Altered Code Xana Episode 31: I'm On The Outside

Please read my episodes, 53-119 plus the OVA of Code Lyoko to know what is going on. Oh and Code Xana the Movie and Episode 1-30
Also, this is because as I re read the series I came up with completely new ideas. Go a different direction/drama/character arcs with the group. To do these faster all Lyoko will be "They go, go to Tower, fight, Sanne barely makes it" as I want to focus on the story and drama. Stupid idea? Yes. But I have too many ideas!
Krieger is walking from the gym back to the dorm building. He had just gotten done with working out, alone, since Sanne was busy with the Super Computer and he didn't want to be near Skitz.
He gets to his dorm room and changes. "Ark must be busy with Mira." He leaves the room and goes back outside.
Krieger sighs. "This sucks, I'm always alone when Xana isn't attacking." Krieger walks towards the woods and after a few meters sits down with his back to a tree. "Well, I guess its better to be alone then to be with the others when Xana attacks." He closes his eyes and thinks about a life without Xana. Maybe, maybe Sanne would go out with him, maybe not. Maybe she would still see him as "just Krieger" and nothing else. Ark would probably still be with Mira or some other girl while Skitz would probably be... He didn't know.
Maybe without Xana he would have found something else to do with his time. He hears foot steps and opens his eyes to see Skitz. "Really?"
"Hi Krieger." Skitz continues walking over to him then stops. "Is it ok if I sit down next to you?" Krieger wants to tell her no but instead motions to the ground next to him. She sits down. "So what's going on with Krieger today?"
"Nothing. Just got done with working out and figured I'd take a walk." Krieger looks over at Skitz. "Then you showed up."
"Sitting under a tree seems a funny way to walk." She looks back at him and smiles.
"I, well, I decided not to take a walk. What about you? What are you doing out here?"
"I was looking for you." She smiles at Krieger. "I won some tickets to a Jet Boy Blue concert and was looking for someone to go with."
"Well, I, uh…" Krieger rubs the back of his neck nervously. "Skitz, I said I wanted to stop the plan so you don't have to hang out with me."
She smiles. "I have to go with someone and Ark is always busy with you know who and Sanne would say no. She doesn't like their style."
"Well, what about someone else? A concert would make a great first date."
"Really? And have them dragged into the bullshit we put up with like Mira? I'd rather go with a friend than someone else."
"I, well, okay."
"I'm so glad you said yes. I did not want to try and get Ark to go. He says he's keeping his grades up but he already has two distractions I don't need to give him another."
"Skitz, well, Ark is your brother so I get why you're protective but you don't need to be."
"Yes I do. He gets easily distracted." She leans against the tree. "If you want I could stay here and keep you company."
"I, sure, ok."
They sit in silence for a bit when Skitz coughs. "You okay?"
"Yeah, just sorry the plan didn't work. I know how much you like her."
"Well, she doesn't like me like that. Maybe I should stop. Sanne is a good friend. She's putting herself through hell trying to stop Xana."
"And free Dante. I get she sees her mom in him but it totally isn't the same."
"No, it isn't." He hand clenches into a fist.
Skitz sees it and places her hand on his fist. "Calm down, she says she doesn't like him like that either." His hand relaxes. "You know, maybe she just isn't ready for anything like that. She does have the weight of the world on her shoulders. Once we beat Xana maybe she'll see the awesome, good looking, guy you are and beg you to date her."
Krieger's only response is to smile.
"You should do that more often."
"What?"
"Smile. You look better when you're smiling." Skitz and Krieger continue to talk for awhile as Xana plans his next attack. He is thinking of just attacking physically but watching Krieger with Skitz.
"Sanne?" Krieger calls Sanne. "Um, could you come to my room? I really need to talk to you."
"I'm busy can't you do it over the phone?"
"No, I, I can't. Just please come over here."
"Alright give me a minute to save things then get out of here." Sanne closes some programs she was looking at trying to create a new one from them. She gets on the elevator, takes it up, and leaves the Factory.
A few minutes later Sanne knocks on the door to Krieger's and Ark's dorm room and the door opens. "Xa…" Xana grabs Sanne and pulls her into the room.
"I have a surprise for you." Xana floats in the air with an arm wrapped around Sanne's waist and the other over her mouth to keep her from yelling. He floats through the wall with her like a ghost and carries her out towards the woods. Sanne struggles but Xana is too strong.
