First fanfic. Hopefully it's not too bad. I know that Thalia was a LOT older than Percy before she got turned into a tree, but for out purposes, they're the same age. And if some things happen that don't make sense, or don't go by the books, then just remember that this is FanFiction, and it's magical (cue jazz hands). I don't own any any characters, Uncle Rick does. With no further ado, enjoy.

Thalia crept in through the door of a shoddy broken down trailer, careful not to make a noise. If she was lucky, her mother would be knocked out on the couch, and if she was unlucky, then… well, she didn't know what would happen. Her mom had been really unpredictable the past few days. Quickly the 8 year old girl dashed to the room she used to share with Ja- Stop it Thalia! You're just making it worse! But even her best efforts couldn't stop an ugly sob from tearing itself out of her throat at the thought of her little brother. It had been 3 years but she still imagined his electric blue eyes looking at a stapler curiously before deciding it would make a wonderful snack. Thalia let out a strained laugh at the memory before she dissolved into a shaky tears trying to be held back.

(Beryl POV for a little)

Unfortunately, Beryl Grace had been awoken to the sound of sobs and was extremely irritated at her daughter. Beryl opened Thalia's door to find her crying her puny little heart out. "Stop crying you little brat, you woke me up!" Beryl snarled at her daughter. When Thalia didn't respond, Beryl asked, "What do you want other than your brother?" Her face showed her clear disdain of the topic but she just wanted Talia or whatever her name was to shut up. In response Talia slammed the door in her face. She hated this. It was all Zeus' fault! She had to live in her life in a stupid trailer just because Zeus wouldn't take them to Olympus! He is so SELFISH! With those thoughts swirling in her mind, Beryl took a swig from the bottle on the couch before promptly collapsing.

(Thalia POV again)

Thalia was scared. She got off easy this time, but ever since that picnic her mom had been worse. Drinking more than ever she was mean. Really mean. Suddenly a thought occurred to Thalia, why am I staying here? It wasn't like she needed her mom's 'support' anyway. The only thing keeping her here before was Jason and now he was gone. Based on this realization Thalia took a backpack, shoved in some clothes, a small pillow, and a blanket, and elected to take her chances to the kitchen. She knew that's where her mom kept her money. Thalia swiftly entered the kitchen and found the jar she was looking for. Upon finding the money, she stumbled across a knife, and decided to keep that too. Finally, she fit a few cups of ramen noodles into her backpack before going back into her room, only to exit from the window. As soon as she was out of that stupid trailer, she ran. She ran past the park and she ran past her school, and she found herself at the train station. With the thought 'anything is better than here' Thalia Grace found herself on a train going to New York.
