Hello again. I'm sorry this one is so short, they'll get longer I promise. I just thought to do the Thalia/Percy running away part first, and then proceed with them meeting. Hope you like it!
Percy Jackson did not want to go to sleep. But at 12:36 PM, an eight year old only has a small chance of staying awake. So after wrestling with himself for 10 more minutes, he gave in to exhaustion, he slipped into a fitful sleep.
Mommy and Smelly Gabe. Mommy getting in the driver's seat. Smelly Gabe in the driver's seat, Mommy mad. Gabe mad too. Mommy yelling, Smelly Gabe point to me, Mommy shocked. Gabe driving and drink smelly stuff. Then a big crash. My head hurts. Mommy lying there bleeding…
With a gasp Percy woke up, taking shaky breaths because of his dream. Those were his only memories of the night where his mom died, and they haunted him each and every night. Of course Percy knew what really happened now. Gabe was drunk, and mom tried to drive, but somehow Gabe got the car and threatened to do something to me, and mom, being the loving mother she is, let him drive. Then the car crashed, and Gabe got away with a broken leg, me with a concussion and a broken arm, but mom, she didn't make it. It was all Smelly Gabe's fault. He could have grown up with a caring, loving mother who made him blue cookies, and took him to the park, and let him go to her job and eat candy. Gabe did none of that. A question he had never considered popped up into his mind: why was he staying? He was pretty much free to just leave. And what better time to do it than 2:49 in the morning? So he grabbed his school backpack and emptied it out. He stuffed in a blanket, and a pillow, along with some clothes. Then he ran to the dingy kitchen and packed granola bars. Finally, he grabbed a knife based on the experience of when he'd cut himself once, and if he met any strangers who wanted to hurt him, he'd tell them he would give them some cuts and they would run away. Considering his backpack was completely full, Percy turned the doorknob and the eight year old slipped away into the alleys of New York at 3:00 AM.
