Five felt like an idiot, it wasn't often he said that but at the moment in time, it was true. He was a complete and utter idiot. He didn't know how he had never noticed. It was stupid that he, the worlds smartest person had not realised something so obvious. He supposed it should make sense, she was the only one he could stand as kids and when he came back she was the one who he sought out. In the apocalyptic wasteland, it was her book that kept her sane. He knew that logically he wouldn't have been able to comprehend it even if he had known.
When he was with commission his days were filled with murder and hardships and then when he came back his days were filled with trying to stop the apocalypse only to end up n the past and trying to prevent it again. Then when they returned to the 200's where they were thirteen he was preoccupied with trying to help Vanya that he hadn't had a chance to really relax.
It was only when he relaxed that he began to realise changes happening in his body. He assumed it was just puberty… well until he realised it only happened when she was around. It was the little things at first. Like how when she touched him his heart sped up. It then gradually got worse, being in the same room as she made him somehow forget how to talk. He tried to dismiss it at first, well that was until he found himself downstairs, scrounging for coffee, the radio playing 80's classics in the background. He was so intent on finding coffee that he never noticed her enter the room. She coughed quietly and Five jumped, spinning towards her, his eyes wild. It wasn't until he realised it was Vanya that he calmed down. She smiled at him warmly, walking past him, towards the cupboard where Pogo kept his food. It was genetically engineered for him. After a moment of rummaging, she found what she was looking for. She stood up and turned to Five, a container of coffee in her hands. Five grinned at her impishly as she set about making him a cup of coffee.
When she finished she handed it to him, he looked at her unsurely. He never knew she could make coffee, she smiled at him reassuringly. Slowly but surely he took a sip and felt his taste buds explode. It was like he had found flavour for the first time in his life. Ignoring how boiling hot it was Five gulped down the coffee with vigour. Vanya stared at him, eyes wide as he placed his cup on the table.
"You make the best coffee ever" he exclaimed. Vanya giggled
"Yeah, okay" Five grinned at her.
"No seriously, how much would it cost to have you on hand with coffee all the time?" he asked. Vanya raised an eyebrow.
"I'm not your personal maid you know?" she asked. Five felt himself grow hot as all of a sudden a picture of Vanya in a maid outfit popped into his mind Five was loathed to admit it but he would pay money to see that.
When he didn't answer Vanya said his name, causing him to jump back to reality.
"Well… you wouldn't be a maid you'd be a waiter" he offered coyly. He stood up before Vanya could reply
"Yes I see It now, you in a cute little waiter outfit waiting on me hand on foot" he grinned. Vanya, on the other hand, rolled her eyes.
"You're an idiot" she stated. Five felt a lump in his throat as Vanya stared at him intently, how had he never noticed just how perfectly Gray her eyes where. He felt like he could get lost in them. Before he could, however, Vanya turned away. He felt disappointed well up inside him.
She grabbed the cup and washed it before returning to Five who had yet to move. She placed a hand on his shoulder
"Coffee is bad for you; it'll rot your teeth," she said. Then she kissed his cheek and left before Five could say anything. The boy raised his hand to the spot where she had kissed and groaned. His body needed to stop. He could not be falling for his sister, that just wasn't fair. Yet as his heart pounded, and blood rushed to his ears he knew that without a doubt he was in love. It was that thought that made Five grimace, he was screwed, so very screwed.
