Code Xana Episode 34: Phobia

A/N And started up again, with new and different ideas.

Krieger and Skitz get back to his dorm after going to the arcade. "I finally found your weakness!" Skitz laughs. "I can't believe how ticklish you are."

Krieger shakes his head and laughs lightly. "I knew I shouldn't have let you trick me."

She pats him on the arm. "Trick you? We did Winner Gets The Truth and I won four fights. You answered four questions."

"I won one!"

"Yes, and you asked if I liked any other guys on campus. Still don't know why." Maybe he's starting to like me? As more than friends? Wants to make sure there is no competition.

"When we fake break up I'm wondering who might be joining us." He sits on his bed and Skitz sits down next to him. "He better be brave and strong and able to keep a secret."

Skitz rolls her eyes. "Unlike Ark, I don't want anyone dragged in to this shit."

"Well, then after we beat Xana. We can't fake date forever."

OMG! Why does he want to break up with me so badly? "Winner gets the truth, this time thumb wrestling." She holds her hand out. "You game?"

Krieger looks down at her hand. "I'm game."

The two start to thumb wrestle, cheating with moving their arms and pulling back and forth.

The door flies open. "Leave me alone!" Ark slams the door shut. "Oh, Krieger, hi Skitz." Ark sits down on his bed as Krieger and Skitz pull away from each other.

"What's going on?"

"Mira, she, she's an idiot." He notices his sister and his friend sitting on the bed together. "Oh, come on you two. Go make out in the woods or something where I won't see you."

Krieger almost hurts himself as he gets up from the bed. "We weren't doing that! We just got back from the arcade."

Skitz smiles. "Where I beat him four to one at Immortal Fighters."

"Right, uh, I'm going out." He gets up from his bed and leaves.

When the door closes behind him, Skitz looks up at Krieger. "So, back to the thumb war?"

"Yes." He sits down, a little farther away from her than before, and holds his hand out.

Mira runs through the woods getting tired. "Oh crap I'm lost." She looks around not recognizing where she is. "Why did Ark have to be so stupid?"

She had been walking to the vending machines when a student she didn't know tripped and fell. She went to him and knelled down to check on him. He tried to stand up, their heads hitting each other.

Ark saw Mira over another boy, in a way that looked like they were making out.

They yelled, she pushed him, and he told her not to touch him. After a few more words, they went in different directions.

Mira didn't want anyone to see her crying so she ran off in to the woods.

Where she is now wandering around, lost.

Back at Kadic Acadamy, Skitz wants to win so cheats more than both already were by reaching over with her free hand and tickling Krieger.

The distraction works and she pins his thumb. "Ha, winner winner chicken dinner."

"Cheat." Krieger rubs his wrist. "You don't deserve the truth."

She smirks. "I won, I get the truth." She looks him in the eye. "Why do you want to break up with me so bad? Don't we have fun?"

"What? Skitz, we aren't really dating. We're pretending so Sanne will get jealous. Except that didn't work, did it?"

He still hasn't answered me. "Well, it is. You don't pay attention but I do. I see the way she looks at you when you aren't looking." She pokes him in the chest. "Now tell me, why do you want to break up so badly?"

"Well, I mean, we can do everything we do already just as friends."

Skitz leans in close to him. "Not everything."

He leans away. "Hey, uh, I mean..." He can't speak as his thoughts and words get cut off by a kiss.

In Sanne and Skitz's room, Sanne is asleep at her desk. Her Jpocket starts to beep as the Super Scan finds an activated Tower.

Mira continues to walk in the woods sure she will find her way soon. She doesn't see the snake until it bites her. "What, a snake? Snake!" She turns and runs. The one thing that scares her more than anything is snakes.

Ark pouts outside of the gym. "I should have listened. Of course Mira wouldn't kiss another guy in the middle of the campus. Idiot." He shakes his head. "And she won't answer her phone."

Skitz pulls away from Krieger. "If we break up we can't do that." She sees her lipstick left behind on his lips. "So, really, why do you want to break up with me so badly?"

Krieger catches his breath after a second. "Skitz, we're friends. It feels weird doing this, that. I like you, you're my friend, but I don't like you like that." He feels his heart beat fast in his chest. "I liked your plan but it didn't work."

Hmmm... I wonder if I, "It is working! We just need to find something that makes her snap." It is like a light bulb went off in her head. "I'll send her a text message to meet me here in your room. She walks in on us making out and stuff and realizes that's what she wants."

"I, well, it,"

"Ow!" Skitz jumps up from the bed. "Something bit me!" She sees the something. "Rat!" She jumps on to Ark's bed. "Kill it! Kill it! Rat!"

Krieger sees the rat and opens the door. It runs out leaving the two behind. "That is weird. I don't think I've seen one in the wild before."

Skitz rubs her leg where she had been bitten. "Do you think it is Xana?"

"I, no. Sanne would call if it is him. We should go to the infirmary."

"Not a bad idea. I can't risk it getting infected."

The two leave together for the infirmary.

Mira looks around to make sure she is safe. "No snakes, that's an improvement." She sighs and sits down to rest.

She rests for a couple of minutes when she hears a rustling noise. She looks over and then hears a rattling noise. "Ow!" Something bit her! "Ow, no, a snake, get away from me!" She kicks the snake and feels herself become light headed. "No, I…" She stumbles as she tries to get away. "No, I hate snakes…" She falls forward as the world spins around her. "Nooo…" She passes out.

