I do not own Nightwing or any other DC characters.
Ch 2 First Step of Becoming Something More
After staying a couple of days in the Manor, the Bullet wound healed, and I gave my thanks to Bruce and told him that I'm going back to Bludhaven. But I didn't go back to Bludhaven; instead, I went somewhere where I can begin the first step of my plan.
Cole City
I just got out of a small white van I had bought recently, and took out my binoculars and scouted my target. The Crawford Chemical Works. The same chemical factory that gave a certain someone stretchy powers. Nobody was there, except for a couple of guards here and there. Avoiding the guards was going to be easy for someone who had years of training from Batman. Still, one can never be too careful, so instead of taking my Nightwing costume to avoid certain people's attention, I wore something else instead. I decided to wear a black long sleeve shirt, black pants, black full-fingered gloves, and a black balaclava mask, black military boots, and a black cross bag. I put my binoculars back in the van and made my way towards the chemical factory. Thankfully the factory had no security cameras, which makes my job even easier. I climbed to the window on the second floor of the factory and opened the window, letting myself in. I found myself the chemical storage cold room, it's basically chemicals that are stored in fridges. I looked through the whole room and still could not find the compound I wanted. I then slowly opened the door of the storage room and continued searching for the chemical lab, after nearly half an hour, I found the chemical lab and found what I was looking for. It was at the end of the room, contained in a small glass container with a small faucet tap. As I approached the large glass container, I noticed a lot of signs like "Caution" or "Danger", you know the usual you find when you are near chemicals. I opened my cross bag and took out a large plastic bottle. I then opened the lid of the bottle, put it under the faucet tap, and then opened the faucet and watched as the red liquid poured into the bottle. Once the chemicals filled the bottle, I turned off the faucet and put the lid back on. I then exited the same way I entered and again the security there is a joke. I made it back to my van and drove away.
Bludhaven
I made it back to Dicks apartment, sorry "my" apartment. After closing the door, I slowly made my way into the living and jumped on my couch face first and let out a long sigh. I stayed like that for a couple of minutes before I looked at my cross bag on the coffee table. I got up from the sofa and pulled the cross bag towards myself. I took out the plastic bottle that contained the chemicals that gave Plastic Man his powers and placed it on the table. I got up from my seat and made my way towards my bedroom. I then made my way to my dresser and opened the last drawer and saw a metal suitcase. I pulled out the bag and placed it on my bed. I then opened it and was greeted with my own chemistry set. I scanned the whole set and found what I needed. A small syringe that looked like it came from a sci-fi show, but hey I'm in the DC universe now, everything here is sci-fi. I took out the pieces of the syringe and put it together. Then I pulled out a glass jar and brought them both to the living room. I opened the plastic bottle and poured all the chemicals inside the glass jar, and then I used the syringe to take some of the substances before closing the glass jar with a lid. I then placed the glass jar on top of my dresser in my bedroom and then walked back to the living room.
I know I didn't need to do that, but in case I lash out after injecting myself with the chemicals, I could break the glass jar, so it's best not to have it near me. The syringe was now on top of the coffee table, and I have been staring at it with both my hands on my chin for almost an hour. I was excited about the whole process when I got the chemicals from the chemical factory in Cole city, but now that I have it in front of me, I'm hesitating. I haven't thought this through, I mean what if my body rejects the chemicals and I turn into a pile of goo. No, I can't hesitate now, I have to use it. I NEED to use it. I woke up in the fu#*&^ DC universe, the same universe where everything is op, literally and who knows what will happen if I die, my soul could be taken to hell because a demon likes the taste of vigilantes, will I be reincarnated as a zombie Black lantern, or, or...
OK! OK! I am not thinking straight right now, but I am not going to sit here and stare at the syringe for another hour. So with a deep breath, I first used my belt I took from my dresser to tie my arm from the top of my elbow to get all the veins pumped up. Once I found the perfect vein, I brought the syringe and placed it there. Now I have to be 100% sure the chemicals that reach my bloodstream, because last time a mob boss's girlfriend was exposed to said chemicals without it getting in her blood, she uh developed a different kind of power and became a little bit crazy. I pulled the trigger and watched as the chemicals were being delivered inside my body. Once the serum was empty, I quickly put it back on top of the coffee table and waited.
