It was nearly midnight in the small town of Surrey, the full moon covered the town in a pleasant silvery glow. Stars happily sparked around the silver moon. It was a beautiful night, the most impressive it has seen in a while.

In one of the houses that were tinged silver, laid a boy in his bed staring up at the ceiling. Sadness plagued his gorgeous emerald orbs. Today was his birthday; his eleventh birthday to be exact. Or it was at least. Not that it felt like it. Not a gift or a simple "happy birthday" was offered to him on what he knew was an important day normally. This birthday, or lack thereof, was significantly better than his previous ones.

Harry Potter turned his head and glanced at the electric clock that sat on the nightstand. In burning crimson, it displayed the numbers:

11:58

Seeing the time, he returned his head back to its place on his pillow. He closed his eyes. It was late. Very late. If his aunt and uncle knew he was still awake at this hour, there would be hell to pay. He hated them. They were cruel to him for as long as he could remember. But it all changed after the previous school year ended. They instantly did a 180; gave him his own bedroom, bought him clothes for the first time in his life, and also feed him properly for once. Granted, the last one was a stretch as he still had to cook that food for them, his cousin, and now himself. Still, he wouldn't look a gift horse in its mouth.

Especially now that he didn't look like a skeleton with skin when he went out. Clothes that fit him instead of the baggy hand-me-downs forced upon him.

"Happy birthday." He mumbled to himself. While it wasn't much, he knew he had survived yet another year in the hellhole he calls home. Only a couple more years of school and he'd be rid of his relatives. His thoughts led him back to the letter he received a week ago, from one Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A gag letter if he's ever seen one. Witches? Wizards? Bah! Such things only exist in the games his cousin plays.

Is what he would if some freakish things hadn't happened to him in the past. A part of him did believe that damned letter. It would allow him a path he had never imagined for himself before. The other part of him thought he was crazy and a freak like his relatives had claimed for many years. Disappearing from the playground and suddenly reappearing 30 feet up on the building of his school.

Maybe he was insane...?

He didn't know. He didn't think so... Opening his eyes, he jerked and banged his head on the headboard of his bed. He had hit it hard. He knew the noise had echoed throughout the entire house. He shut his eyes tightly, momentarily forgetting what had caused him to make that noise. He waited. And waited. His uncle was a light sleeper, Harry stayed silent he waited to hear some stomping. Minutes passed with only the thumping of his heart in his ears.

He released a relieved breath. Recalling what he saw, he opened his eyes and was greeted by a translucent panel of light. It was too bright at first, but his eyes finally adjusted to its brightness.

Welcome, Gamer!

Would you like to start a New Game?

Yes/No?

Harry stared at the screen in surprise. Maybe he was going insane! What was a Gamer? He's never heard of such a thing. And what was this about starting a new game? If he chose yes, would he die? What would happen if he chose no? He felt slightly scared, his life was becoming somewhat normal, it wouldn't surprise him if this somehow killed him. From how his short life has gone, he doesn't have an ounce of luck going for him.

Hesitantly, he reached his hand forward and tapped yes. The 'screen' dissolved, only to be replaced with another along with an audible ping. He gently laid his head against the wooden headboard. His hand was shaking. Harry honestly believed that he was going to die after he tapped the screen. It proved him wrong while also shaving off at least a year from his life span.

Description: Harry James Potter is the only son of James Potter and Lily Potter nee Evans. He was left at his mother's sister's place at the tender age of 1 and has since lived with his aunt and uncle, Petunia and Vernon Dursley, and his cousin, Dudley Dursley. He resents them for how they treated him when he was younger and can't wait to leave. He knows his parents are still alive due to overhearing such from his uncle one night. He doesn't understand why they would leave their only child and not take care of him.

He skimmed over his 'stats' as Dudley would call them. They were all abysmal besides his WIS, INT, and LUC. He had one small critique for the stats part, if it weren't for spying on his cousin playing games, he wouldn't have a clue as to what most of them meant. Sure, some of them are obvious to him such as LUC, but a simple description would be-

Information was transferred to his consciousness as to what each stat abbreviation meant and about the Gamer ability itself. It felt weird... He didn't really... He shook his head. He got exactly what he wanted, he would have to be more careful about his phrasing when thinking directly and indirectly to the ability.

And by god, did he have luck! Did he always have 26 LUC points? Or did it just increase with his acquisition of the Gamer? Does it matter if it did? He supposes it doesn't. But still, it would be interesting to know how much luck he had before and how much it influenced life from birth.

