This will be a quick Jaya fanfic, probably only 3 chapters. I do not own Ninjago. Enjoy!

They said when you lose someone, you feel nothing. Nya never believed it. How could you lose someone so close to you and not feel sad? Angry? Nya believed it was something said to help others not feel the pain you felt. But she was wrong.

She felt nothing. Not sadness, anger, grief, nor yearning or fear. She just felt nothing. The Water Ninja sat in her room, on a bed unslept in. She had not eaten or slept in days, but did not realize it. Grief did that to people.

Her brother, Kai, was the only one who would talk to her. No matter how far she pushed him away, he would be there, every night, just sitting with her, and talking. She rarely spoke back, but at least he was there. Unlike Jay. Her beautiful, funny, passionate Jay. Jay was gone.

Jay was dead.

Another sob escaped Nya's lips as she looked down at the wrinkled photo in her hands. Her and Jay, on one of their dates. He was so happy, so alive… was it really that long ago? Time had no meaning now, but she had to know.

A friendly knock was heard, and Nya knew that no matter how much she screamed for him to go away, Kai would come in. Nya guessed it was that time of day once again. Kai was likely preparing himself for silence. But, now, she wanted some answers, and would finally start talking. She did not want to, but she had to.

" Hey, Sis, how are you feeling?" The Fire Ninja asked, sitting beside her on the bed, wrapping his arm around his little sister. Nya leaned into him, burying her head into his shoulder. Kai was shocked. She never interacted like this anymore. But, he was not complaining.

The two sat in silence for a little while, Kai rubbing her back as soft sobs left the Water Ninja. Finally, when she calmed down, Nya looked to the ground.

"Kai...how long has it been? Since, you know…" Kai sighed, also tuning his eyes to the ground.

" It's been a month, Nya. Everyone else has moved on, it's about time you did, too. Even Cole had gotten out of his room, and we both know that it hit him real hard, too." Nya nodded. She knew Jay and Cole were close. The scene was so fresh in her mind, Cole's screams paired with her own as Jay was hit. It was just a bunch of Snakes, yet they lost Jay to them! What good of Ninja were they if they couldn't save one of their own from a bunch of reptiles?

" Listen, Jay would want you to be happy, to move on. Can you do that, for him? Nya?" Nya turned to her brother, outraged by the comment.

"Move on? MOVE ON? How can I move on when there isn't a body? Nothing to bury? I couldn't even say one last goodbye, Kai! And you expect me to move on? How could you say that?!" There. Now Nya could feel the hot rage that filled her, and the sadness paired with it. It came too fast, tears began running down her cheeks, drowning her sorrow.

" I...I really miss him…" Kai pulled her into a big hug.

" Me too, Nya, me too…"

It was a week later, a lightning storm brewing in the distance. Nya sat in the living room, watching it get closer. She imagined Jay sitting beside her, talking about how, when he was within a storm like that, he felt unstoppable. Like nothing was impossible. Nya would give anything to feel like that.

She had been doing better ever since her conversation with Kai, she managed to get some food into her and hang out with the others. She even talked to Cole, who had begun to make more jokes, in honor of the Blue Ninja, and was smiling a lot more. Blueprints were underway to make a statue for him. Nya believed Jay would prefer a spaceship named after him, though. He was never a fan of Zane's statue, though, it could have been because it reminded him of Zane's death. The Nindroid, though, eventually came back. Jay could not.

Then, Nya felt something. Something familiar. She reflected back to what Sensei had said when Jay had died. The lightning that flashes in the sky will remind us. But, this didn't just feel like a reminder, it felt like he was here. Was that even possible?

Without knowing, Nya found herself going outside, right into the storm, which had begun to pour huge drops of rain. She walked away from the house, and stood in the yard, head held up. She could feel him, and found that there was not only rain falling down her cheeks, but also tears. The lightning struck the ground ahead of her, but she was not scared.

"Jay! Jay, are you here?" Nya screamed, hoping for a response, knowing it may never come. She waited. No response. She sighed, but still remained where she was. He was here, she could feel it. Or was she just delusional?

The rain soaked through her clothes, making her shiver. Nya reached her hand towards the sky, calling the rain, but also the lightning. The water listened, but not the white light that periodically came down. It would only listen to the Ninja of Lightning, and no one else.

" It's not very healthy standing out in the rain." A voice said, making Nya jump. She looked around, searching for the source of the voice.

" You are cute when you have a cold, but I would prefer you were as healthy as possible." It said again. Nya noticed that the voice sounded electric, but familiar. It sounded like…

"Jay."

An electric laugh rose above the thunder. " That's my name." Nya gasped, and tried to walk towards him, towards her Jay, but found the voice came from all around her.

"Where are you?" Nya asked, searching for her dead boyfriend who may actually be alive.

The laugh came again. " I'm in the sky, Nya. But I guess I can try..."

" Try what?" As soon as the Water Ninja had answered this question, multiple lighting bolts struck the round ahead of her, forming a figure of lighting. It looked like a man, but instead of flesh, it was made of lightning. Sometimes, when the lightning flickered, you could see right through it. It's power lit up the darkness, but it seemed unstable. Like it was not solid matter. It appeared that Jay was made of lightning. How was this possible? Was this actually Jay? Nya concluded that it was. The Water Ninja would recognise her love anywhere.

He was crouched on the ground, head held in its hands. He looked up, and Nya saw the unmistakable eyes of Jay Walker, the Lighting Ninja. It really was him. She took a step towards him, but he flinched, so she stopped.

"Hey...it's okay. We're going to figure this out. Do you remember what had happened?"

Jay suddenly got up and stumbled away from Nya.

"No...please...I don't want to hurt you…" His voice still carried the electrical tone to it, but was unmistakingly Jay's voice.

"Jay…" Nya reached for him, but as soon as she was close to him, a lighting bolt hit where he stood. Nya closed her eyes to the brightness, but when she opened them, Jay was gone.

She began to search for him, calling his name, but got no response or trace of the Lightning Ninja, who was definitely made of his element. The only thing that stayed, proving that this interaction had happened, was a scorch mark where he stood.

If that was Jay, which it was, it meant he was alive, which means they could get him back. Nya ran into the house to tell her teammates the great news.

That was chapter one. I hope you guys liked it, to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of this story. If you did like it, a review would be great. I plan on keeping this story going, but the updates may be slow depending on how many people like it. Thanks for reading.

Stay tuned and review!
