Hi humans…
Another one already?! Oh my goodness! I know I said I wouldn't update until someone asked but I was listening to a song called teeth by 5 seconds of summer and the bit about the heart made me think of Enoch and the bit about the burning made me think of Olive. And yes, he is one of my favourite characters just because he's so grumpy and it's funny to make him do funny stuff. Just a reminder, this is in the modern day, but still in the home. Still, review please, and Enjoy!
Singing:
It was another ridiculously hot day for the children when Enoch did something incredibly surprising and surprisingly incredible.
Everyone except Enoch was downstairs watching Hugh and Fiona playing a just dance duet, when a noise from upstairs mingled with Timber coming from the TV. Jake Turned the TV off and all 11 children ran up as quietly as possible to investigate. They found Enoch's door ajar and peeked inside to find the necromancer standing in the middle of his room with his eyes closed and earplugs in, listening to music and singing! Yes, Enoch O'Connor, the grumpiest human being on Earth, seemingly devoid to any emotion, was right now singing, dancing a bit, and his dolls were dancing on his desk too! He probably didn't notice this last bit.
The children decided to listen to him singing. He hadn't started yet.
'Some days, you're the only thing I know
Only thing that's burning when the nights grow cold
Can't look away, can't look away
Beg you to stay, beg you to stay, yeah'
Oh. My. Bird. He's good.
'Sometimes, you're a stranger in my head
Don't know if you love me or you want me dead
Push me away, push me away
Then beg me to stay, beg me to stay, yeah'
At this point Miss Peregrine appeared.
"Children, what are you- is Enoch…singing?" Miss P actually sounded excited
"Yes Miss P." Bronwyn said
"Well, be quiet. We don't want to disturb him." With this, Miss P went downstairs
'Call me in the morning to apologize
Every little lie gives me butterflies
Something in the way you're looking through my eyes
Don't know if I'm gonna make it out alive
Fight so dirty, but your love's so sweet
Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth
Late night devil, put your hands on me
And never, never, never ever let go
Fight so dirty, but your love's so sweet
Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth
Late night devil, put your hands on me
And never, never, never ever let go'
"Hmm, I wonder why he's singing a love song?" Asked Emma, looking pointedly at Olive
"I don't know. Maybe it's just a nice song." Olive replied, missing the hint. All the children sighed.
'Some days, you're the best thing in my life
Sometimes when I look at you, I see my wife
Then you turn into somebody I don't know
And you push me away, push me away, yeah
Call me in the morning to apologize
Every little lie gives me butterflies
Something in the way you're looking through my eyes
Don't know if I'm gonna make it out alive
Fight so dirty, but your love's so sweet
Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth
Late night devil, put your hands on me
And never, never, never ever let go
Fight so dirty, but your love's so sweet
Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth
Late night devil, put your hands on me
And never, never, never ever let go'
"How have we never heard him singing before?" asked Fiona in disbelief
'Blood on my shirt, rose in my hand
You're looking at me like you don't know who I am
Blood on my shirt, heart in my hand
Still beating'
"That's oddly accurate." muttered Horace
'Fight so dirty, but your love's so sweet
Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth
Late night devil, put your hands on me
And never, never, never ever let go
Fight so dirty, but your love's so sweet
Talk so pretty, but your heart got teeth
Late night devil, put your hands on me
And never, never, never ever let go'
At this, Enoch stopped singing with a satisfied smile. The children rushed downstairs so that they wouldn't be found out as Enoch went after them. Emma hurriedly turned Just Dance on again and Hugh and Fiona started dancing so that he would think they were there the whole time.
As Enoch came into the living room with a glass of water however, Jake had an idea. It was a mischievous idea, maybe, but also a very good one.
"Hey, Enoch?" he said, trying not to look suspicious
"Mm." Enoch replied from in the glass of water
"When were you going to tell us that you like singing?"
There was a cough and a splutter as a now very pink and slightly moist Enoch emerged from his glass of water, at coincidentally the same time Olive got the hint Emma was trying to drop earlier. The kids' laughter increased when Enoch and Olive made eye contact, and both went bright red.