When they get to the woods Xana shows Sanne what was going on. Krieger and Skitz are laughing, talking, and being relaxed. "If you joined me you would have the power to get back at him. To get revenge for going with another girl when he is yours." Xana takes his hand off of Sanne's mouth.
"Why would that upset me? I already know they're dating and he'll hopefully stop wasting his time waiting for me to come around." The way Sanne says the last part confuses Xana.
"But, you two, I, did I miss something?" Xana, like most of Kadic Academy, had connected Krieger and Sanne as boyfriend and girlfriend.
"Obviously." Sanne bites Xana on the arm and he drops her several meters to the ground below. The noise gets Krieger's attention and he hears a beeping noise.
"Super Scan, Sanne's coming this way." He stands up quickly as does Skitz. "What do you think she is doing?"
"No idea." Skitz gets her phone out and sees no missed calls.
"Sanne?"
"Sanne!" Skitz walks towards the beeping noise.
"Sanne!" Krieger starts to worry. "Sanne?" He says it a little louder this time as he gets closer to the beeping noise. "Sanne!" He sees her lying on the ground unconscious.
"And I, the one and only Lord of Lyoko, Xana." Krieger looks up and sees Xana. "Now tell me what is it that I missed?" Krieger is confused and doesn't answer Xana's question.
Instead he goes over to Sanne to check on her. "Sanne, wake up, come on Sanne." He sees she is still breathing. "Xana what did you do to her?"
"I wanted her to see you cheating on her but she does not seem to care." Xana is still confused as to what was going on. With Dante's memories and his limited watching he could have sworn these two teens were together.
"I can't cheat on her we're not dating." Krieger looks back at Xana. "What did you do to her? Why won't she wake up?"
"I merely dropped her after she bit me. I may have been a few meters higher when I did though." Xana laughs at Krieger's pained look. "What is this? I do not understand how you can care so much for someone, how much she cares for you, if you are not like your parents."
"We aren't our parents!" Krieger looks around and sees a stick. He picks it up and throws it at Xana. "We're friends so of course we care for each other. But that's something you wouldn't understand."
"Friends, yes, I would not understand something that makes no sense to begin with." Xana charges his hands. "If you are a good friend of Sanne you would gladly take the pain for her." Xana fires a bolt of energy at Sanne and Krieger jumps in front of it taking the hit. "Yes, but what about this one?" Xana fires another bolt of energy at Sanne and Krieger can not get in front of it this time. When the bolt of energy hits Sanne the pain wakes her up.
"Ouch, what the heck was that?" She reaches to her stomach and pulls back when the touch causes more pain. She has a burn across her stomach through her shirt. She looks around and sees Xana and Krieger. "Krieger, distract him, I need to get to the Factory."
"Ok, be careful Sanne." Sorry, no, I'm not. Xana said she didn't care, she doesn't like me like that. Skitz's plan didn't work. "Xana you have to pick on a little girl? How weak is that?"
"Weak? Is this weak?" Xana blasts the ground around Krieger and lifts the chunk of ground into the air.
"Meh, it's a start." Krieger has to keep Xana's attention while Sanne gets away with help from Skitz. "But I bet the old Xana could have done better. Although back then you were in a girl's body. How sad is that?"
"Shut up, Krieger!" The ground under Krieger explodes and he falls to the ground. Krieger flips backwards and lands on his feet.
"Having trouble fighting someone who isn't as weak as Sanne?"
"Die!" Xana waves a hand and blasts the ground in front of Krieger knocking him backwards. He sticks his hands out and does another flip to land on his feet.
"I won't go that easily." Krieger and Xana continue to fight as Sanne gets to the Factory and uses the Super Computer to call the others.
Mira and Ark are able to get to the Factory easily. "What's the attack?"
"He grabbed me and showed me Krieger and Skitz on a date. Like I didn't already know they were dating."
Ark blinks, looks at his sister, and shouts. "What!?"
Skitz rolls her eyes. "It isn't any of your business. We have a date for a Jet Boy Blue concert this Saturday. Should be fun." She keeps her eyes on Sanne looking for a reaction.
"Jet Boy Blue? They're good but a bit harsh for my taste. I'm sure you two will enjoy it." Sanne brings up the transfer programs. "After we stop Xana."
