"Understood Miss!"

Putting away the railgun, The Drifter watched as the Grimm fell down and turn to ash. The ash itself simply blowing away on some unknown breeze before it hit the ground. Looking around The Drifter saw more Grimm arrive, some more Beowolfs, another scorpion-Grimm,a spider-Grimm and a bear-Grimm. Although the bear was much bulkier than the rest. One of the Beowolfs roared and attempted to rush in, only for the bigger bear-Grimm to simply bat its head off. In the spur of the moment The Drifter dashed forwards and sliced its arm off before dashing back out of the way of one of its swings. The other Beowolfs rushed in, roaring all the way. They were quickly put down after the drifter simply stepped back, charged up their sword and swung, the massive runic hard-light blade melting through the chests of the Grimm. Some more Beowolfs prepared to charge but were simply batted back into the trees by the big bear. It roared again and all the Beowolfs backed up. The scorpion and spider kept creeping forwards.

They want a one-to-one?

The bear took no time to charge directly at The Drifter, without much time to react The Drifter simply pulled his sword up in an attempt to block the two paws. He held his ground until all three Grimm were close enough. Suddenly dashing back The Drifter pulled out a smooth white sphere. A line went through the middle only broken up by the massive square on one side. The Drifter simply rolled this into the group, it smoothly rolled along the rocks without any bounce before coming to a stop.

"..."

-Boom!-

It wasn't a typical explosion. it looked more like an EMP blast. but it did have a very clear effect. The bear-Grimm suddenly collapsed, black goo oozing from the mouth before disappearing into ash. The scorpion let out a ear splitting screech before backing up slightly. Its underside slightly swollen. The spider however, was unfazed and simply scuttled towards The Drifter. They quickly took out the railgun again, aimed squarely at the retreating scorpion-Grimm. The round punctured through the bone armor. Leaving only a husk to dissolve. The Drifter attempted to aim at the spider-Grimm. however the Grimm simply quick-stepped to one side and the bolt flew into the forest where some poor Grimm would meet it.

What a pain...

The spider-Grimm simply waltzed over to The Drifter, they knew that frontal attacks are all but impossible, but in order to actually hit the back he would have to immobilize it. Dashing several meters away from the Grimm. They began to circle it. at some point the Grimm became aware of what they were planning but it was too late. The Greatsword cleaved through the gaps in the armor and removed two of the Grimm legs. The Grimm screeched again and attempted to lunge towards The Drifter, they however simply dashed back.

Bumping into the front of Glynda. Who was watching the whole affair.

!

Leaping back and pointing their sword at Glynda, they slowly relaxed upon realizing who it was.

"Please understand it is much harder to keep tabs on you if you suddenly run away. You could of attracted more Grimm to your presence." Glynda said. Punctuating her reprimand by pointing her crop at the spider-Grimm, a Glyph formed from above. And a bolt of lightning came through it frying the Grimm. "They react to our emotions." Glynda stated.

I thought you were just telekinetic!

The Drifter looked back at Glynda with awe. She however simply ignored it. "Well, its almost done, the should be somemore Grimm chasing after you from there." Glynda said while walking back. However another roar from forest made her quickly step back and hold a stance.

"There are more coming through" Glynda said, as a group of Beowolfs made a mad scramble for her, she however simply pulled up a big stone and crushed a few of them. They were now aware of her and her powers. "Ill thin them out and you deal with the stragglers. Also if i tell you to stay back, please do.". She punctuated her statement by bringing forth another glyph, as more bear-Grimm and Beowolfs come through the forest. She dropped several massive icicles upon them. Nailing several of them to the ground.

How sweet...

"I don't say that as an insult" Glynda said. Using her semblance to hurl more rocks and another thunderbolt at the horde. "But I must remind you that you were almost killed by a Nevermore, if it weren't for your... supplies you would of died. and we don't know what will happen to the villagers." Glynda looked sick again.

She saw my Medkits?!

"I hope you understand we will have to perform another medical scan on you. you might vouch for the effectiveness. But we can't unless we have proper evidence." Glynda stated. Summoning icicles from above and puncturing a few more Grimm.

Dammit!

The Drifter dashed to one side and started hacking away at the two Grimm attempting to flank. He then dashed along to the other side, occasionally taking pot shots at the legs of the Grimm, some of the hits cut through making them collapse but they simply dragged themselves forwards. Glynda looked upon his fast swings with impassiveness as she prepared another summon. Eventually the horde was cleared out and The Drifter and Glynda were picked up by the bullhead and taken back the Beacon. Glynda was still a good distance away from where they sat.

I feel like i've already locked myself into a path for this story. I want to avoid the whole "meeting the main cast shtick" since it doesn't make sense why this one adult(?) is going to an academy. I'm not saying I will in fact do that. just that his interactions and what not might be small part of the story. On account of him not talking...

Maybe at some point i'll make a few 'short' stories with the drifter in other locations. (Short as in 3 'normal' sized chapters in one page.)

I prefer the amorphous mass of god knows what to syringes. it would make sense seeing as how he just jabs it in, and if you're at full health some green liquid spills to the floor.

The Drifter doesn't really have much of a personality... He just stands there...

Lets hope how I characterize him isn't crap...

And yes i did take the 'spider-Grimm' from a Jojo crossover. It's a nice design. and I cant think of any other grimm that would fit...

Hey what about a goat with a rocket launcher?..
