Code Xana Episode 40: School of a 1000 Corpses

Sanne is beating her head against the wall. She had been caught sneaking out of her room to get a soda after curfew. She was told to stand in the corner as the Groundskeeper gets the principal.
She is standing next to a machine and wants to get something to drink but follows her orders to stand in the corner. She was whispering to herself. "Stupid," hits head against wall. "Stupid," she does it again. "Stupid," She does it again then feels a hand on her shoulder.
"Sanne Belpois?" She turns around and sees the new principal. "Please explain to me what you were doing."
"I was thirsty and wanted I really something to drink. I don't have a cup in my room so I couldn't get one from the sink in the girls' shower room. I know its past curfew and I shouldn't be outside right now and I'll take whatever punishment you have."
"Really?" Sanne nods. "Well, you've been truthful and know what you've done is wrong. Get a bottle of water from the machine and then I'll lead you back to your room."
Sanne gets a bottle of water even though she really wanted a soda then goes back to her room as the principal follows her.
When they get to her room she opens the door and the principal stops her. "Keep that bottle and fill it with water before you go to bed next time so I don't have to be woken up this late. Go to bed, you have classes tomorrow." Sanne nods and closes the door.
"Whew." She wipes her brow. "That was close." Sanne goes over to her bed after drinking some water.
"What was?" Sanne is surprised that Skitz is still awake. "Sanne I know you're awake. What was close?"
"I, I got caught getting something to drink."
She's been out past curfew a few times now. What is going on? "Sanne if you get a detention Xana will attack and we won't be able to get you out." Skitz sits up in her bed.
"I know but I didn't think I'd get caught." Sanne sighs wanting to go to sleep now that she wasn't thirsty.
"You got that right you didn't think Sanne." Skitz sighs. "What is up with you? You aren't at the Super Computer as far as I know but still out super late."
"I, I," She stops. "It isn't important. Tonight I was thirsty, two nights ago I went to the Factory and ran in to Ark."
"My brother? What was he doing?"
"Moping on the bridge. About Mira."
"Oh, I would say that sucks but I don't really care about her."
Sanne rolls her eyes. "You really need to get over her. From the sounds of it it isn't her fault Ark doesn't hang out with you any more. He wanted to come here and make new friends that weren't us. Friends that aren't friends because of our parents." She sighs. "I kinda wanted the same thing. At least, start new clubs. Krieger and a martial arts club. I would do an art club. Meet new people that way. People with the same interests as I do but not you or Krieger or Ark."
"That's stupid. We don't need anyone else." Skitz lies back down. "Not right now anyways."
"Well, no, but Ark is upset and I want to help but I don't know how." Sanne makes a noise. "I feel helpless. I can't get stuff to work on the computer, I can't help my friends. I know you don't trust me or whatever about Krieger."
"Sanne, seriously? I trust you. About Krieger and Xana and everything else. I like Krieger but I know where his heart is. Maybe I can change it, maybe I can't. Maybe I don't want to change it?" Do I tell her? "Sanne, please don't be mad."
"About what?"
"It was a plan. My plan. To make you jealous. I thought if Krieger was dating someone else you'd get jealous and make your move. Krieger didn't want to use a girl like that so I volunteered myself." Skitz smiles. "I'm glad the plan failed."
Sanne narrows her eyes at her. "That's messed up. I can't believe you!" Sanne grabs a pillow and throws it at Skitz. "You two tried to manipulate me."
"No! Well, okay yes. I really thought I was doing the right thing. I know you like him but wouldn't admit it. I want you to be happy. I want him to be happy."
"And?"
"Well, at least I think he's happy now." She smiles. "I'm happy too. What about you?"
"First, screw you and your plan. I'm going to beat you up later."
She has been training with Krieger but I bet I can still beat her. "Second?"
"I'll beat him up later too." Sanne sits up in bed. "I want to beat you up right now."
"Try it."
The two glare at each other before they start laughing. "Maybe I should beat up Mira."
Ooo, what happened there? I'd help. "What did she do?"
"Nothing, just, I was talking with Ark on the bridge. He was lying on his back, staring at the moon. I joined him and we got to talking. His issue with Mira is she doesn't trust him."
"And?"
"She showed up at the Factory and accused us of, something. I don't know what she was thinking."
"You, and Ark?" Sanne shrugs her shoulders. "What?"
"Hey, I get he's a big goofball and stuff but he is cute and funny and brave."
Skitz makes gagging noises.
Sanne laughs. "Hey, he's not my brother."
"No, no no no. Not my brother."
This could be fun. "Oh? So the thought of Ark and I on the bridge making out after he told me how much he hates what is going on grosses you out?"
"You did not! Not my brother."
"The way his hands moved up my shirt, thankfully I was wearing a bra or,"
Skitz leaps up from the bed. "No! Stop, please tell me you're lying. You did not do that with my brother."
Sanne bursts out laughing and can't respond.
"I knew it. My brother is awesome but no way would you do that with him."