And why was his race have question marks? Is it because he didn't know what he was or was it because the Gamer didn't know what he was? From how his description is phrased, he would have to assume it was due to his lack of knowledge. He knew he wasn't Human simply based on it not saying so.

You have gained 1 INT for your logical reasoning!

"Ahh" Harry let an unintelligible noise escape from his mouth. He had earned a stat point that easily? He was conflicted between disappointment and sheer satisfaction. But eventually settled on satisfaction, because improving his stats would be an absolute cakewalk if it was always this easy.

After a few minutes of pondering, be continued exploring his new ability. His newfound life.

{Skills}

[Gamer's Mind - Passive - Lvl: Max]

(Grants the player a calm state of mind to think logically. Grants the player complete immunity to mind related attacks on their person.)

[Gamer's Body - Passive - Lvl: Max]

(Allows the player to live life like a video game character. All personal needs are supplemented by the system.)

[Observation - Active]

(Observe the world around you and learn everything about it. Has some limitations.)

[Skill Creation - Passive - Lvl: Max]

(The ability to create any skill, as long as the prerequisites are met.)

While not as detailed as he would like, he believed he got the gist of each of his skills. Each skill is god-like to his young mind. The Skill Creation was the most intriguing to him. He wondered what the prerequisites would be? Surely each skill he would want to create needed different variables for its creation. He'd have to try it out later once he finished. For now, he decided to open his Inventory.

"Inventory."

{Inventory}

"Hmm." Harry shrugged. He wasn't surprised to find it empty. Something else he would have to try out.

You have Leveled up!

Once again he was proven wrong. He somehow knew the 2 Skill books were placed into his Inventory and chalked it up to the system for the feeling. He had also leveled up, not even an hour after receiving the Gamer. He would need to get to sleep if he was to get his chores done or be punished. Something he wasn't keen on happening. Recalling something, he moved to the side of his bed and reached towards the nightstand. The letter now in his hands.

Maybe this wasn't a gag letter. Maybe this letter had something to do with his unknown Race. After all, he wasn't Human, so maybe he was a Witch? Or rather a Wizard in his case? Such terms left a bad taste in his mouth. He much preferred the modern terms: Sorcerer and Sorceress or just Mage.

Yesss, if this was true, he was a Sorcerer. A wielder of Magic that Humans often dreamed about. Along with him being a Gamer, which would complement the other perfectly. His life from this day forward would be but a game for him to control. A morbid thought occurred to him. What would happen if he died? Would he stay dead? Again something he wasn't keen on happening any time soon...

Turning his attention back to his lap, he lifted the flap and pulled out two pieces of parchment. One was his acceptance letter while the other was an itinerary for what he would need for his first year at this supposed Magic School.

Official Acceptance Letter to Hogwarts

"So it's true.." Harry mumbled. "I'm a Wizard." He felt like laughing but knew that could only end badly. It seemed he got his Escape-From-The-Dursleys ticket as his birthday gift. He was jittery for only a split second before he felt his body calm. It seemed Gamer's Mind was already at it. He couldn't allow it to do all the work while he slacked. Silently rummaging around for a pen, he got to writing his return correspondence. He wouldn't let this opportunity pass.

A lonely existence.

It was a compulsory quest so he just swiped it away without a second thought. When he was done he stood up and sealed the letter back into the envelope. How was supposed to have it delivered by an owl, but he didn't own one yet and he didn't know how to call for one. It had to be something reasonable. He walked to his window, unlocked it silently, and slide it open. He straddled the window frame and moved his head out into the fresh air. The moon sure was beautiful tonight, he thought.

He nibbled his bottom lip as he thought. He slid his tongue between him to lips to wet them. Then he whistled quite loudly, hopefully not too loud. He prayed to whichever deity would listen. After a minute, he was about to give up when an owl landed near him. It slowly moved closer to him.

"Hoo hoo!" The owl motioned its head towards the letter in Harry's hand. Understanding, Harry allowed the owl to place between its beak. "Thank you." He petted the owl. It preened at the attention before flying off.

Harry flopped on to his bed. He was tired, the last hour had taken a toll on him. A rollercoaster of feelings.

He twisted on his side and he reached for his quilt. Today was a good day, something he would never, ever forget. But tomorrow would be better, he would further explore the powers of the Gamer. Somehow he wanted to learn more about his Race, maybe his aunt could tell him something? Yeah, no! He had no interest in a beating from her walrus of a husband. Something to worry about tomorrow, he mused.

He was pleased with what he saw. Harry had leveled up twice in an hour. His stats were still low, but he could either improve them naturally or spend Skill Points to raise them. He drifted into Morpheus' realm, his breath steadied and his chest raised and lowered rhythmically.
