Chapter 2! Thanks to Jaell and Seleine16 for reviewing, it was really nice to hear that you guys love my story!
I think this would be set around… maybe season 9? It's set before the Yin Yang promise in season 10. That's all I know XD.
Now, without further ado…
(edit: just some grammar and spelling)
"Guys! Guys! It's Jay! He's alive!" Nya shouted as she burst into the game room where her teammates were playing video games.
"Wait, he is?!" Cole said, jumping up from his seat. Kai groaned softly as Cole ran to Nya, grabbed her shoulders, and asked a million questions.
" How is he? Is he alright? Where is he? NYA TELL ME!"
"Cole! I saw him! He's made of lightning but it's him! He's alive! I went outside in the lightning storm because I felt him, and he was there!" Nya told him, excitement written all over her face. Cole's eyes widened and his smile grew bigger.
"Did he talk to you, Nya? Or did you ー"
"Woah, can we slow down a bit?" Lloyd said, standing up. " Nya, have you eaten recently? Or gotten a decent amount of sleep?"
"Are you calling me a liar?" Nya spat out, " I know what I saw, Lloyd, it was him!"
Lloyd put his hands up in defence. " I'm not saying you didn't see him, but it could have been a delusion."
"Lloyd is right." Zane added, " You must be seeing things. The wound that Jay died from was not one that he could not survive from. He also faded away, the way any elementalist would when they died. It's more likely that you are delusional. I'm sorry, but he's gone."
Nya's hands turned into fists. She knew what she saw. She would just have to prove it to the others. She looked over at Cole, whose eyes were cast on the ground. The Water Ninja could tell he was holding back tears.
"Thanks for giving Cole hope, Nya!" Kai said angrily, ushering Cole to his room.
"I'm not lying, Cole, Kai, I saw him! Why won't you believe me!?"
"Just because you haven't moved on, doesn't mean you have to give us hope. Jay's dead. We all saw it happen. Zane has it in his memory database. Jay knew he was dying, to, and wanted us to stay strong. Remember his final words?" Kai said, turning back toward his sister.
Nya nodded, how could she forget? But, she knew Jay was alive, and was going to prove it. She saw everyone looking at her, they likely saw her expression turn from anger to determination.
"He's alive, and I'm going to prove it, whether you like it or not!" She yelled before storming out of the room, in search of Sensei. He would know what to do.
She found him in his room. Hopefully he was not busy, because Nya walked in without knocking. Sensei Wu yelped, nearly dropping his tea, before steadying himself to look at his disturbed student.
"What is it, Nya?"
" Jay's alive, and no one believes me. I need something that will prove to them that I saw him." Nya's eyes closed, hoping that Sensei Wu believed her. "Do you believe me?"
Sensei stroked his long beard. " I felt him, too, during the storm. He is alive, Nya, and I may have something that can help." Wu got up and made his way to the other end of his quarters. " I did not tell the others because I want to be sure Jay is alive before giving hope."
" Do you have any idea what happened to him?" Nya said, following Sensei across the room.
"Yes, but I will use the Memory Tea to confirm my suspicion. It will allow me to see exactly what occurred when he died. The only catch is, I was not there. Someone else who was there must drink also the tea, so we will both be able to see what happened."
"But...but...no one else thinks he is alive. Are you saying you want me to watch my boyfriend die all over again?" Sensei Wu sighed. He knew this would be an issue. But, it was the only way.
"If we want to find out how Jay is the way he is now, we must see into your memories. I will be here the whole time, there is nothing to fear." Nya took a deep breath.
"Ok, let's do this."
Once the tea was ready, Wu poured two cups, and the two drank it together.
In the memory…
"Nya, on your left!" Kai shouted, warning his sister of a snake coming up beside her. Nya took it down with ease.
Even though the Snakes have been living underground under the leadership of Skales, some did not want to have peace. Small attacks have been staged, but the Ninja took them down easily. Well, until recently.
The Ninja had no clue what was going on underground, but they figured the few rebels had gained a lot more followers, now their numbers were getting larger and larger by the day, it seemed.
But, what harm could a couple of Snakes do?
"Oops, sorry, too shocking for you?" Jay laughed as he shocked a group that had come up behind him.