Back in the woods, Krieger looks for a way to escape. "Xana I'm sorry but I must leave your company." Krieger makes a remark before running for the sewer entrance in the woods.
"No, you won't get away that easily." Xana was charging his hands making an energy orb. The energy orb gets bigger and bigger and he adds more energy to it.
Krieger continues to run hoping he'd be fast enough when Xana throws the energy orb at Krieger. Krieger can feel the heat coming off the energy orb before it hits him. Krieger drops to the ground and the energy orb flies overhead before hitting the ground and exploding. Krieger is hit with the explosion.
"Aaaa!" His skin burns as energy whips around him burning him wherever the energy touches. Xana floats down to an injured Krieger.
"Heh heh heh, Krieger, not so big now are we." Xana grabs Krieger by the arm and burns him some more. "I think Sanne would like to see her friend now." Xana and Krieger break into a black mist and move to a light post and go to the Factory as soon as possible.
They fight on Lyoko, stuff happens, Sanne makes it at the last second and saves the day.
After the attack, Ark keeps an eye on Skitz and Krieger as they get on the elevator. "So, dating my sister?"
Krieger clenches his right hand in to a fist but stays silent.
Skitz speaks up. "It is none of your business, Ark."
"Hey, it isn't like I'm going to say he can't. Just didn't expect it." His eyes glance over to Sanne who is checking something on her Jpocket.
"Whatever, little bro."
"By eight minutes!" Everyone on the elevator laughs.
A few nights later... "Hey Skitz what's with the get up?" Skitz is wearing a different outfit than usual.
"Just got back from the Jet Boy Blue concert, with Krieger." Skitz watches for a reaction.
"Oh, that was tonight? That means tomorrow is Sunday."
Skitz blinks a couple of times. "Sanne, are you okay?"
"Yes, just distracted. I'm working on a few things with the Super Computer and lose track of the time. And day."
Skitz smirks. "Just like your dad."
"I guess. So, how was the concert?"
"Good. I'm surprised with how athletic as Krieger is he doesn't know how to dance." She smiles. "I think I taught him a thing or two."
Sanne smiles back. "That's great. I'm glad you two are having so much fun together. He really needs to get away from the gym and I needed you to stop bugging me about him."
Skitz is skeptical of Sanne's enthusiasm. "Come on, aren't you the least bit jealous?"
"Why would I be jealous? I don't like Krieger like that." Her eyes narrow. "Skitz, you're not dating Krieger just to make me jealous, are you?"
Shit! "What? No. I talked with him because he does like you a lot. I tried to help him but nothing worked. So we hung out a few times and I figured hell, he is brave and smart and good looking. He protects all of us and is always ready to risk himself to make sure we are safe from Xana. He's the bravest out of all of us as he's always ready to fight whatever Xana sent to Earth to make sure we get to Lyoko. There are so many things about him you don't seem to see. So I asked him out on a real date and well, here I am." Wow. I mean, he is all of those things I just said. Not a bad kisser either. "I'm still a little surprised he said yes. Maybe he realized he needs to get out of the gym."
"I see all of those things, Skitz. I see it from him and Ark and you and Mira. I just don't like him as more than a friend. You're all brave and smart and good looking and every thing else. But I don't like your brother as more than a friend. Or you. Or Mira. I just, don't, care about that." Sanne tries pausing between words for emphasis.
"Wait, you think my brother is good looking?"
"Well, I guess. I mean, you all are. There are a lot of good looking people in the world. None of it matters to me. Maybe when I'm older it will but right now I just don't care. Who is your celebrity crush?"
"Why?"
"Whoever it is, I'm sure if they walked on to campus you'd be fan girling over them and begging for an autograph. Right?" Skitz nods. "I don't have that. Yes I understand this actor is attractive and charming or whatever but it doesn't mean anything to me. Maybe I'm too focused on Xana or maybe I just haven't hit that point in life like you and the others have."
Skitz makes a face as she crosses her arms. "Maybe. Or maybe, speaking of Xana, there is a certain dark haired boy who,"
Sanne cuts her off. "I don't like Dante like that either. Hell, could you imagine bringing him home to my parents?" She laughs a little. "Just, if you are trying to make me jealous, stop. You're my friend and I know how you think. It wouldn't be fair to Krieger."
