Author's Note: Okay, I'm pretty sure this'll be the last chapter, but we'll see what happens.

Peggy woke up to the feeling that someone was watching her. Her eyes felt gummy and her body was stiff, and when she tried to sit up she found herself connected to two different IVs, one on each arm.

"Ah, Peg." A face popped into her line of sight and Peggy squinted until the image cleared up.

"Stark?" she muttered, disoriented. What was Howard Stark doing so near her bed? Was she in the hospital?

But, no, this was her bed. She recognized the duvet and the feel of the pillows underneath her head. "What happened?" she asked blearily.

"Wellll..." Howard began, plopping himself onto the edge of her bed with a vigor Peggy couldn't even imagine feeling. "Agent Arm-"

"Arming," Peggy correct automatically.

"Potato potahto," Howard shrugged. "Agent Arming found you stumbling along an empty desert road after having searched for you and Sousa all night. You collapsed and he brought you to me -smart fellow. By the time you got here you were raving about a Mojave Rattler and I was able to glean what had happened pretty quickly."

"And Daniel?" Peggy pressed. "You found him?"

"You were pretty out of it, but you managed to give Agent Arming a general idea of where he was," Howard confirmed. "He sent a team out and scooped him up. He was suffering from some mild heatstroke- both of you were severely dehydrated- but I'm pretty sure he woke up about an hour ago. You've been out for almost a full eight hours while we've been pumping you with some new blood."

Peggy's gaze trailed to the IV on her left arm, and the hanging sack it lead to. There was about a quarter bag of blood still inside, slowly trailing into her. The other IV, she assumed, was filled with fluids or maybe anti-venom.

"Thank you, Howard," she said in a low voice, looking at him seriously. "Now, if I am able, I would like to go see Agent Sousa."

"I had a feeling you'd say that," Howard replied with a smirk. He jumped off the bed and pushed a wheelchair into view, gesturing to it with his usual grandiose manner. "So I took the liberty of bringing this girl up for that very purpose."

"Thank you," Peggy repeated. She began to tug out her IVs, and stopped to investigate her hand. It was wrapped in bandages from the roots of her fingers to nearly her elbow, and she looked hesitantly up at Howard. "You won't have to amputate, will you?"

"No," Howard assured her. "We would have had to do that awhile ago, to stop the spread of the poison." He snorted. "You and Sousa would have made a right pair- one of you missing a leg, one of you missing an arm."

Peggy pursed her lips, displeased, and let him help her into the wheelchair.

Daniel was staying in the guest room at the end of the hall, and Howard was quick to wheel Peggy in to see him.

"Peg-" Daniel sat up with a sharp intake of breath. "Thank God."

He started pulling out his own IV and swinging his legs over the side of the bed, but Peggy waved at him to stay down. Howard wheeled her closer to the bed and made his exit, smirking a little too widely for Peggy's taste.

Peggy reached over and took Daniel's hand, giving it a squeeze. His face was rosy with sunburn and it made his eyes look paler than usual. "How are you?" she asked him seriously. "Was I gone terribly long before they found you?"

"Honestly, I don't know," Daniel admitted. "You left, the sun came up... I passed out pretty soon after that."

Peggy nodded, her eyebrows furrowed with concern.

"But I'm alright," Daniel assured her. "And you are, too, I hope...?"

"Yes," Peggy confirmed. She let out a breath and swallowed past the remaining scratchiness in her throat. She would be needing a definite tea fix after this. "If Howard didn't inadvertently poison me further with his cure, that is."

"Hey!" Howard cried from the hallway.

Peggy grinned. "I knew he was listening," she said, smirking over at the door as the two of them heard Howard's reluctant footsteps fading down the hallway.

Daniel sighed and relaxed back against his pillows, watching Peggy with a small smile on his face. She looked back at him with a considerably more sober expression. "I'm so sorry I left you," she murmured. "I swear to you Daniel, I never-"

"It's alright, Peg," Daniel interrupted. He brought up their intertwined fingers and pressed a soft kiss to the back of her hand. "I'm glad you did. And it all turned out okay, see? You're all healed up, Howard is concocting some special aloe for our sunburns... the SSR even managed to nab Dr. Coppor right as he was leaving the desert. He tried to convince them we were dead, but no one believed him. So, when it comes down to it... everything's alright."

Peggy nodded.

"Now, I think that you and I need to take the rest of the week off," Daniel decided. Peggy raised her eyebrow. "Is that so?"

"That is so." He leaned forward with a teasing smile and pecked her on the lips. "Chief's orders, Agent Carter. Books, tea, late mornings, cuddling..." He sent a glare over at the corner, where his prosthetic sat propped against the dresser. "And no wearing that thing until the inflammation on my leg from all that blasted sand goes down."

Peggy cringed at the thought of sand. "Maybe our next vacation shouldn't be to a beach," she said with a wry smile.

Daniel ducked his head and laughed. "That right there," he said, "is a very good idea."
