Origin 2

Gotham City 2 weeks later

"As you can see, the flourishing market for support items is only continuing to grow in demand." The board member finished his rehearsed speech for the rest. Corporate responsibilities were not the best part of Mr. Grayson's day. But with Jason still on his way back from overseas, he was stuck with it.

He sighed, wishing for a moment he was 40 years younger, swinging from rooftops without a care in the world. But the pain of his back quickly reminded him, he was not 40 years younger.

Looking down he wondered if he could come up with anything to get out of here. Looking back to the table he saw his phone turn on with the message "Cave Breeched." As confusing as this news was, he couldn't help but smirk getting up from the table. "Sorry gentlemen, but I have an important appointment back at the manor, so I'm afraid I must be leaving." He continued to smile at them as he left their tantrums behind.

Jason smiled as he exited the airport. Japan was nice and all, even providing a way to get out of the office, but there really was no place like home. The thought of Dick's annoyance at him for leaving him to deal with the board was also funny.

Looking to his phone he was soon brought out of his mood by the Batcave alert. He immediately mounted the vintage red motorcycle he left in the lot. This was serious, and seriously confusing. The cave hadn't even been opened in decades! Why anyone would be interested in the 50-year-old tech left in there, let alone know about. These were the questions that followed him as he rocketed down the streets.

Wayne Manor

Tim asked himself once again what came over him to think to break into the Batcave. This plan while not especially difficult given the disrepair it had fallen to, was still utterly absurd from a rational perspective. Almost as absurd as the giant penny he was now staring at. Seriously, How'd that even fit in here?!

He didn't even know if the former Robins even knew he was here!

Sighing, and slightly dejected, he returned to the stairs leading to the manor above. That was when he came face to face, with two rather interesting individuals. On the left, he saw a tall man with thick gray hair, blue eyes, and a welcoming smile which gave him some hope for the conversation that was soon to come. This was Richard Grayson.

The man on the right, while having similar hair and eyes, gave a vastly different impression. Sending an intimidating glare that froze Tim in place, he wasn't quite as happy to see the intruder. This was Jason Todd.

"Uh… hi!" Tim said slowly backing up a bit.

"Who are you, how'd you get in there, and why are you here." Todd let out in a voice as frigid as his glare.

Sensing Tim's sudden unease, Dick stepped in. "Let's just calm down a second." He said smoothly. "Just tell us who you are, and let's find somewhere more comfortable to talk." He concluded.

Now sitting in what appeared the parlor, Tim began his story. He tried to judge their reactions, failingly quite spectacularly other than brief notes of surprise when finding out about the hidden clues in the book.

"That's why I'm here." He said a bit faintly, still slightly worried from Jason's presence.

Taking a moment to formulate a response, the two older men glanced at each other before Dick began.

"That was quite the story. Really, it's quite impressive." He said still laughing at the kids run in with Endeavor on his trip overseas. "I still don't understand what you're doing here though, after all we're not exactly in any condition to do anything" he said while shaking the light smile held on his face.

"But you can train someone!" Tim jumped in. "Even without a strong quirk, if you trained them, they could do it, they could fill in until Almight trains a successor!" He exclaimed.

"Not really" Jason stopped his soon to be ramble in its tracks. "Weaker quirks need stronger minds. Without someone with the smarts and determination, no amount of training is going to be good enough. So, go home." He finished in his unchanging tone.

Dejected, Tim just sat there. That was it. This grand adventure of his, trying to find a replacement for Almight, was over. Or so he thought.

"Then again," Dick began after a moment's thought, "The inverse doesn't necessarily have to be the case. A strong, determined mind, doesn't really need a quirk."

Puzzled by this, Tim tries do begin "What do-" before being quickly interrupted.

"No. Uh uh! Not a chance are you suggesting what I think you're suggesting." Jason suddenly exclaimed, turning his glare on Dick.

"Think about it." Dick told him somehow remaining calm even with an increase in energy. "He managed to figure out the old man's riddle when neither of us ever could. Heck, he even found the cave!"

"You know what you're saying, right?" Jason shot back more exasperated than anything. "After everything we went through-"

"He isn't us." Dick shot back. "He's smarter than either of us were back then." Dick finished conclusively.

"Wait!" Tim, getting very tired of not following, shouted at the adults. Their eyes focused on him again. One as glare, the other joined by a wide grin.

"What are you talking about?"

The next year and a half went by rapidly.

Surprisingly, the easiest part was gaining his father's support. His investigations had apparently not gone unnoticed.

The first year, Tim was trained in acrobatics and close quarters combat by the former Robins.

Sadly, his father's condition deteriorated until Tim was unable to keep caring for him. Dick managed to allow for him to stay in an assisted living facility built by Bruce before his death.

After 6 months, Tim added more of his own studies to the arrangements. From forensics to technology, he began honing his detective work, even going so far as to examine some of Batman's many cases.

However, that first year was nothing compared to what started 8 months before the transition to high school. Dick thought it best he takes time to learn from one of Bruce's own teachers. Lady Shiva.

The next six months had him traveling around Europe, and later Japan, without letup. He even ended up helping stop a drug trafficking ring while in Tokyo. Thankfully, no local heroes were ever the wiser.

With this trip concluded, Shiva gave Tim a bo-staff, while simultaneously commenting on the uselessness of Tim's chosen weapon.

While expecting to return to Gotham, he was surprised to find out he would be instead trying out for UA High school.

Living in an apartment for foreign exchange students, he readied himself to be the first quirckless to enroll in UA.

Sorry if it seems glossed over, but I really wanted to get started on the main story. Next time Tim will meet some people you might find familiar.
