Margo lay on an old lumpy dirty mattress in a small dingy room in the church basement. Light flooded into the room through the cracks of the ceiling. A gush of pain jolted through her body; her stomach ached, and her head was throbbing with pain. Margo sat up and looked around the room to find Lilith crouched in a corner with an open book on the floor in front of her while she made markings on the stone wall. It wasn't anything that she could interpret.

"Oh good, you're awake," Lilith said looking over her shoulder.

"I'm not even sure I went to sleep. I think I passed out," Margo said rubbing her head, "how long have you been up?"

"I don't sleep," she said firmly.

"Oh," Margo paused, "So what's on the agenda for today?"

"What do you mean what's on the agenda for today" she laughed snidely, "there are demons to destroy, Adriel lives, and the girls are still possessed."

"I was jus—"

"Training. That's what's on the agenda today, "she said standing, "and it will be on the agenda every day until we save them and defeat him."

"Got it," Margo said looking around, "so, not that I am confused but do you mind giving me a little more information on how we plan on defeating this...this Adriel who may or may not be an Angel."

"He's no angel," Lilith snapped.

"Okay...so what is he?"

"He's the first evil."

"The first evil?"

"Yes," she said in a low tone.

"So, he's the devil?" Margo said raising her brow.

"He has many names, if you can call it a he," she paused, "the first evil is an entity and can take on many forms. In this realm he's known as lucifer, the prince of darkness."

"But wasn't lucifer an angel?"

"In this realm yes," Lilith said gently, "Angels and demons are nothing but constructs for our feeble human minds to comprehend. If we saw their true forms, I think we would be less inclined to call them such names."

"And you know all of this...because you went to their realm?"

"Are you asking if I've been to hell?"

I mean I—"

"Yes. I was dragged to what we would call hell," she said staring at Margo, "but really this realm is no different. Demons walk among us; they only have better disguises."

"Ain't that the truth," Margo chuckled, "I swear my third-grade teacher was a demon."

"Maybe," she smirked, "Adriel is lucifer's disguise for the moment, but ultimately he is the first evil. If we can get him to reveal his true identity, then we can defeat him."

"Well, wouldn't he just take on another form?"

"That's a possibility, but we still have to try."

"Okay so how do we get Adriel to admit he's lucifer or the first evil?"

"I don't know," she sighed, "but there has to be—"

Lilith paused and spun on her heels to look at the markings she had drawn on the stone wall. Her eyes and mouth were frozen wide as she ran her hands over the markings. It was like she was seeing it for the first time.

"What is it?"

"I can't believe I didn't realize this before," Lilith said shaking her head.

"What? What is it?" Margo urged.

"Don't you see?"

"No!" Margo chuckled nervously, "I don't speak gibberish."

"It's not gibberish, it's Latin."

"Latin?" Margo said confusedly, "isn't that a dead language?"

"Americans," Lilith scoffed, "no it's not dead but it's that type of thinking that allows the OCS to operate without disruption. If normal citizens interpreted stuff like this, they'd be scared shitless."

"So, what does it say?"

"While you were asleep, I was snooping around and found this," she said motioning to the book on the ground, "it's full of ancient text about the first evil and it also lays out the story of Areala, the first warrior nun."

"What's her story?" Margo said leaning over to see the book.

"She was killed during the first crusade but Adriel, who we now know is the first evil, resurrected her with his halo and it gave her superpowers," she said turning the page, "her superpowers gave her the ability to defeat demons."

"Okay but if he is a demon or devil or whatever, why would he give her superpowers to defeat them?"

"I don't think that's what he intended. He was running from something at the time."

"What?"

"A Tarask. He was weakened by it by the time he reached this realm. He needed the trust of the people to help defeat it."

"So, he used his halo to save her, to hide is true intentions and identity. But why?"

"Because he has his own agenda," she said pointing to a grueling picture in the book, "if he gets this, he can destroy the boundaries of the realms and there would be no need for demonic possession."

"The halo is the key," she said grabbing the book to scan the picture closely.

"Yes," she said firmly, "and now he wants it back."

"What does this say?" Margo said pointing to a phrase under the picture, "qui habet clavem mortificat."

"He who holds the key brings death."