Skitz is at the nurse's office as the nurse looks at the wound. "You say a rat did this?" The nurse injects a cure all liquid into the wound.

"Yes." Skitz feels the needle but doesn't care. Needles are no big deal to her.

Krieger keeps his eyes closed as he hates needles.

"Well whatever it is that should keep it from getting more infected. Don't take a shower for six to twelve hours or let it get wet. Bacteria like a moist place to spread." The nurse puts a square bandage over the mark. "That should do it."

"Thanks." Skitz pulls her pantleg back down. "The needle is gone, Krieger."

He peeks with one eye. "Good."

They go to the door and leave the nurses office.

They walk outside and goes to the gazebo. It is a strangely warm day in early November. "Thanks for walking with me."

"No big deal."

Skitz leans back and looks at the roof of the Gazebo. "What is that?" Something drops from the roof. "Aaaa!" It is a rat!" She throws it off of her. "What's going on!?" She freaks out and runs out of the Gazebo.

"Skitz, wait!" Krieger runs after her.

Sanne is still asleep at her desk when the Super Scan continues to beep. "Uh, no. Five more minutes" She smacks her hand on the Jpocket and it makes her realize it is not an alarm clock. "Oh, an attack, wait, Xana!" Sanne gets her phone out and calls the others as she runs for the Factory.

"Xana!" Skitz figured this out already when more rats appeared. "I'll be there as soon as possible." Skitz tries to take the sewer entrance but the rats catch up and bite her a couple times.

They hang up and Sanne calls Krieger, no answer. He is too busy trying to help Skitz fight off the rats.

She calls Ark and does get a response.

"Really? Ok, I'll be there." Ark is getting worried. Mira wouldn't answer her phone and wasn't in her room. Was she really that mad? Would she really break up with him over something that was only in Mira's mind? He knew Mira didn't like his sister but she said she hated Skitz. Was she really so jealous of his sister as to break up with him over that? And if that did happen would she stay in the group or leave it?

They go, Xana taunts, they fight, Sanne deactivates and launches a return

Sanne is in front of her computer. It is defragmenting. "No, one percent?" She gives out a cry. "This takes forever." She rests her forehead on the desk wanting another nap after the attack.

Skitz opens the door a little and sees Sanne at the desk. "Perfect." Unless this actually works. Except Krieger said we can still hang out as friends. I like hanging out with him. Ark is always with Mirta and Sanne is busy with the Super Computer.

"Well?"

Skitz turns to Krieger. "Lights, camera, and action." She leans back against the door as Krieger all but mauls her.

Sanne lifts her head and sees the two in what looks like a passionate embrace. "Hey! I'm in here, stop that!"

Skitz turns to her. "Wait, why aren't you at the Super Computer?"

"My Jtop needs to defrag and I need a nap." Sanne sees Skitz's lipstick on Krieger's lips and neck. "So go do that, elsewhere."

"Sorry." Skitz has to hide her smile. "We'll go, elsewhere."

After leaving the room, Skitz starts to laugh. "She is so jealous."

"What? Skitz, how can you tell?"

This is too easy. "Did I distract you that much? You did seem to like it." She gets closer. "I liked it too."

"I, it, Skitz, not in the hallway." His cheeks flush with color as he backs away.

He is so cute sometimes. "Krieger, calm down. It isn't like we're the only two people dating at Kadic Academy." She pins him against the wall. "But I am no a fan of PDA either. Back to your room?"

Krieger feels his mouth go dry. "We should train! I mean, I didn't go to the gym today. Want to join me?"

"Sure! Let me get my gym clothes."

"I need to grab mine, too. Meet me at the gym."

Skitz walks back in her room and sees Sanne's head on the desk. "Why not nap in your bed?"

Sanne doesn't lift her head. "I'm too tired to move. And this is actually pretty comfy."

"So, that's a no about joining Krieger and I in the gym?"

"No, not right now."

Skitz walks over to Sanne and messes with her hair. "Go to bed or your neck and back will be hurting worse than I do after being hit by a Mega Tank blast."

"Fine, mom." Both girls laugh as Sanne makes her way to her bed. "You two have fun."

Skitz is about to leave when she stops. "Sanne, are you really good with Krieger and I dating? I know you like him and,"

Sanne gets the energy to yell. "Yes! Geesh. I do like Krieger but I like you and Ark too. Am I supposed to date all three of you just because you guys are my friends?"

"No, I guess not. Mira would probably hate you and I don't like you like that."

Sanne turns on her side so she can look at Skitz. "That, how come you understand it between us but not Krieger? I like, hell, I love you. You're family. So are Krieger and Ark. We've known each other since before we could walk. Maybe if things were different I might want to date but I don't want that. Not from Krieger or anyone else."

"Hey, I'm just making sure. Krieger is an awesome guy and I, well, not to sound insecure but I'm just waiting for him to break up with me for you."

"He better not do that. Girls before, uh, something that rhymes with girls." Both laugh. "You two have fun."

"Oh, we will." Damn. She really isn't jealous. Poor Krieger. He has his heart set on dating her and she sees him as a friend. Skitz sighs. "Being friends is awesome. She's putting herself through hell for us to stop Xana. If Krieger can't see that then he better learn to get over it."