"I'm not, I swear." Especially now that I have spent more time alone with Krieger. He is a great person and fun to hang out with. "I'm not saying things will get serious but you know what? I don't need serious. Dealing with Xana is serious enough." Skitz sits down on her bed. "You need to get a release too. Especially if Krieger and I spend more time together you two can't be training in the gym all the time."
"I'll have fun when I have Xana locked away in a Tower."
One floor away, Ark and Krieger are in their room. "You know, at first I was surprised you'd date my sister."
"Why?" Krieger had a fun time at the concert. Skitz showed him how to dance and the music was good.
"I know I've gotten a few inches taller than her but we still look a lot alike." He smiles. "Since I was taken you decided to date the next best thing?"
Krieger narrows his eyes. "Your sister has changed more than you think if you think she still looks like you." A smile starts to form. "And you'd be third on the Della Robbia family list."
"Ew, my mom is not a,"
Krieger laughs. "There is a reason that one company wanted her to do the bikini edition of their website."
"Whatever, I still don't believe it."
"Believe it? This isn't Bigfoot."
"No, it isn't. I think I know what my sister is planning."
"And what's that?"
"She's trying to make Sanne jealous. I know how she thinks. You like Sanne a lot, can't say I
don't understand why, but she doesn't want to date. So my sister comes up with a plan to make Sanne jealous by having you two date." He taps his temple. "It's exactly the kind of thing she would think up."
"I, that, that's," Krieger stops. "That actually is the plan. It isn't working. Skitz says it is but Sanne doesn't seem jealous."
Ark pats Krieger on the arm. "You can't make a girl like you as more than a friend if she doesn't want to be more. My dad made sure to tell me that." He changes his face and voice. "Having a new friend is rewarding enough. Don't try and make it more than what it is."
"First, that was terrible. Second, why did he tell you this?"
"A guy at his job got in trouble because he liked one of the new reporters for Xtreem Sports and wouldn't leave her alone. My dad wanted to make sure I never acted like a fool."
Krieger thinks about what Ark said for a second. "I, well, hell. That actually is really good advice." He sits down on his bed. "I guess I'll tell Skitz the plan is off. If Sanne ever decides she wants to date, we will. If not, well, I don't know. I've had a crush on her for years. Ever since we were nine at the Belpois' home for Christmas. We were playing in the snow by the woods and got in to a snowball fight."
"And?"
"It was the first time I thought any girl looked, uh, adorable. Unlike a lot of boys, well, you too. We always hung out with Skitz or Sanne so there was never that girls are icky phase a lot of boys go through. But that was the first time I thought she was cute and wasn't sure what it was. Not until I got older."
"She is cute." Krieger glares. "What, I've got eyes. She's a pretty awesome person and makes a great friend. You do too, sometimes."
Krieger tosses a pillow at Ark. "I don't snore that loudly."
"Yes you do. One of these nights I'll record you so you can hear it." He tosses the pillow back. "So, if you break up with my sister, what will you do after school?" Krieger shrugs his shoulders. "So maybe don't break up? Or do, but still hang out. I love going to the mall with Mira just to go to the mall. It can't be all about Xana all the time."
"I don't know. When I first got permission to come here I thought about all the fun we'd have. The four of us away from our parents and free to do stuff."
"And?"
"Well, you ran away to be with Mira. Sanne is always busy with the Super Computer. Your sister is cool and stuff. We are friends so hanging out with her is fun." Krieger sees the look on Ark's face. "What?"
"I didn't run away with Mira. My sister is my best friend and always will be but we've pretty much been connected at the hip since diapers. I thought when we came here sure I'd hang out with you and Sanne more but I wanted new friends. Friends not through my parents but because I met them and they met me. They liked me. They wanted to be friends because they liked me." He sighs. "Xana messed that up. I probably should have ignored Mira but dammit I do want friends outside of the four of us. She's cute too and a good kisser."
"I wouldn't know."
"You better not know if Mira is a good kisser!" They both laugh. "Seriously though, date her, or don't. Just get out of the gym and have fun." Ark leans back on his bed. "Who knows, tomorrow could be the day Xana kills us. Or the next."
"That won't happen. We, I know with all of the work Sanne has put in, we will beat him soon."
"I hope so, buddy."
A/N Another one done! I like focusing on the story. We know she makes it in the end, deactivates the Tower, so skip that and go to the story. Easily amused.