…
Ok, nothing happened, why did nothing happen, did I do something wrong? God, I hope I didn't get the wrong type of chemicals and injected it in my bid-" AGH!"
I screamed as I felt my whole body was on fire. I tried to move despite all the pain, but my body refused to move, all my body did was just shaking. If anyone saw me, they would think I was having a seizure. I closed my eyes and tried to calm down, hoping the pain would pass, but it only got worse every second. I opened my eyes and saw as my whole body was melting. God is this what Plastic Man felt like when he was getting his powers. Dear God, make it stop! Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop. Make it stop.
Then my mind went blank as I passed out from the pain.
Next Morning
I slowly opened my eyes and found myself yet again on the floor. I hope this won't become a habit. I got up with a groan while rubbing my head, trying to recall what happened yesterday? I remembered going to Cole city, then entering a chemical factory to obtain an unknown chemical, then injecting myself with it, and after that, well, everything turned black. And of course the intense pain. If I remember correctly, Plastic Man didn't have the same reaction when he was in contact with the chemicals, sure his face was melting, or that was his powers, making it seem like it was melting, but he had a different reaction then me. Hmm, I got to study the chemicals further to see why, but right now, my mind is busy with something else at the moment.
The chemicals. Did it work? I mean, I seem to be in one piece, but I still had to be sure. I put my hand in front of me and concentrated on trying to make it bigger. My breath hitched as my hand slowly started to elongate. But because of my reaction, I lost focus, and my hand well appeared to have deflated, and it fell on the floor. Despite that, I still do not believe what I'm witnessing.
.Powers.
My joy died down as fast as it has begun. No time to lose focus, I have to see if I have powers similar to Plastic Man, or something else, even though the facts are in front of me, one can never be sure especially when you're in the DC universe.
Next Morning
Finally, I got the hang of it. For the whole night till the morning, I have done nothing but tested the limits of my newfound abilities. I could now not only stretch my hand, but several parts of my body, though not as long as Plastic Man, but long enough for me. I also found out something interesting about my powers. When I focused on stretching my arm, I tried injecting the syringe into it to see if it would penetrate my skin, but it didn't. I was thinking about what else my body can now withstand while shoving the syringe harder into my skin, that I lost my concentration. My arm reverted to its standard size, and the needle that I was roughly pushing entered into my arm, causing me to wince in pain, then immediately pulling it out and throwing it at the opposite side of the sofa. It seems that my body's destiny gets stronger as I focus on my powers and then reverts into its normal state as I lose focus. I don't know if Plastic Man had the same problem, yet it doesn't seem to concern me, but instead, it pleases me, since the next phase of my plan requires me to be able to inject myself again. I made a mental note to myself to continue training and finding out if my abilities have anything similar or different from Plastic Man's powers. Still, now I continue with the second step of my plan.
Slade Wilson.
Thankfully I don't need him for the second step of my project. What I do need is the serum that turned him into the terminator, Deathstroke. If I recall correctly, Slade volunteered for a super-soldier experiment that activated a dormant Meta-Gene, which evolved his brain, allowing him to his brain functions on a cellular scale. The short version, he got a healing factor with super strength and reflexes. The problem is, I don't know which military base did the experiment in, or where the serum is located, or the scientists that created the formula. Hopefully, there still might be a place that might have the serum.
Cadmus.
Yeah, yeah, I know. Going there is basically a suicide mission, especially if you are alone. Oh and that's not all, did I forgot to mention that I also need Slade's blood! Cuse without it, I won't be able to do shit!
Yeah! Another suicide mission. Hell, I should just change my name and call myself Suicide Man.
"Haaa, this is going to be a pain in my ass," I said. Knowing the problems, I'm going to face soon. Still, there is hope that I will be able to do this while still being one piece. Literally.
…
Well, guess I should make a will just in case.
Annnnd done. For those wondering why Slade's blood is an essential key for the serum, it will be explained in the next chapter. The title and summary of this story were changed because the old one wasn't that good, in case you guys were wondering.
