After his impromptu landing, Po slowly lifted his head from the cold stone of the courtyard. Looking up the panda saw a mantis aiming its… thingies… at him. Thoroughly confused, Po raised his head to turn around, finding the large audience staring at him in shock and confusion. Still turning, Po saw a tigress, standing stock still. Her expression held no emotion at all other than shock, but recognition shined in her eyes. And finally, the last thing that Po was able to recognise was a long, thin finger pointing directly in front of his face.
Shaking his head, Po stood up. "Well, isn't this interesting!" Po looked to the owner of the long finger to find a smiling Master Oogway as the speaker. "I never imagined we'd meet again like this Po."
"Yeah, sorry about this," Po said, clutching his still aching head. "I did not mean to gate crash. So, who'd you pick?" Po turned around to find Tigress still standing there, but her jaw had slackened in surprise.
"Tigress? Well, not surprising but good jo…" Po started before he was interrupted by Oogway.
"Not Tigress, Po. You." Not allowing Po to answer, Oogway raised Po's paw with his staff before exclaiming to the crowd. "The universe has brought us the Dragon Warrior!"
"WHAT?!" was heard from Master Shifu before a cymbal was struck, signalling celebratory streamers and confetti to be thrown into the air whilst the crowd cheered for their mystery Dragon Warrior. A group ducks came before the group of six masters and panda with a barge, supposedly for Po to sit on. The ducks clearly did NOT want the large panda to sit on the barge and Po was not about to make them.
"Master Oogway, have you gone nuts?!"
The Furious Five were sent into more astonished looks as the panda had dared to insult Oogway. Oogway however merely chuckled and answered "Oh absolutely, but that has no bearing on this decision. Just head up the steps to the room, you know where it is."
"Welcome back Po." The aged turtle then walked back up the steps, Shifu stopping next to him and having another conversation. Po sighed, and walked up the steps, to the relief of the ducks waiting with the barge. As the panda walked, he started contemplating on the ridiculousness of the day's events.
'I come to get supplies, try to watch Tigress become the Dragon Warrior, try to stop a kid cooking himself, get caught in the explosion, survive and get given the title of Dragon Warrior because I happened to fall in front of the old turtle. And survive. Either Oogway is right about the destiny crap or he really has lost his marbles.'
Po finally reached the top of the stairs finding a large set of gates. Po pushed open the doors, creating a large creaking to echo in the room behind. As he walked in, the doors closed behind him creating a loud crash when they fell together. It seemed Po was alone. Not one soul could be seen in the hall, except for the 1000 souls in the urn. Though 'seems' and 'is' are two separate concepts.
"Shall we get this over with Shifu? Neither of us like these games," Po called out into the hall. And sure enough, the small red panda walked out from behind a pillar. The old master had a stern mask plated onto his face, yet the odd flickering of his ear let Po know how pissed the teacher was. Not that Po could blame him.
"Panda." Shifu greeted coldly. "You have been selected, through chance, to become the Dragon Warr…"
"No."
Shifu fell silent at the single word thrown at him from the larger bear. His eyes widened in shock, before his mask slipped into anger. "No?!" Shifu began walking to the larger panda with a thunderous expression. "You come back here after all this time and all you've done, steal Tigress's title, and try to turn down this title?! Oh no… That is NOT how this works!" Shifu began to yell, furious.
"You don't have a choice panda…" "My name is Po", Po intervened. "I could not care less, Panda. You don't get a choice to turn this down. I would love to throw you out of this palace right now, but Oogway will not let me. For some reason, he believes you are the 'chosen one'."
The red panda sneered as he chuckled darkly. "You are not. And you will not be allowed to leave unless we prove that to him. So, you either accept the title and attempt to prove yourself to be worthy of the name, or you deal with me."
Instead of answering, Po turned around and walked away. "Where are you going, Panda?" Shifu was ignored. Po walked out of the hall, turning to where he thought Oogway had gone.
Ten Minutes Later
Instead of finding the old turtle, Po found himself hearing sounds of clashing and fighting. Curious, Po followed the noises to the training hall. "Ah," Po mused. "Probably working off their anger at being upstaged by a me." Entering the hall, Po saw the Five training. The hall had been much improved since the last time he was in it. Before there were only spinning dummy's, which rotated when you hit them. They were still there, however, there was a field of them instead of a couple. The upgrades to the hall included: A large Jade bowl, a flame pit, swinging hoops -which Monkey was making use of-, spinning logs with some kind of swinging wood maces, and a bunch of other utilities. Yet that was not what caught Po's attention.
Standing in the corner of the large hall was a small dummy. It didn't come up to Po's shoulders. The dummy was made out of rubber unlike the wooden ones and didn't have any arms. The dummy was painted to with a faded red with a black strip covering where two painted eyes were. Po put his paw on the dummy, a small smile covering his features. "How the hell is this thing still here? Thought Shifu would've removed it."
A voice to the left of Po spoke up. "That's what I would've thought." Po looked to the side to see the bird -Crane?- looking at him funny. "It's just weird to look at. Though it helps keep the door open when it's too hot in here."
Behind Crane the rest of the Five were noticing that Po had entered the room, though Tigress stayed further back than the rest. "So, 'Po'," Mantis started. "How does it feel? Getting to be the Dragon Warrior? And without even doing anything for it?"
The small bugs eyes were twitching as he was saying this, clearly agitated.
"Mantis, be nice! He probably has no idea what's going on!" Viper hissed at the bug.
"He's allowed to be annoyed", Po said. "You work your asses off and here I come in and take the glory, even if it was an accident."
"Anyway, I'm looking for Oogway, any of you seen him?"
Monkey then spoke up. "I think I saw going up the cliff, you know, with the peach tree."
"Of course, he is. Thanks Monkey, I'll let you get back to whatever you were doin'"
Po quickly left the training hall, rushing away from the Five and towards where the old turtle was.
