Karen stopped in front of Penelpoes door and said, "she's hooked up to a lot of machines like the ventilator, heart monitors, several IV's going so don't be shocked when you step inside". Derek took a deep breath and then pushed the door open, when he saw her his heart shattered into a million pieces.
She looked so pale, so frail, so helpless laying there in front of him, he made his way over to her bedside and took her hand in his and brought it to his lips and gently kissed it and said, "I love you". Fran, Dave, Hotch and Emily circled her bed and stood looking at their injured friend.
Dave said, "we're all here kitten and we love you", Emily said, "that's right PG and we need you to fight to come back to us", Derek said, "you need to fight to come back to me and to our daughter". Tears streamed down his face and he said, "you gave me a beautiful little girl, she looks so much like you baby girl and I can't wait for you to see her".
Fran weakly smiled and said, "she's gorgeous Penelope and she's definitely going to be a heart breaker", Derek sighed and said, "please wake up, I need you and the baby needs you, we all need you sweetness". Hotch looked around the room at all of the machines and then down at Penelope and said, "we miss you Garcia, we all miss you so much".
Emily wiped her eyes and said, "JJ and Reid are upstairs in the NICU with your daughter and from the pictures I've seen she's absolutely gorgeous PG". Dave said, "but with you as her mother we expected nothing less", Derek grinned and said, "truer words have never been spoken baby girl, not ever".
Derek watched her chest rise and fall and rise and fall as the swooshing sound of the ventilator filled her room, he closed his eyes and sent up another silent prayer for her. Hotch looked at the others and then said, "I'm going to step out and let you have some time alone with Penelope".
Derek looked up and said, "thank you", Fran kissed Penelope on the forehead and said, "we love you Penelope", she then walked over and kissed her son on the top of the head and said, "we'll be right out in the hall". Derek nodded his head and said, "thanks momma", she smiled and turned around and intertwined fingers with her husband and followed the others out into the hall, leaving Derek alone with his wife.
As he looked around the room he said, "baby I don't know if you can hear me or not but I love you so much, I love you with my whole heart, I always have and I always will and I need you to fight like you've never fought before to come back to me and our daughter", he gently squeezed her hand and said, "please don't leave me, please don't Suddenly her heart monitor started going crazy and then she started taking something that looked like a seizure, he stepped back as several doctors and nurses ran into the room. One of the nurses led him out into the hallway where Fran and the others ran over to him and she said, "what happened"?, Derek said, "she was stable and then she started taking something that looked like a seizure and then her heart stopped".
She pulled him into her arms and said, "she's going to be okay", Derek said, "I can't lose her momma, I can't lose her", Fran ran her hand up and down her sons back as he broke down in her arms.