"We need," Sanne coughs. "We need to get to bed."
"I was already in bed. You were the one not in bed."
The two girls lie back down and soon fall asleep.
The next morning Sanne hears her alarm, which was next to her head, beeping. She reaches over and hits it turning it off but still hears a beeping noise. "Uh, Skitz, turn your alarm off." Sanne sits up, rubs the sleep out of her eyes, and yawns. "Skitz, turn it off!" She yells and sees Skitz stir.
"Shut up Sanne it isn't my alarm." Skitz yawns and knows what her alarm sounds like and it didn't sound like that. "It sounds more like the…" Sanne finishes the sentence.
"Super Scan!" Sanne gets out of bed and opens her Jtop. "Forest Sector, crap, uh, I'll call Krieger and you call Mira." Sanne finds her phone and calls Krieger. "Krieger, attack!"
"Ok, you don't have to yell." Krieger looks over at a sleeping Ark. "I'll tell Ark and get him moving."
"Ok, see you soon." Sanne hangs up and sees Skitz hasn't gotten up. "Fine I'll call Mira." Sanne does. "Mira, there's an attack."
"Already? I don't even get a shower." Mira yawns. She had been getting clean clothes together to take a shower but now that Xana was attacking she would have to change her plans. "Let me get dressed into my clothes from yesterday and I'll be there." Mira and Sanne hang up.
"Skitz, we, we should probably change."
"Yeah, running around in my underwear is not something I want to do." While Sanne wears a long pink shirt with the letter A on it that used to belong to her mother Skitz sleeps in her underwear.
Skitz and Sanne get the clothes they wore yesterday on and run out of the room.
Mira, in a sleepy haze, goes to the ladies bathroom first. "Brush teeth. Give time, wake up."
She barely has her eyes open when a black mist appears behind her and attacks.
Sanne and Skitz skate through the sewers, Ark and Krieger catch up to Sanne and Skitz. "Hello ladies, whoa." Ark makes a face at his sister. "No time for makeup?"
"It is too early for that." Skitz looks at Krieger. "He doesn't seem to mind." Ark stares at his sister as she sticks her tongue out at him. Skitz laughs knowing it gets to her brother.
"No, you're still cute."
Aww, he's so sweet. If the plan hadn't failed... "You just earned yourself a free date, on me."
"I do like beating you at Cross Roads GTX."
"That game sucks! Why not all the Immortal Fighters we can play until our thumbs are sore from pressing buttons."
"Nope. You are too good at that."
They make it to the end of the sewer passage and Krieger goes up the ladder. "Uh, frak." He goes back down the ladder.
"What's up?"
"Sanne, did Xana get strong enough to posses people?"
"I don't know." She climbs up the ladder and sees the people. "They, they aren't moving like normal people." Sanne walks forward trying to get a better look. She sees one person walk towards her with a weird gait. Suddenly the right arm falls off! "Oh crap I, I think they're dead!" Sanne covers her mouth knowing that yelling wasn't a good thing.
"What? Solanum Virus or Xana?" Ark is climbing out of the sewers and sees another person coming from the street. "We should probably run."
"Probably Xana unless he found someone with Solanum and released it." Sanne hears a groan. "I, we have to run!" Sanne and Ark and climb down the ladder to hide and plan what to do next.
On Kadic Academy Campus, someone sees a group of the dead. "Aaaa!" A student sees them. "Solanum!" This sends the school into a panic. The Solanum Virus had no cure. If you are bit or scratched you were killed before the Virus turned you into the undead.
"Don't panic! Leave the school and meet outside the gates!" Jim takes charge trying to keep things calm. "Call your friends and make sure they know to leave the school! Don't go to your rooms they can break through the doors!" Jim looks around. "This is like the Solanum Virus outbreak me and Sanne were caught up in 2016…" Jim realizes what would happen. When he and Sanne went on vacation a Solanum outbreak happened near the hotel they were in. They were evacuated and the place was fire bombed to destroy the victims. "Get away from the school! Go into the city. Get as far away as possible!" Jim gets his phone out. "Samantha, get out of the Hermitage, get as far away from there and the school as possible!"
"What? Jim, what's going on?" Samantha was making a sandwich for lunch when Jim called.
"Solanum outbreak at the school. If they, if they do like they always do the whole area will be fire bombed!"
"Ok, I'll, I'll go to the Factory."
"Yes, great idea!" Jim looks around. "I'll find the kids and get them there." Jim and Samantha hang up and Jim looks for the kids.
"Jim, he's calling." Sanne answers her phone. "Grandpa?"
"Sanne, get out of the school! Where are the others?"
"We're all together, why?"
"Solanum outbreak at the school. Get out, don't go to the Hermitage. Meet me, meet me at, um," Jim thinks about where the kids should meet him. "Meet me in front of the gates!" Jim was panicking even though he told others not to. He didn't want his wife or granddaughter to get hurt.
"Grandpa we're all together and we're fine. Don't worry about us just get out. Um, where's grandma?"