More were headed his way, but before Nya could warn him, Jay had seen them and let lightning fly from his fingertips, and funny words from his mouth.
"Too bad for you, I remembered to pay for my electric bills! Ha ha!" Nya smiled at her boyfriend's humour.
Finally, the Snakes had enough, and retreated. Nya looked at her teammates. Everyone seemed tired, but glad it was over. Kai extinguished the flame that formed in his hand, and walked over to Nya, touching her suit. His sister backed away at the touch, but Kai held fast.
"Easy, it looks like our only problem is a tear in your suit." Nya looked at where Kai had inspected, and saw a small rip. She shrugged.
"It's no big deal."
"JAY!" Cole suddenly yelled, panic in his features. She turned to the Black Ninja, who was running over to Jay. Nya gasped when she saw the arrow in her boyfriend's torso. They must've shot it when they retreated... Nya thought, running to her boyfriend's side. Jay looked at it, confused. When he saw all of his team running towards him, he laughed.
"I...I guess they learned how to use a bow…smart Snakes..." He said right before falling into Cole's arms, the ninja who was closest to him. Cole broke the arrow, carefully, so Jay could lay on the ground.
"What should we do, Zane? Tell me what to do!" Cole yelled. He turned towards the Blue Ninja as Zane kneeled at his side. "Hang on there, buddy. It's gonna be okay. Just keep focusing on me, focus on me." Jay was fading fast.
"Nya…" Jay weakly said, and she walked over from where she stood. She didn't want to see what was going to happen, but he needed her.
"I'm here….Jay…" She held on his hand firmly, and looked over at the Nindroid. Zane shook his head sadly.
"Jay...stay with us, please!" His eyes began to close, but he forced them open. Nya saw that his blue eyes were glowing.
"I...I belong up there….but you guys belong down here….you...you have to stay together...stay strong..." He said softly, before his body began fading with electricity.
Kai pulled Cole and Nya away roughly.
"No, Kai, let me be with him! What's going on?!" With a flash of light, a streak of lightning shot to the sky. Jay was no longer on the ground.
" No! Jay!" Cole screamed, running to where Jay's body was, and fell, sobbing.
Zane put a comforting hand on the Black Ninja's shoulder.
"What happened, Zane?" Kai asked as he held Nya, who clung to him, crying. "Shh...it's okay...it's okay…" He said to his sister.
"Sensei Wu said that when elementalists die, they fade. There is never a body. I believe that Jay is gone. The injury was quite severe, the arrow nicked his heart. "
" No… I failed him." Lloyd said, kneeling beside Cole.
Nya continued to sob into Kai's shoulder. I didn't even say that I loved him…
End of memory…
Nya gasped as she woke up in the real world, a teapot sat in front of her , a cup beside her. Sensei Wu sat across from her, and he looked like he felt the same way Nya did. He looked over at her, recognition in his eyes. He stood up.
"I know what happened to him."
Nya sniffled, the memory still fresh in her mind. " What?"
"Zane had told me Jay had faded, which is the way elementalists die. Their body just...goes away. But, Jay did not fade, he turned into a bolt of lightning. He turned into his element. He became raw power, a figure of lightning. Somehow, before he died, he managed to gather the strength he needed to become lightning, losing his physical form." Sensei chuckled with happiness.
"It also means that when we get him back to his physical form, all of his wounds will be gone."
"So...we can get him back! And he will be healed?" Nya said, jumping to her feet in excitement. " But...did he mean to do it, or did he do it subconsciously?"
Sensei Wu shook his head. " I don't know. I say we ask him ourselves."
Now Nya was super happy, a huge smile on her face.
" Tonight, meet me outside. We will go to the location Jay nicknamed Lightning City, where we found the Nunchucks of Lightning. That area has the most lightning strikes in all of Ninjago. He will likely be there."
Nya nodded, and bolted to her room. She did not even question how they were going to get him back into his physical form, but they were. They had to. Everyone may have called her delusional, or crazy, but when Jay walked into their home…
No. This was not about proving that she was right. It was about saving her boyfriend. It was about a happy ending.
I'm coming, Jay. I'm coming.
I plan on getting this fanfic done by the end of the week. But, we'll see. I'm thinking it may go a bit longer than expected…
Thanks for reading, stay tuned and review!
