Anastacia has turned her back on the life she once knew, becoming instead a cutpurse for a duo of cunning pirates. After a fateful brush with the sister Ondore announced dead, however, she finds herself ultimately unraveling the past she swore to forget. Basch/OC. THIS IS AN OLD VERSION. 1. Update!

2020 edit: I've decided to remove the old chapters from this story after all. It just feels better having a new slate with no background or story beats (on the OC's part) to spoil you guys or any new readers.

Hi, everyone! So, I'm still alive. Somehow. It's been a long time, but my love for FFXII never really ended... I just didn't have the inspiration or the will to write. Real life things, you know? And other fandoms, I guess. But that's not the point of this update!

So. Few things!

*I'm rewriting Hide and Seek as well as The Games We Play, and will be posting them on an account I now share with friends I've made here. It's called thepartwhere here on FFN, and on A O 3, our account name is also thepartwhere.

*I'll be uploading the rewritten Hide and Seek on those accounts by next week! And the first chapter of The Games We Play, probably. On that account, it will be called These Roles We Play.

*I also like giving myself a hard time and am, uh, a thirsty writer so there's also going to be a third story: an AU version of These Roles We Play where Anastacia's love interest isn't Basch, but Vayne - in a universe where Anastacia chooses to fulfill her duty instead of running away, and attempts to protect the people of Rabanastre by marrying into House Solidor. Hilarity ensues. Just kidding. Her first name will also be Amiria now instead of Anastacia. It feels right, since while they are similar, they will be different characters thanks to characterization. A little more explanation in the next point.

*What changes can you expect other than my writing style (for good or ill, you be the judge)? I was much, much younger when I first wrote The Games We Play, so Anastacia, now Amiria, was...much more childish, I think. She'll still be a more cheerful counterpart to Ashelia, but she'll be more mature in many things, and much of her personality will be different. I hope you like her!

*Amiria and Ashe are aged up just a little in the rewrites - just add two years! So Amiria and Ashe will be 19 in Hide and Seek, and so will be 21 at the start of the game's main events, just like Ashe.

*I'll update this as well when I start posting things on thepartwhere (FFN) and thepartwhere (A O 3).