"I told her to go to the Factory!" Jim slips and says this. "I mean, I, I told her to go somewhere safe."
"Ok Grandpa, um, we're all ok and we'll see you soon. Just make sure you don't get hurt." Sanne and Jim hang up. "Guys my grandmother is headed for the Factory so we better hurry." They all knew what would happen if Samantha found the Super Computer was on.
"Oh great. Lock the elevator down so she doesn't come down and see us on Lyoko." Krieger wasn't too worried about it. They'd deactivate the Tower soon and get out before the attack got serious.
"It doesn't matter we have to do a return. The possessed got to the school."
Krieger almost falls off his skateboard. "We need to hurry!"
Sanne and the others fight Xana on Lyoko and deactivate the Tower launching a return.
Sanne finds herself on the bridge with Ark. "Hey, Ark, you and Mira need to work things out. She's a part of the group. Xana knows how to manipulate people. He messes with their heads. He messed with our parents. As close as they were he could still manipulate them."
"You're right." He sighs. "She should be here in a second."
Both stand up and wait for Mira.
They turn their head when they hear the sewer cover move. "Hey Mira." Sanne smiles at her. "I'm sorry, I don't know what it looked like, but Ark and I are just friends."
"Of course you are." Mira walks towards the two. "Just friends. Since diapers."
Sanne doesn't notice it but Ark does. "Something's wrong with her."
"Huh?"
"Mira, what's wrong?" Ark walks over to her. "Something's wrong. Tell me. Mira, are you on drugs?"
Mira stumbles towards him. "Ark," She smiles wickedly as she reveals a knife she stole from the kitchen. "Die!" She slashes his throat.
"Ark!" Sanne's scream pierces the night. "Mira, stop!"
"Stop? Why?" Mira ignores Ark as he falls to his knees grasping at his throat. "Kill you all. Xana wins. No one to stop him." She walks much like the the undead from the attack.
"Xana did something to you." Sanne runs into the Factory reaching for her phone.
Skitz's phone rings but no one answers. Her blood pools on the floor next to her bed. Pouring out from her heart where a knife had been shoved in minutes earlier.
Krieger's phone rings but no one answers. His blood is sprayed across the wall after Mira had slit his throat.
Sanne gets to the control panel after taking the elevator. "Return, launch a return. I have to launch a return."
She never hears Mira's footsteps as Mira took the other path and not the elevator. "Do you?" Mira grabs Sanne by the hair and pulls back. "Xana wins." She slits Sanne's throat causing blood to spray across the monitor.
Mira blinks a few times. "What? Where's my tooth brush?" She hears the gurgling noise of Sanne choking on her own blood. "Sanne!" She drops the knife and when it clatters realizes who slit Sanne's throat. "No! No, no I didn't do this. Sanne!" She drops to her knees and presses her hands on the wound.
The blood seeps through her fingers. "Sanne!" Her scream echoes around the room. "You can't die."
She stands up, shaking, unable to think. "I killed her. Why, how?" She looks up at the blood covered monitor. "Xana. He, he did this to me." Her eyes go out of focus.
Xana messed with her brain. To set her on a mission to kill the Lyoko Warriors. She has accomplished her mission.
"You did exactly as I wanted." Xana picks up the knife. "Thank you, Mira." He shoves the knife through her back. "And so I will soon kill the parents and then the world." He pulls the knife out of her back.
Mira collapses to the floor next to Sanne. She tries to cry, beg, anything but the knife pierced her lung.
Xana turns back into a black mist and leaves Mira and Sanne to die on the floor of the Control Room.
"..." Mira reaches up to try and pull herself to her feet. If I can get to someone I can save myself. The others.
She tries again but her hand slips because of the blood on it. No... She closes her eyes one last time never to open them again.
Xana waits a few days before activating multiple towers. Samantha and Jim never see it coming. None of the other original Lyoko Warriors have a chance.
With them dead, Xana is unopposed. He spreads death across the planet. No man, woman, or child survives. Neither beast or man can survive the virus that is Xana.
Immortal, spreading across first the galaxy and then the Universe. Other races have powerful weapons but with no knowledge of where Xana comes from are unable to stop him.
Millions of years are nothing to Xana and eventually he succeeds in destroying all life in the Universe.
A/N Ah, I have to end this. I enjoy my characters so much but it has to end eventually. Right? This time I give Xana the win. Mira is attacked in the bathroom, and not seen again until she kills Ark on the bridge. I never had Xana win so hey, why not give him the W for once?

If I continue this series and not go back to the first reboot it would look like this...
She tries to get up again and her hand touches the enter key launching a return.
The white bubble comes up reversing time. Will it save the others? Or is Mira too late for her friends...
A/N Gah, I was gonna just have Xana kill them all but dammit I love my characters and don't want them dead. I could kill them and restart the other reboot that has what, 4-5 episodes already done? Shit, IDK. What do you the readers think? Have Xana win and go back to the other reboot or continue with Mira hitting the button and perhaps saving the others? Or maybe they don't all make it...
