The night was chilly when Klaus Knew. It was chilly and dark and gloomy. In fact, Klaus didn't want to be partaking in the task that led to his realisation. He didn't want to be in a gloomy basement as Vanya learned to control her powers, it reminded too much of the mausoleum. A place Klaus would rather forget.

The night had started off well, Vanya managed to use her powers to shatter a glass. It seemed like a weird exercise all things considered but Five had said it was to help her focus. If she could focus her energy on one object she could then work on what exactly her powers could do. Klaus had to admit he was proud of Vanya; she had come back with grace. Whilst she knew she had done something evil in the future she was at least trying to gain control of her powers. Klaus knew it couldn't have been easy considering dear old dad was still medicating her, or at least thinking he was. So yes, whilst he was proud of Vanya he was beginning to get more and more annoyed with Five. He continually tried pushing Vanya which resulted in their current predicament.

Vanya had lost control, thankfully being in a soundproof box meant that no one could hear her as she screamed. It took a moment for Klaus to do anything. He opened the door and rushed in, only to be pushed back by five. Klaus glared at his little brother.
"No, she'll see you as a threat right now"
"Well, what do you want us to do, last time she destroyed the planet. We have to calm her down." Five rolled his eyes.
"Stay here, make sure that the door is shut. I'll calm her down." Klaus didn't even get a chance to argue as Five pushed him out the box and pulled the door shut. Klaus watched with bated breath as Five inched towards the light emitting from his sister. He seemed to be saying something, but Klaus couldn't make out what it was. He watched as the white light eloped Five and for one terrifying second he thought Vanya had killed him. Yet soon the light began to dim and retracted into Vanya revealing a heart-warming scene. Vanya and Five were on the floor with Vanya in Five's arms whilst Five ran his fingers through her hair.

After a moment Klaus opened the door, he inched forward, scared to disturb them. Once he reached them he noticed Vanya was sleeping and knelt down next to her. He took off his academy jacket and placed it over her, keeping her warm. Five didn't even look at him, his attention on the girl in his arms. With a sigh, Klaus spoke
"What did you say?" he asked. The only indication Five had heart him was the hitch in his breath before he ignored the question and stood up, making his way towards the door. If they were to get Vanya upstairs they had to make sure the coast was clear. He was once again thankful that Reginald was away on business. As he reached the door however he heard a sad voice reach his ears

"I told her I loved her," Klaus said nothing. He was sure Five hadn't meant for him to overhear. It was such a big declaration to make. As such Klaus walked upstairs, leaving Five with his thoughts
